This review is solely based on a event I attended. Attended an Afro Beat event here. Venue is small with limited on site parking. There is free side street parking if you come early enough to snag one. The DJs and people were a VIBE. Everyone was dancing and having a great time. Service was SLOW. They only had 2 bartenders and tbh, that took up about 45min in itself just to get a drink. I feel like for an event, at least 3 bartenders would do the trick. The thought of having to wait that long at the bar jist to grab a drink, made me not want yo drink. I only got 2 and called it a night with drinks. Bartender wasn't too friendly. No wine and water is in a self serve jug which half the time it was empty and you jad to fight your way through the crowd just to get a cup of water. If they would have more bartenders, they would make more money but maybe next time. The venue was nice, very hot so we ended up outside just dancing. This is a very interesting concept to have a bar and coffee together but I actually liked it a lot. It is strictly just coffee and alcohol so they have a food truck right outside for people who want to eat while they are there, or I've seen other people bring food from other places before coming. They house the ravens club to watch the games so it was a lot of ravens fans (including me) and I loved it. They also had a dj which made it so fun. I decided to get an iced latte with almond milk and sugar free vanilla syrup and it was actually pretty good. It was $6 so it wasn't bad compared to other coffee shops. It's war a fun experience and I'd love to come back next time I'm in town. read more

We came Sunday for a football game. Great atmosphere. No food served, but they did have a food tent outside due to the game. Not a ton of seating but you can definitely see the game as it was broadcasted on multiple screens. Not a lot of parking next to the entrance, but you can park on the street. read more

I've been here for 1 other event before, but this is my new spot for Ravens games. Went on 10-3-21 & it was good to be back with fans I've watched other games with at another spot downtown. Bar staff was friendly. There was a mimosa special. After getting a regular, I asked if I could substitute pineapple juice for orange; they didn't hesitate. There was only an issue when I closed out my tab. The mimosa special was posted as $6. However, my receipt showed them as $6.50. When I brought it to the bar staff's attention, she said she didn't know. Told her I wasn't trying to make an issue over 50 cents, but it was clearly posted just a few inches away from us. She gave me the difference between my total & the posted price in cash. I gave more right back to her in the tip. Some wouldn't have given a tip especially since there wasn't an apology & the attitude was pretty much oh well...but I'm planning to return for future games. Located on the north side of NoDa this cool little bar has a sort of punk rock vibe. I came in here for a few beers while I was waiting to meet some friends nearby. Natalie the bartender was super friendly! They have a stage set up and apparently they have a lot of live performers and events. The areas around NoDa have grown considerably the past couple of years and this area around the sugar creek light rail station is a perfect example. You have a bunch of new bars and restaurants popping up and it has turned into a happening little neighborhood and crown station makes for a great little neighborhood pub. read more

Went there last night. Seven double vodkas came to $138. No joke. Drinks were cheaper when I lived in New York City. Crown station is a perfect example of a bar where you need to ask how much something costs before you buy it. On top of that, last night's female bartender was very rude and you could tell she did not wanna be there. I feel royally screwed and will not return. It's a shame, because they have a kick ass DJ on the second Friday of the month. read more

Crown station is pretty cool if I may say so. It has coffee and a bar, always a plus. I like the layout of the bar, seating all over-indoor and out, plus a stage for live music! Great!! They have a nice corner with couches (not the most comfortable-but whatever). I would love to experience outside sometime, but it was too cold when I went. The staff was very nice, very helpful. The service was excellent. The parking sucks...sucks. The lot is awkward and it's hard to get in and out for sure. Oh well, it's free...and manageable. New location is super chill. Walking distance from N. Dav and 36th, but probably easier to drive. Very diverse music. Cool bartenders. All around awesome spot. I've only been to this location twice, but had awesome music. One night was a bunch of DJ's and some MC's. The other was this guy called Aarondynamics. Some kind of funky looping. Anyhow, the music they pull is solid. I expect more to come. As per the layout, its pretty straight forward and easy to navigate. Its not deep, but extremely wide with plenty of room to go belly up to the bar. The old CPCC location had the coffee crowd during the day and plenty of the beat nick style crowd later on. I'm not sure if that's what you should expect in the future. But, I'll surely stop by again to find out. read more

Pretty cool new spot in Noda! This area is definitely on the up and up and Crown Station is a cool new addition. Located next door to Deejai. I really like what they did with the inside. It's a pretty open floor plan with a few couches in the back corner and a few pub tables; in addition to smaller tables, probably used more during the daytime hours. Crown Station doubles as a coffee shop and what I could imagine would be a pretty cool spot to come and grab a coffee and get work done. I came here at night to check out the bar. I didn't end up staying very long as my friends elected to check out Bold Missy Brewery across the street. I had food brought over from Deejai and enjoyed a cold PBR with dinner. The PBR took a surprisingly lengthy time to order compared to the number of people at the bar, but I think this was more the result of the bartender being friendly and carrying on conversations with customers. There is also outdoor patio seating which is always a plus. Live entertainment in the form of a comedian was preparing to take the stage before I left so I'd be interested to know how that turned out. read more

The newest addition to The NoDa Market! The decor is a nice mix of wood, concrete and brick. They have a full bar and quite a few beer taps. You can also get coffee here! They have a full barista station with mochas, chai lattes, etc. I am excited to get a coffee and relax on the patio this upcoming fall! One down side, they do not have food. I thought I read this was going to be a pub. I was hoping NoDa was getting a place with some English tavern style food. I really wanted some Guinness stew or fish n chips here. I loved this place. I was in the area by chance and thought - I should grab a drink while I have a few minutes. I hadn't been to NoDa in a while. I thumbed open my trusty Yelp app and found this place. I had no idea what I was rolling into. I found a bartender looking the spitting image of late-era Freddie Mercury (complete with thick mustache, short shorts and muscular/thin body). He was welcoming, happy, great with a quick quip, and, well, fun as hell. But he also was not overbearing - sweating down my beer just to see if I needed anything. The bar had 2 TVs I could see. No Masters on - which was a bummer - but it wasn't a Masters kind-of-bar scene. Instead, they had Hulu (I think) and we could choose whatever to watch. On one TV was what I think was "Anchor's Away" (an oldie but goodie) and on the other was some new animated film (like "Open Season" or something). But the real entertainment was not on TV. The greatness of this place was the decor, atmosphere and patrons. So much to look at. So many different kinds of people to meet and talk to. Dogs to pet. Stories to hear. Songs to be sung - loud and proud. And, unlike most bars, everyone seemed...happy. They genuinely seemed happy to be grabbing a drink at a neighborhood pub with people who would listen to them and have an enjoyable moment or two. No sour grapes or sad sacks here. For my purposes, a drink at a bar, it was an outstanding and highly memorable experience. Instead of a quick few minutes and a frosty beverage, I stayed for almost 2 hours and found much more than alcohol. I found a place I could truly wish to return to. read more

The return of Crown Station is very welcomed. And I'm glad they chose this nice spot in NoDa! They have a great space here (definitely larger compared to their last place on Elizabeth). They have large roll up windows that really give it an open feeling during the summer and plenty of natural light when they are closed up during the winter. They have a really cool comfy corner where you grab a coffee during the day and get your work done or grab a nice cold drink while talking it up with friends during the evening. They always are hosting some type of event featuring lots of local talent and most of the time benefitting a local charity. They serve up coffee and have a full bar with a solid amount of taps for local craft beer. They serve coffee late into the night which is awesome because you can't really find a coffee place like this anywhere else (that isn't mainstream). The bartenders are super nice and eccentric and know their coffee and their booze. Very friendly and ready to serve! All walks of life can find something for them in Crown Station. They've got games and also plenty of outdoor space to hang around outside when the weather is good. Just a short walk away from 36th Street Station on the light rail. Technically it's a little north of "heart of NoDa" but with all the great businesses opening up North or 36th Street. The heart of NoDa is just growing larger! If you get hungry step next door and order from the Noodle Shop. Excellent food and CS encourages you to eat it while drinking a cold brew from the bar. I have been to this place a few times for various events. Each time I felt like the staff didn't want to serve me and my melanated friends . Well yesterday I was looking for a made up spots and meet someone and it was late evening. Since Crown station advertises themselves as a coffee house we decided to meet there. It was after 8 o'clock and there was only one guy working behind the bar. Don't know his name but he had long hair. He said he didn't really know how to work the machines he doesn't know anything about the drip. We went ahead and tried to place an order but once we ordered with almond milk it was a no go because they didn't have. It was clearly on the menu on the wall . SMH we just left and went to Amelies. Crown Station is a pretty cool bar. The patio is really nice, they have Jenga, Corn Hole, and plenty of picnic tables. I was there for a day party and the prices were pretty good. They have seating on the inside and outside, the seating is off to the sides so the middle of the floor is pretty open. The bar also has coffee, a major plus. Located right next to railroad tracks, making a good spot for pictures. Overall, it was a good experience. read more

I came here several times this past football season to see Patriots games due to not receiving the channel at home, and they were so accommodating for such an annoying request. AWESOME... that is about all you need to know. This is a great addition to NoDa. There are awesome beers on tap, a full bar for mixed drinks and if you're the DD you can get coffee! The bartenders on Sunday, September 2 were extremely rude. The guy who was supposedly the manager was working solo at first. He was obviously overwhelmed and he flat out told us that he wasn't going to make our drink. I guess it was too complicated given the number of people at the bar. So we decided to order a more simple drink. About 90 mins later, a lady bartender who didn't really work there came to assist. She was also very rude. She took our credit card and never made our drinks. The manager defended her, gave our card back and told my husband to "fuck off and go be a dick elsewhere." I was appalled at his language. I've never been spoken to like that at a place where I spend my money. We either wanted our drinks that we waited so long for or we wanted our card back. Very simple. The lady also slammed another patron's card on the counter. I've been to this place several times and never experienced service like this. Wow, very unprofessional. No matter how busy you are, it is never OK to speak to patrons in this manner. There are so many other places in Charlotte to hang out. I will NEVER purchase anything from here again. I only come to this establishment to support a local DJ and I will reconsider ever coming back here again. read more

This was probably my 4th time here since Me and my wife we come here to support a local DJ. Last night Sep 1st we went to have a drink and support our local DJ, clearly we acknowledged the bar tender who happens to be the Manager (Ryan Amstrong) was alone and was overwhelmed .Ryan told us he wouldnt make our mixed drink without any explanation ( We figured maybe because he was alone), and we decided to go with a drink from the cooler to ease the stress on him .On our second round of drinks they took our cards among other customers and kept them without serving our drinks with no communication whatsoever while they continued taking orders from other customers who probably had cash . I politely asked about our drinks as a reminder , and we were ignored .30 min passed while demanding our card back since we didn't get the drinks, and Ryan slammed the credit card on the table and said..fucking take your money you dick head, and go spend your money elsewhere .I politely took my card and left .Never in my life have I heard such language from a business .I will never step in this establishment, and so did all the clients that were treated rudely tonight .Yes, it's a stressful job, but there was no need to respond in that manner .All we wanted to know was why our cards were being held so long without getting our order of drinks .Communication is important, and this was not the way to communicate. read more
