Took my car for oil change. Tried to book appointment through online but did not get confirmation email. So called and person picked up the call and he handled my frustration very well. Name is Bryan and when I went for services, he was at counter. He was cheerful, very courteous. Basically, I did oil change with tire rotation. Mechanic asked me "there is some Nosie coming from your car and suggested diagnostic, for which I am going coming Wednesday as they were short of staffs. Did not ask for other services so can't tell about prices but I am sure they wont charge more. read more

I joined yelp just to write this review, that's how annoyed I am at this place! Brought my car for an oil change with a coupon cuz it was a great deal. However, less than an hour after dropping my car off, they called me frantically to tell me my "battery was cracked and leaking acid ALL over". I don't know much about cars, but this sounded odd. Especially since my car is only 2 yrs old. The guy proceeded to tell me the car was very dangerous to drive. I jokingly asked if it were going to explode or something and his actual words were "its possible, yes it could explode". Since I'm still under warranty at the dealer I called them and they suggested I bring it in for a second opinion because a "cracked battery" is not a common problem. So, I brought my car to the closest dealer and the mechanic walked to look at the battery with me. It turns out absolutely nothing was wrong with my battery. The guy at the dealer advised me to never go to that midas again and said he thought the guy who said there was a crack might actually have been smoking crack! I know mechanics try to take advantage of "young stupid girls" but unfortunately for them I wasn't fooled and saved myself close to around 150 dollars. Don't let them fool you, better yet, don't go there at all!!!! read more

My go-to mechanic for oil changes, tire issues/rotations, headlight replacements, general maintenance etc. They have always been friendly and are pretty efficient. They are always sending coupons in the mail too. When my car needs an oil change head I will generally head over on a Saturday morning and the wait usually ranges from around 20 min to an hour tops when they are very busy. [On a side note, they even repaired a hole in one of my tires once for free after remembering that I had come in a few days earlier for an oil change]. read more

A terrible experience with another mechanic reminded me of the pleasant one I had here. Several months back I came here for an oil change because I had a coupon and also asked that they take a look at the breaks because my stop time seemed to take longer and I hadn never had them looked at. The mechanic took a look at them and then said the pads were almost completely worn down (metal on metal) and the roters were grooved. I'm no expert, but I do know enough about cars to tell if I am being scammed, so I asked if I could see them and he said "Sure." Let me actually look at the pads they had taken off and the roters and sure enough they were in really bad shape. I asked about the drums and he said "We CAN replace them, but there isn't a real NEED to at this point." Not too often you find a place that will say something like that. After we went over everything I asked what the price would be for the oil and filter change, the pad and roter parts and labor and all that... $341... more than I was able to spend right then, so I asked if I could hold off on the brakes and come back later. The mechanic said that he wasn't comfortable putting the car back on the road with the same brakes, so he said he'll see what he can do. After calling his manager and talking it over, he was able to drop the cost of the oil change altogether (called it a fluid top off) and made some other smaller adjusts ments to get teh price down to $300 after parts and labor. read more

This place was great. Counter guy very friendly and personable. Came in last minute with a flat tire. I had already put the spare on to be able to drive to Midas. Not only did they fix the tire promptly, they put the spare back, all the associated items and put the mat back. A+ read more

Brian and Tony are two of the nicest businessmen I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Their technicians are excellent. This is a busy shop. They will do their best to get you in, on the rack, and on your way. The best part was being given an estimate on the spot and you decide if it's a go. Most places I've dealt with hit you with a minimum charge from the door. They explain clearly what needs to be done. read more

An abomination in customer service. Took over 7 hours to get my car back when originally I was assured 2 hours (maximum). Was lied to repeatedly & never even received an apology, only excuses (never even admitted that they messed up, only kept blaming ME that my car wasn't ready). The girl at teh counter, Ilena, was unprofessional, rude & yelled at me. Tony was in charge of my car & kept lying about the state of my car. Please never use them. I wish I could talk about their mechanics, but, due to their horrible customer service, I left before they changed my oil. (And judging by the other reviews, this is probably a good thing.) My brother had a bad experience with them where they quoted him one price to get his car to pass inspection, then fixed several other things without his permission (and tried to charge him double.) I, however, still went there to get an oil change because it was within walking distance of my house. I was also quoted 2 hours and, because it was in walking distance, I left the car there and went home. After two and a half hours, I came back to find my car still in the same parking spot i left it. It hasn't been touched. I even hear the Manager tell a mechanic, "No the Honda was supposed to be next." He tells me that I'm definitely next and it will be another 45 minutes. We got into a small argument because I was no longer taking his word on anything and I ended up taking my keys. I then speak with the manager. He claims that he didn't know I was waiting for my car. (So I guess, he assumes everyone likes to have their car at the mechanic for as long as possible.) Then he claims that they work on the cars when they come. I explained that this wasn't true, since I heard the guy say I was skipped. So then his story changes and he claims that the people who are waiting get priority over those who 'drop off' their car (which also is a screwed up way to do business). So, which is it? Do the cars get worked on in the order they come in or do you screw the people who aren't there watching you? Needless to say, I left, went to Jiffy Lube up Route 10 and had my car in and out in less than 30 minutes. Don't bother going to this place unless you have the time and energy to basically stand over the mechanic's shoulder to make sure they actually fix your car! read more

Had some trouble with a Lynnes Hyundai, and I came to Midas as they take excellent care of our corporate fleet. Brian gave me the number of Towne Hyundai (car under warranty) and called to tell them I was coming. Towne corrected the life threatening problem that Lynnes said did not exist and did not even charge me. I bring my friends and family to Midas and Brian. He is honest and extremely professional and so is the rest of the staff. They bend over backwards to make you happy. read more

I had a horrible experience with Midas in Whippany, NJ. I spent a lot of money on my car and thought the issue was resolved when I got my car back. I explained to them that the issue was not fixed correctly and Brian and the Mechanic insisted that the car was fine. The mechanic took my car for a test drive and said there was nothing wrong with it. When I pulled out of the driveway, the felt the car hesitate and returned back to Midas. This time I drove the car with the Mechanic and he quickly apologized. They said they put a cheap part in and ordered a better one. In my opinion, that's a major screw up, they should know what is good and bad. I will never go back to them again. read more

Desperate as i realized my brakes were on there last few stops, I stopped in. They were closing in less than an hour on a Saturday. The owner was there with a couple if guys. My brakes were shot, I had ignored them for far too long. While we waited for parts the owner took my online to my car manufacturer's pages and showed me how to be more proactive about car maintenance in general. They did a great job fast and honest people. They also do small general maintenance. I will go here for whatever I can. read more

I was referred to Midas in Whippany by a friend who gets his car work done there. I had a tire problem with my Audi and the representative Brian was really great to work with and had great follow-up. The work was done well and on time. I'll definitely be back! read more

This place may not be for everybody. They don't greet you with a smile or ask you how your day was, but they change your oil quickly and cheaply. Better yet, they don't try to sell me other stuff like batteries and windshield wipers every time I go in like they did at Jiffy-Lube. $20 oil change with no hassle. read more

This place is absolutely horrible. Customer service is awful and the guy at the front desk is extremely rude. He treats customers as he feels he is entitled to because we need his service. We DO NOT! That is why I am writing this to warn you. They said the car will be ready in 2 hours but 8 hours later it's still not ready. They did not fix the cars in the order as they came in and I feel discriminated. If you have all day to wait still DO NOT bring your car here. They are very nice and professional on phone. I ignored the bad reviews they have got and brought my car to them for regular brake service. They turned it into a $900 bill. They scared me into buying services that I absolutely did not need. The manager was very rude and hostile when I tried to use a midas coupon. I told him I will give him a bad review - he said he does not care he knows how to "manage" online reviews. I felt scammed. Will not go there again. read more

This is something I never do.....I never review anything but.....These guys are honest and explain in layman's terms exactly what you need and what your options are......I personally drive over 20 miles to have my cars serviced by these guys....they get the job done quickly and right!!!! read more

I came to Midas for the first time a few years back, when I desperately needed two tires put on my truck. I went to probably 6 other shops and tire places before Midas and each one refused to do what I needed because I was providing my own (brand new) tires. Each shop tried to sell me 4 tires, saying they can't mount the tires due to the car being 4-wheel drive, and that I had to purchase 4 new tires through them first. Finally came to midas, and met Brian, who said he'd get the job done without any problems. Within an hour, tires were mounted, and I was on my way. I've come back to this Midas 4-5 times since, and have had nothing but wonderful experiences. Brian is an incredibly friendly and honest manager, and I highly suggest asking for him. I've been returning to get alignments, tire/wheel swaps, and send all of my family and friends here. Truly the most honest, and fair work around. read more
