If you're looking for a chill spot with a friendly bartender, delicious beers, and the most adorable security guard, look no further. Lower Left is a super laid back brewery, but their beers are fabulous: particularly loved the Edge of Precipice, a super refreshing Pale Ale. Also enjoyed the Pencil Thin Mustache, a key lime pie gose. Be on the lookout for their security guard though: four-legged Iggy is a hoot and a half. We ate on the back patio, and Iggy came by to uh...make sure our food was safe. (In truth: Iggy was probably the biggest threat to our food, ha!) Look forward to coming back! read more

Totally unexpected pleasant surprise!!! Easy to access right off I-77 and they have a decent amount of parking as well (in the back). Super cute outdoor patio and seating inside too. Quaint, local feel and service was warm and genuine!! Met there for a Windsor Kittens yoga event and had the best time. Beers were a huge bonus! I'm starting on what I'm gonna call, "Brewery Row" because there are at least four or five of them in this strip. I think I found a gem on my first stop. Nothing in particularly different about the vibe here..typical brewery. Bartender was friendly, music was chill, beer tasted like many of the others. This one didn't offer food, or at least that I knew of. I liked that it was small and intimate. Nice place to stow away in a corner and get some work done. I would advise you to be a dog lover because I think I was the only patron there who came in without one. Since my daughter is back in town boxing and I don't have air in the car, I do think this will be one of the places I frequent to stay cool, have a cold brew and chill while waiting for her to practice. read more

Went here on a whim because it was fairly close to my hotel and was not disappointed. Both beers that I got were really good. Also, the bartender was super personal and provided a good sense for the establishment. Also, a definite spot for dog owners. Phenomenal neighborhood brewery with a great atmosphere, low-key vibe, and some of the best beers I've had in South end. A local friend and coworker introduced me and a few other coworkers to Lower Left for happy hour and even though we visited two other breweries during our Charlotte visit that week, we were all still thinking of and talking about the beers we had here. I had a flight so I could sample multiple things during our brief visit -- Juicy McJuiceface (the most crushable, juicy hazy IPA), Edge of Precipice (solid pale ale), Blix (nicely balanced, highly enjoyable coffee stout), and cemetery gates (only my second smoked beer and this one was vastly superior). Inside, behind the garage roll up doors, is a low-key atmosphere with friendly service, and the cutest guard dog ever alongside the bar. Parking is a bit sparse out front, but that's the case for most of the Charlotte breweries I enjoy, and this place is definitely worth hunting for a parking spot. read more

As a small town girl, moving to Charlotte was intimidating to say the very least. Everything is just so big and booming here, it can be overwhelming. Not at Lower Left! My husband randomly pulled up to this brewery and I immediately fell in love with the intimate neighborhood feel. There was a little hot dog stand out front and when we entered, we were greeted by the nicest bartender! Their beer selection was a lot of fun and they offer flights so you can sample several different beers. I absolutely loved the coconut vanilla blonde beer! The flavor is so unique, light and refreshing for summer. This particular night, they had a live 2 man band playing out back and that was nice. Bring your dog! The small friendly environment and the delicious unique beers are right up our alley! We will definitely be back to Lower Left! read more

This is the perfect after work chill spot! This brewery has plenty of parking and indoor and outdoor tables. The blueberry sour my friend got was fresh and full of flavor. They also have a cooler in the back with non-alcoholic options. I opted for a Lenny Boy kombucha that was perfect for this toasty day. The beer tender was friendly, patient, and let us try the different beers before making our decisions. The bathrooms were clean and there was no issue with parking or seating on this Saturday evening. I definitely plan to get back there next time I'm on that side of town! Cool but tiny sspot which I mentioned in my initial review, but it is like coming home, the guys who run the bar are very friendly and make you feel like you have been coming forever, even if it is your first visit. They have a pay it forward board, so if you want to meet with someone and then they can not make it you can pay for their beer and leave their name on the board, so when they do come in, point out your name and they will get you, your beer. Like everywhere else not very busy but lots of places to sit and stay distanced. Come support them and seriously relax, enjoy it ! read more

A newish addition to the neighborhood settled nearby some giants like Brewers at Yancy and OMB, this place feels tiny in comparison. It feels a little off the beaten path but can be accessed in a 5 minutes walk from either location. The small taproom is located inside some repurposed garage doors and another room is off to the side which appears to be used for private events. They also have seating out back and out front. I got to come in here a couple times this past weekend and finally check it out. The beer list is small and in my opinion is too heavy on IPAs. I found a sour I enjoyed and tried a really interesting brew called the Juicy McJuiceface which I also enjoyed. Besides that their options felt limited. I get that they are smaller and fairly new so I am hoping that as time goes on they will begin to experiment more and expand their offerings. The vibe is great here, reminds me of taprooms I've seen in places like Boone and Asheville where the environment feels more authentic and less cookie cutter and commercialized. I also got a chance to talk with some of the guys behind the bar and they were very friendly and you could tell they had a lot of pride in what they did. Truthfully if they added some more variety to their beer offerings this would probably be one of my favorite breweries in the city. I will for sure be coming back and will recommend this place to friends. read more

Was passing by and saw this place and was like "well that wasn't there before", so naturally I had to investigate since there was beer involved. Small sitting area w/a large patio in the back. The gal behind the counter was super nice and explained their offerings (which were also visible on the digital screens above the bar). There were only 5 proprietary beers on draught when I came in, but that's understandable since it is a young brewery that literally just had their soft opening earlier in the week. IPA and Sour dominant, but the Wit and Hazy IPA I had in my flight were actually quite good! I want to come back once they have themselves a bit more established and explore some of the different beer offerings in the future, but my first visit definitely boded well for what's in store! Charlotte's newest brewery is upon us! I was there at their soft grand opening so they are still working out the kinks. This review is primarily based on the beer which I really liked. All of the beers I tried were really good. Some beers that really stood out are Juicy McJuiceface (a New England IPA), Laser Shark (an old school IPA with lots of citrus and pine) and the Wit beer. They have a fairly small tasting room with lots of light. They also have a front patio and a back patio for hanging out. I can definitely see this as a regular stop on the Lower SouthEnd (LOSO) beer circuit! read more

A large selection of games to choose from to make your drinking more eventful. They have some snacks to help extend your stay. We loved the crackers and QC pimento cheese. The outdoor patio is partially covered for those that need the shade like me. Several tables outside (50+ ppl sized) and enough seating for about 30 people inside. A wonderful little brewery in South End, Lower Left serves up a delicious selection of beers in a fun, inviting setting that will have you coming back more than once. Stopping by on a recent Saturday afternoon, I enjoyed their delicious Citranova IPA and their crisp & tasty Edge of Precipice Pale Ale. While the taproom felt a little cramped, there's a spacious patio with both open and covered seating, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a few brews when the weather is nice. So again, I am here on business and a co-worker recommended that we try out this new bar on their opening day. It's very small inside but they have plenty of outdoor seating in the front of the building and the back. For an opening day, this place was packed around 5ish. It seemed they had a hard time handling the volume at that time, because the service was brutally slow and if you had to order from the back patio (where the sun was setting) it can get very unpleasant standing there in line in the heat. The positive, was that the beer that I had was decent. I think it was called Participation Award. read more

Finally got to stop by this new brewery this Labor Day weekend and what a great time it was! . Love the location as it's near brewers yancey but also love the layout, patio seating and seating out back as well as parking. Inside seating is great and they even have games to play. . Me and my fiancé both dove In with laser shark and juicy mcjuiceface ( great name btw) and we loved them! As we started some guess who games went with a flight to dive into all the beers they offer. Definitely adding this place to the brewery hop rotation! Small, simple brewery serving up some great beers. It looks like an old garage converted into a brewery, which I liked because they open up the bays and lots of fresh air pumps through. That does mean there wasn't any AC - at least when we went. They have about 10 beers on tap, and some cider/wine/non-alcohol options to suit everyone. Their hoppy mchopface was a very drinkable IPA, with the perfect bite and not a lingering sweetness. The tree hour tour was like a coconut cream pie blended into a blonde ale - sweet but not over powering. They have some snacks, like popcorn and such, but like other breweries, they rely on the food truck scene. I liked they have games, as well as "kid friendly" activities. My only critique was that their water was room temperature to warm, and had a weird water taste to it...but if you're drinking beer, it's way better flavored than the water! read more

So excited to have found Lower Left Brewing and will for sure add it to my brewery hopping list! Went on a Saturday afternoon and had wonderful service from each of the bartenders. They were friendly and super helpful in describing the special beers they were just releasing and what was already on tap. They are definitely taking COVID seriously with their regulations (no samples and no one under 21 years old) - plus the inside is small and they are limiting capacity. There are picnic tables in the front of the brewery and there is a small outdoor area out back which was fun to drink beer in! I enjoyed a flight so I could try multiple beers, and was pretty impressed by each one. My favorites were the Six Hour Tour (strong ale) and the Blix Oatmeal stout with Coffee and vanilla. The ale was super refreshing and had the right amount of hop kick I was looking for (it was a super light hop kick similar to a pale ale). Really enjoyed the coffee flavors in the Blix and how light it was for a Stout! Will for sure be back! read more

We stopped by here recently and were excited to check it out. The vibe is pretty relaxed which I enjoyed. It's not too loud and they have large garage doors that open to let the breeze in. They had an alcoholic ginger beer which I appreciated and games to play while you hang out. Unfortunately, the most memorable part of our experience was the stench. It smelled like a dumpster. I'm guessing it was coming from outside, but it was so bad that we couldn't stay for more than 15 minutes. It seems like a cool place, so I really hope they do something about the smell. read more

What a cool spot!! We stopped by Lower Left while brewery hopping in the area. Lots of tasty brews to choose from. I settled on the Mango Push Pop - sour. It was perfect and totally hit the spot. I love sours and this might be in my top 5 now! Also some gourmet popcorn - I chose the buffalo flavor. It's a small spot, but there's a decent amount of seating to accommodate inside & outside. Outside there are a couple fire pits and chairs. Perfect for a chilly night! We cannot wait to come back and really dive into the beers they have to offer! read more

A lowkey brewery right on the edge of uptown. If you're wanting good quality beer near the city with great vibes, and good people I highly recommend this place. I saw someone complain about there not being samples, it's true, but its simply because of the current pandemic. Theyre just adjusting to the best of their abilities given the situation. They do still have flights so you dont have to fully commit to a beer which is a great compromise with there not being any samples. read more
