Decent service at above average prices. I don't like the fact that they only work with their parts which are overpriced. They also gave me a mis-diagnosis recently of about $450 which I solved somewhere else for $80. I have taken my cars here for oil changes and new tires which they have done a decent job with. Best mechanic here is Joe. Squeezed me in towards the end of the day (I do appreciate their long hours) and did an inspection which failed for missing registration stickers, gave me a break to run home and get them and send me on my way with my new inspection. I would recommend the ill informed service advisor not argue with the customer with inaccurate information such as stating that there is not a transaxle or differential in a front wheel drive vehicle or Advising individuals to safely only purchase one tire that would be used on a drive Axle. Advising something like this goes against ASE recommendations where depth on both tires sharing the same axle are similar depth. This is why I asked if they happen to have a used tire that had a similar wear pattern rather than replacing it with a brand new one otherwise I would have to replace at least two on the drive axle in order for the differential to not suffer unnecessarily wear and tear. It is my understanding that they do not sell Used tires which from insurance standpoint makes sense. I was about ready to purchase all new tires, but because of this unnecessary interaction, I'm taking my business elsewhere. If he did some homework or actually went to mechanic school like this particular potential customer. He would be aware that the differential is housed in the transaxle of a front wheel drive vehicle. Got it back the same day, light came right back on. Returned Nov 4th and found out they replaced one spark plug instead of fixing the actual issue -- a misfiring coil. Still charged me for their mistake. On my latest visit, they kept my car from 9 AM to 5:30 PM, charged me $50, and still didn't diagnose the heat issue or the check engine light. O'Reilly figured it out in five minutes. The worst part? When I picked up my car, the hood latch was broken -- something that was perfectly fine before. When I told them, Eric denied responsibility and refused to fix it. They also refused to finish the repairs they already acknowledged were needed. From the moment I walked into the store, Erik had an issue with me. He has no decorum when talking with guests and automatically jumps to defensiveness. Context: I wake up with a flat tire. I call Firestone to see if they can take care of it so that I can get to work. I am told they can and that it wouldn't take long. When I get there, Im told it's going to take hours, which I couldn't do because of work. I end up leaving the tire for them to work on and set an appointment for the next day. when I arrive the next day, simply to put a tire on, for which I have an appointment, I am told it's going to take at least an hour. I am surprised because I have an appointment and while I'm not a mechanic, I imagine a tire change to be relatively quick compared to other issues they deal with. Again, Erik pulls an attitude. I am grateful to the other employee, Dylan, who stepped in to mitigate the situation, but this experience felt demoralizing and unnecessarily rude. I've been taking my truck and car there for years and they have consistently given me more issues than I went in with. So happy to never go back. Always a new warning light on the dashboard when I leave that they never claim responsibility for. I had tires replaced and left with tire pressure sensor light on that I have never seen. When I asked about it they told me to take it to the dealer. I took my truck in for a check engine light. They told me it would be $1300 to change the fuel sensor. I paid and left with the check engine light on. When I called them ten minutes after picking the truck up they told me to go to the dodge dealer. I've spent well over $12,000 at this business and won't be spending another penny there. Customer service isn't a term that these folks are familiar with. read more

Months go by and I had to bring it in again because my heat was not working. They said I need a water pump! I told them they just changed the water pump! I have a lifetime alignment, balance and rotation deal with my car through Firestone. Elsewhere (other Firestone locations), I have dropped it off & picked it up... no issue. I have been here twice. The first time, though the guy looked up my record when I told him I needed an alignment (and could see that I had a package also including the balance and rotation), rather than confirm that I didn't, in fact, want the services that I had paid for, they just assumed I did not and only did the alignment. After about an hour and a half, I left, annoyed. Fast forward to my next visit... this time I was crystal clear. I made an appointment, I was told it would be 1.5 hrs (I waited there), I gave explicit directions. I wanted all the services I had paid for.... alignment, balance, and rotation. After over 2 hrs, and no information, no "sorry for the wait", no "here's an update", etc., I was getting angry. When I asked if it was almost done, the guy who I had spoken with earlier walked away. The other guy checked and said my car was just about done... When I checked the receipt a few days later, they had not in fact, done the rotation -- AGAIN! WTF? I may drive a little farther to check out another location as they are 0 for 2. The only thing that gave them an extra star is that they are pet friendly and I don't have to pay for each visit because of the plan I purchased last year. read more

Ran over a screw with a brand new tire (bought elsewhere). The screw was in the tread so I brought it in for a patch because it was close to work. They told me they couldn't patch it. They were surprised I wasn't going to just buy a new one. I had my doubts and brought it to my regular mechanic who patched it no problem, as I expected. LEAD DOWN THE WRONG PATH FOR A FULLY WARRANTIED PROBLEM! Without going into all of the details, I just wanted to give you all a heads up to think twice about doing any needed auto service/repairs at Firestone Complete Auto Care in North Smithfield, RI (at least at this current moment in time). I was convinced by the service manager and technition that replacing "this and that" would fix a very specific problem when it was something else all along. What makes this so frustrating is that I had suspected the exact cause of the issue all along and discussed this with the manager who wrote up my work order, from the very beginning. Unfortunately, they choose to lead me down another path, fixing and/or replacing items that were not contributing to the problem and causing me to needlessly spend over a $1,000 above and beyond the actual issue, which, get this, turns out to be exactly the very thing that I suspected. A $150.00 part that this service center had previously replaced in my vehicle a few years ago and was under a lifetime warranty! They swindled me big-time! read more

I went there for an oil change fully knowing that my car had some much deeper issues that needed to be addressed. I didn't bring them up before they did the oil change but they brought them to my attention after doing the work. Their findings were expected and the estimate they gave me and it ended up being slightly more than the actual cost which was a pleasant surprise. They got the work done in a timely manner and kept me appraised of what was going on. I left my car overnight to have a flat fixed and was told it would be ready next morning. I returned next day by Uber and they had not even looked at the tire. I took Uber back because it was going to be several hours waiting. Now I was told the tire was not repairable and had to be replaced which was a pirelli with less than 2000 miles they don't carry that brand so a longer wait. A week after having a new tire put on I noticed a slow leak and returned to Firestone to have the leaking tire inspected They are too busy and want me to come back the next day and drive with the almost flat tire. I have had similar experiences with Firestone and will not return. There are much better service centers with higher levels than do service. read more

I brought my car in for brake work last week, and they did a poor job. First, they misdiagnosed the problem - they thought I needed a new caliper when it turns out I only needed a brake hose. Then, they ordered the wrong part and I had to wait an extra day to get my car back. Finally, after visiting another mechanic for a separate issue, I was told that the brake hose was not clamped on properly and was leaking brake fluid, and that I should have Firestone fix it under warranty. Not sure if I will go back since they screwed it up three times already. Also, as for the separate issue that I mentioned above - I had a water pump fail on me after having my brake work done. I brought it in to Firestone and asked their opinion, and they suggested that I needed a new engine due to some catastrophic failure related to the piston seals and rods. They wanted $3,400 and two weeks to fix the whole thing or else I should just get rid of my car. I brought it to Pep Boys across the street, and they told me that I just needed a couple of belts and a new water pump/thermostat, and they would get me back on the road in a couple hours for $900. I'm not sure how Firestone can get away with lying to their customers like this or just hiring completely incompetent technicians. Pep Boys did the work and fixed it right, and my car runs and sounds good as new now. So much for needing a new engine - thanks Firestone! I'm never going there again. read more

Eric sucks, the worst human I have ever meet at communication. Quite fortotius that when I dropped off my vehicle he was bickering with a woman on the phone. When I was given an estimate I said I needed to consider it and when I called back with approval, the estimate was now a different total for the same work. I've been going here for the past 5 years for state inspections, tires, oil changes, and some car repairs. Although they may be pricey comparatively than bringing it to my uncle and having him do repairs for practically the cost of the parts, I've never had an issue with shoddy parts or poorly done work by the guys who work here. The people that I usually interact with are very respectable and never pushy when it comes to them finding other issues that need to be fixed. One time they had quoted me a price for some repair work on my car. I waited a few months later for them to do it and they still honored the price they quoted. Now I find that outstanding. Only one star off for price, but all in all I know its worth it. read more

How much should you have to spend on a burnt out headlamp? $1000?. Initially told that the bulb and a 'socket' needed to be replaced at a cost of over $300. Granted it is an HID Xenon but though it seemed like a lot I told them to proceed. a few days later the headlight goes out again. While we waited about a month to take it back in we were then told that we had to pay an addition $100 to diagnose. They came back with a $600 estimate to replace the ballast. Last straw. Brought my car here for an inspection. When I came to pick it up they told me I had failed and the suggested repairs came to $2800. The next morning I went to the dealer and paid for an additional inspection. The total bill was $87.50 including the additional $55 for the inspection. All it needed was one bolt that had fallen out. Dropped my vehicle off around 10am for oil change and either fix tires or replace them (fleet vehicle), said it would be ready by five and would call me. Never got a call showed up at 6:30 they did the oil change and a bunch of other stuff I didn't ask for! But neglected to fix my tires, went to get in my car and one tire is totally flatt! C'Mon man. BEWARE!!! Took our car in for new tires and asked them to check a rattle we were hearing. When we got it back it was not only late they hadn't checked the rattle, didn't check the alignment AND the front passenger side was leaking air from around the rim. Not cool!! We had to bring it back a few days later to check the alignment. Given all the problems we had the first time, we got them to do the alignment on the house BUT when we came to pick it up it was leaking break fluid. Our breaks were recently done. Firestone wanted $575 to do just that one break. We took it home, opened it up and someone had loosened the break line just enough to leak. We tighten it and no more leak. Seems pretty suspicious that a car with fairly new breaks would come back to us "seriously needing service" after we had raised a fuss about poor service. It should be criminal to knowingly put hardware on a car that will cause it to fail inspection. Please read the whole review to understand. Two years ago I experienced a flat tire. Firestone sold me a new one (a bit pricey, but no issues yet). One day later, same tire went flat. It was then that they realized that they should have checked something the day before "oops"... the rim was cracked. So I bought a replacement rim that fit my car and they put it on for me. Fast forward to now: I walk in to Firestone to get my state inspection done. However, my car failed inspection because one of my rims was missing a TPMS sensor. I dare you to guess which rim. The rim that they put on my car made me fail inspection! Again, it should be criminal to knowingly put hardware on a car that will cause it to fail inspection. read more

These guys are the closest mechanics to my house, and I really, REALLY wish they weren't. Every time I come here, the price I get charged is more (significantly more) than quoted, and that's even before we get into the unnecessary extra work that they inevitably think I need. I brought it in this most recent time for an oil change. The sign on the street reads "$14.99!" Imagine my dismay when I am asked to sign a slip authorizing a whopping $62 and change. Now, I know the trick that all oil-change places pull, the "fees and disposal extra" one, but Firestone very helpfully itemizes their bill so I could clearly see they were charging me $34.99 even before those things. (And this was somehow with my AAA discount applied, too!) I was frowning at the bill, not signing it and honestly trying to figure out what was extra, when the employee, an incredibly unhelpful individual with a badge reading "Scott B" snaps at me "What's wrong? Number too confusing?" I get it, right. I'm a girl. I'm not supposed to know cars, and he's Mr. Big Bad Mechanic Man. Who am I to dare to question him!? His tone was insulting enough that even dim little girly me got it. I point to the price and say, quite politely, "This is not the price I was quoted last night when I made my appointment. Why?" His response was "Well, that guy's not here today." ....the heck? How is that even relevant? Fine. Whatever. I need my oil changed, so I leave the car and go, telling them I need it by three. "Scott B" even repeats that back to me. One pm they call me to tell me it needs more work, predictably. Some of it is obviously garbage. I approve the bits that seem reasonable, and ask them if it can still be done by three, since that's important. Sure, he says. Four thirty, I give up and call. They tell me it might not be done at all today (um, not good!) and unlike the previous times I've been there, I can't pay over the phone and pick it up later. Supposedly that's not their fault, that's federal law. Right. Because every other mechanic, eery business that takes cards over the phone, and even THESE MECHANICS just have been violating that. (Lies.) The guy I talk to says he'll go check on the car and call me within ten minutes. Half an hour later, I call again. "Oh, it'll be done in twenty." ....but half an hour ago, it might not have been done today. What? And after all this? I am handed a piece of paper when I pick it up that says they broke a stud off while doing the brakes. When I ask about that, I'm treated as an idiot and as if *I* am the one who's done something wrong when I ask if that got fixed. Oh, and delightful "Scott B" gives me shit about how I supposedly have an attitude. I didn't until you treated me like crap, buddy. Yeah. I hear the manager, Dave, is a nice guy. I went in because my car hit a curb the other day when I had trouble breaking making a turn during the snow. Hayley was so nice and helpful and understood I was in a bind with money so called me if anything had to be changed. Unfortunately, she called to tell me that there was more damage to my car and the quote to change 3 parts with the alignment was close to 900 dollars. She was nice enough to break down what I needed fixed and even got me the information on the rim for my car too. I called around and found out that Benny's across the street would charge me 350 for all the same work, labor included. I was shocked at the drastic difference in price and even called Hayley at FIrestone to question their cost. I got in touch with someone else on the line who told me that maybe the guys across the street weren't mechanics (joking) but they must not be charging for the labor and not know that it takes hours to change one part. I called Bennys back again to make sure the parts and prices were right. They ensured me they checked again and it was correct. I called and told Hayley I would pick my car up and bring it to Bennys. She was great and understood why I had to go somewhere else and even said she would do the same too. This morning I got a call from Bennys and they actually told me better news!! I did NOT need the 3 parts replaced that Firestone told me but only one. The cost was going to be now less than $250. All I can say is, customer service at Firestone was great, but the prices are outrageous. If I didn't shop around, I would've paid 900 dollars for work that wasn't even needed and even if it was, I would've saved over 500 dollars on it just going across the street. Luckily, I caught it and saved almost 700 dollars and avoided getting parts changed I didn't need. Lesson learned: ALWAYS SHOP AROUND FOR BETTER DEALS. YOU WILL FIND THEM. read more

I wish I'd thought ahead and checked Yelp before I dropped my car off here to get it inspected, but alas... I had my brakes checked out by my normal mechanic near my grandfather's house and had asked him to check my brake pads, brakes, etc. (brake lights were on constantly so I knew something was wrong). He told me the brake lights were rusted out and needed to be replaced, but that the brake pads, rotors, etc. were all fine. Since then I haven't had a problem with the brakes. I took my car to Firestone because it's close to where I live, and my grandfather's mechanic is in another state. Dropped the car off at 6:50AM, got a ride to work. Around 2:35PM I received a call from a Firestone employee named Dave who informed me that my rear brake drums were over-sized and shot, the driver's side brake-pad was missing hardware (whatever that means), the front rotors were shot and brake fluid was leaking out the front, and both front brake pads were worn down to 2mm and 6mm respectively. In addition, they informed me my Serpentine belt was cracked because it was rubbing on the tensioner which would likely also need to be replaced, but they wouldn't be sure until they replaced the Serpentine belt. My battery was also going to go shortly, the Poly Rib Belt needed replacing (no clue what that is either), the alternator drive belt needed replacing, and the list goes on. When they told me they'd be willing to do this all for the low price of $1,422.66, it took a lot of willpower not to blow up over the phone. Instead, I declined the work, at which point they informed me they'd be failing my inspection. I'll be back on here posting once I take my car and get a second opinion, but I'm confident my car does not need half the work they've recommended, and certainly not at their prices. EDIT: About a week after the Firestone fiasco, I found a local mechanic who I brought my car to. I showed them the list from Firestone and was told I needed to replace the battery, that's it. Total running cost: $60 for the battery plus $40 for the registration. Long story short: only bring your car to Firestone if you enjoy being robbed. read more

I'm from ny and I drove to Rhode Island to visit a friend, right before getting to her I drove over a curb and popped both my tires and cracked my rims. I had it towed to this garage & I have to say the manger Joseph was amazing! He was so polite & extremely helpful, one of the employees Franklin (I believe) even walked down the road to get some gas for me bc my car was so low on gas it wouldn't even start.
