Monday July 25, 2022 - Bringing My Car Into Midas, South Main st Torrington CT On Monday July 25th 2022 I bought my blue Mustang into Midas on South Main Street Torrington Connecticut to have a new differential ring and pinion installed. The person who appeared to be in charge, a mechanic named Larry, told me it would be ready the following day on Tuesday. On Tuesday July 26th I go in and they hadn't even started on the job my Mustang was still parked in the parking lot and the reason they gave me is they were backed up with other work which kind of surprised me because I had an appointment with them specifically for Monday the 25th. keep in mind no one from Midas ever called me and told me anything I found this out when I went in expecting to pick up the car with the new differential ring and pinion installed. I come in Thursday the car still not ready. they kept putting me off until the following week the beginning of August I went in and lost my temper and gave them a piece of my mind. The undereducated crack addict girl Erica at the front desk, reacted like an animal with no professionalism whatsoever as she proceeded to yell and swear back at me. Great way to represent your company. This prompted the mechanic Larry, to come outside and assure me that the reason for the delays is because a tool they needed to do the job a pinion depth gauge. Was broken and he was waiting for the tool to arrive from Amazon - "should be in tomorrow he says". so the following day I call the tool still has it arrived the day after that the tool still hasn't arrived. We are now on the date of Friday August 5th 2022. At this point I know that Larry the mechanic is lying to me. I'm an Amazon Prime member I know how Amazon works and there's no way Amazon is going to keep them waiting and hanging for several days like that it's just not the way they do business. I Had To Purchase the Tools for the Mike, the 'Mechanic' at Midas, 91 South Main st 06790 So at this point to get the job done I had to go on Amazon and purchase the tool for the mechanic $100. So I bring the tool in on Monday August 8th. Now there is a new manager there named Dave who promises he's going to take care of me now. He assures me the job will be ready the next day on Tuesday August 9th. Dave calls me during the day on Tuesday and leave me a voicemail telling me he assures me the job is going to get done some time this week, by Friday at the latest. Mike the 'Mechanic' Had to Download Instructions off the Internet on How to Work on My Car ??$#@@ LOL On Thursday late afternoon August 11th 2022 I go into Midas to pick up my car. Just prior to that I was text messaging with the mechanic who is working on the car, mike, who tried telling me how much trouble he had to go through working on my car because the instructions that he tried downloading from the Ford website for how to install a ring and pinion we're very complicated and vague. HELLO - I thought I was having an auto mechanic work on my car!!??!@ The fact that he mentions to me he has to download instructions on how to do this job tells me he's under qualified for it and Midas never should have taken this job in the first place as they were ill-equipped and they didn't have the properly educated mechanics; they didn't have the proper equipment. To make a long story short finally two and a half weeks later on Thursday August 11th 2022 at 5:30 p.m. just before Midas closes the job is done. Severely Overpriced AND Underqualified is Midas Torrington Conn With all the crap Midas South Main st Torrington, T., 06790 put me through for two and a half weeks you would think they would have given me a discount on the job and an apology. They charged me $859 for a job that is a 5-hour job on the books meaning they overcharged me several hundred dollars. I leave the parking lot with the car and almost immediately here and abnormal sounding whining or grinding in the rear end. I turn around grab another mechanic who is still there and hadn't gone home yet and took him for a test drive and let him listen to the noise. he assured me the noise is normal he said that the ring and pinion and carrier are brand new it has to be broken in so this noise is perfectly normal. I drove the car for about 150 miles with no let-up in the whining and grinding noise in the rear end. mpany and have them initiate a chargeback and stop payment. read more

Midas in Torrington on South main Street in Connecticut are a bunch of scumbags! I left my car off to have worked on on the differential new ring gear and pinion. A job that was claimed to be a 2J job by Midas took two and a half weeks with no communication during the two and a half weeks whatsoever. I had to go into Midas every single day to find out that the job had been put off another day. When I picked up my car and left the rear end was making a ton of noise it shouldn't be I took it to an actual specialist and here's what he found Midas never tightened the fill plug in the differential. Midas never used new bushings on the differential The rear side of the pinion was loose so the opinion was flopping around The differential specialist told me that it would have been nothing but a matter of a short period of time before the rear end exploded. I've never in my entire life experience the more incompetent crew of stooges. If you like your car and your sanity I strongly suggest you stay completely away from Midas South main Street Torrington. If you like your car and your money stay far far far away from South Main Street Torrington Connecticut Midas. Had some work done on a major rear component of my car. The job took almost a month it was supposed to take two days. When I left with the car I could tell by the sound and the noise the job was not done properly so I brought my car to a specialist which is what I should have done in the first place and the specialist reveal this information to me ... 1) the mechanic, Mike the Clown, completely drain the battery of the car because for some reason he turn the lights on in the car and left them on because he forgot to turn them off. Leave your weed and crack smoking for home losers. 2) Midas failed to tighten the drain plug. 3) Bushings that are supposed to be replaced with new bushings were not. 4) Another major component of the repair was loose and not tighten down properly. Had I not brought in my vehicle to a specialist after Midas I would have experienced major car damage because of Midas. This places is great! I was trying to find a time to get my oil change and figured out if I am losing oil. Since I haven't reached 4,000 miles to change my oil. Around 1,500 miles that was used. I saw no oil on my dipstick. I usually change my oil in my other vehicle (jeep) every 4,000 miles not every 1,500 miles with my current car. Which is a lot of money overtime to keep changing the oil. So I called Midas to get appointment. I was able to get appointment on the same day I called. I didn't have to wait weeks for one. Which is nice and a time saver. Jason is a great guy and he was able to explain everything so easy! He gave all possible options for the oil change and oil leak. Not to forget the whole crew has done a great job. I actually saw the oil leak and where it is coming from. Everyone here is very nice and kind. I don't understand the terrible reviews here. I think everyone has done their job and has been friendly! I bought my mustang in to change the ring and pinion. To make a long story short a 2-day job took two and a half weeks, and I had to purchase tools for the mechanic. I can tell by the sound of the gears that they were not done properly Bought the car to a real mechanic he took apart the differential and told me that the pinion was loose they never changed the seals and the axle is loose The new mechanic told me it would only have been a short period of time before the rear end exploded Most of the five-star reviews you see about Midas are complete fake you can tell this by pressing on the link of the username of the person who left the five-star review for Midas of Torrington Connecticut You will see that all the reviews this fake person has left are five-star reviews. I started going to Midas when I needed tires for my car. 3 years later, and I go to the Torrington Midas for any issues I have with my vehicles. This last time my jeep was not safe to drive and had to stay for the night. Not only did they make sure it was secured inside, they offered to show me where it was. I thought I was stuck having to take a day off of work, but they came through again by being the only Midas around that has rental cars on site. I was able to do everything by phone and have a car within 30 minutes. I can't say enough good things about the staff. Every person there goes out of their way to make sure you are taken care of. I highly recommend Torrington Midas for any issues you may have. Even if it not the closest to you, it will be the best experience. read more

I took my truck in on a Saturday morning. I needed brake work and the part that needed to be replaced was on back-order. The manager spent almost 3 hours calling places and waiting on callbacks to try to get the part. He offered to help arrange a rental car as it would not get fixed that day and I had no other transportation. On Monday he called to tell me that he had found the part and would have the truck ready that day. I got to the shop earlier than he said and waited as they finished the job and handled several other customers. The care and attention I got was not unique - they treated every customer as if they were the most important person in the shop. I have been there twice and will stay with them as long as I am in the area. read more

I had a great experience at Midas with Jason and his crew. I went in for a brake inspection and they took excellent care of me right away. Everyone was very knowledgeable and friendly, and Jason took the time to educate me about what was going on with my car. The pricing was very reasonable, and the whole crew made me feel comfortable with great conversation throughout. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I've had very few issues with my car. However, when something does go wrong, I always bring it to Midas. They've always been fair on pricing and have fixed what they were supposed to. The one time something went a little wonky, they took the car in the next day and made it right. I'm a creature of habit, I'll keep going to Midas until they give me a reason not to, and I don't see that happening anytime soon. read more

Sat am wife leaves car due to muffler noise ,3pm we get a call its going to cost 3k for catalytic converter plus a couple other parts from dealership they can't get till Monday Plus labor.expected total to cost 4500.00 Told them we will pick up car within half hour. These guys were amazing! My car's battery died while I was in Staples, across the parking lot from Midas. I walked over and asked if they could help. They walked over, jumped my car, and then drove it right in to fix. I was back on the road in less than an hour. I am so grateful to them.
