Great service! I have been going to the same mechanic for years, but had to recently look for a new one. So while shopping for a new mechanic, I came across Midas at La Playa Drive and decided to give them a try. Jason (owner) assisted me and addressed all my concerns. I dropped my car off at 1:30pm for an oil change, brake pads & rotors replacement and by 4:45pm, my car was ready for pick up. Unbelievable service! My mom's BMW shut down while driving in Hayward, and she didn't know what to do. I was out of town, looked on Maps to find this Midas store for her to get it towed to. I figured it might be safer for her to go with a franchise than an independent shop. It was the best decision. After I spoke with the manager, I knew my mother was in good hands and I was no longer worried about her. They took a lot of extra time to diagnose the problem. Turns out it was too big of a repair job, but then they helped find a towing company that would take the car back home to SF. It was a tough day for my mom, but she was so happy and impressed with the service, she told me she will drive all the way from SF to Hayward to get her car maintenance done in the future. Take entire families cars here for seevices and brakes. Curtis is great, they dont try to upcharge by saying all sorts of repairs need to be done. Don't go there, even for a simple oil change. They overfilled my oil pouring in 7 quarts! My car takes 6 with filter change. I believe they over charged my ac, that was working, just not 100%, and blew out the expansion valve. Then wanting to charge me for refrigerant. Tried to sell me a new $35.00 expansion valve for $238.00. "Mechanic" did not have a clue and did not speak English. Removed upper engine mount to access ac bib. The ac bib was completely accessible without removal of torsion mount. Bottom line, DON'T LET THEM TOUCH YOUR CAR!! read more

If you want dishonest pricing this is the place to go. They tried to charge me $70 per spark plug. Spark plugs are usually priced at $30 max for high quality. I went to the store and bought my own for $7 each. They also told me I needed new tires. I bought my tires a year ago. I could see recommending a rotation, but a brand new set???? They charged me $160 to run a diagnostic I already knew. I just wanted my spark plugs changed . All together they wanted to charge $1100 for that and one coil. There are many honest mechanics in this world and they are not one of them. read more

Went to get a battery replaced and oil changed. They call me and say I need a new battery and tune up.They then said they'd call me back in 20 minutes. I call them back 2 hours later and they tell me that the car is ready to go with an estimation of $280. I ask them about my tires because they were low and they said the tires are fine. They then say I dont need a tune up. I go pick up the car and they ask if I wanted a battery installed. I inform them they told me it was already done. He then goes back to install my battery. 40 minutes later, he comes out and asks me if I still want a new battery and that my tires need to be replaced. This place is the worrrrst. read more

I just got an oil change here last week. They got the job done on time and so far things seem to be okay. When I was going to pick up my car, the owner told me that I should get a transmission fluid change because it's dirty. I was suspicious about that and didn't have time to do it anyway. I also found that they didn't even bother to reset the Check Engine light for me, that didn't happen to me before when I got oil change from other shops. (after a quick googling I reset it myself in 25 seconds. Yes I was timing it). Yes, it's a Meh experience. read more

I'm beyond grateful for the owner Jason at Midas! My transmission has been giving me problems and I was unaware of what it may be. They got down to the bottom of it and diagnosed all of the issues at hand including a bad transmission! They are very honest people, I'm so grateful he didn't even charge me for the diagnostic. I was originally going to get a tranny service thinking I was just out of tranny fluid( I have a Isuzu axiom in which has the tranny fluid only underneath the car most places won't even service it )They were able to check before actually doing what I asked for which saved me $190! I came in for front Brakes and Rotars due to noise and wear. Curtis properly advised me to first address the wheel bearing and come back another time for the Brakes and Rotars as they still have a little life left in them. They could have gotten me for a clean 1,000 dollar bill yesterday and instead took good care of my car and finances. Victor, the technician, even topped of my fluids (my brake fluids are really difficult to reach) and tightened up my clutch without even being asked to do so. Jason has a zeal for customer service and Doty is great to chat with while waiting for the repairs to finish. Getting repairs done can be a nerve racking experience, I am glad to know I have these guys on my side looking out for me. Above and beyond the call of duty, they have a long term customer in me. I am ashamed and really disappointed with their service they have so many good reviews I don't get why. ...oh I know why they give you a discount when you check in with 5 stars before the service which I did smh fake (reviews).... I had my oil change and guess what they thought that I wasn't going to check if the oil was changed or not. So when I open the hood and checked to see if there was oil in my car and guess what there was no oil. the owner the Indian guy told me that they put air in my tire put water in the windshield wipers and guess what there was no water and the tire seemed half flat smh Everything was the same. I told the guy that oil has not been changed and they try to act like oh it was and we put a little bit but we'll take care of it .
