The Music Yard (TMY) at SouthBound is auspiciously and fitly located on South Boulevard right between SouthBound, a taqueria, and Mac's Speed Shop (South End). The Music Yard defines their identity as "Charlotte's newest boutique for outdoor live music venue". I went to TMY last Sunday, 10/24/2021, to hang with some friends for "Sunday Funday" and of course, to view some quality NFL football. GO PANTHERS! The outside area has plenty of seating filled with high-top tables, benches, and individual seats for your contentment. The initial landing on the grounds of TMY is introduced by layers of small rocks, kind of gravel-ish, followed by green turf (fake grass). The DJ is positioned immediately to the left (if you're walking in from the main entrance) and he was jamming. So, if he's the "resident" DJ, then the music will be a hit every time. The Music Yard has a full bar inside which is eminently commodious and beneficial for groups and individuals with different tastes in spirits and beers. I am not sure if they have wine, so I take back my statement of a full bar, but they do have liquor and beer; don't be picky. ;-) The bartender that day (see photos) WAS AWESOME, ATTENTIVE, and UNDERSTANDING. When someone took my drink, he just gave me another one and said "don't worry about it". If you see him, tip him well because he deserves it and will take care of you. He has braces if that helps. :-) All in all, it's an excellent establishment with good vibes, 'vibin' music, and great drinks, company, and substantially awesome service. --------------------------------------------- Visit here for more information: https://eatsouthbound.com/the-music-yard/ ---------------------------------------------

I had my first night out at The Music Yard with some friends for the Drake vs The Weekend event on last Saturday and really enjoyed it. The night began with one DJ who played a good mix of hip hop that set the scene for people to talk and mix. The second DJ came in around 9:30 and started the music battle which got pretty much everyone on the dance floor. The Music Yard also hired a hookah company called the Shangrila Smoke Society that I really enjoyed. Our hookah was strong and flavorful and they replaced the coals without any hassle. We also grabbed some tacos and drinks from the restaurant for the evening; the brisket tacos were super tasty and we got 6 shots plus a drink for ~$80. Definitely recommend a night out at the music yard when the weather is nice!

Social distancing review: located between Southbound and Mac, I came here with a friend for the summer series. One night they offered a drive in movie for Pineapple Express. Everyone was required to wear masks except when in their designated spots. Servers assisted turff spots. Cars were all able to drive up and walk up to bar to grab food and drinks & They served food from southbound. Murals on the walls, lights and tropical folliage really added to the esthetic. I got a margarita pitcher with split it a friend and they were refreshing and juicy. I've seen on the summer series that this location is offering yoga, summer dance parties and other movie events. Pre-Covid they have live bands and an open area for people to sit when enjoying food/drinks from Southbound.

I used to come here often way back when, but not so much anymore…read more.. We revisited this place on Saturday with some friends to see this cover band, The Camera Eye, for Rush...and they were so good, I think I'm now a Rush fan (like my husband has been for years). It was good to see that this place is still hopping. The place looked about the same (a bit worn down, of course), but many more bar chairs and tables than in the distant past. Think it's been at least 4 years since I've last been here? WOW. Although I haven't been here in a while, I've always loved this place. It's spacious with several levels...and has such a cool, comfy vibe. Also, the light show and the sound system is really good! I also thought the bar service was really quick. Despite the huge crowd, I got served right away! Not sure if they still do raves, dance parties and special shows like they did in the past, but I remember some of the best times here. After seeing the stellar cover band this weekend, I'm thinking that this place is a keeper...and I hope to have more good times here in the future!

Parking was a challenge because I didn't really understand where we could park. I originally parked in the lot across from the nearby hospital until a staff member told me they tow very regularly. The staff recommended parking in the lot directly across the street. I appreciated that while we were waiting in line a staff member did an ID check which made things smoother when doors opened. The Visulite theatre provides water for free and had a few tables and chairs which is a luxury I really appreciated. You're allowed to bring food into the venue and I saw quite a few people with Viva Chicken from next door. Seating is first come first served seating but my wife and I were able to find two seats. The ambiance is a cool vibe and my wife and I loved the disco ball in the middle of the theatre. The concert itself was very nice and I definitely feel like I got my money's worth. The staff was great and the other perks mentioned above is definitely enough for me to want to come back and see someone else in concert.

The place has Latin music on certain nights of the month. Our friends like to practice dancing…read morethere and I liked to join them. Unless you arrive early before the music starts, the parking is terrible there and sometimes I feel unsafe to walk through those alleys in the dark alone. However the guard to the place has given me the worst impression without respect or common sense a few times that discouraging me to go there again. When I asked my friends if they experienced that, a few even said they had never been asked to show ID to go into the place. Perhaps we are Asian female and look strange. At one time, my friend came from other state and left her driver license in the car at my home. She showed that she had a copy of ID, We are all beyond 50's, the security said she had to have the real driver license. Come on give us a break? We had to drive home to get it. Last night, I went there myself, not only this guard examined my driver's license to see if that's real, check my bag and even asked me to open my jacket that was just an pullover. What authorities did he had? That's an insult to a female. Should this place hire a female guard for female as well? Someone is wrong with those guys. Been to many nightclubs in Charlotte, this is the worst I've come across so far. Been in upper management in law enforcement all my life, here I then find one who doesn't need to bring his head but his power to work.

Absolutely absurd pricing on drinks and I was threatened to get bounced if I refused the drink?!? I offered an alternative and he said no... Miss this spot entirely, rude staff and overpriced drinks!!!! I'm from Denver too, higher rent, higher median income, cheaper bars than this spot. Rabbit Hole? more like Shithole

(From June, 2023)…read more Charlotte's own amphitheatre/pavilion area for concerts and live shows proved to be a solid venue for live music experiences. I got lucky with getting a floor ticket for the Logic concert back in early June. Finding a spot in the lower right-side of the stage, I was pleased with the view of the stage and the performances which included Juicy J performing before the main act himself, Bobby Tarrantino aka Logic. The energetic crowd added to the festive evening; people mostly were well-behaved. If they weren't, security got involved quick which a lot of us were thankful for. Support your local security guards people! To arrive, I decided to walk from my hotel which is about a mile and a half and located in the downtown Charlotte area. Fortunately I was able to cut through the cemetery which took me to music factory blvd. After walking another couple of blocks, you're in the music factory section which includes several concert venues, some restaurants/bars, and a parking lot. Interesting concept in having multiple venues within the same vicinity. The amphitheater is on the eastern side and easily recognizable which made getting in and out pretty easy. I don't recommend driving here as there is traffic jams when trying to leave. Best to either leave on foot or hang out at one of the restaurants/bars until the commotion dies down. Logic put on a show and look forward to catching him again. Maybe back here again! We just parked in the first lot we noticed and paid. We were able to see our venue from the lot, but had no clue how to get there. Thankfully, we weren't the only ones who was lost. There was a nice amount of us, at least 15 who were just as lost as us. Lucky for us, a waitress from a nearby restaurant pointed us in the right direction and told us that it happens a lot. We, once again, walked around the corner, but went even further than before and saw the entrance. You have to go down a driveway, into a parking lot. There we finally saw someone directing traffic into a parking lot for the show. Once we finally got there, we were notified that our crossbody bags were too big. They needed to be smaller or transparent. I don't even recall reading that. So we had to hike back to the car. It's a good thing we got there early, but at this point I was tired. Went through security. It went off on me twice. I was wand down without a problem. We were directed to our seats. I noticed that we were next to the bathroom, but the only way to get to it was to walk all the way back up the stadium seating and go around the railing. There was no direct stairway close to us. We were sitting in the front row, closest to the bathroom. The performance was amazing. The sound was great. We sat close to the stage, by some of the sound equipment, and it didn't blare or boom, like some do. Perhaps because we're at an amphitheater, which is how it should be. The lights were perfect. The smoke and confetti did its job without drowning those in VIP. The physical venue, overall was great. Just wished there was a touch of easier access to the merch shop and bathrooms. Oh! The bathrooms are totally gender neutral. Like men and women were in the same space. I was surprisingly comfortable with this. I'm not sure if they set it up like this solely because of the performing artist, or if the venue supported the community. I love it. I just hope they also have separate bathrooms for those who are uncomfortable with it.
