Ed! Went here for a safety check…read more I am very meticulous & careful with my vehicle so when my brake light didn't come on I was confused. Ed took the time to see why it wasn't working correctly & I had shared with him that earlier in the day I had removed my spare. He noticed the wires weren't connected properly (from the place I just left) allowed me to reconnect so I wouldn't "fail" inspection & have to take another day to come back to redo it. So grateful to Ed! I get free safety checks thru the dealership but to me it's worth paying to get in & out instead of having to drop off my vehicle for the day. Totally worth the extra low cost. Thank you Ed you really made my day. Appreciate you so much!!!

Review for Safety Check only -…read more The shop opens at 7am and it is a very popular location to get your safety done. My suggestion, if you're in a hurry in the morning, you're better off coming at 530am to be at the front of the line. I arrived at around 630am and I was the 5th car in line waiting. I waited till about 845am before it was my turn. So if you're thinking it'll go by quickly...it does not. So dedicating a good portion of your early morning to get your safety check done is a must. There's only one guy who's able to do the safety checks so being patient will go a long way. I believe the only days they don't do safety checks are Wednesday's and Sunday's. As long as that one uncle is in working, they're able to do it. Been going to this location for years and have no complaints about this specific service. $26 and they take both cash and card. Also please be aware of the curb in front of Hi Runner's next to Oil Changers. I seen a few people drive over it and scrape the underneath of their car lol.

Making a same day appointment on line for a tire replacement was the best thing and then it went…read moredownhill from there. On line, the tire I wanted was available, but when I went to the store, was told that it wasn't in stock, but Pearlridge had 1 and Kaneohe had 2. I told the person helping me I would drive to Pearlridge but was weary of going to Kaneohe on my spare. I was told only 1 in stock at Pearlridge which meant it could be 0, so I asked if they could call to verify. There was a lot of hesitation, said they're probably really busy right now so not sure anyone would answer. I needed a replacement, so I ended up with a higher priced tire which was OK, but disappointed that the person helping me couldn't explain how this tire was different from the one I originally wanted. We completed the transaction, then I asked, so 1-2 hours to complete (I told him I had an online appointment when I arrived)? They laughed and said, uh more like at least 3. The tire was actually done in 1.5 hours which made me happy, but once I drove away, the low tire pressure light remained on. I went to inflate my tires and come to find the brand new tire was at 25#, the only tire below spec. What a disappointment.

It was time for my 60k maintenance on my car and I really needed to get it done. I honestly put it…read moreoff for a while because the estimated cost from the dealer was astronomical. I'm talking $800+ for the "recommended" service given my car's mileage. Things are already rough for us local folks... $800+ would have been impossible. I'm also not a "car guy", so there's that. Thankfully, my wife took her car to Car Geeks before. I remember her showing me the multipoint inspection report with photos, recommendations, and suggestions for which actions to prioritize. I appreciated that the Car Geeks team provided that. Making an appointment was pretty straightforward. I told them what I needed and they answered my questions (I was particularly concerned about cost). I showed up to my appointment as scheduled. They completed the multipoint inspection and went over the recommended actions (brake fluid flush). I also received the results from the inspection in a link via text message. Once I agreed to the additional service, I approved it on the web page. However, in order to get the work done, the team needed to remove the tire for access. I explained that, unfortunately, my wheel lock key had not been returned by the previous shop I went to. In fact, it was my second set that was not returned. The Car Geeks team reviewed options with me again. They asked if I wanted to wait until I got the new key, but I said that was unlikely and I've been wanting to just switch to regular lug nuts to prevent future headaches. No problem. They were able to get that done for me as well. The team also kept me updated regularly during the visit. By the time the work was done and paid for (definitely not $800+), I was both impressed and thankful for their clear communication and teamwork. Even though I'm not a car guy, I felt like I was in the driver's seat the whole time. I was very satisfied with the work and will return to Car Geeks for future work. Mahalo nui!

My husband and I will be bringing our cars here as they easily could've charged me or taken advantage of my situation and they didn't. They saved a girl money, time and stress. They also educated me on what the signs would be if my cold line were leaking and I really appreciated it. Thank you Car Geeks!

Normally this is something I'd tackle myself, but this time I knew I needed someone with the right experience to handle it. Capital Auto came through. They were able to squeeze me in first thing in the morning after hearing I needed the car back up and running so I could get back to work the next day. That kind of flexibility and customer service goes a long way. The work was done quickly, professionally, and gave me peace of mind knowing it was handled correctly. Fifteen years is a long time to trust a business. That's how long I used Capital Auto Service…read morebefore deciding I would not return. The original owners earned my loyalty through honest, professional service. Both experiences described here happened after new ownership took over. The first was last year, when I paid for an oil change that included fluid top-offs, then found my coolant reservoir dry. They corrected it, and I gave the new ownership another chance. This time, my car wouldn't start, so I had it towed in. I approved the repair charges for 25% more than other shops quoted, including an additional $35 for genuine BMW parts that I specifically requested instead of the aftermarket parts initially quoted. Despite repeated requests, I never received a written estimate. The shop recommended a new battery, so I bought one and brought it in. I didn't have the tools and asked for help loosening and tightening the fasteners. They agreed without mentioning a charge. The help took about 15 minutes. At checkout, they presented a card terminal showing the total before giving me an itemized invoice. Only when I asked for a breakdown did I discover a separate battery-installation charge for $158.00. Had they told me the price beforehand, I would have bought my own tools and handled it myself. When I questioned the charge, I was asked whether I expected them to work for free. I was willing to pay for their time and offered a reasonable amount. What I expected was the chance to agree to a price before the work began. The final bill also included a $42 "shop supplies" fee that was not disclosed in the phone conversations. The repair involved replacing the belt and tensioner, but I received no explanation of what supplies were used or how the fee was calculated. I felt that they were inflating the bill. The prices quoted over the phone excluded taxes and fees, leaving me without a clear total before approving the work. Another employee told me that if I wasn't happy, I didn't have to come back. After 15 years, that was difficult to hear. I felt dismissed for raising a reasonable concern about their lack of professionalism. They ultimately removed the unauthorized battery charge entirely, and I give them credit for correcting the bill, I still paid for these unexplained supplies. Still, the lack of transparency and business courtesy changed how I felt about doing business there. I'm sharing this because even a longstanding customer relationship is no substitute for a written estimate and transparency. Confirm every additional charge before work begins and review the itemized bill before paying.

I had shown up early one morning, without an appointment, hoping to get in for the service, as my Ohana were visiting and I wanted to take them around the island. Kainoa got me in immediately and the usual hour and a half time allotted for an alignment went by more quickly than expected and we were on our way. There was a part I needed to replace in the back tire, which the mechanic found during the alignment. After a few weeks of waiting, the part came in and I took my car back to American Tire. They took care of everything promptly and efficiently. Even gave me a ride home (because they weren't too busy and had an extra person on the clock. This service is not usually provided, just fyi. Because we're the experts and we care about your safety, we take extra care when inspecting your vehicle and tires. We gain trust by doing what is right. We built our business based on trust and avoid anything that will break that trust." This is false advertising. My husband went there for a simple service regarding his tires. He agreed to their premium price. Without going into detail, there was a serious safety issue with my husband's car. My husband informed them about the problem; however the representative was reluctant to investigate the problem. The representative stood by his "experienced service staff." So my husband went to a reputable tire company to investigate the problem. The company discovered and concluded that American Tire Company negligently installed the tires improperly. Moreover, American Tire Company installation standards are generally set for commercial vehicles and NOT according to the specific type of vehicle that requires service. There is a sign in their office disclaiming that they are not responsible for any damages to the owner's rims but they claim to be very careful. Now I understand why they posted that disclaimer in the office. I issued a complaint with BBB. American Tire Company failed to offer any reasonable settlement. The Honolulu location is not trustworthy. I remember when the company was on Colburn St. when the company first started. SHAMEFUL! ! ! Maybe this location suits commercial vehicles only. "Quality repair services" ..."perform accurate and friendly auto repairs and tire services" is false advertisement. "We maintain a culture of respect, honesty, and commitment that extends to our people; both internal and external." These are all false statements in their website. "Caveat emptor! ! !" My advice is ....don't go to the Honolulu shop.
