Midas is beyond unprofessional. I went in for a routine inspection. I have a newer car, that is very well cared for. Driven daily but not driven rough. John W, the manager at Midas, failed me for my inspection. Their reason for doing so was the sidewalls of my tires. John then told me that if I go anywhere else I'm not gonna pass since unless I buy new tires. He explained to me, no other mechanic would pass this car, even went as far as saying he wouldn't put his daughter in the car. After that I was coerced into buying two new tires at higher than their price on MIDAS website. Beyond unprofessional. DO NOT GET YOUR CAR INSPECTION HERE. I came in for a $55 inspection but was forced into a $700 brake job or else they would fail the inspection. The check engine light dilemma will always be upsetting. Engine code PO456, ESIM, purge valve problematic error code. Rocky the service tech assured me. They will resolve the issue. There computer tech's are the best. After completing a smoke test and a computer diagnostic, he called me back to confirm the codes and repairs. He suggested the replacement parts be authorized manufacture ESIM module and purge valve. I appreciated the suggestion. It is very easy to be taken advantage of "check engine light error." I've been taking my car to this Midas for about three years, but I think this might be my last visit. It almost breaks my heart to even write a bad review, because every other time I've taken my car in, I've been blown away by how great the service was. I wonder if Sean, the great guy who had been managing this place, has left. I brought my car in for brakes (made an appointment, mind you). I was told they could get me finished up by 3. I brought it in at 9 am. Four hours went by without even an update or estimate of repairs. I actually had to call them because I was getting concerned that it wouldn't be done the same day. I'd need to make other transportation plans because it's my only car. After I called, they immediately texted me with the scope of the repairs and a few minutes later, got a call going over repairs, including a confusing note that I need an oil change, which I'd just gotten done a month ago. Got everything sorted and then was told I'd get a call when it was done. Literally had to call again to find out if I could pick it up. I'm so disappointed. I need new tires soon, but I think I'm taking my car somewhere else. If the old manager has been replaced, the new guy needs to learn better communications skills. People have to make arrangements for transportation, and if I don't know what's going on with my car, things get complicated. read more

Discovered a squeaking noise on Friday morning (4/5/24) and was able to get an appointment that afternoon to get it checked out. Customer service is top notch! Sean was so helpful and handled everything from start to finish, including dealing with my warranty company, so I had nothing to worry about. The mechanic explained what he found in a way I could understand and at that point I was very comfortable leaving my vehicle in his hands. They were able to locate the squeaking noise, order parts, and get the repair done in less than a week. I dropped my car off for the repair before work and it was completed before I left the office. Don't bother with this Midas location on Mineral Spring Ave in North Providence, RI. they don't confirm appointments when you book them! I don't know why Midas offers you the option to request appointments through midas.com and then the individual locations don't respond. You are better off calling by telephone! I brought my car here for an inspection and for a quote on a belt. I had an appointment but it took about an hour and a half. It failed inspection for a cracked windshield, plate light out and a small exhaust leak. They gave me a quote for the belt of $100 which seemed reasonable but $226 for the exhaust repair which sounded expensive. My plate light would cost $15 and an air filter $30. I drove down to Action auto and bought a filter for $11 and a bulb for $4. I went to my husbands repair shop New England Auto Repair on Charles street and got a quote from Dave for the belt and the exhaust repair of $225! A whopping $100 less! Needless to say they did the repairs and I bought it back to Midas for reinspection and it passed. I stopped by without an appointment for the reinspection and it took maybe 5 minutes. They're really nice here just a little over my budget for repairs. Side note: I double checked the estimate after reading the response from Joe @midas. The estimate # is 143393. The cost quoted to repair the exhaust was $226.95 ( ex/bolt spring kit 19.99 exhaust pipe $7.50 exhaust gasket $29.99) breakdown was 12.57 for shop supplies, 57.48 parts, 4.90 tax, and $152 for labor totaling $226.95. I was correct in my original review regarding quote. The cost at New England auto for repair of exhaust was $150 (the labor alone would have cost me $2 more at Midas). Dave also replaced a front exhaust gasket for $0. The estimate to replace the exhaust was a whopping $356.26 but oddly the labor included in this was less ($95.00). read more

Went here because I needed tie rod(s) replaced and to figure out why my truck drinks oil and coolant. Told my truck needs both tie rods, ball joints on front end and fluid all over steering rack. Total: $1700+. I take it to my roommates mechanic friend and he looks it over and says that the guy at Midas loosened the hose clamps and my oil filter. Didn't put it back! Could have done devastating damage to my truck!!! Do not go here! They scam you and then try to charge you huge money for stuff that doesn't need doing. read more

These guys are simply outstanding, truly the best at what they do. Owner Joe is also a Master Mechanic, not just owner only, so he definitely knows what he's talking about and everything going on in the shop. My Mechanic D is also a Certified Master Mechanic (very rare these days) and he is a wizard working on cars! I love how D showed me my car when it was up on the lift and we discussed everything, right down to how to even save hundreds of dollars. The store manager Nick is also excellent, courteous, professional and extremely knowledgeable on pretty much anything pertaining to any car. I can say the same about the assistant store manager Steve. All in all, I give these guys and this Midas location 5 billion stars, across the board. They are fair, reasonable and there is no confusion as to how much a job may cost as they run up multiple price quotes for you to compare and contrast. I can not recommend this Midas strongly enough. Beware of this place! Took my car here to get a few things looked at. They stated my headlight was beyond repair & I needed a new one. Told me it would be $800 if they did it all. But $250 to install a headlight I got on my own. I was also having trouble with my ac, all they told me is that it would be really expensive because they would have to take apart the whole dash & it wouldn't be worth doing till the ac was fully gone. I ended up bringing it to another Midas closer to where I work. They told me what I was told was completely inaccurate. A screw was lose in my headlight & they adjusted the beam...$50. And they fixed my ac problem without having to take apart the whole dash for $200. Total spent $300 vs $250 from this place to change out my "broken headlight" I will never go back to this Midas. My oil change for 2004 Saab 9-3, which cost me $55.00 dollars in Austin, TX, cost me $78.00 here. They also recommended that I switch out all my fluids which should be done at my intermediate service at 105k, so that was a nice update. I felt uneasy at $80.00, but I was already there so, why not? They noted a LOT of problems to my car on the report they handed me after everything that I apparently declined as far as service. I declined the fluid swap, but they didnt mention most of the other stuff listed. Not too pleased with the price. I had to re-do my budget because it was more than I was expecting. I liked the people though. The guy, who I assume was the manager, was kind to everyone who came In and gave them as good of information as he could gather and offered other services. One more oddity was that I think they drove my car to the autozone down the street to pick up my oil, which was a little confusing/concerning. To note: Previous review was done out of frustration. Beware, beware. Coupon states Oil change and tire rotation for $19.95. So I make an appointment for my daughter in law for the oil change in her 2013 Honda Accord. I told her they will try to up sell you because of the low coupon. Sure enough, they told her she needed synthetic oil or the engine would blow up. So instead of paying $19.95 she ended up paying over $60. They also gave her a laundry list of things that needed to be done. I called them and asked them if they had a good laugh after she left. They said that that's what Honda says the car needed was synthetic oil. I told them that the car had been many times for oil changes to the Honda dealer and they never recommended or put synthetic oil in the car and the engine never blew up. So again beware, beware, beware, they will up show you as much as they can because of the low coupon price. read more

Do not waste your time or money. I hate to leave a poor review, but I feel that other potential customers should be warned. We brought our car here for a simple oil change after receiving a coupon for a complete oil change for $21.99. Since the mileage on the car was over a certain limit, we needed synthetic oil. The fine print on the coupon actually specified the price was not to exceed $35 even if synthetic oil was used. We got an estimate of $70 from this Midas for the oil change alone, along with some other suggested unnecessary work we could have done to the car. We ended up taking the car to our usual place, which charged us all of $28.00 for the same thing. No hassle and no song and dance. Why bait potential customers with a coupon and then not honor it once they are there? A better business strategy would be to provide excellent customer service and honor the coupons they provide, creating a good relationship for return customers and good word of mouth referrals. I went to Midas for a state inspection. I dropped the car off and figured I would be able to pick it up with no problems, except perhaps a worn windshield wiper. Bad news for me -- Midas managed to find just under $1,000 worth of work that simply HAD to be done before they would pass my car. I knew this could not be right since I take good care of my car and always bring it into my mechanic for service anytime something doesn't seem right. And wouldn't I know if that much work had to be done to my car!? Midas did NOT want me taking the car with me without it having passed inspection. There was nothing in their report that rendered the car undriveable, but they wanted all of the work done by Midas, right then and there. They did not want me taking it to my own mechanic for (1) a second opinion and (2) to perform the work on their laundry list of "necessary" repairs. After battling with the man who called me with the bad news, he had his manager call me. His manager then said everything he could to get me to agree to just sign off on allowing Midas to perform these repairs then and there. I said no, and hustled down to Midas to get my car. I managed to drive it out of there, but not without yet another fight. I drove directly to my regular mechanic in North Providence, who went through the inspection report. He called me a short while later and reported some good (but not surprising) news. Most of the items listed by Midas as things that HAD to be repaired were perfectly fine. It would cost a little of $100 to do a couple of things, including replacing the windshield wipers. Fortunately, and unknown to me when I first brought the car to Midas, my mechanic also performs state inspections. My car passed with flying colors, costing me just over $100. But I expected to replace. I expected to pay $300-$700; $175 did the job. Jameson walked be from to back on the 2004 Grand Cherokee - and told me where else to take the car for specific issues (multiple leaks) and what he could do in the future. And how to save $100s in areas. He explained how to approach each problem area, leaks, seals, shocks, brakes. A big relief that guarantees I will return to their knowledge efficiency and honesty. Don't ever go here. I left my car for an oil change, the guy tells me 30-40 min. I came back 40 min later, and they are just putting my car up. There was no one there when I arrived. When I walked back in, there is no hello or explanation why my car is just now getting serviced. Total waste of time and money. I should have gone to providence automotive up to the street. Don't Go Here!!!!! They can't be trusted! I asked them to replace my muffler and they put an ugly, old, rattley muffler on my car. The worst part is that they said "if you have any problems just bring it back and we'll be happy to fix it!" Apparently they were lying. As I drove the car home, the muffler began to rattle. I promptly turned around and went back with my complaint. They had three mechanics take a look at the car then wrote off the sound as the result of materials in my trunk bouncing around. I took their word, although it seemed like a strange coincidence for this rattling of "loose materials" to start right after they repaired my muffler. Not surprisingly, the sound came back a few days later, and has annoyed me on every ride since. When I brought the car back with the same complaint they had a mechanic take a ride with me. After 20 mins of driving on the highway I decided to head back to the shop, confused as to why the sound wouldn't pop up again. Then when we accelerated up a hill, after getting off the highway, I realized what made the sound, accelerating after a complete stop. To my surprise the mechanic, and the other mechanics in the shop assured me that it was a suspension problem that made the contents of my trunk rattle around when I hit bumps. I was shocked by their response. Despite my resistance to their complain, they proceeded to try to convince me to buy a new suspension system from them. It was complete bullshit. They were taking me for a ride and I'm embarrassed that I didn't see it earlier. They messed up a major, costly repair on my car and they were trying to cover it up. I was so shocked, disgusted, and appalled by their out right unethical behavior that I left and have not returned. I ate the cost of the muffler, the cost of the drop in resale value, and the cost of fixing it again in the future. There are more details that make this story of fraud more obvious but I don't have the patience to type them all out. The bottom-line is that you should never trust the Midas, on Mineral Spring Avenue, with your car. They cannot be trusted. Although, I am aware that they only do this sort of "pulling the wool over your eyes" to certain candidate customers. Unfortunately, I clearly met the criteria for an easy victim. Went in with a coupon for $25 Oil Change. They came up with a list of things over $1500 to be changed. It sounded serious so I agreed to change half in the list as they seemed very friendly. They make you sign paper work so you cant argue later. Later on when I asked around for prices for rest of items on list, other mechanics didn't see any problems in them. Midas was trying to make me change good working parts, to make some easy money. They use their own parts which are as pricey as original Dealer parts or costlier. Never going to them again. Worst company ever. Went in for an oil change, they tried to get me to fix stupid stuff. They stripped the lug nut on my tire and didn't tighten them enough when the put my tires back on. Had my 11 ya old daughter and sister in the car. Headed to westerly for some end of summer fun. Got offrom at exit 1 heard a loud noise in the back of my jeep. Pulled into DD found my tire wobbly and I could wiggle the whole tire. Found some good Samaritans who could tighten it for me. Come to find out 3 out of the 4 lugs were very loose. My husband called the owner who denied any wrong doing. Please for your own safety take you car anywhere else. A extremely pissed off customer. read more
