I purchased a 2019 Honda CR-V from this dealership in August 2025, 52,000 miles and within 9 days of possession the vehicle had a major engine failure. What should have been an exciting purchase quickly turned into months of stress, uncertainty, and constantly having to chase answers. I was told that the vehicle had to be brought back to this dealership because the warranty would not cover the repair within the first 30 days of purchase. However, the dealership then kept the vehicle beyond that timeframe and ultimately processed the repair through the warranty anyway. As a result, my warranty coverage was used to repair a vehicle that, in my opinion, should not have been sold in that condition to begin with. Very sneaky! At one point, I was even made to feel like I was somehow at fault for driving the vehicle--when in reality, I purchased a car to use it, not to worry about whether normal use would cause it to fail. That moment really stuck with me. I was told they see these issues happen everyday to cars that this is normal. I was told the issues were due to the age and mileage for the vehicle. Zero accountability. After finally getting the vehicle back, the same issue happened again not long after. I completely lost confidence in both the vehicle and the dealership's ability to properly fix the problem. I was advised NOT to drive the vehicle off the lot as I would do more damage and warranty wouldn't continue to cover the repairs but they had no concerns on damage or safety having us drive 1.5 hours there twice for repairs. What made this experience worse was the way it was handled at a management level. My interactions with the general manager came across as dismissive and I was appalled by the statements made as they were very unprofessional. Honestly an embarrassment for their organization. I understand that cars can have issues--but how a dealership handles those issues matters just as much. In this case, the lack of transparency, poor communication, and how the warranty situation was handled made an already difficult situation much worse. If you find yourself in a similar situation, know that you do have options. You can file a complaint with the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles, which oversees dealer practices and consumer protections. It's called the K-35 Dealer Complaint Form. I'm sharing this so others go in informed. Ask questions, document everything, and make sure you understand exactly how problems will be handled after the sale. Don't count on transparency from this dealership. They won't tell you the vehicle being sold just had a major engine repair 2 days before sale. The same engine repair that had to be fixed twice, among other parts that were affected in the process. read more

We took our car in for some basic repairs & maintenance. It went well, and we did not think that we were overcharged.

Had a head gasket job done- when my car never over heated or lost fluid- car ran rich- and misfires cylinder 3, asked to changed after market coils and plugs- they insisted it was the head- so ok, $4300 - I live 45 mins away, NEVER MADE IT HOME, SAME CODES BLOWN AGAIN! Looking at receipt, they only test drive 3mi. But, what did they end up doing, changing the after market coils and plugs - BUT, THE HEAD, NEVER GOT PLANED!!! 2 month and less the 2,000 miles same thing misfire- Now it's the O2 censor, so while they were inside we asked to do both top and bottom- NOPE, just what the reader read, nothing more. SO- now, speed forward it's 12,000 mils or 1 yr warranty- praying maybe, nope 13,000 and 15 month and BOOM, apparently blown again! EVERY MECHANIC IVE TALKED TO SAID,"They never planed the head" NOPE, THEY DID NOT! GREAT WORK! Then to hear that this is common, ha! SMH GOOD LUCK! I had my car towed there after an accident, about at noon on a Wednesday. They went radio silent after they had my car in their possession, so I called the next morning to see when it would be estimated. The guy told me "well, it was a tow-in, so it's not a priority." He said it wouldn't be estimated until Monday. Towed in on Wednesday, no help until 5 days later. If my business isn't a priority, there's no reason to do business with them. Overall a pleasant experience working with Anthony. He was honest and took his time explaining things. I ended up putting down a $500 deposit for a car that was in transit and would arrive in 2 weeks. I was also asked to fill out a credit check form (since I was considering borrowing $5-6k, paying the rest in cash), and was told they wouldn't run my credit until we confirmed I was going to take the car- since I hadn't seen it in person or driven it yet. Two days later, got an alert on my credit notifying me that Honda ran it. Not sure why! I called Manny who is in the finance dept. questioning this since I was specifically told different. I bought a used Tesla from this dealership and a couple of months later I discovered receipts from a body shop for work they did on the car. This wasn't some small job they did, it was pretty extensive work. This was never disclosed to me from the dealership and they provided a clean carfax which clearly it doesn't. I found a car online in this lot that I wanted to buy. I traveled from RI to Avon with $9,000 cash to purchase the car if I liked it. I approached the closest salesman Charles. He pulled the car up. When I drove the car I noticed the glove compartment would not stay closed. I asked him to look at it and was assured that there had been a folder in the way and it was now closing. I saw it was now closed and took his word for it. I went ahead and decided to purchase the vehicle. The car basically sold itself and I was prepared to come back and pick the car up after it was given maintenance prior to being driven off the lot. I was assured that the car had been completely checked out and I would be able to drive it off the lot that day with confidence. 9k down, found my own loan, and purchased an extended warranty, drove it off the lot. The car wasn't even home yet when the glove compartment fell open. I called the dealership and talk to the sales manager Joel. I explained I was not driving back to have this fixed because I was assured by Charles that this glove compartment was not broken and not to worry the car was 100% ready to drive home. I got the go ahead from Joel to get the repairs done at a closer to home Honda dealership and I'd be reimbursed by check. I had to pay out of pocket over 300 bucks in Rhode Island for the part to fix the problem and the labor. I emailed them the bill as I had discussed, it is now over 10 days later and I am still waiting for my check to show up. I've left messages on voicemails. No return call. No concern. No care. Also!! I am from RI buying in CT, I was told they take care of the registration out of state and in RI all the time no problem don't worry, just wait for the plates in the mail. Well not so RI requires a VIN verification as part of registration. You need to bring a copy of the title. I was never told I would need to bring the car to the VIN verification site and when I asked what I would need I was told by Kyle that everything I needed would be in the paperwork he gave me when I left that day. Ok decide to look it up on my way to the site and see we need a copy of the title. It was very clear on the DMV site we would need a copy of the title. I call the dealership and I keep getting transferred to VM they even stopped answering the phone because I was calling them to get this done and no one could go that extra step. Down to the FedEx envelope needed to send it official VIN verification paper with the seal back to them so they could continue the registration process, I asked Kyle to email the day before I went and was told he'd send it to me in the morning. At 1030AM I still had no email with the fedex shipping label. I was given the lamest of all excuses by these guys when I voiced my displeasure doing business. "Things happen" "I can't make a fedex label, the person who does wasn't here yesterday" ...just completely unaccountable for the false promises. If you say you can register the car make it happen, if an extra step needs to be taken on my end please let me know exactly what I need to do, if you say you are cutting my check over 10 days ago SEND the check. Answer the phone. Call someone back. I truly regret doing business here. I basically sold myself the car. Brought 9k cash down. I would expect the salesman to at least try and make sure it's a solid deal and the customer is taken care of. These people may sell cars everyday but I don't buy a car everyday. In my line of work requires total accountability. It really drives me crazy when I bring my hard earned money to the table and people slack off and give excuses as if I'm wasting their time or money. I bought Honda CRV 2022 from Hoffman. At the time of buying, the agent Charles Ijomah emphasized on benefits of Hoffman Advantage which covers Lifetime Carwashes, Alignment checks, Loner vehicle, Shuttle service, Multipoint inspection, preferred service scheduling, battery check and wiper blade check and washer fluid top offs. About 10 months ago I went to Hoffman for car washing but first Mr. Charles Ijomah told me that plan only included washes at the time of service. I went to the sales manager and had to convince the sales manager that lifetime means forever. On 14th September again I went to Hoffman for car washing but my God again Mr. Charles Ijomah flatly refused to provide me the facility and stated that manager was off today and I should come another day. I then went to the sales manager who was extremely unwelcoming to the extent of rudeness and said that the package only included oil changes. In view of above, the Hoffman team is extremely non cooperative and misbehaves with the customers. We traded in our 2007 RAV IV for a shiny new Honda CRV, Our experience with Hoffman Honda, starting from the minute we stepped into the showroom, to our continuing post-sale experiences, have been stellar. Their CRV selection was terrific, they had dozens in every color and style level imaginable. Our consultant, Robert O., was amazing. He was very down to earth and easy to talk to, and man oh man was he great at explaining the technological bells and whistles on the car. Pricing negotiations were pleasant, fair, and beat the prices we had with a comparative "no haggle price" dealer. We'll be attending a "Tech School" for new owners, a real nice feature that serves us dinner, and offers a tutorial on some of the car's smart features. After half an hour past, I asked a manager to find out how long it would be, hw refused to ask the ONLY person who could apparently assist me. A deer ran into my brand new vehicle (2022 CRV) back in mid December just 2 weeks after purchasing it. I took it to Honda for repairs and was given a date one month out so they could secure parts for the vehicle. It is now April and month after month I have been told that no parts are available. It is unacceptable that Honda is not able to secure a "sensor" on a brand new vehicle. I understand there are chain supply issues as my husband is a chain supply director for the automotive industry. What Hoffman is not disclosing is that they are actually able to secure the necessary part off one of their new vehicles and they can wait for the replacement. This is poor customer service and appreciation. We have escalated this to Honda America and Honda international. I am disappointed that no resolution has been attempted to reconcile this issue. I caution any of you before buying at Hoffman or at any Honda dealership. They make promises that they cannot keep and it is unacceptable. I just want my car fixed!!!! read more

A frustrating place to buy a car. I purchased a car there last weekend instead of going to Liberty Honda but Hoffman had the color. For your reference Liberty had the best price off the sticker. No haggling needed, no games with up selling. In working with Hoffman it was a struggle agreeing to a price. Once we agreed that's not what appeared on the final contact. The contact had to be rewritten a few times to match the final agreed price which still did not match Liberty's price which I was originally told would be. Hours later the transaction was done and it was not pleasant. To make the situation more irritating, the sales person came out before we drove away and asked me to give him and the dealer a score of 10 on Honda's survey. read more

Beware of doing business with this dealer. Our experience was very frustrating when we purchased a 2021 used Honda Accord. This car was delivered with a broken defroster that was damaged by the dealer during removal of the limo tinted window film. A fix that should have taken 2 weeks took nearly 3 months. During this period we called the dealer to get a status on the repair. Our calls were rarely returned by our salesman and the used car manager never returned our calls. Our compliant to the General Sales manager and dealer principal were ignored. This dealer does not value their customers after purchase. Recently came into some expected car troubles. (Not the car that I bought here, a different car from another dealer). So I took the car here for service, and turned out that it wasn't worth fixing. There's a bit of back and forth boring stuff, but in the end, they were extremely accommodating in the old car. They fit me with a pre-owned car that is AMAZING. The salesman Robert O. was top notch professional. I'll add, had the first oil change (and new tire not the car's fault, I blame the roofers at my condo for not cleaning up nails) aaaaanyway.. Even something as simple as an oil change, the whole time everyone was nothing but professional. I understand now why my father had been going to them for so long before moving to florida. No one likes having to have their car serviced, but Hoffman Honda made my experience extremely pleasant. My repairs were handled, quickly and transparently. In fact, they ordered an extra part by accident, and installed it free of charge to me. Another time, they key broke off my key fob for my 2012 car and they cut me a new key, using a replacement fob I bought on Amazon, for FREE. Brought our Ridgeline in for a recall of the gas tank. They did not get back to us in the window of time they told us. The next day we called several times and no call back. Finally asked for a supervisor and they said it was ready. Went to fill up the tank and they never connected it. Gasoline went everywhere. The fire department had to be called and the truck had to be towed. At least they did pay for the repair of their own error. Not a single apology whatsoever. They don't care about customer service. Only been here once to purchase a 2013 accord. They have a great selection of vehicles with decent pricing compared to other local dealers. The car has been good so far it's only been a few months. The few complaints were they sold the car to my wife with tires that were near bald and looks like they never checked the alignment. And the oil pan completely rotted out last month. We called them to see if they would cover the pan and we were told it was from us driving in the snow. We bought the car in the summer and it only snowed once when we got it....Luckily she was in the driveway with our 2 baby's when it decided to give. This review is about the service department scheduling only. We also bought our Honda Fit with Hoffman Honda and the sales experience with Jeff was top-notch. However, when it came to redeeming our one free oil change the communication was unfortunately sub par. Our appointment was changed without explanation and we only realized it by chance when we checked Hoffman' appointment reminder email. In response to my call hoping for a clarification I was told I must have called in myself and changed the date and time. Surely, that didn't happen. No apology or attempt to clarify what had happened was given. That was disappointing and we will have to get our car serviced somewhere else now. read more

This review is for a used car purchase at Hoffman Honda. Toni and I had been searching and shopping for an SUV for her. She narrowed her choice down to a Jeep Cherokee. Online listings found a 2015 Jeep Cherokee at Hoffman Honda. Far from home for us, but it was the vehicle she wanted at a reasonable price. I made contact and set up an appointment to look at and drive the car. This has to have been the smoothest, most stress free purchase of a vehicle I have ever made. Jeff was FANTASTIC. Tom, the sales manager also was great. I was able to leave on the same day with a clean car full of gas. Paid a reasonable price and was not pressured to pay for anything I did not want. I was allowed to have a copy of the Carfax. I got to spend as much time as I wanted wondering around the car looking at it and checking for cosmetic issues. No redirecting to another car by either Jeff or Tom. The dealership facility is HUGE. The sales area is clean and calm. There were drinks while I waited as well as a tv. The purchase experience was fantastic. The car now has a small issue and Tom the sales manager went above and beyond to make sure the problem is taken care of. I will check back in with a review of the service department once I get the Jeep back. So two days later the Jeep is back. Tom and Anthony in service both came through in a big way. There are some employees here who are terribly rude and offensive in my experience. Tried a bait and switch during a sale once and I walked out. I will not call Hoffman or return, however I do hope the customer service I received twice were rare abnormalities. SEXIST, unbenounced to me, my wife and I both received quotes from this location at the same for the same car. She got a price quote that was $600 more than mine. When we went to finalize a deal they told us the best they would do was even more than my wifes quotes, over $1000 more than my original quote. Scumbag Con Artists. I put a $500 deposit down over the phone, because it looked like a great deal. i was told a refund could be given at any time. I get there, the car reeks so bad of dogs I almost gag. I had concerns about how a baby seat would work, and they showed me a totally inappropriate way (the car was an older model). I was told my deposit would be refunded. Over a month later, I get my credit card bill and the $500 is still on there. I call (several times), and was finally told that in order to do a refund I had to bring my card back in. No on ever called to tell me this. So I had to drive back, 90 min roundtrip...AND I'm 9 months pregnant. This place is terrible, especially salesman TJ. I recommend everyone steer clear. i would give zero stars if i could. Four TERRIBLE Experiences from this Dealership. 1) I put a down payment on a 2010 Honda Coupe and the dealership proceeded to sell the car at an auction. 2) I was then given a "deal" on a 2011 Honda Sedan, which I was not told has manual locks. Every car that I asked to see prior to this car had automatic locks. The seller did not point this out. 3) I submitted a formal request to opt out of the extended insurance. I was told I would receive a full refund. The request was not processed and I am still fighting with them. 4) I took my car for an inspection and found out the car has been in an accident that was not listed on the CarFax. read more

I think they do a decent job. It's all relative though, right? Today they incorrectly estimated the time it would take them to do my front brakes by about an hour. In the past, they've also got me down there thinking that i only needed a new muffler, when I needed a whole assembly. If you're waiting for a repair, there's nothing to do except walk to McDonalds. Once I yelled at the weasely scheduler for promising me that I only needed a lesser repair, after which they pulled the bait and switch. But I don't trust mechanics from the start. The presumption is that they're crooked until they prove otherwise. So I guess they're okay. read more

This is the absolute worst car dealership I have ever dealt with in my life. I have bought over 20 cars in my lifetime I have never seen anybody as bad as this. My son went in to buy a car in attempt to get financing. He put a $1,000 check down and did not get approved for the financing because of his age. They have not responded to him his $1000 and he has been back 3 times to ask for the money and they keep telling him that it will be in the mail, which it is not. This is in addition to the fact that they kept us in the dealership for 9 hours one day because they would have an answer. It took them 3 days to get an answer back from the financing company. I had told the salesman from the beginning that if he thinks that it will not go through and I do not want to waste my time. UPDATE: I called them and told them about this YELP review and that I would continue to post SM about this situation. I told them if they refunded me by noon (at 7:30AM) that I would not continue my posting on other SM sites. I was thinking of taking down this post if they did, but after reading similar situations I feel now that the truth should remain. I will honor my word and not post on other SM about this situation. I bought my first new car in ages from Hoffman last June. Salesman Eric couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. I came in knowing exactly what I wanted and how much I had to spend. Aside from a bit of a wait for a scheduled appointment, and aside from whoever tried to briefly throw shade on my trade-in with a silly comment (didn't last very long), the sales transaction was smooth and pleasant. I felt confident in the process, and now that I've spent some time with it, I can say that I just love my new Fit. Receptionist Jennifer has been helpful and friendly via email. Today, I had my first official service appointment, so I thought I'd post before time passes. David was welcoming and cordial. He went over everything, answered my questions, and even adjusted my clock for Daylight Savings Time.
