Went in for an oil change, they didn't replace my oil cap correctly which caused oil to spray all over the inside of my engine. I had to have the components power washed to remove the spillage from the engine bay to stop the burning oil smell blowing through my vents. Oil levels were reported as dangerously low when I had my car looked at too. So did the oil leak out the bottom? Cost me almost 400$ to have this negligence corrected by the dealership. I don't understand what happened. The situation translates as carelessness. read more

I'll start off by saying I'm a petite female who gets taken advantage of A LOT at places like this. I always go to this Midas when I need an oil change because they never do. When I go to Valvoline they give me a pitch about needing obnoxiously expensive oil and when I refuse they say "well, the computer says this is the only oil recommended for this car" blah blah blah. This Midas takes my coupon, changes my oil, charges me $25 and I go home happy. Louis, in particular, was especially kind and pleasant to do business with when I recently got my headlights installed, so I want to give him a shout out! read more

I'm 20 years old and never had much experience with repair garages because this is pretty much my first car. I drive a 96 Buick skylark and with every old car repairs are bound to be needed. My first experience with Midas was a few months back when I got in an accident right down the road, I had no idea where the best place to go to get it looked at and repaired so I found Midas in Stratford. I brought my car there and with all the parts I needed it was gonna cost a bit. I was assisted by Alex, who worked with me to accommodate what I needed done at a reasonable price! I drove my car home after they looked at it which was stupid on my part due to the damage caused by the accident to my front wheel, but that didn't stop their amazing service. When I called to let them know I want to proceed they offered to come pick up my car because it wasn't safe to drive. After all the details were settled and they started their work, they said it would take a few days for the parts to come in so they can start working. Midas got it done sooner than expected and did a very thorough job! Of course as old cars like to raise new issues, I had another problem with the car a couple days ago my steering wheel was shaking like crazy and felt like I had a flat tire or was going over a bump every second, so I brought it to Midas because I knew they would do an awesome job. At this time a I was helped by Eric who was also very nice, very helpful, an again accommodated my financial situation when it came to paying for the repairs. They let me know all the issues wrong with it that NEEDED to be fixed to ensure the vehicle would be safe for me to drive. Not only did they help to fix my car but they also were very generous and gave me a ride home from the shop so I didn't have to wait for another Uber which was crazy nice of them. The same day they were all done so I went back and picked it up. I gotta say even though I have only had this car for about 6 months, it has never felt this smooth driving it, I got 4 brand new tires, new breaks, all fluids checked and yes the car is still old but because of Midas it feels as new as it can get! I went in for an oil change and to get my front and back brakes done and was pleasantly surprised at how accommodating they were. I can't give them 0 STARS because is not allowed, but PLEASE DON'T GO to this place, they just want your MONEY, they look like very friendly and kind, Aldo told me he can squeezing me without an appointment and check my car, after 2 hrs he called and stated my car needs a bunch of new pieces: brake hoses, brake rotor, lug nut, etc... so in total will be $2600 dollars, I was in shock how expensive but he told me will be a discount so now it's $2485 dollars because they need to find the pieces, I told them I will pay in that moment, so no more than 3 hours he called me back and my car was ready. 2 weeks later I heard again a noise (was a Friday),so I called him on Saturday that he needs to check again my car, he said 'Sorry I don't have time', make an appt, so I have to wait til next Saturday, so today I went (with appt) left the car and he called me back saying now the issue are 2 wheels bearing and will be $1170 dollars, maybe with a discount $970, when they should have do it 3 weeks ago, so I took my car and now I'm driving to find another mechanic. By far the worst experience at any garage. Brought my Jeep in for new brake pads and rotors. After leaving I heard a knocking sound when stopping and brought it back. Apparently they put on parts that had an indentation. When I brought my Jeep back they tried and failed to fix the problem twice and finally decided to order better parts. Even after all of that I still heard squeaking. On my 4th or 5th visit they tell me brake fluid was leaking, something they failed to tell me on all my previous visits. They were gonna charge me for that until I told them how often I had been in. So they "fixed" that problem and even now I still hear a squeak here and there. I brought my Volkswagen Jetta there to install a part that I had purchased. I am knowledgeable about cars but do not have the tools to do these types of jobs, so I thought I would bring the car to a place where a professional could install the part, that's where things went south. I spoke with one of the gentlemen before going there and they stated to me it wouldn't be an issue to install. I dropped the vehicle off and called the store a couple of hours later to see how things were going. Ralph, the guy who usually stands at the desk, told me that I would need a new turbo because the bolts were to rusted, they weren't going to be able to change the oil in it because the oil pan had a temporary strip plug in it and that I would need a new oil pan. When I picked up my car after telling him no thanks on the phone, the gentleman I spoke to that morning was very apologetic, and Ralph, wouldn't acknowledge my presence. Save your money and bring your car somewhere else, I took my car to Best Brakes and Muffler up the street, not only did they install the part without an issue, but replaced the drain plug to the oil pan that was not stripped. People like Ralph are the type of people who make it hard for honest mechanics. This guy will try to rip you off and get you to purchase unnecessary add-ons. read more

Made an appointment that day, and they were able take my car. Standard oil change with tire rotation. Excellent customer service, both mechanics that helped me were very friendly and helpful. I believe the manager greeted me, I think his name was Mike. Jose was my tech. They started working on my car immediately and were very fast. Didn't keep me waiting long at all. I was in and out on a Saturday in 30 minutes. Highly recommend them, I will definitely go back. read more

I had my car fixed and keep bringing it back because it's not fixed I brought my car back again on 8/31/2020 and was told would be done tomorrow 9/1 they never called to let me know status I called them . They tell me oh tomorrow so 8/2 I just called again they tell me tomorrow so 9/3 what the hell. I do not recommend Stratford Midas to anyone for anything. They don't call you to give updates nothing. I used to go to this shop for service, but will not return after the recent experience. The management has changed recently. I went in to fix check engine light. I have a diagnosis report showing that a thermostat needs to be replace. After waiting two hours, I was told my "rear" but not "front" thermostat needs to the replaced and given an estimate of $1,000. (A total lie as there is only one thermostat). The manager could not even explain to me how the diagnosis was done. After some discussion, the manager put in "all the possible discount" including removing the diagnosis charge, and bring the bill to $615+tax. I declined to repair this 2009 car, and was charged diagnosis charge $120 and $5 shop supplies. After I asked why there is a $5 shop supply charge, he reluctantly removed it. I wasted two hours and was charge $127 (with tax). Several days later, I went to a shop nearby and had the car fixed at $367 (everything included). I would give 0 star for this store if I could. read more

My keyless ignition system failed and Midas arranged a for a tow to bring my car down to the shop. They quickly diagnosed the problem as something only the dealer could fix. They were extremely polite and professional. They offered an apology and did not charge me for the tow. I will definitely give them my business the next time I have any car issues. read more

There are so many good things about this Midas location. It is really easy to schedule an appointment online. It is also really easy to get ahold of someone on the phone. The employees are incredibly polite, friendly, and professional. I've dropped my car off and they've called with updates (e.g. how things are going, ETA for when it will be ready). I've also waited for my car and they've given updates while I've been sitting in the waiting room. I had a number of major repairs done on my car back in the fall (read: expensive but necessary). I went back today to get an oil change and regular checkup and they had credited me a free oil change, so I didn't have to pay anything today. I feel like this almost never happens nowadays. I was also in and out within half an hour. I will definitely be taking my car back to this Midas for repairs and maintenance. read more

They are fairly ok compared to other shop I've experienced in Fairfield. This is the reason why I brought my cars here despite of the fact I am 8.5 miles from Fairfield and pay extra miles in towing at AAA. I believe the price is reasonable in every task to be undertaken. Right now on this date, my Subaru Forester is in service for major repair although the price is hefty, but it is worth it, due to the nature of the work to be done. Secondly, the personnel are friendly, very professional to deal with...I'll continue to be their customer in the coming months, years and beyond as long they are always fair to me. My next project to be done for my Forester is to replace the rear suspension and replace the tires. Oil change and air filter? hmmm I can do it by myself. Those are very simple job for me. read more

Absolutely amazing staff, couldn't be more impressed with the kindness and professionalism. A few weeks ago I was making the drive from Brooklyn to Cape Cod to visit my family and my left front caliper started to freeze on the highway. I pulled off in a panic. It was 5:15 on a Friday evening. I pulled into Midas in Stratford at 5:20, knowing it was a pipe dream that they might be able to stay open past their closing time in 10 minutes. The amazing people who work here pulled out all the stops for us. They stayed open (personally driving to a warehouse to get a part for us) and had the job done in an hour, sending us safely on our way home. They took the time to explain everything to me, and even spoke with my dad on the phone to assure him that his daughters were in good hands and would be driving home safely that same evening. read more

I've been coming to this location since I moved to Connecticut back in December and have had nothing but great experiences every time. They are very honest and fair. I got the brakes replaced in my car one day before I had to be at work and one of the managers drove me to work while they worked on my car! I also thought I had to have the hazard switch replaced in my car, so I purchased one online to be installed, but it turned out that it was just unplugged. They could've just replaced the switch and charged me for it all, but they were super honest. I would highly recommend this business. My car wouldn't start. Thought it was the battery. I work very close to Midas, so I looked into them. I originally thought they only fixed mufflers. I was wrong, they do SO MUCH more. They tried getting my car working before actually charging to fix it. They helped me find a tow service (that wouldn't cost me too much). My check engine light was on, so I knew I was going to have to pay a diagnostic fee. I always figure "if my car is broke, I'll be broke soon as well". The people here at Midas in Stratford, Ct are extremely honest and very helpful. Turned out it was the starter that needed to be replaced. The price was better than I expected. Especially because after fixing my car, the check engine light went away, so I didn't have to pay for a diagnostic fee for my car. Appreciate everything you all did for me. Thank you all very much!! They worked on my car for 45 mins and charged me an extremely low price after saying "dont worry about it". They spoke to me and other customers extremely politely and in an educational way as too not come off as "being sly" or shady. We brought our car in the day after Christmas because it was making a whirring sound when accelerating. Power steering seemed a little tight and made the same noise. They were short handed because of the holiday but were able to get us in after a short wait. Each of the staff we encountered were incredibly polite and generous. After about a 45 minute diagnosis, they brought us in to show us the issues we were having. The mechanic also pointed out other issues which weren't related, but offer us recommendations for maintenance to be aware of a take care of in the near future - not at all pressuring us to do it today or even at all, just a fair recommendation. The unfortunate thing is that we were traveling home from the holidays and the parts needed wouldn't be in until the next day. Because of that we were unable to get the work done, but we're assured we could likely make the trip home, but cautioned to be extra careful. He filled the absent fluid, performed the diagnostic, and ran an additional check for free! The gentleman also sent us with a quote and complete write up for us to bring to our local Midas or mechanic. We wish we were able to take care of the issue right away, but understood the circumstance. We were very satisfied with the service, and if we were local would certainly use them again. read more
