Yesterday, despite the bitter cold, we decided to give this restaurant a try. it's on the restaurant.com list, so we called and asked if they were accepting restaurant.com; answer was yes. asked if it was good for take-out; answer: yes. so we used some points to get a "coupon", drove out there only to be told (by the same person we had spoken to on the phone) that they do not accept restaurant.com! he acknowledged our telephone conversation from earlier in the day, but said no, and would not budge. Their food may be really good, but for a restaurant to treat us this way is unacceptable. there were no other customers, so it wasn't as if they were busy. there are plenty of other restaurants with wonderful food. so disappointed... read more

Middle Eastern Flavors is great! You walk in and the menu is on a board on the left. They had a good amount of people working on a Sunday and they were very helpful when I was deciding between combos or the Shawarma. I opted for the large shawarma and we split fries. baba ghanoush, and hummus. HUGE portions of the sides and very reasonably priced. We ate in and they brought the food over VERY quickly. Super super nice people that work there. Super delicious and it seems like they are busy which is great because I'd like to see them stick around. Can't wait to go back for the chicken over rice. Wow! Great new find for us and happy we stopped in! Food was great and plentiful. I got the large shawrma combo and my wife for the large wrap. Easily enough food for two and a half meals. Home made pickles and baklava rounded it out for a tasty dinner! Prices were good and the owner was super friendly and welcoming. Absolutely exceptional food. Shawarma, kibbeh, spinach pies,baba ghanouj all 10/10. Friend and I had craving for Lebanese, she did not feel like cooking because we wanted a spread so we ordered a bunch of stuff to go. Service was excellent, the young man behind the counter was very patient and polite and was able to answer all of our questions. Everything we ordered was fresh and so so delicious. We even ordered baklava because they make it in house and it looked to good to pass up. I was ecstatic to return here after a year and find the business doing well and the food still strong. For my money, no one makes better hummus in the city - it's the perfect consistency, is garlicky - and with a dash of hot sauce and squeeze of lemon can be eaten just by itself (or with rice, falafel, pita, etc.) This is a huge bonus for BUF's halal food scene and I'm grateful to see the area support a refugee-owned business! I ordered a large chicken shawarma wrap. It was outstanding. The chicken was nice and juicy and the flavor and sauces they use here are fantastic. The shawarma is simple too, just chicken, some pickles, some sauces wrapped in a pita. No other vegetables being used as filler. The flavor does all the talking. You can also get shawarma over rice which I'll do next time. I didn't take a picture because the wrap was wrapped! It was good though. The gentlemen that was working whom I think is the owner was very friendly. The place is smaller but it does have a few tables but I think it's mainly a takeout place. Best spinach pies and kibbeh I've had in awhile. I've been there twice and plan to return. Service was friendly and efficient.

Come and support this family-run business! We came for takeout and our order was ready in just a few minutes. I ordered the large chicken shawarma which was 11 inches long. The chicken was deliciously seasoned and the pickles were SO crisp. When I asked what kind of pickles they were, he replied "normal, homemade". It also had a little garlic sauce on it but I wish there was more. Hot peppers were served on the side. Tip: get the large to save half for later. I also enjoyed half of a cheese bread and half of a Zatar bread with my shawarma, and would highly recommend both. I'm glad I saw baklava in the fridge before I left because I got some as well. It was made with chopped, not crushed, walnuts, and sprinkled with crushed pistachios. There's a few tables inside but it's small and warm inside because of the grill. Delicious food and great service at this nondescript restaurant. A friend and I ordered food to go - chicken and beef shawarma plus sides of stuffed grape leaves and falafel. While we waited for our food they brought us samples of chicken, garlic sauce and pickles which were an excellent and unexpected treat. This seems like a family owned restaurant and the people working were very polite. There are several outdated negative reviews associated with a pizza shop under this restaurant and that is definitely dragging down their overall rating. Got the large beef shawarma. I cut it in half to have for lunch and dinner. It was delicious with plenty of beef and some tomato. The sauce was tasty with enough to fully season every bite but not so much that it became messy. I wanted something warm and healthy for dinner so I ordered a grilled vegetable rice bowl and asked to have the tomato cucumber salad left out. I cannot eat cucumbers and I abhor raw tomatoes. So I was expecting an assortment of grilled peppers on a bed of rice, as per the description, which looked and sounded delicious. What I received was cold rice, raw red peppers, two limp chili peppers, a heap of tomato cucumber salad, and a WHOLE BUNCH of raw cucumbers and tomatoes. Well the hummus looked okay. At $15 per shawarma plate, the additional items shouldn't have brought the total to this amount, definitely feel like we got overcharged by quite a lot. While we appreciated the quality of the meal and the great service, the price was the most expensive shawarma I've ever purchased by far. I'm always skeptical about all of these new middle eastern food places popping up in Buffalo. Usually the gyro meat is the store bought frozen kind, the pita or other bread type is that thick store bought variety. THIS PLACE IS DIFFERENT! Immediately when you walk into the establishment you can see a Shawarma skewer which is a great indicator, but still their are many aspects that make a good shawarma. The young man behind the counter was very friendly and charismatic. The business happens to be a Syrian family startup, working hard to fulfill their American dream. It didn't take long for the food to be made. Within 5-10 minutes I was greeted with my hot, toasted, and aromatic chicken shawarma. The flavors were perfect, no ingredient stood out and they all complemented each other. The garlic sauce coats evenly so each bite has the garlicky flavor. The pickles are crunchy but not overly salty. The bread was toasted and chewy. I don't like overselling, but I genuinely believe this place has the best shawarma in Buffalo, and I will be a regular customer. read more

Tiny new neighborhood place in the Kenmore/Tonawanda area. My sister took me here (I am from out of town). We ate in and had 20 medium wings, which were very meaty, and not at all hot or spicy. If you don't like wings too hot the medium will be fine for you; actually they were kind of mild. Also had the chicken fingers sub, as it was on special. Nice with ranch dressing; I would have preferred chipotle sauce. Never had a chicken finger sub before; it's a cute idea for a sandwich. My sister had the homemade fettucine alfredo with scallops and chicken (the special was scallops and shrimp but Big Vinny's let her alter it). She was extremely happy with it and said she'd order it again. Lots of garlic and black pepper, and it was a huge portion for just under $8.00. The girl who worked there said it was her grandmother's recipe and my sister said it definitely was a homemade sauce. We had a sample of an unusual dessert, a sort of deep fried empanada filled with peanut butter cup cheesecake. Very gooey and sweet, and tasty, but very rich. Big Vinny's is in the building where The Pizza Palace used to be (until DeWald's came and went). Evidently five or more places have come and gone in this spot. I hope Vinny's makes a go of it and people support the place. The staff is very friendly and looks like they're really pushing to get the word out. MENU The menu also includes "Hispanic/Latino" and American cuisine, plus pastas, mofongo, pasteillos, salads, dinners, and calzones. Their sheet pizzas are very large (saw one right out of the oven that looked nice). DELIVERY They deliver during business hours. Not sure whether they charge a delivery fee; the flyer for their current specials says delivery is free, but their main menu says it's $2.00. Disgusting! First, I called to see if they delivered to my street and the girl said no problem. The delivery guy called and asked where the street was, which was aggrevating because the girl should have confirmed that they do delivery to my neighborhood. We ordered a large cheese and pepperoni pizza which was $9 with coupon and a chicken finger sub which was on special for $3.99. Upon arrival the delivery man told me the total was $21. I told him there was no way it should be over $16 or $17 with delivery and tax. So we had to wait to call to speak with someone because the line was busy. The man on the phone was nice and very apologetic and brought the total down to $16.21 and I still tipped delivery guy because it's not his fault they are disfunctional. On to the worst part... the food was horrible! The Ken-Ton area has some of the best pizzarias and and this one will not last. The sub was cold and covered in old iceberg lettuce, smelly onions, and hardly any blue cheese. The pizza had so much low quality mozzarella cheese on it that it must have slid around while in the vehicle (also no delivery bags to keep food warm). The pizza was slimey with a metallic taste to it, one bite and I was done. The rest was in the garbage. Do yourself a favor and don't bother. Tried to use a $15 "Deal Chicken" voucher and was confronted with resistance from the start. I wanted a specialty pizza since I had $15 to work with . They were out of pineapple when I wanted a Hawaiian pizza, and out of steak when I wanted a steak pizza. So I decided to just go with a standard supreme. They didn't know what that was and offered to charge me extra for each separate topping, $16 for a small supreme pizza? I went with a large single topping sausage pizza instead and drove over to tops to buy peppers/onions/mushrooms. Wow I waited 1hourand25 min for a delivery I had the stk and broc rab sub they were out of broc rab the stk was burnt which is odd because it said its cooked to perfection on there menu !!! No Italian bread just a sub roll for 12 bucks come on guys!!!! We live just around the corner and have ordered several items, either for pick-up or to eat in. The fettucini alfredo is like heavenly comfort food. Generous portions come with a decent fresh salad and roll. They said it's their grandma's sauce recipe and it's so good. We've had it 3 times. The pizza is very good; I really like their sauce. Actually the sauce on the wings is lovely, too - a more subtle taste than the typical Buffalo fare. I have tried a few items on the latin menu, the pestadillos and Rican nachos are excellent and a nice change of pace. We're surprised by the very negative comments - I suppose every new place has to work out some kinks but something doesn''t seem right. Is it possible that a competitor is trying sabatoge here? Great new pizzeria with a twist for Ken-Ton - a Cuban/Rican menu. The dough for the quesadillas and pastadillos is made with saffron, which gives a nice color and flavor. Everything is made fresh and with a definitely homemade quality. The owners/ chefs are friendly and go out of their way to please customers. Today i looked up big vinnys cause i saw that they won an award for best pizza.. i saw great reviews and a negative one but still decided to try them out i call them and asked them about their specials and they told me about their $9 cheese and pep pizza for that price i wasnt scared to try it i had it delivered with a double order of wings bbq and let me tell you it was amazing alot of places have that too sweet sauce and this one was just right nice amount of cheese... And the bbq wings were one of the best wings ive had .... Delivery was on time.. So i dont know why they recieved that negative comment as if someone maliciously was trying to slander them ... I was almost turned off by that negative comment by NICK F.
