A TON of bad reviews here - including mine. I brought my wife's 2012 Ford Focus in because the air conditioner wasn't blowing cold air consistently. They said it needed a new air compressor, drive belt and a pressure switch and charged me $1,799.95. That didn't fix the problem - the air conditioner still didn't work and now a had a new problem, there was a whining noise coming from the engine. They said I needed a new belt tensioner and charged me ANOTHER $496.78. THAT didn't fix the problem. They had the car for 10 DAYS and the manager said the technicians are "shaking their heads" trying to figure out what the problem is (Junior High School dropouts perhaps?) and NOW they say I need a new fan assembly and condenser for ANOTHER $1,263!!! That makes it $3,559.73 to fix the problem?? NO WAY!! Needless to say, I took the car back from them and called my credit card company to dispute the charges I already paid for. Wish me luck please. Beware Before You Spend Your Hard-Earned Money Here Recently, I had the misfortune of dealing with Midas of Nanuet, and I feel compelled to share my experience to save others from going through the same frustration. Here's what happened. We paid for a new battery, supposedly covered by a three-year warranty. When that battery failed, I returned to Midas, only to be told by their team that the problem was with everything but the battery. Not convinced, I took the car to Mercedes, who confirmed that, in fact, the main battery was the issue all along. Armed with proof from Mercedes and the receipt for the replacement battery, I went back to Midas for a prorated refund on the battery they sold me. Instead of accountability, I got the brush-off. Manager Mike claimed he wasn't "allowed" to make any decisions, and every interaction since has felt like an exercise in dodging responsibility. If you're looking for a shop with integrity and respect for their customers, look elsewhere. This establishment has demonstrated that they lack both, with management that seems more interested in giving you the runaround than honoring their word. I've replaced belts, plugs, coil packs, fuel injectors, window regulators myself. Two days prior I replaced my the rear shocks on my own. I would have down the front strut assembly too, but just didn't have the time. Moreover, an alignment would still be needed, so I figured I would just let a mechanic do it, even if paying a premium for the service. I've used this location before for work on my exhaust system, and have always been pleased with the quality and price. I had already purchased the replacement strut assemblies. They provided a price for the install, and I dropped it off. I receive a call a bit later advising that the "front sway bar is loose." I asked how much to replace and accepted the work. When I pick up the car and reviewed the receipt/invoice (which conspicuously they could not get to print until after my credit was approved) I noticed the part details. First line says "Sway Bar Kit" which is what I expected to be replaced. I then notice the description underneath says Sway Bar Link qty 2. I inquired with the rep if the entire bar:kit was replaced or was this simply the two links. He replied "No, that's just the two links that were replaced. Any questions, speak with Don." I have an idea of how much sway bar links cost, and this unreasonably high. He states that is the price from their warehouse, "not some second rate items from Amazon, which is probably why they needed to be replaced." Wrong. It was the original Ford parts, with 140k miles and front struts that were shot. After 45 minutes she asked how much longer it would be, and was told any minute. 30 minutes later she was still waiting, and asked again for an update and this time let the person know she needed to get to an appointment very soon. The guy walked away and was talking to the mechanic, and she can hear him tell the guy "she's being a Bitch, now it will take longer" The fact is that if someone asks can you do an oil change now, they don't expect it to take over an hour, if you realize that it will be that long why not tell her, she can decide if she can wait that long or come back later. Went in for an inspection and the guy at the front desk stated I needed 2 new brake pads and rotors for $600 and something dollars. i took my car to the dealership about 2 months back and they stated just my back brakes needed fixing which I told him and not my front ones. So I left.....get this they didn't even charge me for the inspection! So ironically I had to take my car back to the dealership for an a/c issue that same week and I inquired about my brakes. They did the multipoint inspection and stated my front brakes were fine and they showed me. I went to get my inspection at another place and I passed with no problem. I should have known that this place was going to rip me off. I was in a need of a new tire and this place was my only option at the time. The front desk guy sensed my frustration and the need to get my issue fix immediately. The front desk guy instead of helping me out he overcharged me for the tire that it's not even a brand name. I've previously changed tires for this car and the tires have never ever cost me over 90 including taxes and installation. This company charged me 140. When the services was done they didn't calibrate my car sensor properly stating that someone took the sensors off from my tires when you actually have to do it from inside my car using the touch screen. They throw the donut in the trunk smashing my medical equipment and paperwork. What a service ! Walked in and waited 5 minutes while he was on the phone with a customer talking about if you got something or if you didn't get something done.. (Doesn't matter but be with you 1 minute would be great) Then i told him i need a state inspection and great they take the car in.. He come out and says he the car wont pass.. Mind you its's a 2013 honda civic.. 1. Serpentine belt (asked him what they are rated at reply was "30,000 miles" upon further research the belt is rated at 60-80,000 miles.. No noise or anything has affected the driving of the car.. 2. Windshield wipers (expected) I asked to look at belt and again looked good and car has 40,000 miles on it. He showed me little marks on the belt that he said are cracks!! I was n't and still am not happy about this.. He said he wouldn't pass my car if this wasn't done. Talking about being held captive. WARNING: DO NOT GO TO MIDAS IN NA IET! I made an appointment days ago for front breaks and an oil change. I get there at 7:45 and the manager wasn't there. He finally showed up around 8:20. Apparently making an appointment online and giving all of your car info doesn't matter. I sat around until 10:00 and asked about my car and he said "yeah you do need front breaks. My 2012 Nissan Murano just stopped running at a stop sign and white smoke was coming out of the hood compartment and the exhaust pipe. The car was towed to Midas in Nanuet. I called the shop to let them know the car was coming and I explained to Mike the situation and I told him the engine light was also on. After diagnostic Mike called me saying I need the following parts: radiator, alternator, battery and 4 tires. The total was $4,104. When I went to pick up the car, the engine light was one and the car started shaking. I brought it back to the shop. After waiting for five days, a technician called me saying that I had to pay another $1500 to replace the spark plug and the coil, AND HE WAS TRYING TO CHARGE ME FOR THE ALTERNATOR. According to him, that was the reason why the car was shaking. Just save your time and money. These guys will scam you oh so well. In 2019 I went here for a rack and pinion fix, actually I came for an oil change, they told me I had to fix my rack and pinion or else I could be driving dangerously. I didn't know much and they definitely got to me with the pressure. Initially one of the workers told me he could take care of it that day, and told me to wait for a few while they work on it. About 2 hours+ after he says he can't do anything because He needed a whole new rack and pinion. He said because I'd have to leave the car and He told me to wait until he "fixed" it, that he would just discount me the day after when I come to pick it up since he made me wait for nothing. It was a Nice gesture, and didn't fully understand the situation at first so I agreed to leave the car and come back the day after. When I arrive the day after they tell me the car is good and I'm good to go. I asked him how troublesome was the rack and pinion fix and he started mumbling a bunch of stuff that really didn't answer my question. I thought nothing of it. He then proceeded to give my keys and the bill to the manager to ring me up. Once he gave the manager the bill he walked away, and the manger told me my total was about $860.00. I was confused why it was so expensive when the rack and pinion was less than $300 initially. I mentioned that the guy who gave you the bill told me yesterday he would give me a discount. The manager calls him back and he does apply a small discount that took off less than $50. I felt I shouldn't have had to ask for that, but i thought maybe he was too busy. I proceed to ask again, what happened and why was it so much, what did you guys fix? The guy who took my car in said he patched up the area that was leaking, and put in "other things" to set me up "good", and that the cost of parts and labor is why the total was that high. My fault for not realizing or checking, but less than a year after I realized that my "new" rack and pinion, was actually the same EXACT rack and pinion I went in there with. They NEVER changed it, there were NEVER any new parts. So not only did I get SCAMMED by a Local Mechanic but since the rack and pinion was never fixed, it eventually led to a ton of other problems, costing me more money than I ever dreamed of having to spend on a car with 50,000 miles on it. (Rack and pinion damaged originally by bad pothole). Not only was the rack and pinion almost useless, but because it was so bad, it shredded two sets of rear tires (didn't know what was causing it at first) and a lot of smaller issues within that area that still prevented me from driving safely including irregular rotor wear, which I changed 3 times that year before realizing what was causing it. When I was told by another mechanic who actually showed me everything, the old rack&pinion, and the areas that were PATCHED, I realized I was scammed by a mechanic who was trying to just make extra money off someone who had little car knowledge. If I didn't run out of their lame service warranty I would've taken it back, and I felt I should've gone back anyway, but what would I get out of a group of "mechanics" who low ball and scam anyone they feel they can. It felt hopeless and I knew I wasn't going to get any money back. JUST DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! Unless it's an emergency, and if it is, make sure they walk EVERYTHING with you, ask them to show you why your bill costs the amount it does, and have them literally show you what they did. I don't want to call their $19.99 Free oil change/tire rotation a scam, but it is very deceptive. I had a coupon for the above and it said it applied to "most vehicles." I assumed that includes small SUVs like Honda CRVs or Toyota RAV4s. It doesn't. Given the number of these on the road, I don't think they know what "most vehicles" means. When I went in I said i wanted the 19.99 deal (they have a sign out advertising the same thing.) Sure. I got it. While I was waiting I noticed that other customers that got the same deal had the mechanics coming in telling them there were other things wrong with their car, or they needed to use a different more expensive oil so the 19.99 didn't apply. My car is relatively new so I didn't think I'd have any problems. EXCEPT they have a separate sign inside that said the deal doesn't apply to SUVs..they tell me this after they've done the work and charge $27 all in. Thanks for telling me before when I specifically asked for the 19.99 deal. If you insist on using this deal Tips: 1. Ask the final price before they do any work. 2. Mark your tires so you know they were rotated. Advice to management: 1. I have no problem paying extra if I don't comply with your rules, but just be open about it. 2. You're not doing anyone a service by nickel and diming us and telling us there are things wrong with our car. Extremely Unprofessional This location is extremely unprofessional. They man at the front desk, John Silvestro had an attitude right when I walked thru the door at 7:22 for my 7:30 appointment. He laughed at me and the 2 people that were coming in behind me. Saying that we are early. I told him I have no problem waiting and understand its not 7:30 yet. He said well our workers are still not here so it will be a few minutes after 7:30. I said okay - checked in with my name and he didnt even ask about the info of my car until I had to remind him. Several people came in after me to either check in for their appointment or non appointment. He was begrudging to all customers. Its now 8am and I realize that my car is still outside in the parking lot. I went up to John and asked why. He told me that people have appointments at 7:30 also and that its just how it goes in the computer. I reminded him that I was the first person to walk thru the door and the first person that needed an inspection (b/c he so rudely told me they only had 1 inspection machine) a mechanic came in from the garage to give me my keys and apologized to me because they had taken another car that was the same model as mine. BEWARE OF THIS SHOP, AS WELL AS THE NYACK AND WEST HAVERSTRAW LOCATIONS. This shop is owned by the SAME group that owns the Midas Auto Centers in Nyack, West Haverstraw and Middletown, NY. They are very deceptive. Used the Nyack, West Haverstraw and Nanuet locations within the last year. Each gives different reasons for the same car issue. Brought my Nissan to Nanuet center to fix an airbag light and a rattle in the steering wheel when braking. Was told that I needed inner and outer tie rods. They also, said that my airtight was a dirty connector. Paid almost $450.00 for the work (tie rods). They did not charge me for the airbag. Picked up my car and after driving it for a couple of miles I was having the same problem. Brought the car back and was told that I NOW need a ball joint on the drivers side. Argued with the rep who I worked with. Got nowhere. Left and then called the general manager, ... I maintained that I shouldn't have been charged for the tie rods since it obviously wasn't the problem I came in for. They claim that it was needed anyway. This seems very wrong to me ... they should disclose what's exactly wrong with any car, to the consumer, before commencing work and HONOR their work. THEY ARE THE PROFESSIONALS AND SHOULD PROPERLY DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. That is why we pay for the higher service costs. They claim that this is a result of "process of elimination" in diagnosing the problem. Their offer was to only discount the additional work (ball joint) at "their cost" for additional $290 + tax. Their guarantee was as follows, if they perform the work on the ball joint, They claim it is a huge discount. Meanwhile, the airbag light also came back on. The GM "now" guarantees that the ball joint will correct the problem, but "If" it doesn't, he will refund me the money, but remove the tie rods they installed and re-install the old ones .... can't make this stuff up. His response says a lot. Had multiple issues with the other two locations regarding strut installation (Nyack) and an over-inflated quote on motor mounts from the West Haverstraw location (over $2,000) ... the only reason I have gone back when I need car service is because I have a Midas credit card and need to finance the work done to my cars. I been to this Midas Location twice. The first time, I brought in my dying SUV which I inherited from MY parents. The check in was quick and they had free coffee in the waiting room ( which was quite clean). They called me back with letting me know my car had 1,000 other issues (which is to be expected since the piece of junk was a leg in the casket already) and were trying to oversell me a LOT of money to cover these cost. This is to be expected. My second time I came in with my brand new hyundai (The SUV now buried and forgotten) for a simple inspection. Midas 215 West 59 Nanuet, NY Went to Midas with a coupon for a $19.99 or $29.99 oil change and other services offered. I told them just an oil change; do NOT rotate the tires because I had recently put 2 new tires on the car. 90 minutes later, with groceries in the back seat, the "Manager" told me that they could not do what I asked for. I said I asked for an oil change. He said I had to have synthetic oil since I was driving a turbo vehicle. My car is a 2000 Audi A4, that I have owned since 2001. I never ever have used synthetic oil. I asked that I just take my car now, but he said it would take a little while to put the tires back on, when I had told them DO NOT TOUCH THE TIRES. The Manager reported to me that: 1. I needed synthetic oil in the vehicle. 2. My front brake pads were worn very low & I needed new front brakes. 3. My coolant was very dirty and needed changing. 1 week after my visit to Midas, I found oil stains under my car. Under the hood, oil had also spilled. The dip stick showed that the oil was greatly overfilled. MIDAS DID NOT TELL ME THEY PUT ANY OIL IN THE CAR, BUT THEY DID. WHAT KIND OF OIL, I DO NOT KNOW. My husband had to drain off about 3-4 quarts. A day later, I heard some rumbling in the rear left wheel and took off the hubcap to find a lug nut freely tumbling around inside the hub cap. Midas did not safely and securely put the tire back on. On top of that, I brought my car to a trusted auto mechanic who looked at the front brake pads and said about 70% REMAINED, that I had a lot of life left in the brakes for many miles and certainly DID NOT need new front brakes. Lastly, my coolant was all changed in Dec 2014; since then I have only driven about 1,000 miles. No way was the coolant dirty in need of a change-out. You go there for an oil change but they try to scare you into paying for other repairs that are totally unnecessary. They told me one time I needed front brakes desperately. The next oil change they told me I needed rear brakes immediately. I took my car to a trusted mechanic and I didn't need either of those repairs. I have been going to them for five years getting my oil changed and when I needed some work because my engine was rattling they charge me $400 for a repair on the car and it STILL makes the same noise. I went back and complained about this and the guy pushed down on my engine so hard that it now makes a knocking noise when started. Had muffler and exhaust resonator replaced at this location in 2011 for around $800.00. In 2014 the muffler and resonator that was installed by Midas of Nanuet rotted and needed replacement. Thinking the work had a "guarantee" I brought it back. I was informed that the resonator was not "guaranteed" and to fix it I laid out close to $400.00. August 2017 the muffler and resonator that had been not once, but twice replaced by Midas of Nanuet has rotted out Again. I was told the resonator was not "guaranteed", but the muffler was. So I told Midas just to replace the muffler, there reply was "that would be $80.00 for labor". Fed up I took the car back and replaced the muffler, resonator and all clamps that I picked up at AutoZone for less than $150.00 and it took all of 45 - 60 min. The man at the counter was so embarrassed at Midas of Nanuet's "guarantee" that when i picked up the car he only politely apologized and handed me the key to the vehicle. This was experience with Midas of Nanuet, you decide for yourself if you think work on a vehicle should be redone every 3 yrs. extra info..... car was driven only 10,000 miles a year, and currently has 136,000 miles on it. I am updating my review because I am HIGHLY disappointed with Midas. Yet again after my oil change my car has leaked and is completely out of oil. As one can assume I am very agitated as this could have caused my engine to blow. I will NEVER recommend this Midas location to anyone nor will I ever give this location another cent or even my time. I came here for a standard oil change because I had a coupon and it's close to where I work. Turned out I needed new tires--it was legitimate, not a scam--I figured I'm here might as well get it done. By the time I walked out of the place I had paid almost $700. A week later my air pressure signal went on. I took it back and they said it was due to the cold air. Happened again a week later--same story. I had to go back there for the third time on Friday--after putting air in the tires myself twice already. When I was told the same story again I obviously became upset. I've been driving for 10 years and have never had tires lose air like this because of the cold. All the guy said was I can't fix something that's not broken and walked away. I drove cross country and went to get an oil change and the tires rotated. These people saw a girl and thought they could take advantage. They told me they couldn't rotate my tires because my back struts were in desperate need of replacing an $500 bill. I needed a tune up and a whole host of other issues. However just before I left for my road trip I had a trusted mechanic check out my car and he said everything was fine. So after my oil change I took it to another trusted mechanic to get check out just to be safe. Not only did he say the struts didn't need to be replace he said they were better than even the front ones which had already been replaced. So I got stiffed out of the tire rotation. Either this place doesn't know what the hell they are doing or they are scam artists. Either way they are not trustworthy. Do not come here if you can at all help it. read more

What a crappy experience. This was my first time at a Midas, they told me one hour for new tires and rotation - so I left went for a walk come back and the guy tells me five more minutes. Long story short I was there for 3 hours and not treated very well. Not going back. read more
