Midas has been around for many years and I am glad that they are still around. The staff here are friendly and professional. Always doing things right, even if it's only for an oil change. Much more affordable that taking your car to the dealership where you will definitely have to pay more and wait longer. Conveniently located to eating places, I love coming here as they also have a comfortable waiting area with a nice TV if you decide to wait for your oil change. read more

What a bunch of incompetents! See my review from yesterday's bad experience. They damaged my coolant container while doing a transmission flush yesterday. Not only was I leaking coolant, but my check engine light went on, the odometer was constantly blinking and air bag lights came on. All this after paying them $292 for a transmission flush. Unfortunately, according to Midas Waipahu, they are the only shop who does transmission oil changes. Never again! read more

Other places near where I live are first come first served and sitting in the lines that build up takes at least an hour. Midas was so easy and fast! Had a great overall experience at this Midas location. Although they didn't have any appointments available on the day I needed service they told me they could squeeze my car in for some tire maintenance. I dropped my car off at 11 AM and got a call around 2 PM that it was done. The pricing and services done on my car were clearly communicated. Pricing was fair and honest. Staff were very very friendly and took the time to explain everything. Every question I had, answered. 10/10 would recommend if you need any type of car services. read more

My steering wheel and my tires were wobbling up front so I took my car here to have them look at it and they told me that my two front tires needed to be changed. The lady at the front desk was so nice. I highly recommend making an appointment as they get so busy. I had my friend schedule a 3:30 pm appointment on Friday, November 10. I drove it down there with a friend. The lady told me with the alignment it would cost $495 so I told her I don't need the alignment and that I just wanted the two tires put up front. That costs around $320 including tax. I left my car overnight there because I was afraid my tires would fall off and it wasn't safe. The lady informed me I would receive a call the next day. Around 12:30 in the afternoon on Saturday, I received a call from a guy at Midas and told me my car was ready for pick up and so I had my sister in law's husband drop me off. There was a slight confusion because there was another Kia there. Lol The guy was nice and told me if I needed anything, to contact them. They seem pretty good at what they did considering I feel so much better now that they fixed that problem. I still need to change out my brake pads too and get an alignment. I definitely would come here again to have something else serviced depending on what it is and how much. Good customer service here. read more

I finally called Midas to make an appointment and got one within the week, it was the soonest I could find. I was in an out in 20 minutes and the front desk was so friendly. Been here one time and that was enough for me to give it five stars because I had a flat tire and the workers were extremely professional. High quality. Great value. I did not have to wait at all. I had a small family with me and they were able to plug the tire in under 5 minutes. Even my kids were surprised how quickly it was done. Highly recommended and definitely will come back. Let me start by saying I always use Midas for oil changes and safety inspections. The Waipahu location is closer to me but when they are super busy I try the Pearl City location as a second option. Everyone is always so friendly at both locations. I arrived at this location around 8am today and despite there being only one car on a lift and an otherwise empty garage (no one in the waiting room either) I was told safety inspections was by appointment only. I understand that businesses have their own processes, but I just found it odd that they would turn away walk-in business while the place was empty. So just beware to make an appointment ahead of time if you are looking to get a safety inspection. read more

Rico and his team will take good care of you, just be sure to call ahead to schedule an appt. I can't speak for others but I have been in and out quick, so depends on what service your vehicle requires. They are a bit further away from where I live, but I was recommended by a friend who's also been a long time customer. And I am more than happy to make that drive. Will be coming back in the near future for my upcoming maintenance. Idk about walk-ins but to make everything go smoothly, just call in to make an appt! read more

My father brought his car here for a brake repair. After being charged $2000 for four wheel rotary and pad replacement, I was curious to see if prices changed that dramatically since leaving Hawaii. Low and behold, a few other business such as Lex Brodie's and Auto care did not charge the same price and offered a free brake inspection! Midas charged $700 labor and $1300 for parts! This is fricken ridiculous! I would not recommend this business and would never go back here again! This is your typical Hawaii business ripping off their own! Living in the mainland, brake repairs are $350-$700 just as Lex Brodie's quoted me today as I called for an inquiry. read more

I saw my car engine check light was ON so went to Midas to get a diagnosis. They said the catalytic converter is too old and not working properly. They also said It needs to be replaced at a cost of over $3500. However, I replaced it with a brand-new catalytic converter less than a year ago. Since it was hard to believe their words, I went to another repair shop and got diagnosed for free. They said nothing was wrong with the catalytic converter and that it might be the sensor malfunctioning. I decided not to get repaired at Midas. They charged me $185 only for the diagnosis and also $27.75 for the shop supplies even though I did not get any supplies from them. Overall, their service seems to be pricey and not trustable. read more

Everyday my vehicle is out of commission, is a day I am losing income.  Midas Pearl City always helps to get timely emergency service as well as scheduling maintenance completed and returning to the road in no time. They always keep me updated on what my vehicle needs, and how much it will cost.  Their location is convenient. Called during the week and got an available appointment on the day I requested. Got there the day of and was immediately greeted and assisted. Left my truck for a diagnostic because my AC was blowing warm. Before the day was over I received a call from John stating that since the diagnostic wasn't fully done, he won't charge me and if I need the truck over the weekend I could come get it and bring it back Tuesday. Got there and he was the sweetest telling me the refrigerant stayed in and it will keep it a little cold until then. I'm not exaggerating when I say this is the worst customer service I've ever experienced from a customer facing role. When I entered the office, the clerk could not be bothered to look up from her book or turn her music off. She only did so when my husband and I approached the counter for help. She talked down to us, rolled her eyes, and was, generally, unfriendly and unhelpful. I had to pull teeth to get her to make an appointment for us to come in which I think I'll cancel and take my car somewhere else. I've never been treated so poorly by a professional before. Got a flyer in the mail for a 'great deal' on an oil change. Supposed to change oil, replace filter, check and rotate tires, check brakes, etc. Biggest thing I wanted was an oil change and brake pads checked. Mechanic said I need an air filter, cabin filter, and new rear shocks. I was surprised, I just recently replaced the air filter and cabin filters. He showed me 'oil leaking from one of the shocks'. I asked if how the brake pads were and if he rotated the tires as advertised. He said he didn't remove the tires because if he put the newer tires on the rear, the car would shake and wobble - so he doesn't know about the brake pads. If you know anything about autos, you're thinking the same thing I did hence the 1 star. Oh yeah, got home and checked both filters / a minuscule amount of dust or dirt - no where close to requiring replacement. I have used Lex Brodie and Auto Repair of Hawaii both right there in Aiea and I'll stick with them! read more

I came in for an oil change today. A guy named John was working on a car outside, but as I was walked toward the office, he paused, greeted me with a hello, smiled, and even asked me how my day was going. Even though he was busy doing something else, he took the time to address me. It's the little things that really make a difference in the experience. I work in the service industry. Please and thank you's are hard to come by these days, unfortunately. Even eye contact is rare. They were quick and efficient. I was outta there in 45 minutes. John at Midas, thank you. I had my oil changed a few months back at Midas and they were quick, however they did put in synthetic without my knowledge and charged me more then I had planned. I called in to get the mileage months later as I couldn't find the sticker or invoice as I wanted to determine when to do my next oil change. it turns out that they put my mileage down as 9k though my vehicle has 130k+ miles. I understand mistakes happen but Charlie, the woman answering the phone, had some of the worst customer service skills I've experienced in a while. I'm surprised a business owner would want to put someone embodying bad attitude and unprofessionalism at the front end of their business. read more

Called Midas in Kailua for a safety check, Lauren was so helpful and said there is a backlog in Kailua for safety checks and try their sister store in Pearl City. I wanted to get it done and the drive was not an issue coming from Kailua. I called Pearl City and they got me in the next day. My car died and I had to get it towed. I googled the nearest auto repair to where I was, so I went to this Midas. I kind of forgot there was one here. So I called ahead to make sure they could take me. I think they were closing early that day? But I still had an hour and a little bit to get there. When I got there, I found out I had to get a new starter and a new battery. Because I got there late I was worried it wouldn't be enough time to get everything done. But low and behold, they were able to finish it and I was so grateful for that. They even told me if something else goes wrong to call and let them know and bring it back there to figure it out. It was quite expensive but in a short amount of time and for the work they did, it was worth it. They were really nice. I would go back here if I needed to. I already like going to the Midas in Waipahu. read more

Stopped by here at 2:00 on a Saturday afternoon to get a flat tires checked out. It wasn't my car and I wasn't positive the driver knew how long the flat was driven on. The tires were purchased at this location 6 years ago. They found the service records and told me they'd call in the next hour. I walked across to the boba place, relaxed for about 30 minutes and spent about another 10 minutes waiting in the Midas lobby. Turned out to simply be a nail in the tire. They fixed it and we were on our way. The one star loss was due to the bathroom. While it was more or less clean, the toilet bowl was stained brown above the waterline and on the rim. Just too old and stained. Time to get a new one. read more

I accidently came to this location back in February after my husband recommended I go to the Midas in Waipahu for a oil change since he had been to that location and liked their service. Unfortunately, my gps took me to this one and oh, what a headache that took me through. I got there and immediately noticed there was no "waiting area" or place to sit down inside since their waiting area was still roped off for Covid reasons. Considering their other location's waiting area is open and running, I didn't understand why this one still had theirs closed off to customers. We're over a year into this thing and businesses are finding ways to reopen inside and still be "safe". Please consider reopening the inside as having to sit outside on a single chair right next to mechanic garage is not ideal and leaves one feeling pretty dirty. The service overall was good. They checked me in pretty quickly and I only waiting about 30 minutes for them to finish the job. Unfortunately, this would not be the last time I had to visit this place... I drove my car for a week after they gave me an oil change, only to find that they forgot to put the oil screw back in properly so it had fallen out at some point and all the gas leaked out of my tank. I was driving that following Saturday afternoon and noticed my car was smoking under the hood. I pulled over and checked the oil levels and noted the levels were extremely low. I didn't understand why that was since I had just had the oil changed, so I thought I would run by an Autozone and refill the oil just to make it back home. But after the engine light came on, something told me to find the nearest auto mechanic because the car wouldn't last much longer. Sure enough after a few minutes of driving, the engine started to sputter and my car shut off twice while in traffic. I managed to just barely get the car into the driveway of a Jiffy Lube where the car completely gave out. Luckily, one of the mechanics was there to help me pull the car in but I had to wait for the main mechanic to get back from lunch. The other mechanic checked the problem to discover the issue was that Midas didn't put the plug back in properly which lead to all of my oil bleeding out and blowing my engine. Once the main mechanic got back, he gave me the run down on what I should do (thank God for him!). I called Midas and helped me talk to the manager (Rico) at Midas to get the car back to them. Initially speaking with Rico about the issue, he tried to get me to call my insurance to call a tow (which I shouldn't have had to do since it wasn't my fault to begin with) and told me he would look at the car but advised that they wouldn't cover anything if there was other damage to it that didn't fall under what they had done. Considering I had only driven the car 1 week after their job, I found this to not be the best response to give a customer you want to come back. I called him back after speaking with the Jiffy Lube manager again who told me to get Midas to provide a tow since it was their issue. I called and spoke with Rico again who provided me with the name of one tow company who I called only to find out they were closed. I spoke with Rico again who offered me another tow company (Pinky Tows). Needless to say I was highly frustrated at this point. They were able to come out and get me pretty quick and a friend took me back to Midas. I had my father-in-law come and meet me there since he knows a lot about cars and to make sure Midas didn't try to pull one over on me. Thankfully, Rico, after looking at the car, decided to take full responsibility and they covered the damages (equaling up to installing a new engine) which I was very grateful for. Unfortunately, I did end up having to come back here a THIRD time a couple weeks later after there were other issues and other services lights that randomly started popping up as a result of what they ended up doing to it. I came back and they fixed whatever the issue was, free of charge. My experience here was definitely a stressful one but I will give credit to the manager for taking responsibility for the fault and covering the costs. Though I wouldn't recommend this business to someone looking to get a good job done the FIRST time. Next time, I'm going with Jiffy Lube. read more

They always explain everything so you understand what they're going to be doing, before they start and with a quote, I appreciate that. This location is horrible. Don't go there. I asked for an estimate that was supposed to be done on Monday because I had a deadline to file an insurance claim. (Rico) The manager said He would email or text me on Monday. He never called or emailed on Monday like He said He would. When I called to follow up on the estimate the lady (Charlene) that answered the phone was rude and could care less. They said the manager (Rico) would get back to me. I had to follow up again in the afternoon. Now they are telling me they won't be able to do the job. They should have told me that on Monday and I could have gotten the estimate from somewhere else. Waste of time!!! Also they charge an arm and a leg for jobs. Go to a local mechanic, they will charge half of the price. read more
