I brought my car in for an inspection and failed for the drive belts. I saw them, they did have cracks so i said change them. When it was done I saw the bill. My car requires 3 belts. 2 belts were 65.99 EACH and 1 belt was 52.99. A grand total of 184.97 for drive belts! I looked around for the price of these drive belts online, the most expensive one i could find was 17.99 same brand. I then called Midas to find out who their supplier was to find out the actual cost of the belts, but they told me they are not sure about which one they get the belt from and just gave me the number to a supplier who i called and found out he doesn't sell those belts to them. I went back to see the manager to discuss the bill and prices. I realize he doesn't make the prices, but its the first person you have to bring these matters to when you have an issue. He is good at his job, first telling me that i agreed to the work and paid for it, then after pressing him for any more information on anything i can do, he said i could get an estimate from another place that shows the price of the belts for a price match. So i call another Midas, I figured stay with the same company so all policies/gurantees are comparable only parts prices would possibly be different, it was 45 mins north of where i live and got an estimate and brought it in, by this point he relays a message that he will meet with me outside. I imagine this is so the the other customers aren't effected by overhearing what i am going through. By the way i am a military service member in uniform, so i was in no way losing my bearing under the situation. I understand that this is a process and as with most complaints it will take a while before you get anywhere with it. The manager looked over my estimates and noted that the only difference was the price of the belts at about 100 dollars cheaper at the other Midas, which also offers lifetime warranties. He then gave me a fax number to send the estimates too, turned out to be a land line and not a fax number, i called and got the right fax number, then faxed the estimates. after a week and not hearing anything i called to make sure the fax went through and speak with Chris, the person i addressed the fax to, that's when a very nice woman told me she can not find the fax at the moment and i agreed to just send a new one. a couple of more weeks go by and no word yet, I tried calling the number again and no one is picking up. This has been going on for a month since I had the service done and I am at the point where I am going to try to contact Midas corporate, I think this location should possibly be investigated for price gouging. I realize the prices are marked up for the convenience of having the work done on the spot, but 66 dollars for one drive belt for a 2000 Honda is outrageous, i called the Honda dealership and even they said it cost 17.80 for an oem belt. I wanted to speak with someone from this newburgh repair facility to give them a chance to investigate the prices themselves, maybe its a computer error, but after hitting a brick wall with the phone number i faxed twice and called at least 5 times afterwards without any answers, I believe they are expecting me to go away, so i am going to post my experience online to warn others. In conclusion, I do not recommend getting any actual repairs done her outside of an oil change. Even windshield wipers will cost 30 dollars a piece. If you do have any work suggested by them, ask for a printed estimate and pay close attention to the pricing on your parts. read more

This shop is a RIP OFF. They actually doctor your car to make it look like you need repairs that you don't. I was quoted $700-1100 for repairs needed for inspection. Smelling a rat I refused. I took my car to Century Service in Newburgh. I was right they had faked the conditions. My car passed inspection at Century Service with no problem. DON"T TAKE YOUR CAR TO MIDAS. Not a place to go to if your a woman and you go alone. I look really young so when ever they bring me the extended list of "things that are wrong with my car", the guy at the front desk asks me if my mom and dad can pay for it...Wtf dude that's uncalled for and disrespectful. Also, I went in for an oil change and a tire rotation.. and each time they forgot to do the tire rotation .. as well as top off fluids... You have to watch them. If you are paying for their service they should get it right. Only good thing about this place is paying 21 bucks for an oil change and tire rotation... where they forget to do shit. AWFUL SERVICE! No integrity! I brought my car hear to have them place and O2 sensor and catalytic converter that I purchased into my car which they said was fine. When I went in they told me my cat was bad and they couldn't use it, they would have to use their parts and told me I need to replace the eflex. I got an estimate for the new cat price part eflex and O2 sensor for $750 and they would remove the $119 diagnostic charge so overall $630. I told them I didn't even want to put this much money into my car but ok. I was then picked up and at 5:20pm received a call that my car was finished and ready to be picked up. When I called back I was told the charge was $1021 and they put in a brand new O2 sensor without my authorization. Now I have been given a run around with their customer service department, don't ever bring your car here you will regret it as I do. read more

My wife went to this shop two days before our wedding. She went there only for a oil change and an inspection. They tolled her that her car required synthetic oil, and that she failed her inspection because she needed a new rack and pinion. Charged us almost $100. Next day we are trying to bring her car to the wedding venue, and her car begins to smoke. Called the manager Jay, who helped my wife the previous day, he had no explanation of why it was smoking. We then bring the car to Subaru, who then inspected the car, Midas did not secure the oil filter during the oil change. Due to the shop requiring synthetic oil instead of regular oil, all the oil leaked out of the engine. We also asked if they could look at the rack and pinion, they couldn't find anything wrong with it. They also stated that they could not find any reasoned why her car failed it NYS Inspection. We had to pay Subaru almost $1000 to repair what Midas had done. We called the shop, but never returned any of our calls. We made a complaint with corporate and are still waiting for the regional manager to call us. This is a month and half ago, and we are still out $1,100 from what they did to our car. DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP!!!! There is plenty of other shops in the area that wont scam you. read more

I started having problems with my car. First, I brought the car to the Midas in Middletown . They fixed the car. I brought it back 3 times with the same problem. They tell you every rim that there is another problem. I spent another $800. Then they tell me the axel has to be replaced. I started to find this odd because the car was originally checked out and these problems were not found. I went to the Newburgh Midas. As I was waiting for my car to be checked out I heard asst. manager Ralph Torelli telling a customer that the oil change was not needed at this time because this person did not put a lot of mileage on since the last oil change. I was shocked to hear such honestly as I heard more and more while waiting. My car needed work and I decided to do it in the Newburgh store where I felt a more trusting atmosphere. My car was going to take awhile, Jermaine Lloyd drove me to the nearby gym I am a member at. These employees work together and are very dedicated. I recommend the Newburgh store. read more

I went to midas to have some exhaust work done to my 08 Tundra and at first everything seemed to be in order, little did i know i was going to be screwed over. I spoke to a young kid at the desk about that work i wanted done, stainless steel pipes new muffler and the placement of the pipes. I asked if he could call me when the mechanic had the truck on the lift so we could be on the same page about what i wanted done. The kid said it would be about 2 hrs before the mechanic could get it on the lift and he would call me to come down (I only live 5 minutes away) and talk to the mechanic. I received no call so i called and spoke to the kid, he said the mechanic looked at it and when he was ready to do the work to my truck he would call me. I once again didn't get any call and it at this time the shop was closed, I figured they didn't get to my car because they were busy so the next day i stopped by the shop. When i walked in i asked the manager if my truck was going to be done today, he said your truck is all ready and its around back, I was like WTF. Bottom line was the mechanic did a horrible job and it was not what i wanted, it looked horrible. Don't get any work done here, horrible experience and bad finished product read more

Worst. Experience. Ever. They were a total rip off and did not fix the problem at all. I first went in when my check engine light was on and my left blinker was not working. They did a diagnosis on the car and told me that I needed to replace the ignition coils on cylinders 3 and 4. They also told me that they changed the bulb for the left blinker light. So those problems went away for a little less than a week for $600.Then the left blinker stopped working again, and the check engine light came back on. So I took it back to them and they claimed that they never changed the bulb, and that I needed a new coil pack with an attitude. Which would be an additional 400$. Why didn't they just tell me that the first time I went in? I checked the receipt and the bulb was not on the receipt when Jon told me specifically that they changed the bulb. So they are absolutely not trustworthy and way over priced. I am a young professional woman in my early 20s, so I went to Midas for the brand and even over paying a little bit just to get the right service. But obviously they were a huge disappointment and I am never going back there. I would not recommend this to anyone. read more

I am not happy. Called for a price for entire muffler system. Talked to Chris he gave me a price. I gave him everything about my truck model year etc. He gave me a price of 547.00 plus tax for a complete system. I was calling around and it seemed to be the going price so thinking that it is midas and the warranty I should go to them. I called back 2 weeks latter and talked to Chris again. He confirmed the same price to me. I wanted to make appointment for that Saturday. He took my name phone etc and said see you Saturday. when I got there Chris wasnt there. I talked to Joe and he said no appointment was scheduled for me. He said don't worry he would take care of me. I left my truck off he calls me back and states the cost will be 640.00 dollars plus tax. Really I don't have the patience or tolerance for this kid of business. Make a long story short. He said he would replace the entire system. I drove my truck home and parked it. I only use my truck for my business so I took it Thursday for the first time and I can hear a leak in the exhaust.
