This was my first visit here at Middle C Jazz club. The parking deck was perfectly located so you could come right down from the elevator. The staff from the entrance was welcoming with a smile and greeting. We were giving the option of a few tables. The waitress and wait staff were attentive and friendly as they waited on us. The service and entertainment were five stars from start to finish. The smallplates we had were all very good along with yummy cocktails we had. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was very cozy and elegant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Will definitely be back several times in the near future

My wife and I have attended four shows so far and all of them are well worth the cost of admission! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is excellent.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food is great and the service is excellent also! Everyone involved works tirelessly to make your experience absolutely fabulous from the servers to the check-in staff. Shout out to Ira. Jonathan Butler is next and what more can I say? I'm sure we just found our/my place to hang out and be grown and sexy! If you love world-renowned jazz musicians up close and intimate Middle C Jazz is the spot!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Intimate space for jazz lovers (for me its cool/smooth jazz).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very nice spot for date night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff was super nice professional and attractive! Parking is on the street or in the parking garage.

I went to Middle C Jazz last night for a date. It was our second date and oh my gosh this place did not disappoint. My date and I both love jazz and this spot was recommended to us in passing. I am so glad we listened because it was absolutely amazing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe is swanky and super cute. When you walk in the walls are lined with photos of different jazz artists including the performers for that night. It felt so classy and welcoming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There is a hostess at the front who seats you based on your ticket and yes you buy your tickets online. I saw some available on third party sites but we purchased directly from the Middle C Jazz website. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The venue itself is intimate. I would say maybe 100 people fit comfortably. No matter where you are seated you can see the stage. There truly is not a bad seat in the house.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Some tables are reserved like the couple celebrating their anniversary who were seated right in front of the stage. We were off to the side but the view and sound were still perfect.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When you arrive you stand in a short line and then get seated. If you are a party of two you might share a table with another couple which I did not mind at all. They have small bites you can order and there is a little light on the table you tap when you are ready for service. I had the crab cakes they were okay and my date had the sliders. I also ordered a glass of wine and everything paired nicely with the music. [[HIGHLIGHT]]And the music... wow. The band played for about two hours and they were incredible. That night was a Stevie Wonder tribute and they absolutely delivered.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I hear different bands play each night which makes me want to come back again and again. It was my birthday weekend but we were mostly there for the date. Still it felt like the perfect way to celebrate without even trying. The sound, the atmosphere, the intimacy, everything was so cute and so well done. Parking was easy. There is metered street parking or a garage right behind the building for ten dollars. You can either pay inside the jazz club or at the pay station. Just a heads up the pay station does not take American Express so if that is your card of choice handle the parking payment inside. This was honestly one of the best nights I have had in a long time. The music was fantastic the venue was beautiful and the whole experience felt special. Anytime someone visits me in Charlotte Middle C Jazz will be on the list. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Great spot in downtown Charlotte to hear live jazz music and enjoy Great small plates. They have a variety of artists appearing weekly so you need to look at their website to see who is appearing when. Service staff is attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. I highly recommend this spot for a nice evening out in Charlotte.

I enjoyed my first time at this location. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were almost seated on the side where we would've only had what I considered a partial view of the stage. Thankfully, we asked and were granted another option that was in direct view of the stage.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The sound quality was really good as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My only drawback other than the crazy prices was the constant back and forth crossing from the wait staff. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I think the seating could be revamped so that the walking back and forth could be behind the last row and down the sides to lessen the interruption of the view during the performance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Middle C Jazz is such a charming place, located in midtown Charlotte.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I visited on a Thursday night to see the legendary Bob James, and a time was had! Walking into Middle C, I was immediately greeted by the amazing staff at the door. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was escorted to booth style seating on the side of the stage.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place has some size to it, but it still has an intimate feel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered a glass of champagne and chicken pizza. The pizza was just okay, and I feel like I would've been better off with a simple dip or something! I hope to visit again one day!

My fiance and I came to Middle C Jazz for a special Valentine's Day performance and had a nice time! This was my first time ever going to Middle C Jazz. I'd heard about it for years and was super excited to check it out! [[HIGHLIGHT]]We went to the 8:45pm show and it was sold out so it was packed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We arrive at 8:30pm and got checked in immediately but had to wait in a line to be seated. I knew in advance that you should come earlier for better seating since it's first come first serve. Amd lesson learned, because we had sucky seats lol. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were seated with another couple and they were nice. But we were seated in a back corner table so I had to sit in front of my fiance and turn my chair all the way around just to see the stage.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]So, the whole show I had to turn around and talk to him, which was hard since it was loud.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So, we will definitely arrive WAY earlier next time. The check-in process was a bit al over the place too, so the beginning was just a little stressful. Once we were seated it got better. Our server was great, honestly all the servers were working so hard. They were awesome all night! The food they serve is from Dressler's and was really good. We tried the key lime pie and a trio dip situation. We also had a delicious bottle of wine!! The performers were Noel Freidline and Maria Howell. Maria was a phenomenal vocalist and entertainer. She has such an angelic voice and really made you feel right at home with her magical presence. The music was wonderful!!! We really enjoyed the night once it got underway.

Vincent Ingala; great entertainer and musician!

Came here while visiting a friend in Charlotte and had a great time. She's a "Baby Grand" member, so we got in the line for seating before the non members were seated, but we still ended up farther back than she's accustomed to being seated; she said she's always been seated in the front two rows, but we were in the third row of tables and we were seated with a couple we didn't know. Apparently the performance was sold out, so it was more crowded than usual and we were pretty far back in line and the venue is small and intimate. Most of the patrons were dressed nicely and were friendly. My friend was a bit annoyed that we weren't served more quickly; patrons around us were having their orders taken and delivered before we even saw a waitperson. Since it was my first and only time there, I had no expectations, so I just sat back and enjoyed the amazing performance!

First time here but not our last, we had a wonderful time. Food from Dressler's Restaurant added to the enjoyment of listening to real musicians! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Good food and a nice atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The best jazz spot in Charlotte! I came here for an event and it is a beautiful establishment! When you walk in you are greeted. There is plenty of seating at the bar as well as in the room. The performances were amazing! And they have one of my favorite restaurants serving food which is Dresslers! I ordered the spinach dip and a glass of wine! Two great items on their menu! I enjoyed my time here. It was very entertaining and a nice grown and sexy vibe. If you're looking for a date night with good food and music! I highly recommend!

They want our music, but not our blues. Disappointing that they aren't willing to support a diverse community of voices.

Ask the Community - Middle C Jazz

Is there a house band? can one stop in after a scheduled show to have cocktails and enjoy live music or is the venue used for concerts only?

Does this place have a dress code? Because I would love to come but slick bottoms hurts my feet. 😂😂

I have seen guests wearing shorts and sneakers. Others come dressed to impress. I suppose that as long as you are fully clothed, you can come as you are.

Would it be reasonable to stay for an hour and a half and then head to a dinner or is it more of an all night event?

I would say it's an all night event! They do have small plates which are delicious! It wouldn't be a full dinner but would do the trick. The line gets long fast if you are not a member so if you went to the first show, you'd need to be done with…

Is this a 21 and up jazz club?

I do believe it is. Yes, you must be of legal drinking age.

The live music was incredible and kept the energy going all night. I ordered the Espresso Martini and the Spicy Margarita, and both were perfectly crafted. We were under the assumption that it goes towards the final bill the way the $10 weekday cover does, stated on the website. It did not. We paid the $20 in addition to our bill. This needs to be addressed on the FAQ page on their website, insane it isn't listed already. The drinks were the most meh drinks I've ever had. Their menu looks incredible, but the cocktails were so mediocre. Nothing special, I didn't even like my Pear Cosmo it just tasted like straight lime juice. Two of my friends got the Spicy Margarita and they tasted completely different. One was insanely spicy, the other wasn't spicy at all. Took 15 minutes for a server to come over and acknowledge and take drink orders. Seemed like lots of miscommunication on which servers had which table. As one would come over, the other would check in less than 30 seconds later. The vibe inside is cute but super strange that they didn't steam/iron the green curtains which are a big centerpiece for the room... you can see the crease marks on the curtains from where they were taken out of the package folded. Jazz band was awesome. However, for this being a lounge it was too loud. Couldn't hear the person sitting next to you talking because it was so loud. Overall, disappointed in this place, I had super high hopes as I love jazz bars and cocktail bars. I would not recommend to friends and probably would not come back.

I had the blackened catfish with the same crawfish topping with garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli. We both greatly enjoyed our dishes. I was almost deterred by recent reviews regarding seasoning of the dishes. My wife and I are accustomed to eating spicy food. I am pleased to report that spices happily danced on my tongue as I savored my catfish. To finish off our meal, we shared a slice of warm pecan piece. Delicious. The wonderful food was coupled with pleasant enough service. Our waitress waited a little too long to return to take our order, but once she did I was surprised by how quickly our food arrived. We enjoyed listening to the three-piece Gator Band (drums, upright bass, and piano) playing jazz tunes while we ate on the second floor of the converted house that is the Cajun Queen's home. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

I just visited this club first time with a friend who asked company for the New Year Eve Countdown…read more He said there would be a buffet dinner and free champagne at mid night. That sounds great. I looked for a change this year as I was at Sheraton Hotel by the airport last year for the same purpose. Unfortunately, their TV broke and they did not fix it in time. Together with other guests at the bar, we did our manual countdown by watching at our cellphone. (Not much fun) Therefore, this year, I was looking forward something I coud really enjoy. We arrived Excelsior Club before 8:00pm to avoid long queue like some dancing places we went before. We were almost the first few guests got in. $30.- per person with no discount. (even I saw posters everywhere said member $20.-, guest $30.-) The place was already decorated. We ordered a drink from the cash bar and got a table. DJ was almost on time which was great. A long table at the entrance with some disposable set up (folks and knife, bowls) for buffet. Food was not served til almost 9:30 pm with only a tray of collard green and black eye beans and corn bread. Some guests could not wait any longer and started to get the food. A little while later, we saw a tray of fish crush (guests called salmon crush), a liver cake and sauage (all deep fried) ended up with a tray of scramble egg and grits, toasts and margarine and jam. I asked my African American friend if that was what a buffet in such style. He responded that was not classy at all. I ended up eating only my favorite collard green, black eye bean, two pieces of fish crush, scramble egg and grits. Obviously this was from outside catering (perhaps working as a side job to make some extra $$$) Not appealing at all. One point was even when we left at around 12:30am there were still food left, eggs and grits and toasts. I just imagined I was having fried chicken, meat balls, roast beef or ribs as their tradition. (Forgive me for expecting too much from $30.-) or perhaps they expect guests would have their dinners before they came. There was just DJs with no live band. A small glass of Champagne was come with the price just before midnight. Guests were enjoying the dance and the manual countdown with no big screen TV. The place was established in 1944. I believe there are dancers in other occassions. Perhaps a pot luck works better next time.
