After many years of using Capitol Auto Service, I can honestly say they still provide great service. A couple months ago, my truck would not move when I tried to put it in gear. I need it working as soon as possible and Capitol Auto told me they didn't do transmission repair. They referred me to another business but they wouldn't be able to take me for over a week. I found a place that said they would take it that day and areanged a tow. The tow truck driver told me it wasn't a transmission problem which was good news. Still, I sent it to the shop I had made arrangements with. They took my truck in and called to tell me that it would cost, "at least $3,000" because they were going to have to rebuild the whole back end. It was Friday and they told me they would give me a better estimate on Monday. On Saturday, I received a quote via text for $1,600 which included a $300 diagnostic fee. Anyway, I paid the $300 and had my truck towed to Capitol Auto. They checked it out and found a cable that had come loose. They connected and secured it and road tested the truck. They found no other problems. I asked how much my bill was going to be and they did not charge me! Who could ask for more! Capitol Auto is simply amazing! I went in for a brake fluid flush ,cabin air filter change and engine air filter that was recommended by the dealership. I was recommended to Capitol by a referral because I didn't want to pay what the dealership quoted me . I'm so glad I found Capitol Repair because not only they have friendly service but reasonable rates.. and a clean and spacious waiting room with a very clean restroom. They also have complimentary Keurig coffee . I called for service and I appreciate all the text reminders they send . I also didn't have to wait one or two weeks but got an appointment couple of days after I called . The day of my appointment was also very fast and friendly service. Went there for an oil change. I had an appointment and arrived early. They were able to take me in right away. They have a nice waiting area with WiFi and water and coffee. The oils change was quick. I also needed air in my tires because my lights were on in the dash. Everything was quick and easy but they didn't put air in my tires. Requested service today here on my 2008 Nissan Pathfinder. The lead technician was very reluctant to run a scan for an ABS light that was on but did do it. It told him that there is a faulty ABS sensor but he did not want to deal with it or do a physical inspection. Do not bring your used vehicle here. I do not recommend these people. The vibe I got from this place is that they cannot be bothered to help you. There are much better mechanics around that will do quality work on your used vehicle. read more

i had my annual free service at the one and only bmw dealership in late April for my second year of having my '23 x1 performed. Though it comes with the first 3 years of free service, tire rotation is NOT one of them. When I asked the service writer how much would the tire rotation be, he told me that 'tire rotation and balancing' would cost $214.75. I thought I heard wrong as he had said it my each numeral so I had him repeat it, then he said it as '$214.75'. I kind of gasped at that figure and told him, i will go have it done somewhere else. I later asked the Ass't Service Manager why would it cost that much, and he said it in the way as a 'high-end' car dealership would say it: "as like similar high end car service dealerships in the area", their hourly labor rate is $300/hr. He went on to say if I just wanted to have the tires rotated, they "can do it for just a little over $200". That brings up the question, so does that mean it only cost about $10 for the balancing on all four tires??? Don't kid me! Ha! Spent a few weeks fuming at that reply by email from the person and thought of alternative places. Hmmm, yeah there is that service place on Waipahu St that is just ewa bound of Waipahu Depot Road, so I called them on a Friday afternoon about 1:20pm... no one picked up so being a Virgo, I left a descriptive message asking what would be the cost to to just rotate my tires on my suv. Did I get a call back that day? Did I get a call back the following week? Did I get a call back the following, following week? The answer was 'NO'. Heck, will never do business with them ever... everyone *knows* 'first impressions ARE lasting impressions'. Fumed almost two weeks later and forgot about Capitol Auto Service! Shoots, they did so many aftermarket installs to my previous 2017 Mazda hatchback so I decided to try them for the tire rotation (my MSport came standard with summer tires, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S). Since I last came to Capitol Auto Service in 2022 (since i sold my Mazda in Jan 2023), the following was no longer showing on their website... where one used to be able to set an appointment date and time AND also give an alternative date and tie for the services one wanted, this was no longer the case. So I called and was so happy to hear Kawika's (the Ass't Manager) voice once more (man... you don't know how refreshing to hear his voice and that he was still there)!. He quoted me $35 for the tire rotation... I was surprised at the price! He then turned me over to their receptionist/cashier (that position was not there since I went here almost 3 years ago) and she set it for a couple of days later. Going to the shop, I was surprised to no longer see the 'drive right in sign with the arrow in the second driveway into the shop. So I decided to park in the outside parking area---hmmm, more parking stalls available than i remembered, why? As I walked out, I saw their neighboring business was no longer there, but there were now several vehicles inside--- are they also part of Capitol Auto Service? Anyway, within 12 minutes of my appointed time, they drive my suv into one of the service bays and work on rotating my tires. Within 20 minutes, the young man who serviced my vehicle was done. In the meantime, I was chatting with Kawika as he came to do some inputting on the computer just outside of the waiting area (as I sat on the one and only chair just outside of the room) and he told me, yes because they now also have the adjoining business room, they no longer have neighbors so that's why there is no need to drive right into their service center. Ahh, makes sense...! Paid my $35 plus tax (so nice they don't nickel and dime you like some places--- here that, bmw dealer?) and only charged 15 minutes for their service (based on the hourly $140/hr). The mechanic who serviced my car drove my car up to where i sat, where they always stop and give one's keys to you once you've paid your bill and said to me that he also checked my tires' air pressure and that all had the proper air pressure reading. I left happy, so VERY happy and hope to bring my vehicle back after my 3rd and final year of free (limited) bmw service comes up next April 2026. Kudos to Capitol Auto Service! Capital Auto did a great job on our vehicle repair if AC on one car and the tire sensors on 2 others as well as determining that my husbands car needed a transmission repair and referred us to another good company that did the repair. We now bring all 3 vehicles for normal maintenance and any repairs that are needed. They don't try to tell you that you need things you don't! Reputable company for sure. I have been using CAS for several years now. I switched from another local garage chain because I was seeking reliable, efficient work, and researching the various reviews and ratings convinced me to give them a try. For the most part I have been very pleased thus far. It's mostly been scheduled services and light repairs, but they are very timely with their work to the point where I pretty much just hang out in their air-conditioned waiting room with tv. The garage itself looks very professional, organized, and clean. Their website is easy to use, but if you want to make appointments using their online method, give yourself at least several days ahead of time of the day you want to select, to allow the shop adequate time to respond and confirm. Otherwise, call. As for the actual maintenance and/or service of my vehicle, I have been very pleased with the results. Even better, I haven't had to return soon afterwards because of any issues, which is primo for me. Prices seem reasonable, and regardless, I don't mind paying for what I've been receiving. read more

As a first time customer, I was asked to fill out a form with my info and the concerns for my vehicle. I waited for nearly an hour in the waiting room before I was given an update about my car. Damian was very patient in explaining the repairs as well as the cost. He was also kind enough to offer to me a ride somewhere (one of their staff was going to make a trip to buy parts) as the repairs would take several hours. I thanked him, but politely declined and ended up taking a Lyft to my home. They called mid-afternoon to notify me that my car was ready for pick up. Check out and pick up was quick and efficient. I was referred by a friend, and awhile ago I had recently a car issue. I came here to have it serviced and turns out it was a minor fix. There was no charge for that. I had another car issue and couldn't figure it out. I came here again and was informed my shocks( struts) were worn down. I could ignore the sound and keep driving, but I plan to keep this car forever and went ahead with repairs. This place is busy and good thing they could schedule right away. Excellent friendly service and amazing turn around time. My first visit was for new brakes and a mysterious "clunk" that would happen intermittently when driving. They quoted me quickly for the brakes and said they'd diagnose the noise. Brakes were done in a timely manner and they were able to locate the source of the clunk, damage to the lower control arm articulating points, and they were able to straighten it out and now the clunk is gone. I also go to them for safety checks because I feel having an appointment is easier than waiting in a line. I'm in and out very quickly, never had any issues. My most recently visit was because my A/C had stopped working and I took it in for a diagnosis. They found the leak in the evaporator and I was able to schedule a repair day, I was asked to drop my vehicle off as soon as they opened so they could get to work on it. I looked into it and the removal and replacing of a evaporator is some major work but they were able to complete it the same day. I am very happy with the quality of service Capitol Auto provides and feel that they're very honest and amazing at what they do. I will be back for any future work needed on my vehicle. read more

Came here to try and fix an oil leak I had noticed in my vehicle as I was having to top off oil about once a week. They gave me quote for repair (engine oil separator, timing cover, timing cover chain gasket) and requested a down payment of $700 to order parts which I did so over the phone. Brought the car in once parts had arrived a couple weeks later. I picked it up after the repairs had been done and I noticed on my invoice that the $700 I had put as a down payment weeks earlier was not itemized. And then within a day of picking it up, I noticed it was still leaking so I brought it back and they then said it was the oil pan and gasket so then that was also replaced at an additional cost. I then brought it to the dealer under the guise of a normal service appointment as I could still smell the faint smell of burning oil while I was driving so I suspected it was still leaking a bit at least but I wanted to see if the technicians would notice anymore leaks without me mentioning it first and they did indeed find it was leaking oil still. So in the end, the dealer repaired my car correctly and it hasn't had any problems since. Everyone seems real nice I just wish it was repaired correctly the first time and that a proper accounting was documented on my invoices. read more

When the auto light on the dashboard says "Maintenance Required See Your Dealership" it means wait for weeks or months before the husband will do an oil change. I used to be badass and do oil changes myself on my Toyota Celica, which was so low to the ground I had to park half of the wheels onto a curb just so I could fit under the carriage, and I was super skinny (and young) back then. Now, not so skinny and now not young. I'm not going to risk injury doing something like that, that's what the husband is for! I found Capitol Auto via Nextdoor, and I was surprised I never heard of this gem of a place. Heck, all my friends obviously knew about this place judging from their reviews! I'm always one of the last people to find out about things. Oil change cost $73.25 with tax. It was done in less than an hour and I was able to wait in their comfortable waiting room. When I came home, I double checked to make sure they really did change the oil but the fluids were not topped off as reported in their invoice. I wish they would take that off if they are not going to do it but that's OK, the price was still very reasonable and the ease of scheduling an appointment and being able to get my car back in less than an hour was well worth it. I have always referred friends to come here since they do diagnostic work at a minimal charge. Most times it's tied into the labor of the work they will do to fix the problem. Therefore, they are the best value in Centeal Oahu! It's nice to see they work on a variety of models; domestic, Asian and European. They will do things by manufacturer specs. A huge plus for me is that they will accept parts I ordered to install. However, they will not warranty the labor on most occasions. Although, one time i did have my struts installed and the manager suggested to replace the mounts as well. The left mount bearing for the strut was making a noise so the tech after re-checking the issue I was having after it was replaced, he ended up taking about the strut mount as a courtesy. To be prepared, I did find another strut mount from. Mazda since I used an aftermarket brand to match the brand for my struts and shocks. The crew will explain things in detail. Service has been good, one time when leaving tech forgot to put my wheel lock back so thankfully I remembered before making it fully home. Tech apologized when I came back and handed it to me. Parking can be crowded but you can drive in. Walk-ins are allowed but it's best to call ahead since you never know IMO. I was thankful they have a mechanic who can do work after 3pm. Most businesses will not take even bother but of course, just be sure to check their staffing. They are open Monday-Fri 8am to 530pm. Closed on weekends. read more

My car exhaust started to sound unusually load and I thought maybe my catalytic converter has been stolen - I'm not mechanically inclined person so I called Capitol Auto Service to have it checked (I've taken my car here for regular oil and filter change). They checked and found out that there's a cracked on the exhaust- they can fix it and replaced the exhaust but since parts need to be ordered and might take over a week - the service person advise that it might be a better option to have my car -fixed by another shop.
