I came here on a date night and I was blown away with the experience. The environment is lit dimly and there is seating at the bar or in the floor area. I came in January and I believe this was their first weekend accepting reservations, so it was a little hectic, but everything soon calmed down. During the time I was having dry January, but the cocktail that I had was super flavorful and plentiful. A lot of times when you order a drink it is so tiny and not worth the money. I don't recall the name of the band, but they were phenomenal. All of the guests in the crowd were really nice. The lounge was not really packed because it was freezing outside and we were getting snow the next day. I had the opportunity to meet with the manager. She was very informative and sweet. I definitely look forward to coming back here again.

The cocktails were delicious, friendly staff, and the house band was amazing! Lovely & cozy atmosphere with an upscale experience. Such a great experience would definitely recommend and be going again!

A last-minute invitation from a friend led me to 88s Coffee & Cocktails, and I am so glad I went. The drinks were outstanding, the music was high-quality, and the whole place had a vibe that was both relaxing and inviting. It's the kind of spot where you'd feel comfortable going with friends, on a date, or even just by yourself for a quiet drink. The atmosphere is warm and intimate, with lighting that sets a perfect mood. The room was a lively mix of people in groups, couples enjoying a night out, and individuals at the bar. The drink menu is fantastic. My friend had their unique take on an Old Fashioned, which she said was delicious. I opted for the ginger cosmopolitan, and it was nothing short of delightful. The drinks are so good, you'll feel like you need to have "just one more." Just a heads-up, this place is all about the cocktails--they offer a small charcuterie board, but don't expect a full dinner menu. By the way, I didn't give them five stars is because of the community seating which is more common on busy nights like Friday and Saturday. If you prefer to keep your group apart this might not be possible. And of course, I would appreciate a heavier food option. Other than that I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

I came here on a Thursday night, and it was a $10 cover, which was not bad. The line wasn't extremely long, as I got there before 9 o'clock. Musical was great. I got to share my table with a couple, which is not bad. I went there as a solo date. Music was great. The space is very clean. It was just a great place to go. It was a nice spot to go to with friends or solo. There was a food vendor that was there who It was a little late. I think food is very much h needed because the drinks are a little bit strong. There's no guarantee for food vendor every performance night so I suggest you eat before you go. But other than that, I think it's really, really good. I definitely can't wait to go back on another night.

Enjoyed my time at Eighty Eights in Charlotte! It's a nice jazz location . The ambiance is great and so easy to the service. There is no food and that was the only drawback!

Listen ! Add this spot to the very top of your list ! I stopped by here yesterday morning for coffee & my friend had an espresso martini . The ambiance captures you at first sight walking in the door & the young lady behind the bar was super friendly and attentive and when she noticed me inside taking pics she pointed out the old school phone booth that had inside which I was not aware of at all thanks to her ! . My matcha was unexpectedly phenomenal , I ordered the strawberry matcha with oat milk . My friend said it was the best espresso martini she had so that was a plus ! This spot transitions into a jazz club in the later hours so I want to make my way back for that alone. Perfect for a date night out for sure and I'll be back !

Located directly next door to the Independent Picture House, Eighty Eights is a rather impressive, post-indie theater experience mood & vibe. I opted to stop by for holiday cocktails after my holiday film viewing and the Jazzy Ginger Snap that I selected did not disappoint. Bourbon forward, with perfectly balanced touches of gingerbread, chocolate, & cinnamon--with excellent service & live music as the backdrop? I'll definitely be back!

Not a great first impression. Came here on a Saturday night with a group of 3 girls. The line was long and they were only taking people "at capacity". We were promised by the bouncers that our small party would be accommodated next but as we waited over 30 minutes there were two different parties of 2 and a single person accommodated because they were "smaller" parties. One of the parties of 2 walked right in without even waiting. Super frustrating. They put bigger parties (anything bigger than 2) on the back burner regardless of wait time. And then they want to charge a cover? Everyone in line was upset watching parties of two just walk right in without waiting. The most annoying part: the party of 2 that was let right in upon walking up was seated next to us at the exact same table size. So clearly we could have been let in before them but we were told they were accommodating based on "party size" only. Also the bar had 6 open seats when we got to our table. The good parts- their menu has at least 6 different espresso martini drinks. I had the blond ambition (sweet & very creamy) but pretty decent. The revolver (basically a bourbon old fashioned) was the best drink we had. The Hugo spritz was also well liked by our party. With such great cocktail spots in Charlotte, I'm not sure these prices were favored. The music was by far the best part. The only reason we waited. The ambiance was nice- dark, moody, intimate. Service was slow but they were packed so that's to be expected. Another aspect I liked was the parking situation. They have their own lot which is nice but if you Uber here (like we did) there's nothing else around within walking distance so be prepared to wait on a weekend night.

It was whole vibe! Hitting the Queen City streets in style -- happy birthday season! Whether you're turning up at Eighty Eight's CLT or just making the city your playground, hope it's nothing but good energy, great people, and unforgettable nights live music and charcuterie .

CALLING ALL JAZZ LOVERS!! Charlotte has welcomed this amazing new cocktail jazz lounge and let me tell you, it's a whole vibe! Best of all....NO cover charge! the service was great, drinks tasty and music amazing! They open at 5 for the 21+ crowd for cocktails, and live band starts at 8. They will eventually have coffee shop items during the day. I highly recommend getting there early to find a seat because the place is small and intimate. There is free parking but the lot and streets can fill up quick. I'm so glad Charlotte now has a chill lounge to relax in without being limited to a ticketed show that only last for abt an hr and half like other jazz venues.

Eighty Eights was such a cool vibe! We came for their opening weekend (which had a line out the door!) and had some delicious martinis and listened to fantastic music. It's a perfect place for after dinner cocktails and to relax. It was one in-one out seating when we arrived, and when we were brought in we had to stand until other patrons left, which led us to question why they didn't just wait longer for us to be able to sit or let us in earlier if we were going to be standing anyways. Regardless, we will be back for sure!!

Absolutely love this new spot and will be coming regularly! This was my first time and we came on a Friday. Live music started at 8 and we got there around 7 or so, which I would recommend getting there early to get a good spot for the live band. We had time for conversation and drinks before the show. There's a small cover for the music, which we gladly paid. $10 is totally worth it for the music and entertainment. The Harvey Cummings Trio was there and they were such a vibe!!! I believe it was their first time there and I really hope they will be back. The cocktails were all tasty - they have a blend of your classics, espresso drinks, and unique craft cocktails. There's also a seasonal drink menu. The service was quick and the employees were so kind and gave great suggestions. Highly recommend you check this place out, if you haven't yet! Great date night spot or just for a night out with a small group of friends!!

Set warm up.

Wow what an experience! I'm in Charlotte for the weekend, and my good friend's colleague…read morerecommended we come here after dinner for drinks. There's outdoor seating, and initially we wanted to sit outside but we didn't have reservations. Luckily, they seated us at a small corner section near the back of the bar. It's very cozy and intimate inside. Just my type of vibe. The service was top tier. They were unable to validate our parking because of some sort of discrepancy with the signage outside and lack of having the proper equipment for validation. To make up for it, they offered us complimentary champagne to start. We were not expecting that, and pleasantly surprised! Their menu has an eclectic selection of cocktails, both full and mini. We opted to order from the mini cocktail menu, and we each ordered two drinks. I had the Creepy cucumber cocktail and it was refreshingly sweet and probably my favorite drink of the night. I also ordered the Don't Shy Away which was a sour and spicy rum concoction with carrot in it. It was definitely spicy and had a puréed texture. I really enjoyed it. And, then don't get me started on the music!!! The dj was masterful. He played all the types of music I love and he mixed them in such a refreshing way. I ended up asking him for his contact information before leaving, and whether he does weddings because my fiancé and I are currently looking for a DJ. He was just that good. This would definitely be my spot if I lived here in Charlotte. It was the perfect way for us to end the night.

It's a small intimate setting and I do love the dark aesthetic they did. Gives it a swanky vibe and makes a great date spot. But they were burning incense in the tiny space and it was overwhelming. The other bar guests sitting next to us agreed. *They did finally pick up on it and the staff moved it toward the kitchen door* Staff was friendly as well, though, it was busy and looked as if they had a trainee in tow, so attention was lacking just a bit. So why we came: The drinks were average to me. One was weird (Pineapple Fried Rice) and I just couldn't get it sit well on my palate - and I tried - sip after sip. But the mixologist saw my struggle and swapped it out for a different one. I did like the Don't Shy Away - it was an interesting take on a margarita with a strong carrot base. The Whispering Dove was a take on a Paloma and I couldn't find the lemongrass infusion on my palate. So I found it pretty basic, but pricey. So overall, decent. And I might stop buy if I was stuck in the area again.

This place blue my mind…read more I was visiting my best friend while in town for a conference on amusement ride standards. We had a reservation for Blue Door for Saturday night, and it was amazing. Now while she was vaguely aware of their "spirited kingdom" menu, I had NO CLUE. It was the best surprise! They have such a cool menu with a full theme park map containing 4 lands with 4 cocktails each. The cocktails all match the type of ride they are, it's honestly such a cool idea, and it was so well done. I loved the art. I will say, I was skeptical that all of their drinks would actually work and worried that they'd be too caught up in the theme to make results but . . . Oh my goodness I was so impressed by the drinks here. I think a lot of bars these days can get so caught up in trying to be unique that their drinks become nearly undrinkable. This place definitely doesn't suffer there. They brought us an aperitif when we came in, but unfortunately I have a blueberry allergy so we skipped that. We had 4 drinks between the 2 of us and they were all awesome. I ordered the star breaker and the green dragon (what can I say, I love gin and a good coaster), and they were both balanced and tasty. My friend got the diablo and the neon shift, and they were both fantastic as well! The neon shift was served with a black light too which was super cute. The one drink I have to call out specifically is the green dragon. There was something about this drink that was so unique, I have genuinely never had anything like it but I would order it a thousand times over. It's so good. It keeps me up at night. It haunts my every bar order. I will be writing home about it. What else can I say about this place - the service was great, the atmosphere was fun, and the DJ was amazing. I thought "wow this guy really likes sax covers" only to look over and see him PLAYING HIS SAXOPHONE LIVE?? Iconic. This place was perfect and I wouldn't change a thing about it. The spirited kingdom menu will only be around for 6 months according to the waitress, so definitely catch it while it's there! If I'd heard about it sooner, I would've maybe descended upon them with 200+ theme park engineers in town for the conference (maybe it's a good thing I didn't know they were there until after it was over), but instead I will just say DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND MAKE YOUR RESERVATION NOW

The menu this time is theme park theme... again, a fun concept but not well executed. Pretty overwhelming, especially with the bartenders explaining the menu to us twice with the same spiel there is too much to look at it makes it difficult to pay attention to the drinks. I really did not love my drink (starbreaker?) you could only taste the lychee The bartenders not a vibe, it was not that comfortable to sit at the bar. They now serve food, hotdogs... which do NOT match the vibe at all, so that was interesting that their only food (other than the free popcorn) is not hot dogs..

It was a Friday night two weeks before Christmas, but it was only 5:45pm so I feel like we got lucky. We were able to walk in and be seated right away. We ordered cocktails and embraced the tapas menu, ordering too many things to sample and share. We sadly had to leave some of it behind. Our waitress was a sweetheart and though the restaurant space was big and open, the warm wood and exposed brick inside made it feel welcoming and cozy. There was enough room between tables that we didn't feel crammed in and the table was big enough to hold all the delicious goodness. I felt like two top tables can sometimes barely hold your water glass and bread plate. We head to Charlotte pretty regularly for various things, and I would like to bring our teenage boys back sometime. I think they would really like the menu and style of the restaurant. Nice enough for a quick date night before and event, but casual enough that I feel like we could bring the teens and not have to "dress up".

As for the current menu: I really like the watermelon caprese salad, scallops, and curry chicken tacos.

We did make reservations for a Monday night, though it wasn't busy at all, so you could probably swing by on a whim should you want to during the week. The place was a bit elusive to find, as you have to look for the '3 dot sign' with a staff member guarding the door, which I'm sure is the intent! Once you enter, you walk down a long, candlelit hall, which sets the speakeasy mood right away. Upon entering, the classic speakeasy vibe hits you! Dim lighting, leather chairs, a beautiful bar stocked to the brim with whiskey, bourbon, scotch, and all the other good things you would expect to find in a place that prides itself on great cocktails. It certainly set the mood and got us ready to have an experience. The mixologists were welcoming and informative. I enjoyed my first drink, which was suggested based on my personal preferences in taste. It was a spin off a classic, and I really enjoyed it. Sort of like a cross of a penicillin and a whiskey sour. [The Never Ending Story]. My friend had the clarified punch since we had similar things we've loved in the past. It was slightly sweet, smooth, and easy to sip. We decided to just get some classics since the cocktail menu felt more like just off shots of other classics we love. They were both excluded well! But the thing that really blew us away was the food! I was really pleased with this portion of our evening! We had the crispy Brussels sprouts, and they were the best BSs I've ever had!
