A group of us went here to see Abacab... It's been so long, I can't even remember what my impression of this place was from way back...but I took a good look around this time. The place is a bit grungy and retro, but had a good, clean sound system. We saw the concert from the second floor, where they had these stools. Great view, but the backless stools were about as uncomfy as they could be! There was only 1 bar downstairs...but the bartender did a great job. I never had to wait more than a minute. Overall, this is a good, little band venue...and I'd love to drop at least 4 stars, but I felt that they needed a bit of renovation. Adding decent stools on the second floor, for starters? read more

Venue was easy to park near and the show was on time and Great. Love that Amos' is still the spot to welcome home local talent. We saw The Thurston Howell Band. It was Yacht Rock at its Very Best. Featuring some Charlotte Locals. So much fun and the band was absolutely Amazing!!!!! Go support this local joint. And make sure to go follow the band. So Good. read more

My daughter and I were able to come to town (From GA) to attend Troy's concert. The venue was amazing! Through a mix-up I thought I had purchased meet-and-greet tickets, but nope ‍. The staff worked with us and allowed us to purchase them on the spot and attend that event. They went out of their way with customer service to help us! The venue is small and not at all overwhelming for anyone who might have higher anxieties. Parking was super easy, just right across the street! The entire experience was fantastic! Thanks, Amos' Southend! read more

Everything about this place is bad. The bouncers are rude and push people around inside the venue. Took so long to get in. The drinks were shit. The food looked disgusting, vibe was terrible, speakers were terrible. Everything about this place is horrible. you can find much better places to go have a good time. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. The worst bar in Charlotte by far. Terrible at hosting concerts. Had bouncers walking around pushing people for no reason. Service was horrible. Ambiance was horrible. I didn't even want to try food because it looked gross. Go literally anywhere other than this place if you want to have a good time. Also, the bartender charged me for too many drinks and argued with me until I proved her wrong. Don't go here. If I could do zero stars I would. read more

For the first time I visited this concert venue on Monday for a show and it was great. It reminded me of the Belly Up in San Diego (Solana Beach). There was ample free parking 2-3 blocks away and it was safe. The venue allowed reentry with a stamp on your hand, so that was convenient. I liked the rock n roll posters on the walls and I used to have some of them like the Led Zeppelin one. They also had posters of Johnny Cash, Pink Floyd, Beastie Boys, NWA, Colbie Caillat, The Beatles, Woodstock, Pink Floyd, etc. The bathroom was surprising clean when I peed. It was easily accessible too. I spent most of the show upstairs because there was more room and it was less crowded than the floor. It provided a good view and enough space to breathe and relax without getting in anybody's way. The staff working at the venue was nice and on the same page. I'd be happy to return and experience another show some day. It was only $18 too. read more

Has always been a good, reasonable venue, reasonably priced, good service. However in recent months the sound has changed (not when bands use their own sound engr). The sound is terrible, rides VERY Heavy on the Low ends. You CAN NOT hear the vocals even in front of the singer. Nor the guitars or high end. Bands complaining, many attendees complain, but the words not getting to the management. Bands using their sound guy has a world of difference, take note, make change, cause it's looking like striking venue off list cause they can't get it right after months of waiting. read more

I liked Amos as a music venue! Hard to judge the atmosphere and the venue too much, because the experience really depends on the performance/band you are seeing. I was super excited to see the band that I saw so the venue seemed really great to me! Check in process was pretty easy. They do a very thorough search of your bags. Wasn't a fan of the card process to buy drinks. You give them your card and they give you a number but I guess it makes it easier with it being loud? Drinks were fairly priced and service was quick! The have plenty of space to stand in front of the stage and they have a loft type area where you can look sound on the stage as well. Would definitely recommend checking it out if you are looking to try a new spot or hear a show from a smaller band! read more

Just remember to take maybe 3 forms of identification because rude bouncers and ticket confirmation employees will tell you that your ID isn't real if you look even remotely young and you're WELL over 21 years of age. thats the last time I spend money for any event at this venue. read more

We had a great time watching a tribute band. I would recommend paying for the balcony and getting there early to ensure you're able to see.

Amos' Southend is a two story concert hall that showcases a variety of local and national musical acts. See their calendar online for upcoming events. The bartenders are very quick and personable even when it gets pretty crowded and the stage is very accessible. You can see the eyebrows, toenails and fretboards of your favorite artists. If you like to stay out of the fray you can hang out upstairs and see the main stage just fine. If you like being in the thick of things, the area in front of the stage (the pit) is small and separated from the stage by a railing. The liquor selection is spotty at best. And this is not a great venue for dancing as the entrance is right alongside the main stage area and there are sound booths and other things chopping up the floor where I think most people would naturally dance. But this may be a safety measure since it is a fairly large building. Hence only 4 stars, but it's a good venue all around to see a show. There is absolutely no seating, so wear comfortable shoes. read more

I used to come to Amos over 10 years ago for lots of shows and it was just ok but the updated space is amazing! Loved the great lights and sound. Band was lit well and sound was loud and mixed well as much as I know. The bartenders were friendly and so helpful. Beer prices were decent and a few local brews we're good to see. The second floor is great for people who don't want to be in the hustle and bustle of shows. read more

I really want to like this place but there are issues. Parking is a challenge. They are not handicap accessible. There is no seating unless you want to pay for VIP upstairs and again not handicap accessible. Please put in some seating. read more

I too, was surprised with how much I liked this venue. Came here on 4/4/14 to see Millennial (if you haven't heard of them, do yourself a favor and look them up). Amos' is much bigger than I expected, and there's really not a bad spot to stand/sit in the house. There is limited seating, very few tables, so be prepared to stand. The website is VERY helpful with parking. I'm glad I checked it out. There seems like there's a lot of parking, but some of it is two zone - red flag! I really enjoyed my time here, loved seeing the band, and the drinks were pretty good. (Check out the specials, and you'll be good to go). There are a ton of places to eat on south blvd too - so make a night of it! (And yes, bathrooms are dingey. Go before you get here.) read more

Never been here before and always wanted to give it a try but in full disclosure I'm not sure I've ever been lured to the place by an live music act that was going to be there. So this past Saturday night my girlfriend and I were looking for something a bit different to do and noticed a Guns and Roses tribute band was playing here and thought "why not?". I'll keep this review to the venue itself. Nice large stage area and what appeared to be two large bars to keep the drinks flowing. I noticed a little wait at the bars so even though the bar was probably a solid 30 feet long, only 2 bartenders. That's a lot of real estate to cover for anyone. One more tender would have been better. Beer selection wasn't the greatest but maybe I'm just beer snobbish nowadays. Either way, good venue, good lighting and probably will revisit on a night that has a band that I may be more into. read more

I was very surprised at this music venue. It's very deceivingly large inside! From the street it looks like any old shop, but the large room opens up with a warehouse type feel, but they have a good set up in there with bars, stage, and the sound booth in the middle of the floor. My only complaint was the bathrooms inside were all out of order... don't know if they did that on purpose, but you had to go outside to a bank of porta-johns which wouldn't have been too bad... but it was raining. Other than the bathroom situation, tickets are very affordable and it was a fun evening. read more

I'm so sad this place is going to be closing down! I've been here several times and can't believe I haven't done a review yet. I've never had any issues with parking. Going in and paying is simple to do. Drinks are easy to get. The venue isn't fancy but it's great for a concert. You can chill downstairs or go up stairs and have a nice view of the whole place. I'm gonna miss it when this place is gone. :( read more

I appreciate Amos because it books different types of music. It's a decent sized space. However, if it's a popular show you'll have to get there at least an hour or two before doors open to be up front. It's a busy street so there's a lot of traffic while you're waiting. Thankfully there are food places within walking distance so you can grab a bite while you're in line. I appreciate the staff. They were courteous. The bartenders are fast and are able to serve a lot of people at once which is helpful. The venue is wide open with few seats. It's like a lot of music venues that size. Depending on where you are, it can be difficult to hear the band. I was near the front for the opening act and heard everything near the speakers. When we went closer to the back for the headlining artist, we could barely hear. Granted, we were there to see the opening act so it didn't matter ;) Overall I would come here again. read more

I'm a big fan of Amos'. Love, love, love that it's so big inside, gives lots more room for big name shows that grace Charlotte. Sound is really good. The stage is wide enough for the acts & their bands or DJs. I've been lucky enough to be invited on stage by Dave from De La Soul. : ) There's also a balcony too, for even more space. The bathrooms leave little to be desired, but you can expect that from any place that serves alcohol. I can't speak for the bar, as I've never had a drink there. Charlotte is extremely lucky to have this musical venue gem! read more

Seems like this venue is unfortunately overlooked by many. The bar is always quick but drinks can be weak. The sound is good. Two levels means double the bathrooms and bar area. Security excels at doing their job while not being jerks. Their booking keeps you on your toes, because one weekend can have a bunch of cover bands and the next can have national acts. So, I caution the yelper to look further down the calendar if you don't see something interesting that day. read more

It is one of the best concert venues I have ever been to! Clean bathrooms and entire building! It feels like the building was built with the best intentions for the needs of guests and performers! I will start with the things I loved: the space--large, open, tall ceilings and a balcony upstairs. The venue was well air conditioned and the ticketing process was fairly quick. They have two bars, one in the back and one to the right of the stage, convenient for patrons and the prices are very reasonable for a venue which I loved. Sound quality was great and the light show at our particular show [Purity Ring back in May 2015] was awesome. The things I DIDN'T like mostly revolve around the people. Honestly, this was one of the worst show experiences I've ever had. For a concert on a Thursday night, after the two openers were coming to a close, the place was more then packed [sold out show]. We arrived right when the first band was coming on, the venue felt room and we found a spot about 2/5 of the way back. I'm not sure if Charlotte is full of giants or if the stage if just low for a venue, but dang, I could barely see at all, and I'm 5'6''. It certainly didn't help that EVERY SINGLE PERSON had some type of technology out and was taping the entire show or taking photo after photo. It did lead to some philosophical conversations post-show on where our generation is headed. Doubtful any of those people have watched a video or looked at one of those photos--other then to upload it to instagram or snapchat. The venue was honestly really great, but after the experience I won't be rushing back to Amos's Southend any time soon, especially not for a big name band. Half the audience wasn't even watching the show, they were staring at their phones, 1/4 were grinding on their partners, most had their backs to the musicians, and 1/4 [myself included] were standing on our tiptoes trying to enjoy an amazing musician ever unsuccessfully. I couldn't see myself rushing back. read more

Nice concert spot. I've seen Wu-Tang, Special Ed, Talib Kweli, Rudy Currence and other acts here. Great vibe. I love the balcony area, and the bartenders are great as well. The kind of spot where you get the best seat, by being in the balcony, since there's not many places to sit. read more

I like concerts. No, let me rephrase that - I LOVE concerts. I've been a frequenter of Amos' Southend since I invaded the QC 10 years ago and have seen acts from Hatebreed to Rusted Root. You can say, I've been here my fair share and I keep coming back! What's to Love: 1. Amos' isn't a genre exclusive venue. If you like variety, you'll love to keep checking back to see what bands are coming through. 2. There isn't a bad place to stand; from the balcony to the floor, you'll always find a good place to watch the stage. 3. The drink prices are very reasonable... $3.50 for most domestic beers. 4. The security doesn't play around; one look at them and you know that they're for real. You can feel safe and know that if something goes down, it will be promptly taken care of and removed. 5. Clear audio; I've never been to a show that didn't deliver quality sound. If you're looking for seating, sadly, this place will not be your cup of tea. Standing room only, folks! read more

This venue is set up like the House of Blues, red walls, black floor, a balcony, and plenty of room to mousy around. I went to see a few indie bands here last night and it was a great time. The second band's bass player looked like the freak from Aphex Twin and the guitarist looked like a mix between Jon Bon Jovi and one of the members from the Kings of Leon. Nonetheless all of the acts performed well, and the acoustics were great throughout the bar. The service was sweet (despite the crowd), but I would have liked to see people tip better. The crowd was full of hipsters and indie kids who showed lots of love for the bands. The speakers really kick here, although the sound guys really set the bass drum levels way too high. I would definetly come back, and I recommend the place to all music fans. read more

Granted I visited Amos' for a fashion show event but this is a nifty little venue. I love the multiple bars (always a plus when at an event) and the upstairs/downstairs set up. Drinks were reasonably be priced and well mixed. I finally made it to this Charlotte staple just a few weeks before it is set to close :( I actually really enjoyed this venue. I agree with other reviewers that it was bigger than expected. Small enough to feel intimate, but a more lax feel than some other indoor music venues around. There's also an upstairs with a railing that goes around the whole back of the room, which is super helpful to short people like me. There are 2 bars downstairs and what looks like a third upstairs (it wasn't in operation while we were there). I'm guessing it had to due with the type of ceiling and where I stood (the far back of the venue, upstairs), but I did find the sound to be a little bit muddy. It might have been different if I had been standing closer. They bring really good bands. Easy to get in, and also easy to get out despite crowds. Parking took a minute, but we found something without too much effort. It's a shame this place is closing because I would definitely go back. read more

Pretty great music venue - been here a ton of times. They have two levels which is nice for those who want to be in on the action and then those who want a more laid back approach. There are two HUGE bars on the lower level - so you are always close to a new drink. Staff is pretty nice, I've never had to wait long at all. and the drinks are cheap! Downstairs area is pretty large and fits a ton of people which is great. The only thing is the big sound/lighting box basically in the middle of the floor - can kind of get in the way, but doesn't bother me too much as I'm usually pushing my way to the front and in front of it. Sound is pretty great - never had any complaints like at other venues I've been to where you really cant make out anything. Bathrooms are meh...but honestly I've seen WAY worse at a venue. Overall - a Charlotte staple in the music scene. read more

I've been to Amos' twice, first a couple years ago to see Pete Yorn and more recently to see TV on the Radio. This is a great venue - small enough that you can really get close to the stage, kind of like the Orange Peel in Asheville. The floor isn't sloped like at Neighborhood Theatre or Visulite, though, so if you're relatively short and the crowd is tall, you might be better off up on the balcony if you want to actually see the performers. When it comes to sound,, in general they do a great job - learn from my mistake, though! It's in stereo, so if you stand too far up, off to the side (near the front bar, where I like to hang out in general) you won't get the full effect. read more

I went to my first hard rock concert here - I'm not a fan, but hey what one does on a date right? Anyways, my date prepared me for a dive, hole in the wall.....and I was pleasantly surprised. Maybe it was a case of lowered expectations, but I found Amos' to be pleasant and cleaner/nicer than I expected. I did not use the restrooms - they are quite confusing w/ no doors and lights to indicate male vs. female...ok maybe I take that back..it's not confusing, but frankly with a full bladder I don't want to have to stop to figure out which entrance to the restroom I should use. One critique - the bars. I do appreciate many bars - kept the lines down...but I got a vodka an redbull for $7.50...that seems high. I didn't even get to see what vodka he put in it. I doubt it was top shelf...and that price seemed high for the venue. 2nd bar trip...bar tender gave me the wrong thing. I ordered an angry orchard and got a summer shanty. Luckily my date was willing to drink the shanty. So I'll wrap it up here- I wouldn't hesitate to visit Amos's in the future. It was indeed A-OK to this yelper. read more

My friend and I came here for the PartyNextDoor concert. We knew it was completely sold out event but I was a little disappointed that even though we arrived early we waited in the cold for what seemed like forever. When we finally got inside I was surprised that the place was larger than I expected! So here's the deal, for what we paid the venue is completely fine. The sound was good and we got a great photos of the stage and the artist. What more can you ask for? One note....I'd suggest catching a ride since parking is super limited. read more

Amos's is a pretty cool place to catch some live music and has a nice unique vibe to it. The floor plan is pretty much wide-open, which is nice and makes the building seem so much larger and less claustrophobic when there is a big crowd. I'm a big fan of the balcony area, which is about the only place you can sit down while the stage is rocking. It gets harder to get drinks as the evening goes on, and the mixed drinks seemed to be a bit on the weak side, so next time I will stick with the beer. A good mix of regional and older national touring artists tromp through here, and the set-up allows fans to get really close to the stage area. Overall, a unique and cool place to catch a band on the rise or an old favorite. read more

I think the first time I set foot in Amos' was about eight years ago for a Seven Mary Three Show (Rock Crown is one of the best albums. Get it!). It was a lot different layout back then. And for the life of me, I still cannot finger out just where things were or how it was formatted compared to now. The bathrooms were over... and the bar was... and the tiny stage that... clueless. Coincidentally, I think my first show there after the renovation was another 7M3 show. Compared to what it was, the place was HUGE. The addition of the upstairs and multiple bars was nice, but the sound... oh the sound. I have seen it all there. Suicide Girls burlesque, metal, R&B, midget wrestling, hip hop, cover bands, and anything else that falls into my schizophrenic tastes of all things entertainment. Back in 2007, when Scott and I were starting Beards BeCAUSE, we needed a solid venue that could handle the local music firepower that we had for our Finale. It also had to be big enough for the shaving station and silent auction. I remember the shear panic I was feeling when John, the owner, told me he would be impressed if we got 250 to attend. We came close to doubling that (and then doubled THAT the next year!), which made him VERY happy and set the standard for our yearly event. The security crew are the biggest, most caring dudes that you could never pay me to mess with in a sticky situation. And the bar staff is always cool under fire with your next cool beverage at the ready. With a capacity of about 1200, it attracts all the mid-sized touring acts as well as opening their doors for the locals to showcase their talent with professional sound. Amos', as a venue, is a cornerstone of the Charlotte music scene, hands down. read more
