Do not go to Midas!!! I had been going here for my oil changes (my mistake) and after a while my engine gave out on me. Justin and the staff at Midas in Turlock are phenomenal. They have always taken good care of me and have never tried to sell me something I did not need. They guarantee their work and do not charge you for every little thing. They value their customers and do their best to keep costs down. I have had air conditioning problems with my car for the past four years and have spent a lot of money trying to fix the issues. Last year, I took it to Midas in Turlock. They replaced a lot of parts and it was working great. Unfortunately, the last couple of months it has not been working properly. I was hesitant to take it in because I had already spent a fortune with other shops and was not willing to spend any more money. Anyhow, I called Midas about my issue and even though they were booked, they agreed to at least check out the issue. They checked the system and could not find any leaks or issues with the system. It turns out that there was debris in my air condenser because when they flushed it out, it seemed to work perfectly. I am grateful for the staff at Midas in Turlock because I feel that they go above and beyond when it comes to customer service. Even though they spent time on my car, they did not charge me for the inspection. I am grateful because I spent over a thousand dollars last year in parts. I really like taking my car here. The guys here are helpful, informative, and don't make me feel dumb if I don't know something. Oil change is only $30 if you order synthetic. I've shown up with my car when all bays have been full and went in and out in less then 30 minutes. When we brought out 1994 Civic in for a diagnostic they were helpful in listing out the specific parts and serial numbers that needed replacing. Unfortunately you can't bring your own parts in for them to put into your car. Other than that, there is nowhere else I trust more with my car in Turlock. read more

Went in for a diagnostic to see why my A/C wasn't working correctly. They told me it was going to be $59.99 for the diagnostic, okay no problem, 2 hours later I go to pick up my car. They charged me almost $200 for the repairs they did. Where was my phone call saying they were going to be making repairs and charging me?!?! I only asked for a diagnostic. I feel as though they took advantage of me. I never gave them permission to make those repairs and I'm furious. Wish I brought my spare key and drove away that's such bullsht. read more

On 3/31/18 I took my Ford Edge in to have its brakes checked out. I had made an appointment in advance with Justin. I was seen in a timely manner and had Justin and Damian both attending to my concerns. A very thorough brake inspection was completed as well as the alignment and balance of my tires. I left there feeling very secure with the inspection and diagnosis. I was treated well and did not feel taken advantage of or talked down to (I am a female customer) I will be taking my vehicle back the next time I have a concern regarding my vehicle. So this is my first 1 star review. Usually I get my car serviced at the dealership I bought I car (Hammer Lane Toyota) since they always seem to do a decent job. But since I just moved to Turlock and the closest Toyota dealership was in Modesto, I decided to try out Midas. What a mistake. First off, I called in to get a quote for a 60k maintenance service. Said it was going to be around $700 for everything (oil change, cooling system flush etc....). I have a 2003 Toyota 4Runner Limited V8, so the price wasn't too bad but not that great either. After I left my car there, the manager called me and said I should have more work done on the car.. like fuel injection cleaning.. etc... So I'm like what the hell, might as well get everything done at once. So I agreed to it but it was an extra $200. Then I go pick up my car, he says that everything is fine and done except for VSC trac light came on. But he stated that I dropped off my car that way. (Which I didn't, I would know since I've been driving my car for 4 years). But since I was in a hurry, I took my car thinking it was a button that one of the techs just pressed. When I got the car home, I noticed that my glove department was unhinged and alot of greasy fingerprints on my operation manual. Also noticed a brake pad on my running board. I did some research and found out it wasn't just a button but a problem that could be possible fix by filling up the brake fluid. So I called back Fred, the manager and told him about the possible solution, and he said it would see if it works. I brought my car in the next day to get it fix, it didn't work. So he referred me to an transmission shop and let me use his name for a discount (thanks, guy). I was like wtf, but after 20 mins of telling him that I thought his shop should be the one to fix the problem that they created, I just left.... never going back there again. I don't mind people making mistakes but at least try to fix it. Oh well, this Midas will never have me as a customer again. read more

This place not only cost me over $2,000 dollars but my car ended up worse than when it went in. So I had this vibration problem in my car and I took it to Midas thinking since they were well known and established it would be in good hands but boy was I wrong! The manager totally took advantage of my ignorance about cars and trustworthiness in the shop. He had me spend thousands on a power steering rod, motor mounts, and new hubs. My car was still vibrating AND my fuel pump went out after they threw in a "free" fuel line cleaning. This guy still wanted to talk me into bringing my car back at my cost! And a few months later my power steering started going out! This place should not be in business! read more

THEY DROPPED MY TRUCK OFF THE LIFT!!! BEWARE!!! Horrible place. Will never go there again. Took them months to fix my truck cause they had to "investigate" the cause of it falling. Either their fault or the company who made lift fault. Either way they were responsible yet took forever to get fixed because they didn't want to pay for it and work out between them and the lift company. In the end, it was THEIR fault. Never heard anything from their corporate. No apology. No free oil change (even though I wouldn't use it). $18,000 in damage to a new truck. Hasn't been the same since. Stay away! read more

I'm not one to complain but as a consumer the point of this is for you all to judge based on past experiences and make better decisions then we did.. Haha... My experience with this place yesterday was horrible. My car recently had 3 lights come on and I ended up taking it to Les Schwab the gentleman and young lady there were very helpful, they even came out and did a free diagnostic so that when I do take it elsewhere I know what's wrong and won't get hassled and they end up recommending Midas so trusting them since they were so awesome I came here. When I first walked in I was greeted and told they'd be right with me... The place reeks of cigarette smoke and looking around I notice the radon it smells is because 2 mechanics are smoking while working on cars (isn't that a big no no?) well whatever I want planning on leaving my car anyway so I wait. The customer before me had quite a bit of issues with his car that were pricy but the guy helping him was totally working with him on pricing...which is awesome! Once it was my turn I tell him my issues and how I already know what was wrong with it and I was just trying to see if Midas repaires 02 sensor lights because I read somewhere it's usually a dealership thing and if so how much do they charge... He says I'll have to get my store manager Justin and he'll help you out and since you just had a diagnostic done maybe he'll just give you a price... So I wait.. Justin comes over super friendly guy and says he'd still need to do a diagnostic to make sure that's what needs to be done so I agree thinking if I already told him what I needed he'd waive it when he fixes them like most places do or they put it towards the charge of fixing the issue...I asked him how much it'd be and he says high 200s maybe 300 with labor and everything so I give him my car and tell him to call me...less then an hour later he calls saying all together it's gonna cost me 1100 because the Cadillac converter is bad and thats the issue as well...I tell him no and he's like ok then I'll call you back about the 02 sensor problem... Not even 15 mins later he calls me back to say he can't fix the 02 sensor because it's a dealership issue! So I tell him I'll be there to pick up my car... When I get there I'm pretty irritated and when I'm mad I'm usually just quiet and he tries to tell me that that's how much it'll cost me anywhere I go and that it'll be 65.00 for his diagnostic, clearly at this point I'm pissed but totally stay quiet. His computer ends up apparently having issues printing so I wait for my paperwork and to pay as I pay him, he has the the guts to say to me at least you saved some money knowing it's not the 02 sensors lights...I though oh my God first of all I thought you couldn't fix those when your called me back and said that and now your saying it's not an issue and you saved me money! Wow. All I said is wow I just wasted 65 bucks for you to tell me what I told you I wanted done. Clearly these people have no integrity and it starts from the top... Pretty sad because the Midas name and motto is to take care of you but that's clearly not the case at this one... Everyone I've talked to about this experience was upset at me for even taking it there... The right thing to have done as a store manager would of been to say in the beginning if truly you don't do repairs on 02 sensors lights and not charge your customer 65 dollars then because she doesn't wanna fork over the unnecessary work you feel that needs to be done tell her note we don't do 02 sensors but I'm still gonna charge you... Unbelievable..I hope anyone reading this learned from my lesson... Don't waste your money here because they don't even know what they do and don't do. read more

I took in my SUV to have my wheel alignment done and was advised, "your essentric bolt is missing". He did what he can and I proceeded to follow up with dealership immediately after and was advised, "all bolts are there and if there were no bolts, the vehicle will not turn properly". Considering that I've notified Midas within 2 to 3 days that my alignment was still off, Sam advised to bring it in they'll take care of it. My husband had made 2 or 3 early morning appointments and has drove to the facility without having anything done to our vehicle because of their reasons such as the machine is down and there is a truck on the lift that cannot be removed. Today I finally took the vehicle in myself around 3pm and was told that there is a "disabled vehicle on the lift that can't be moved and they are waiting on a part from Justin who drove to Modesto to get it". I've waited patiently in the waiting area because I wanted the issue to be resolved and be done with this place. Around 4:30pm, Justin still had not arrived and the associate's then removed the "disabled vehicle" and advised me that they will be working on my car. Moments later, Damien showed me the essentric bolts on my rear and on the front showed me bolts/washers that should have essentric bolts. I told him that the vehicle was purchased brand new from the dealer and only the dealer and Midas has every touched my vehicle. I advised him that even the dealership said the bolts are all there, etc. All while I was on hold with the dealership, Damien advised me that there was an aftermarket kit that I could purchase. I asked him how much and he didn't know off hand the price. Jessy then came out with a paper and showed us how much which was around $30 dollars and some change. So Damien said I would need 2 of these and labor would be "super cheap around $30.00". Damien then proceeded to tell me that with today's events he would not charge me because of what was going on when Jessy earlier said I would not get charged. I argued the fact that after he did the alignment the first time, a day later I noticed it had issues hence the reason I called immediately and spoke to Sam. Damien also stated that once the kit was ordered I would have to pay for the alignment again. I told him I want to speak to someone higher perhaps corporate and he said his GM was here. Justin approached me at the counter and I advised all that has transpired since day 1 of my experience with Midas to current. He then quoted me the kit price and said, "$25 for labor". I advised him that earlier I was quoted $30 dollars for the kit and now he's giving me a quote of $45 per kit...and $25 per side for labor (total $50/labor). I just advised him that earlier he told me the $25 and did not mention per side and not to mention I was quoted earlier from his staff of $30 some dollars and some change. He gave me a final price of $140 and said that's the best he could do. Knowing how I was already unhappy with all these misquotes and misinformation, he offered a full refund on my alignment and I can take my business across the street or anywhere. Keep in mind, I was present when an older lady came in to apply for credit and have her brakes worked on. She left the store and while they were working on her brakes, the associate stated it was "45%" left while she was not there. Now that she is back to pick up her vehicle, she was surprised to hear that she did not need to have anything done yet a couple days prior according to her, an unknown associate told her that her brakes were almost metal to metal and needed to be changed asap hence her reason to get it done quick. It's unfortunate that this company tries to gain business this way versus being up front and honest and having associate's and managers be all on one page. Went in to get my car checked out for transmission problems. Guy comes back after 5~ minutes and tells me I need a new clutch. I ask if he knows what's wrong with it and he proceeded to tell me he pumped the clutch to get it to shift smoother. Pumping a clutch is awful, and indicates air is getting into the system. They failed to explain what was wrong with the transmission. Car does not need a "clutch kit" estimated at over $1k. Took my car else where to replace master and slave cylinders at well under what they quoted. This is my experience and will not be recommending anyone to come here for automotive diagnostic purposes. read more

I went in for a simple oil change & check my brakes. I used them because my son had good things to say. I made an appointment at my lunch time-Damian was talking too much. I had to wait 20 mins to get waited on. I explained that I knew that the engine made a noise & had already discussed this with my regular mechanic. He wanted to discuss & then argue with me. My brakes were good but was going to double charge me what my mechanic did to fix it. They changed the oil but didn't tighten the plug. Had oil leaks on my driveway. Yep...not going back there. I don't even want to give this place 1 star. It was horrible. The oil change took over 2 hours and there was no one else there. Then, as we were driving to the coast we get a call saying that "they may have left a screwdriver under the hood". We pulled over to find a screw driver that measured about 16 inches AND a huge mallet. Nothing was done to rectify the huge mistake on their part and they just asked if we could return their tools. I would never recommend this place to anyone. They put us in danger and could have caused major damage to the engine of the car. read more

I had a bad experience here several years ago and vowed never to return. Well, just so happened that the tire shop accidentally broke off a lug nut and sent us here last month to fix it at their expense. The manager, Justin, ask why I hadn't been there since 2007 and what could he do to gain my business back. I was reluctant but ended up getting an estimate (great price) for brake pads and rotors. We made an appointment this morning and everything was handled professionally. Sam was our contact today and he met all of our expectations. Hopefully we can travel safely and will return to Midas for our automotive needs. We even had the oil changed and wiper replaced today. read more

I would like to say that as difficult as it is to deal with unforeseen breakdowns and such...JUSTIN has made my almost tragic experience (daughter driving on to bridge to coast to a stop as car cut off "Lord's favor of traveling mercies I might add") - (simple fix)...has made this setback a smooth one. Once Justin's Turlock team got to it. Loose cable to brand new battery that was installed apparently right before our purchase a couple of months ago...anyway, JUSTIN volunteered his time to drive my vehicle to me in MODESTO from the Turlock site (as I had to have AAA tow w/in 5 miles or it'd cost me half my check)...Point being...the 338 McHenry and Geer Rd Midas in Turlock have the best teams! I've always wondered if midas actually rotates tires if you ask and your not there not watch them.So i recently took off a cap for the valve steem to make sure.I came back and they said they did rotate the tires , they lied. Finally they admited no not doing it after i told them what i did about the valve cap.I emailed the main office ,nothing for a week so i emailed them back.They pawned it off on the manager witch was there during this issue.He then began to tell me it was my fault that i didn't ask for a rotation.i will never go back as i told the main office .Do what you want with my experince .Be Careful. read more

Midas is a gaggle of groovy guys who will work with you to make sure things are fixed correctly. They have always treated myself and all my family and friends with nothing but respect and honesty. They will even tell you when it is something they won't fix, instead of trying to pocket money for something that is not their specialty. Had a terrible experience. I have been a Midas customer for close to 10 years and have had 5 of my cars worked on. This last time I took my car to be worked on was the most frustrating in my experience with auto shops. First they looked at the car and quoted me a price, and that it would be ready by Monday [dropped it off on Friday. Come Monday they called and informed me that the price had jumped by 300 due to the damage and that they had to order a part, and the car would be ready the following day at noon. Noon came and went, no call. When I called, they informed me that the dealership had sent the wrong part. Now the car will be ready in another day at noon. when noon came again I had to call, and believe it or not, the dealership had once again screwed up and sent the wrong part again!. So the car would not be ready for another day. When I went to finally pick up the car$1000+ later, it still was not fully operational. The alignment was off. They asked me to drive and bring it back in a week for the alignment. Brought it later after a week! And they explained that they were not equipped to do the alignment since it required electronic calibration, that I had to take it to a dealership. Now that is an additional $140 . I am so disappointed with their service that I have vowed never to go back to them again. They think people are idiots and can not figure out when they are being lied to. I took my truck in at 8:00 am to have the brakes resurfaced and pads replaced. They quoted me $219 for that job and anywhere from 1 hour and 30 min to two hours. I was ok with the price and I went to breakfast at AJ's. I could see my truck from my breakfast table at the restaurant. It sat in front of the shop for 45 min. They put the truck on the lift at 8:45. I got a phone call at 9:00. The guy said that the whole rotar discs needed to be replaced because they could not be resurfaced. I said ok to do the work, and I asked how much it would cost. The guy said $298. I thought ok, about $80 dollars more. They were finished at 10:30, two and a half hours for the job. I get the final bill and it is $459. I told him that I should not be charged for the resurfacing of the brakes since he did not do that, because he replaced the whole discs. The part of the bill for resurfacing was $40. And they DID NO RESURFACING AT ALL. The guy acted annoyed and then told me that he was giving me a $30 discount. That still left $10 that I got screwed out of. They are dishonest. I doubt that they even changed my brake pads. Also, I keep the inside of my truck very clean. It looks like the day I bought it in 2011. The guy drove my truck to test the brakes. When I got the truck back, I noticed a large black oily greasy boot-print on my driver's side carpet. I can't get it out. Thanks Midas. I also drank a sip of the coffee that was in their lounge. It was cold and probably had been there for days with bacteria in it. Thanks for the hospitality Midas, give me a shot of penicillin and add it to my bill please. This place is horrible! read more
