I have gone to this Midas on a few occasions, I've always been a little skeptical of what was being told to me. But this time I'm sure they scam people at this location. I have the lifetime brake service that they offer. If it's just the brake pads, they would replace them for free. Well, it's been about 16 months since I last had them serviced and they are starting to make noise so I took my car in today. I'm now being told that the last time I was there, I should have gotten the rotors and calipers replaced along with new brake pads, the system needs to be flushed and new brake fluid needs to be inserted. So I asked can't we just resurface the rotors, flush the system and if the pads are bad, replaced them. The answer I got was no, the entire brake system needs to be replaced for $1170. If you don't know anything about cars, DON"T GO to this location, they prey on the innocent! read more

To all my fellow customers, if you're NOT familiar with vehicle maintenance I STRONGLY suggest you take your vehicle else where AT LEAST FOR A SECOND OPINION. PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, from one knowledgeable customer to another. I truly believe these guys will try and find anyway or reason to just charge you a buck and I also believe they try to prey on those who don't know much about vehicle service or repairs. And let me tell you, I know my way around a vehicles mechanical and electrical systems at an advanced level. I've now brought 2 cars here for a brake and light inspection which is $99.99 + certificate+ tax so it ends up being around $150 for one of these. The first car I brought to them was my 1998 Lexus GS400. They checked it and told me my rear brakes need to be changed before they could pass me, which I already knew they were low, so they asked if I would like them to perform the service. I inquired about the prices and they wanted just over $200 to perform this service. $200!!! I told the guy with a straight face, the pads cost $22.95 unless you use Lexus Genuine parts which in that case they're $53.95 (which they get a 10%-15% discount from Toyota/Lexus dealers as a parts dealer so it'd be less). You already have the car on the lift with the wheels and calipers off so it takes you no less than 30 minutes (and thats giving them MORE than enough time to slap the pads on, which should honestly take about 10minutes in this state). So by my math even if the pads cost $60, you are telling me you're charging me $140 for 30minutes of labor to change my rear pads?? EVEN IF I GAVE YOU AN HOUR, which is ridiculous, it should be a MAX of $75-80 in labor. The guy looked at me with a dumbfounded expression on his face and then said "weeellll if you have this done somewhere else I'm going to have to charge you an additional $50+certificate fees when you come back to get rechecked, but don't worry at least its not the full $150 again". This infuriated me, I told the guy i would change my own brakes AND pay the 50+ fees and it would still be $100 cheaper than his work. He then continued to tell me that my headlights could not be HID. ( I had 2 extra HID headlamps installed along side the stock OEM headlamps for better visibility at night). He said weelll you can only have a maximum of 2 HID lamps. Funny, seeing how most current model cars use multiple HID and Bi-Xenon type lamps in place of older conventional halogen lamps. Take the 2016 Lexus is250 for example, uses 4 HID lamps 2 of which are high beam the other the regular low beams, which is the same way my 1998 GS had been set up. Any who, sometime has passed and I now had to bring them my 2001 Subaru Impreza RS for them to perform the same inspection. I checked and rechecked everything to make sure everything was working and in order BEFORE I brought it to them. Well low and behold they get it on the rack only to come back and tell me "weelll your headlights need to be adjusted, but don't worry, we can do that for $29.99". I honestly don't know I kept for loosing my s***. To adjust headlights you need either YOUR FINGER or one 10mm wrench depending on headlamp adjuster design. This literally takes 5 minutes to adjust, just by simply turning on the headlights, and turning the knobs and watching to adjust the pattern projected on a wall. I can't believe these guys!! I wouldn't be surprised if these sleezebags charge $85+ for a simple oil change with regular non synthetic oil. So in all, again to all my fellow customers, if you're not familiar with vehicle maintenance I STRONGLY suggest you take your vehicle else where AT LEAST FOR A SECOND OPINION. Brought my car in for a simple smog test.Charged me for Labor they didn't do, and tried to charge me 1300.00 for repairs that didn't need to be repaired. I took my car to a reputable mechanic who informed me. I tried to get my money back and they made a scene and said good luck trying to get your money back! Over 2 hours for an oil change and tire rotation. Granted they were busy but seemed very unorganized. Would work on one car then stop and work another. Pulled my car in. I spent $590 at this Midas to find and fix a squealing noise coming from engine. A Midas mechanic said he replaced the belts and the pulleys and the fan belt clutch. The noise continued. I took my car to another shop and they noticed that the power steering belt was not replaced by Midas. I bought and replaced it for $15. The noise is gone. I'm never going back there. read more

Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY. If you need a part replaced on your car, they will go to AutoZone and then charge you double the cost. The guy also topped-off my radiator with water instead of 50/50 coolant. It was way past the full line and it started to smoke. read more

I took my Lexus to two Lexus dealerships and also had estimates done at 3 other auto repair shops. Midas Monrovia was by far the most affordable and by far had the best customer service. I was called and informed about every repair they were making and what the situation was. They even went out of there way to research and find a cheaper part for one of my repairs which saved me over $300 dollars (without even asking me). Without a doubt this is the best auto repair shop I have ever used. Later I also found out that all the techs were Ase certified which I feel was very important as well. read more

Never had a problem with these guys and I have brought some challenging cars in for repair. One car was a JAGUAR with ECU issue and complex emission control system. It required a diagnostic only a dealer could attempt to undertake. They had the expensive version scanner system which is vital. Parts orders were provided and the paperwork made sense. They offered me the option to get OEM parts or aftermarket to save some money. I also brought them a MERCEDES with wiring issues and they resolved that issue. They are indeed a very good option than going to the dealer; especially if you drive high end automotive. I will continue to bring my cars to Midas Monrovia. read more

I've got a 99 Toyota Tacoma with 200k+ miles. I've had it from Day 1 and other than routine maintenance, I've had no major problems. To say that I love my truck is an understatement. My friends and family keep telling me I'm a walking/talking Toyota ad. You get the idea. I don't just trust my truck maintenance to anyone. I recently moved here from out of state. On the drive across country I began to notice a slight rocking motion coming from the rear that got progressively worse. Some of my family have had great experiences with Midas. Without my regular mechanic I decided to give them a try. I met Sako there who was extremely knowledgeable, professional and very easy to talk with. He clearly knows his stuff and I felt confident trusting him with my truck. He didn't disappoint. Sako immediately diagnosed the problem as a cracked leaf spring, ordered the parts for delivery that day and had my truck ready that afternoon as he said he would. He gave me a fair price AND an Uber home and back. Everyone I dealt with there was very friendly and polite. This was a completely positive experience. I'll be going back to Midas in Monrovia for everything from oil changes to anything else that might come up over the next 200k miles. read more

Not recommended. I was ignored and then told to wait until the guy finished chatting with his buddy. I was told the air filters would be here at noon, then I checked again at 2:30pm, I was told the parts are gonna be here any minute, I just waited and waited...I saw a guy came in with parts at 4PM, and I was told it was finished at 4:05pm. I got charged $50 for the labor for changing the filter...so, my calculation is $10/minute rate which = $600/hour for the mechanic. I had to pay because they made me sign agreement right when I came in. They alarm for the filter change were not even reset and I have to go to another place to reset it. So just based on my experience, long wait, bad communication, horrible attitude, and high cost. Hope you enjoy your service here! read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!! These people who run this place are DISHONESTt!! I took my car here to have a motor mount replaced. Four months later, it broke again. When I brought my car back, they told me that a differen mount broke and that it's not the same one they fixed before, so I belive them and said that I'll come back next time to have it fixed. I found out from the dealer and another mechanic that it's the same one that they had fixed before. Needless to say, I had my car fixed somewhere else, and took the broken part they gave me back to Midas and asked for my money back on the part only (not labor). They refused to give me my money back and said that if I had brought my car back to them, they would have fixed it for free...BIG FAT LIE!!. Because I DID BRING MY CAR BACK AFTER IT BROKE (as mentioned above), BUT THEY LIED TO ME AND SAID THAT IT WAS NOT THE SAME PART THAT BROKE AND SAID NOTHING AOBUT FIXING IT FOR FREE. I was extremely satisfied with the service provided here! I've come to this Midas location on several occasions now for jobs both big and small! And each time, regardless of the labor, the entire staff showcased an incredible display of friendliness and a created a very warm and welcoming atmosphere to their clients! The staff approach you not like another customer, but rather as you were a friend of their's and they are here to help you out! All with a genuine concern for the well being of your vehicle and your driving experience, Daniel in particular, was outstanding! The wait times are reasonable, although it can sometimes take a little longer than promised if there is a high volume of customers entering the building! They do an excellent job at making sure you understand what exactly was done on your car, what needs to be done, and what to look out for in the future!
