I went to Middle C Jazz last night for a date. It was our second date and oh my gosh this place did not disappoint. My date and I both love jazz and this spot was recommended to us in passing. I am so glad we listened because it was absolutely amazing. The vibe is swanky and super cute. When you walk in the walls are lined with photos of different jazz artists including the performers for that night. It felt so classy and welcoming. There is a hostess at the front who seats you based on your ticket and yes you buy your tickets online. I saw some available on third party sites but we purchased directly from the Middle C Jazz website. The venue itself is intimate. I would say maybe 100 people fit comfortably. No matter where you are seated you can see the stage. There truly is not a bad seat in the house. Some tables are reserved like the couple celebrating their anniversary who were seated right in front of the stage. We were off to the side but the view and sound were still perfect. When you arrive you stand in a short line and then get seated. If you are a party of two you might share a table with another couple which I did not mind at all. They have small bites you can order and there is a little light on the table you tap when you are ready for service. I had the crab cakes they were okay and my date had the sliders. I also ordered a glass of wine and everything paired nicely with the music. And the music... wow. The band played for about two hours and they were incredible. That night was a Stevie Wonder tribute and they absolutely delivered. I hear different bands play each night which makes me want to come back again and again. It was my birthday weekend but we were mostly there for the date. Still it felt like the perfect way to celebrate without even trying. The sound, the atmosphere, the intimacy, everything was so cute and so well done. Parking was easy. There is metered street parking or a garage right behind the building for ten dollars. You can either pay inside the jazz club or at the pay station. Just a heads up the pay station does not take American Express so if that is your card of choice handle the parking payment inside. This was honestly one of the best nights I have had in a long time. The music was fantastic the venue was beautiful and the whole experience felt special. Anytime someone visits me in Charlotte Middle C Jazz will be on the list. I cannot recommend this place enough. read more

I enjoyed my first time at this location. We were almost seated on the side where we would've only had what I considered a partial view of the stage. Thankfully, we asked and were granted another option that was in direct view of the stage. The sound quality was really good as well. My only drawback other than the crazy prices was the constant back and forth crossing from the wait staff. I think the seating could be revamped so that the walking back and forth could be behind the last row and down the sides to lessen the interruption of the view during the performance. read more

My fiance and I came to Middle C Jazz for a special Valentine's Day performance and had a nice time! This was my first time ever going to Middle C Jazz. I'd heard about it for years and was super excited to check it out! We went to the 8:45pm show and it was sold out so it was packed. We arrive at 8:30pm and got checked in immediately but had to wait in a line to be seated. I knew in advance that you should come earlier for better seating since it's first come first serve. Amd lesson learned, because we had sucky seats lol. We were seated with another couple and they were nice. But we were seated in a back corner table so I had to sit in front of my fiance and turn my chair all the way around just to see the stage. So, the whole show I had to turn around and talk to him, which was hard since it was loud. So, we will definitely arrive WAY earlier next time. The check-in process was a bit al over the place too, so the beginning was just a little stressful. Once we were seated it got better. Our server was great, honestly all the servers were working so hard. They were awesome all night! The food they serve is from Dressler's and was really good. We tried the key lime pie and a trio dip situation. We also had a delicious bottle of wine!! The performers were Noel Freidline and Maria Howell. Maria was a phenomenal vocalist and entertainer. She has such an angelic voice and really made you feel right at home with her magical presence. The music was wonderful!!! We really enjoyed the night once it got underway. read more

We had a wonderful evening at Middle C! Norman Brown was excellent! We ordered Crab dip and Chicken wings, both were good, however, I was looking forward to their lollipop lamb chops! If you have never been...You MUST go and experience Middle C!! By far the best jazz club in Charlotte. (IMHO) I recommend going to the first show and the grabbing drinks afterwards! They do have food at middle c and it's delicious! We, however, attended the second show. I totally recommend getting there an hour early to check in and stand in line (if you're not a Baby Grand) tables are seated in the order in which you line up. Have the best time!!! read more

Came here while visiting a friend in Charlotte and had a great time. She's a "Baby Grand" member, so we got in the line for seating before the non members were seated, but we still ended up farther back than she's accustomed to being seated; she said she's always been seated in the front two rows, but we were in the third row of tables and we were seated with a couple we didn't know. Apparently the performance was sold out, so it was more crowded than usual and we were pretty far back in line and the venue is small and intimate. Most of the patrons were dressed nicely and were friendly. My friend was a bit annoyed that we weren't served more quickly; patrons around us were having their orders taken and delivered before we even saw a waitperson. Since it was my first and only time there, I had no expectations, so I just sat back and enjoyed the amazing performance! read more

I have been here a few years now and I really like this place. It is very intimate and the music and service were fantastic. They have an annual membership of 350.00 but I am trying to see how it benefits other than free parking, a small discount on food and a few 20.00 shows per year. Even with the membership you will be sitting with strangers at a table. My friend and I had two young women sat with us who were talking rather loudly from time to time and they sadly ended up jostling the table ans spilling water in my friends and I laps and cell phones. The staff came and bought towels so that I could clean up the mess. I would go again as the ambiance, the service and food were great. TIP: if you are not a member the seating is general admission, the doors open at 6pm so seating is first come, first serve. read more

The jazz is always on point, however, my husband and I have decided that we will eat before we come because the food is always leaving much to be desired. One experience, the spinach dip was mostly spinach and was very cheese-less and not good at all. More recently, the bbq chicken pizza was so void of sauce, I asked for some on the side to give it some flavor, the chicken tacos barely had any chicken in them, so little that I commented to the wonderful bartender, Tammy, why they were so stingy with the chicken in the tacos? Finally, my wings that Thursday tasted like leftovers from Monday and Tammy said the kitchen said they may have overcooked them and I asked, well why would you serve them to me??? The final straw was when I saw one of the servers bring out a plate, stop by one table and told the customer to reach onto the plate to retrieve a ramekin, (presumably some sauce if he ordered the dry pizza like I did) and then she walked away and took the plate to another table. I would definitely reject food that a server brought to me after some other person had reached onto the plate....that's just WRONG in my opinion and poor training. Although we will continue to be Baby Grand Members of this establishment, we will definitely not arrive hungry! read more

Many great musicians have touched the stage and I'm pleased to say I've enjoyed every single night here. Service is always on point and the owner is always involved in the mix. There was a table that was talking a bit too much during the performance and the staff quickly and professionally handled the situation which allowed everyone to continue watching the show. Big thanks to owner Larry Farber for bringing such a wonderful and much needed venue to a city like Charlotte. Every performance I have been to here has been terrific! The atmosphere is so intimate and perfectly conducive to this type of music. Recently attended the "A Charlie Brown Christmas" show (again), and it did not disappoint. Crystal clear vocals by the charming Tyra Scott and the expertly instruments by pianist Lovell Bradford (forgot the bassist's and drummer's names) made for an unforgettable experience! The service was great--prompt & friendly--and the food by Dressler's Improv Kitchen was satisfying. I love this place! I will continue to support this important venue and hope you will too! I have to say I am excited about Middle C. We just got there this past weekend but we saw a great show and look to see more in the future. The space is nice and parking is easy, just around the corner. Getting in was easy and pleasant but you may want to show up a bit early if you have a desire to get a closer seat. I will say there did not seem to be a bad seat in the house though. Our only complaint was the service. We waited 15min without anyone even looking our way. I finally was just going to the bar when I found someone to help us. It got a bit better but not a lot. Overall though this is a great spot. read more

Music is the focus, but the food is a grand accouterment to the vibe. The braise beef is moist, tender, and delectable. It's supposed to be a small plate, but there's nothing small about it. The crab dip was packed with flavor and, more importantly, cheese. I ate it up. It was delicious. They brought additional crustinis, too. I tried the paper moon; boy, was it potent. I love Middle C Jazz! They have different events throughout the year and are typically reasonably priced! I attended a few events here and the atmosphere is always a vibe! The service is really great and they have a light in the center of the table to grab a servers attention so that it isn't disruptive to the show. They have a small plates menu. I went with a friend and all together, we had the hummus, jumbo lump crab dip, and carrot cake and it all was SO good and fresh! This is a nice jazz bar located in the uptown Charlotte. I came here for a New Year's Eve event was very festive and fun and easy Chris great the drinks in the food is good and the crowd is overall a mature audience and classy crowd.
