Great spot in downtown Charlotte to hear live jazz music and enjoy Great small plates. They have a variety of artists appearing weekly so you need to look at their website to see who is appearing when. Service staff is attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. I highly recommend this spot for a nice evening out in Charlotte.

I enjoyed my first time at this location. We were almost seated on the side where we would've only had what I considered a partial view of the stage. Thankfully, we asked and were granted another option that was in direct view of the stage. The sound quality was really good as well. My only drawback other than the crazy prices was the constant back and forth crossing from the wait staff. I think the seating could be revamped so that the walking back and forth could be behind the last row and down the sides to lessen the interruption of the view during the performance.

Middle C Jazz is such a charming place, located in midtown Charlotte. I visited on a Thursday night to see the legendary Bob James, and a time was had! Walking into Middle C, I was immediately greeted by the amazing staff at the door. I was escorted to booth style seating on the side of the stage. This place has some size to it, but it still has an intimate feel. I ordered a glass of champagne and chicken pizza. The pizza was just okay, and I feel like I would've been better off with a simple dip or something! I hope to visit again one day!

My fiance and I came to Middle C Jazz for a special Valentine's Day performance and had a nice time! This was my first time ever going to Middle C Jazz. I'd heard about it for years and was super excited to check it out! We went to the 8:45pm show and it was sold out so it was packed. We arrive at 8:30pm and got checked in immediately but had to wait in a line to be seated. I knew in advance that you should come earlier for better seating since it's first come first serve. Amd lesson learned, because we had sucky seats lol. We were seated with another couple and they were nice. But we were seated in a back corner table so I had to sit in front of my fiance and turn my chair all the way around just to see the stage. So, the whole show I had to turn around and talk to him, which was hard since it was loud. So, we will definitely arrive WAY earlier next time. The check-in process was a bit al over the place too, so the beginning was just a little stressful. Once we were seated it got better. Our server was great, honestly all the servers were working so hard. They were awesome all night! The food they serve is from Dressler's and was really good. We tried the key lime pie and a trio dip situation. We also had a delicious bottle of wine!! The performers were Noel Freidline and Maria Howell. Maria was a phenomenal vocalist and entertainer. She has such an angelic voice and really made you feel right at home with her magical presence. The music was wonderful!!! We really enjoyed the night once it got underway.

Came here while visiting a friend in Charlotte and had a great time. She's a "Baby Grand" member, so we got in the line for seating before the non members were seated, but we still ended up farther back than she's accustomed to being seated; she said she's always been seated in the front two rows, but we were in the third row of tables and we were seated with a couple we didn't know. Apparently the performance was sold out, so it was more crowded than usual and we were pretty far back in line and the venue is small and intimate. Most of the patrons were dressed nicely and were friendly. My friend was a bit annoyed that we weren't served more quickly; patrons around us were having their orders taken and delivered before we even saw a waitperson. Since it was my first and only time there, I had no expectations, so I just sat back and enjoyed the amazing performance!

The food was very good. The service was outstanding and the ambiance was relaxed, but energetic and a great vibe. These musicians are incredibly talented!!!!!!!!! I could have stayed here and listened all night. I can't wait to return. Lots of tables and booths. Plenty of parking in the parking deck. Hospitable staff.

First time here but not our last, we had a wonderful time. Food from Dressler's Restaurant added to the enjoyment of listening to real musicians! Good food and a nice atmosphere.

    Absolutely Gorgeous and Amazing!!

Middle C Jazz Club Charlotte 70s Kids Solid Gold Tribute Band Absolutely amazing food Stellar (always) service One incredibly fun night FOOD Best beef short ribs anywhere Tried BBQ Pork Ribs this time, excellent Creamy, flavorful Mac and cheese Bruschetta trio (olive tapenade, roasted tomato goat cheese, best hummus I had ANYWHERE, with pickled onions on arugula and a sweet pepper) Crab Dip was PHENOMENAL Shrimp cocktail was so fresh, large and wonderful texture SERVICE Seriously, some of the best in the business, you have your own personal waitstaff - they are always positive, attentive, incredible service end to end from the moment you order a ticket to when you walk in the door, to when they bring you the bill to check out - Julio, Jacob, Jarren, CreeBri and so many others (we didn't see Teddy) we have never had an issue CLUB The new guests we brought to the club (as well as those that had come before) loved the entire experience, the environment, food - I happen to be a baby grand member which offers some additional benefits, like free validated parking, discounted beverages, small members only events, priority seating, and discounted tickets (only two) for members. If you love music? And the feel of a small New York City blues/jazz club with food that is top-of-the-line? It's worth the membership! BAND The two lead singers were out of this world. You could tell when they started, they were warming up, and just got better as the night went on! Not to mention, as they got to apx. middle of their set? They didn't even take a break between songs, they just rolled from one right into the other! We knew the words to every single song, talk about a throwback!! I think if there had been a small dance floor absolutely there would've been more people dancing in the middle of the floor. However, as you can tell? It didn't stop them from making a love train (song) dance line that eventually almost met and to end around the club! We really need a love train right now, it was an amazing night, I can't wait to see the band again and hope I can bring more of my soul family!

The best jazz spot in Charlotte! I came here for an event and it is a beautiful establishment! When you walk in you are greeted. There is plenty of seating at the bar as well as in the room. The performances were amazing! And they have one of my favorite restaurants serving food which is Dresslers! I ordered the spinach dip and a glass of wine! Two great items on their menu! I enjoyed my time here. It was very entertaining and a nice grown and sexy vibe. If you're looking for a date night with good food and music! I highly recommend!

I have been here a few years now and I really like this place. It is very intimate and the music and service were fantastic. They have an annual membership of 350.00 but I am trying to see how it benefits other than free parking, a small discount on food and a few 20.00 shows per year. Even with the membership you will be sitting with strangers at a table. My friend and I had two young women sat with us who were talking rather loudly from time to time and they sadly ended up jostling the table ans spilling water in my friends and I laps and cell phones. The staff came and bought towels so that I could clean up the mess. I would go again as the ambiance, the service and food were great. TIP: if you are not a member the seating is general admission, the doors open at 6pm so seating is first come, first serve.

Charlotte's best jazz location hands down. This place is a straight party if you are a jazz fan. Many great musicians have touched the stage and I'm pleased to say I've enjoyed every single night here. Service is always on point and the owner is always involved in the mix. There was a table that was talking a bit too much during the performance and the staff quickly and professionally handled the situation which allowed everyone to continue watching the show. The location is intimate with seating in a rounded form. Whenever I visit Charlotte, I always come here and will be back soon!

They want our music, but not our blues. Disappointing that they aren't willing to support a diverse community of voices.

Ask the Community - Middle C Jazz

Is there a house band? can one stop in after a scheduled show to have cocktails and enjoy live music or is the venue used for concerts only?

Does this place have a dress code? Because I would love to come but slick bottoms hurts my feet. 😂😂

I have seen guests wearing shorts and sneakers. Others come dressed to impress. I suppose that as long as you are fully clothed, you can come as you are.

Would it be reasonable to stay for an hour and a half and then head to a dinner or is it more of an all night event?

I would say it's an all night event! They do have small plates which are delicious! It wouldn't be a full dinner but would do the trick. The line gets long fast if you are not a member so if you went to the first show, you'd need to be done with… Read more

We were under the assumption that it goes towards the final bill the way the $10 weekday cover does, stated on the website. It did not. We paid the $20 in addition to our bill. This needs to be addressed on the FAQ page on their website, insane it isn't listed already. The drinks were the most meh drinks I've ever had. Their menu looks incredible, but the cocktails were so mediocre. Nothing special, I didn't even like my Pear Cosmo it just tasted like straight lime juice. Two of my friends got the Spicy Margarita and they tasted completely different. One was insanely spicy, the other wasn't spicy at all. Took 15 minutes for a server to come over and acknowledge and take drink orders. Seemed like lots of miscommunication on which servers had which table. As one would come over, the other would check in less than 30 seconds later. The vibe inside is cute but super strange that they didn't steam/iron the green curtains which are a big centerpiece for the room... you can see the crease marks on the curtains from where they were taken out of the package folded. Jazz band was awesome. However, for this being a lounge it was too loud. Couldn't hear the person sitting next to you talking because it was so loud. Overall, disappointed in this place, I had super high hopes as I love jazz bars and cocktail bars. I would not recommend to friends and probably would not come back.

Get there a few minutes early to get a good spot, and they do community seating FYI. With that, the drinks were not good. Everyone at my table hated their drinks, which let me know something is off. They turn the espresso machine off at night, which was disappointing, as the signs lead me to believe they served coffee all day. I thought that was kind of cool. Also beware of them putting the cover charge on your tab and then charging gratuity on it. Bring it to their attention! Sitting by the door on a chilly night was a little cold, as the traffic came in and out throughout the evening.

I just visited this club first time with a friend who asked company for the New Year Eve Countdown…read more He said there would be a buffet dinner and free champagne at mid night. That sounds great. I looked for a change this year as I was at Sheraton Hotel by the airport last year for the same purpose. Unfortunately, their TV broke and they did not fix it in time. Together with other guests at the bar, we did our manual countdown by watching at our cellphone. (Not much fun) Therefore, this year, I was looking forward something I coud really enjoy. We arrived Excelsior Club before 8:00pm to avoid long queue like some dancing places we went before. We were almost the first few guests got in. $30.- per person with no discount. (even I saw posters everywhere said member $20.-, guest $30.-) The place was already decorated. We ordered a drink from the cash bar and got a table. DJ was almost on time which was great. A long table at the entrance with some disposable set up (folks and knife, bowls) for buffet. Food was not served til almost 9:30 pm with only a tray of collard green and black eye beans and corn bread. Some guests could not wait any longer and started to get the food. A little while later, we saw a tray of fish crush (guests called salmon crush), a liver cake and sauage (all deep fried) ended up with a tray of scramble egg and grits, toasts and margarine and jam. I asked my African American friend if that was what a buffet in such style. He responded that was not classy at all. I ended up eating only my favorite collard green, black eye bean, two pieces of fish crush, scramble egg and grits. Obviously this was from outside catering (perhaps working as a side job to make some extra $$$) Not appealing at all. One point was even when we left at around 12:30am there were still food left, eggs and grits and toasts. I just imagined I was having fried chicken, meat balls, roast beef or ribs as their tradition. (Forgive me for expecting too much from $30.-) or perhaps they expect guests would have their dinners before they came. There was just DJs with no live band. A small glass of Champagne was come with the price just before midnight. Guests were enjoying the dance and the manual countdown with no big screen TV. The place was established in 1944. I believe there are dancers in other occassions. Perhaps a pot luck works better next time.
