I've been a Midas customer for over 3 years. I've always received excellent service at all of the locations. The Midas at Malden has been especially nice. Nice and large waiting area with a decent selection of magazines. The staff is always friendly and efficient. They are very nice about explaining what needs to be done to your car. They tell you what needs to be fixed asap and what would eventually need to be done. There is no pressure at all! The location is very convenient. It's easy to get to, and is right across from the T, in case you need to get around. read more

I had a scheduled appointment to fix my brakes and suspension, when I showed up the parts were not even ordered for the appointment. I left work early and was not able to fix my car. Aweful! The ability to see a digital report of my vehicles under carriage, tires, and other important information. I was even updated on my inspection due dates. Not a good experience at all. I had an appointment at noon, got there on time but was told they were busy and needed two hours to complete the work (all I need was an oil change). I couldn't wait two hours so I went back the next day. I went back the next day, they were going to charge me for $59.99 for synthetic oil with coupon, but I told them it should be $49.99. He then proceeded to say "Well, we are not making any money" and he ripped the paper and fixed the price for me. It supposed came with free tires rotation, didn't really see them take the tires off. The sales guy tried to upsell me to change the carbon air filter which he said will cost me $30. I told him to just leave it because I could buy one for less than $10 and change it myself. Afterward he said "you might want to just breath carbon monoxide right?" Like seriously?? There was nothing wrong with upselling, but was that kind of attitude neccessary??? After the work was "done" and when I went inside my car I spotted the power cord to my dash cam is unplugged (my dash cam has dual cameras so it captures inside and outside of my car). The purpose of that was really clear... The shop didn't want the customer to know what they were actually doing. Bottom line was the sales/counter person had really stinky attitude and the worker's work ethic was very questionable. My driver's side window came off its tracks, and they thought it was probably the regulator. Once they opened up the door, they found loose bolts that caused the problem, and the regulator was absolutely fine. They had already ordered the regulator, and they were honest enough to not do work that wasn't needed. Honest mechanics? They had a chance to screw me over, and didn't. Great place to get charged a ton. Brought my car in after failing inspection elsewhere. They said it was a different issue, addressed that one instead. Check engine light came on a few days later, I brought it back they said the new issue would be $800-1400. Brought my car today for exhaust and transmission repairs. The digital report that allows you too see under your car is great. Helps you to make an informed decision. I spoke to both Dave ( the manager) and the mechanic who serviced my car. They were both very knowledgeable and and explained why these problems with my car occured. Rip Off. First time when I came there I spent 400 changing Antifreeze and steering fluid. 3 weeks later, check engine light went on. They gave me an estimate $585 to fix the problem. Based on the diagnostic paper, They suggested me to change coolant sensor $117, and thermostat w/ housing $140 and Labor $285 +Taxes. It sucks to spend on Mazda 6 2004 a $1000 for 1 month. I paid for diagnostic only ($50), because I was unable to pay this bill. Later on, I found a machenic who has a computer, he tested and told me that it just coolant sensor. I came to advance auto parts, purchased sensor for $23 instead of $117 in Midas and came back to my friend, It took him exactly 5 min to change this part. First off, don't be fooled by the "19.99 oil change and tire rotation" special sign out front. They charged me $84 for JUST an oil change, and definitely did not tell me the outrageously high charge before they did it. Insane. They know you can't say no after it is already done. On top of that, their car mechanics are obviously morons, as they can't even put in the correct tire pressure. During their "complimentary" service check, they put 38 psi into my already correctly filled 30 psi tires. They obviously just filled them up as much as possible, instead of taking 2 seconds to read the correct pressure. Driving on that psi would have RUINED my tires. I didn't even bother going back to have them fix it, because I am never letting them put their hands on my car again. (I fixed it myself) Don't waste your money, take your car to somebody who actually knows about cars (and knows how to read). read more

BEWARE!!!! GO TO TOWN FAIRE TIRE INSTEAD!!! I have been coming here off and on over the past few years and the service was always ok - but not anymore! I got a flate tire and had it replaced at Midas back in february - then last week I got a nail in the tire and called Midas on the phone and Tony told me to come right over, the tire is under warrantee and they would fix it for free or replace it for 25.00. I drove over on my donut and Ivan came out and took the damaged tire out of my trunk- he told me no way could he fix the tire and I would need a new tire. Then I said 'ok well it's under warrantee anyway' and then he started back pedalling saying he'd have to check it out and to call back later. I called back and Ivan told me that was not the tire Midas sold to me - and they wouldn't honor the warrantee - which is bullshit because all my tires are the same 'Bridgetone by Firestone' --- Ivan said he needed to measure the tread on all the tires to figure out which tire he sold me back in February? WHAAAT???? I drove over to Midas and picked up my damaged tire and went to Town Faire Tires in Everett. They fixed my damaged tire and put it back on my car for 8.00 ...........Thank you Town Faire Tire!! Midas you suck! I am now wondering how many other times you have robbed me read more

Firstly they wont tell you anything while you are in their office. They'll say we'll call you and let you know. All they do is give you a long list of TO DO's with a 600 $ estimate. When you say about the problems that you face they wont listen properly. I told them to do an Oil change and the manager said "I never heard you say that." which was totally ridiculous. I asked if my brakes were bad to the point where its a safety issue. He said you could do it next month...and thats it !! I was looking for some good personal advice on my car but now.... I will never go back to MIDAS coz now i know for sure they really dont care for customers and have no personal touch. This company is either hiring non qualified Technicians or running the biggest scams in the state. Not sure if they have a corporate entity overseeing their operation but it doesn't say much. My daughter just had her car in there for a basic serpentine belt install and mechanic(not technician) installed it wrong creating a pump issue which led to engine failure on a perfectly maintained Subaru. The management there is rude and offensive and takes zero ownership of their negligence. My daughter was put into a vehicle that was rendered unsafe by the mechanics negligence. read more

I made an appointment for an oil change before work. The woman on the phone said that the earliest appointment would be 7:30 AM, although the location is noted to open at 7:00 AM. I explained to her that I had an appointment for work matters at 8:30 AM a while away and needed to be on time. She said that the first appointment at 7:30 AM would be fine for this. I would be in and out. When I showed up at 7:30 AM, there were two people having their cars worked on prior to me. I explained that I needed to be on time and had an appointment, and the mechanic said he would work on my car next. It has now been almost an hour and I am late for my appointment. Multiple other people, including someone who had an 8 AM appointment, are still waiting here as well. There was only one mechanic to work on the cars. If this location is going to offer appointments, they need to stick to them. Especially in early morning hours when people need to get to work. I will not be back to this location, or any other Midas. The customer is not respected here and they need to work on their schedule. read more

I went there for an engine oil leak fix. I trusted them and followed their suggestion to replace some gaskets and oring. cost me $400. As the leak is tiny, I didn't check if it is fixed or not. After 2 months, when the weather is colder, I noticed leak again. I brought the car there again. They checked and shamelessly said it was not the same place leak. This time, they identified to replace some other staffs. Lucky me I didn't trust this time, I asked them to clean the leaking part and try to see where actually the leak is coming from. The leak is apparent not coming from the parts they suggested to fix! They didn't follow the basic procedures to identify a problem, just want to get more labor cost from your problems. read more

I first went here because it was convenient, right next to the Malden T stop. Now it is the only place I go -- for oil changes, flat tires, etc. They are always really helpful and nice. I don't know anything about cars, but I've never felt like they were trying to push unnecessary repairs, like some other garages I've been to. Always communicate when there are other issues. My exhaust pipe gasket sealant came apart and I never noticed. They spotted the problem and fixed it for a few dollars. When I thought there might be a leak in my tire they looked very carefully even though I did not have one. Always a complete job and I have not had extras thrown at me I do not need. read more

It is thursday afternoon and not so packed. When i came in ppl were waiting here, i thought it would take long. After a few mins i was taken some info by the receptionist and my car started to be examed. Well, they claimed that it is gonna take 35 mins to changed the tires. One of my front tire broke and is not repairable, i have to get a new PAIR for the rare side and move the rare side ones to the front. Total is 329 dont know if tax is included since im still waiting. This is my first time changing tires i dont know if the price is too high or not. Came here with a groupon and there was no delay or attitude from the staff. Everything was done while I waited. Took about an hour. The only thing was, in the paperwork they gave me afterward it said my brake fluid was low, which got me worried (car was under 30k miles). Then when I checked it myself it was more than 2/3 of the tank, closer to the max line than the min. Huh?? Pretty good service here. Only reason against 5 starts is that I had to wait a long time. They didn't communicate the wait time, so I assumed it would be short ... I'll be sure to ask next time. Repair was good - I got a flat from driving into a large curb hidden in snow. The guys got me the exact same replacement tire and checked out the suspension too. read more

We had the best experience at Midas in Malden. Paul (the manager), Larry,and Katie were wonderful and I would highly recommend this place. We needed major work done to replace the control arm of our car and then required 4 new tires. During my first visit they drove me home and then picked me up when my car was finished. The second time when we got the new tires, the next day we discovered a flat. I called them and they came to my house, fixed the flat and then took the car back to the shop and fixed the problem. It was going to cost $150 to repair a valve in the tire but they did not charge us. They are reliable and honest. I cannot say enough about the good experience we had. read more

This place is the worst service I've had yet. I bought a Groupon for an oil change and tire rotation. I called yesterday at 9am and asked Paul if I could make an appointment. He said "Just come on down now." I said I wouldn't be able to now, I'm at work, but will be down later, around mid-afternoon. He said "Great," and hung up. When I got there around 2:30, he said that he'd "Lost two technicians in the middle of the day," and that I wouldn't be able to do it without an appointment, which I could set up for the next day. So I left. This morning at 9am, I called again and asked if I could set up an appointment - I mentioned the same Groupon deal, same car, same situation. He again said "Come on down now," so I did. When I got there at 9:15am, Paul said, "I don't have any openings. And you need to make an appointment, it says so on the Groupon." I told him that's exactly why I called 15 minutes before - to make an appointment. He said "You tried this yesterday and it didn't work, it doesn't make any sense. Why would you try again?" Paul's rude attitude was so irritating that, though I usually give bad service the benefit of the doubt (everyone has bad days), I couldn't let this one slide. If a customer calls and asks for an appointment, don't tell them not to worry about it and just to come down now, and then treat the customer like shit when they get there for not having an appointment. Twice! Paul is a jerk and terrible with customer service. Save yourself the time and hassle; go to the Midas in Saugus. They had me in and out in 20 minutes and apologized profusely for Paul's behavior; apparently Paul has a reputation around the Midas community for being a shmuck. read more

Unfortunately i can't give a zero star rating. I went there for an oil change and tire rotation with an appointment. It took over 1hr. While driving it in the highway, the steering wheel was shaking a lot so I called them they said "ur tires need to be balanced" even tho they never informed or recommended balancing while I was there. I got to my destination safely. When driving home (b4 getting in the highway) my tires where making a weird sound. My husband was driving at the time, got worried and pulled over. 3 out of the 4 tires were loose. The idiot that was working on my car did not screw the tires back in place tightly. So in conclusion, if my husband hadn't have checked the tires before we got in the highway we could have been in a tragic accident. I urge everyone to never go there for ur own safety. read more

They said I had an oil leak after charging me $1300 in other services. I did NOT have an oil leak after getting a second opinion from a local garage owner. There were other things that alerted me to their dishonesty - every time I went for an oil change, something else was majorly wrong with my car that would cost hundreds, sometimes thousands of dollars. Had a Groupon for oil change (conventional oil) & tire rotation and took a 2012 Honda Accord in this morning and dropped off. Got on the Orange Line and hadn't even gotten to Wellington when Midas(Katie) called and said that the Honda REQUIRED synthetic oil and my Groupon was for conventional. She offered to apply the Groupon value (24.99) towards the cost of synthetic oil change (74.99). When told that the Honda had always been serviced with conventional oil, she stated that her company would not do so. She then put Paul (manager) on the line who stated that they (Midas) would not use conventional oil to service my car, and that I could come pick it up. This is the classic bait & switch as this Midas location simply didn't want to do the work for the $12 Groupon value and were trying to force an upsell to synthetic oil. This location is indeed a ripoff and a big waste of my time today. I won't rate them with any stars and strongly recommend that they be avoided, especially if using a Groupon. BTW--this is the first bad experience I have had with attempting to use a Groupon at any local business. read more
