My Dad came in to the dealership alone to try and buy a car and was helped by sales representative, Caesar. Unfortunately for Caesar, in addition to my Dad not being able to pronounce his name right, he is also very indecisive and changes his mind a lot. Despite this, Caesar was able to get my dad to start the paperwork on a used 2020 Honda Insight after what I'm sure were more than just a few hours (3-4 hours). When I came in to sign paperwork to become a co-owner of the car (my Dad's idea), my Dad to everyone but my own surprise, decides he does not want the car anymore. This was after he had put $10K down and had driven the car home the night before. He had also already signed and declined the two-day optional cancellation policy (facepalm). Despite all of this inconvenience, Ron, the person who was helping with the paperwork, brought Caesar and his manager, Alex, to talk to us to make sure that we did not want to go through with purchasing the car. My Dad then became adamant about not wanting it anymore and being fine with paying the re-stocking fee and any other fees involved with changing his mind. All three of these Honda staff members were calm and not pushy and really just wanted to make sure we did not want the car anymore. They were very professional and were understanding at the end. They allowed us to return the car and waived any fees. Very honorable of them and would definitely come back myself in the future to buy a car from them. read more

I would avoid the Honda Service here at all cost. I have owned Honda for over 20 years. My Honda Accord which we took to service here was my number 9 Honda since 1990. This is the worst service experience that I have had. Carlos Arana was not only rude and unapproachable but he lacked the basic knowledge and had very little customer awareness. We had originally gone to this dealer in January when we had a battery issue with our 2024 Honda Accord. They replaced it with a bad battery. May did not even change it. So the problem persisted until we brought the car in yesterday. Normally when you walk to a normal Honda service department, you are greated with a simple "Hi welcome to Honda" and then followed by "we will be right with you" or "how can we help you". This dealer thinks having good character and a pleasent disposition is over-rated. The have the God-like complex. If they did something special or the could diagnose and solve simple problems, maybe it's okay. The problem is there over all knowledge is horrible as well. It took over 8 hours to check if a battery was bad. When I asked why did it take that long with a straight face they told me that's how long it takes. The car was dropped off at 9am and it was 5pm and I got worried that Carlos never texted any updated. When I got there, he said they still don't know if the battery is bad. On what planet does it take 8 hours to check a battery. Then when I pressed him, he said let me check and that they had determine the battery was bad. There was no explanation. One of the other servicemen said it was on GR8 machine. Look that up and that max takes 1-2 hours. They said it takes 6 hours. There were two service associates and no cars and no customers. They did not acknowledge that I was there. I thought I may have been at the wrong place. I walked over to Carlos who actually was the service representive for the car and without a smile, he looked at me. He said it would be ready in ten minutes. I sat in the waiting room which is the sales floor. There was no check in after ten minutes. I wait a bit longer and came out and there are like 6 customer service reps. I asked them if they knew if my car was ready, a young lady said she could not check because they are on a different computer system. When I saw Carlos, again, no acknowledge, no smile, just doing everything to be rude. I asked him what did they do with the car and he said I explained it to you. I said can you go through the service and he said no. Kid you not. He said no. He wanted me to sign a paper and I asked him how much it cost and he pointed to the 0 on the paper. A normal Honda service person, in my 20 years, would say, "Hi Mr ", and would go through the service and what the problem was what was performed and why it took so long. They would ask me if I had any question. Not this guy. I asked him where is my car and he pointed and I told him I don't see it and if he can show me. Oh boy, it was as if I was asking him to move a mountain. The bottom line, avoid this dealer at all cost. It seems like they have very few customers anyways. There were no customers when I was there. Just a horrible experience. I am going to take the car to a different dealer because I am not 100% sure they replaced the battery. They did not show me the old battery and they did not show me the new batter. The service technician was no where to be found. read more

Hayward Honda seems to care more about revenue than service and in this case, my safety. I called them today about the following issue. The person that answered the phone could not address the issue, took my number and told me that someone would call me back by the end of day. No call back. The issue? I had to replace the battery while traveling (AAA did the work). On the way home the info screen, and dashboard was blank except for a "safety warning message" to "push the power button for 2 seconds". No hint on whether to stop first or take this step while driving. I took the safe route and kept driving. A few minutes later, the car started to slow down...from 65 mph (on the freeway) to 50 to 40....I decided to press the Power button as I approached an exit. The car went into neutral and I barely made if off the freeway. I waited a few minutes, pressed the power button for more than 2 seconds - and started the care again. No change - same "safety message." To be safe , I took side roads home, at about 35 mph. Called Honda service as soon as I got home. This review is long overdue, and I strongly urge anyone considering this dealership to think twice. In May 2025, I paid $20,000 for a vehicle for my daughter, only to discover shortly after that the skid plate had been improperly secured with cable ties a clear sign of careless and unacceptable workmanship. When it came loose after hitting a bump, I was forced to pay out of pocket for repairs that should never have been necessary. On top of that, there was a hole in the rear carpet that was not disclosed, and the air conditioning failed within two months of purchase. Equally concerning was the level of unprofessionalism from the salesperson. I was made to feel as though my purchase was insignificant, and it was clear she lacked basic knowledge about used vehicles. What is most unacceptable is the complete lack of accountability. I have left multiple messages for management and have not received a single return call. That level of disregard for a paying customer is inexcusable. Between the undisclosed issues, questionable vehicle condition, and total absence of customer service, this has been the worst dealership experience I have ever had. Love the service department and I think a great place to buy a new Honda but if your buying a used car or selling a used car I would go to Carmax or Carvana. I love the service department here. They are the best. Very personable and fast. Also notable is how the service advisors have all been around forever - I remember them all from the previous location when they moved. Much prefer this to Cardinal Oakland. I think this is a small family owned business - and if its not is sure does feel like it. If your buying a new car I see no reason not to buy here. It is a very straightforward thing and since all the new cars are similar its easy to cross shop and with the days of the internet lots of the prices regardless of dealership will be similar. The salesmen are very friendly and go out of their way to even help you customize a car or find you one if it is elsewhere. Sure there might be a one off where you find a poorly equipped car in a bad color at the end of the year leftover for a really really good deal - but that is in reality just the market correcting for certain factors and not really as good a deal as it might first appear. For used car purchases I like Carmax - inventory and ability to find what you want based on features is unmatched. Every option is listed and then with a nationwide search you will have your best chance at finding what you want. For car sales I prefer Carvana. I recently sold my car and got 4 offers from four different dealers. My offer at this Honda dealer came in at the lowest offer $4000 less than Carvana and $2500 less than Carmax. Online my emailed estimate from Honda Hayward actually was the highest initially: "Your Kelley Blue Book® Trade-In Range $9,145 - $11,228" I got a price from Carvana right inside this range and it couldn't have been less of a hassle. All done online. I think the guy buying cars here might have been too busy that day. It was probably a done with the age make and model only and he was oblivious to the options on my car and the immaculate service history and low mileage. Since all communication was done through a sales guy I think somethings were lost in communication. Carmax does it the same way where you don't have any contact with the appraiser - I find it inefficient and almost frustrating. Again, Carvana for the win when it comes to sell. Buying and selling cars probably ranks with most people similarly to going to the dentist. If you really don't like the traditional sales environment my overall recommendation if you buy or sell a car here is do everything over the phone and online and not in person. Once you arrive here only do so when you have an out the door price and financing and warranty and dealer add ons in place and fully negotiated. Test drive at Carmax a similar newer car or rent one for a day or two if you need a test drive. read more

I know what to expect. I had a check engine light on my instrument panel. I scheduled an appointment with Hayward Honda's service department because I know that they are busy, and you can't just walk in and get immediate service. I scheduled this appointment more than a week in advance. They knew when I was coming and exactly what I needed to have checked. I arrived at the appointed time. A young man in the receiving bay told me to stay with the car, and someone would be with me shortly. There were no other customers around, and 3 service advisors sitting at the counter behind computer screens. I waited for more than 5 minutes for one of them to get up and come over. He asked if I had an appointment. Yes He asked why I brought the vehicle in. I don't mind discussing this, but I thought he was expecting me. Then he asked if I could leave the vehicle overnight. No, I can't. I inquired about how long does it takes to check the OBD codes. A few minutes? Maybe an hour? He said, yes, it doesn't take long once the technician gets to the vehicle. But their technicians are busy, and they can't do a diagnosis until 24-48 hours after the vehicle is checked in. So what's the point of scheduling an appointed time to have my car worked on? They didn't warn me about this when I called in to make the appointment. We bought a certified vehicle here. When we test drove it, the only thing we thought needed looked at was the A/C. Our salesman, Hash, had the technician look at it and said it was good to go. Once it was delivered to our daughter, many things were found to be wrong. It DID need a new a/c compressor. About $2000. The windshield was after market, so the camera wasn't working properly which caused the computer to sporadicly alarm. Another $600. The transmission fluid had NEVER been changed(car had 80k miles) another $350. The battery was in a covered protector, and when it was checked by us, the posts were terribly corroded. I had to purchase a new battery. Another $300. I reached out to Hash, and he wanted me to send a pic of the battery, which I did. No response... The 120 point checklist for the car to be certified, said everything was good. This was a lie!! Car dealerships get kickbacks for selling certified vehicles, this car should never have been certified! What a freaking scamming dealership!! Stealing from customers and lying about their vehicles to sell as certified so they get more money and we the customer get screwed!!! NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM HAYWARD HONDA !! I even emailed the GM,Shawn, and Erik Berkman, GM OF Honda. NO RESPONSE! Came in to check out a "Lexus f-sport" and ran the vent numbers and wasn't a f-sport. Also, the car dealer Hash try to run game on me and told me three other people was waiting to buy the car and found out he was lying. To make matters Hash told me another dealer was currently trying to sell the car to someone else and even had a act for the dealer to "fake" video tape car as if he was going to sell the car. As of 8/7/2025 the Lexus is still listed as a F-sport to which is not a F-sport. Lastly,the some of the other car dealers were vaping in the parking lot!!! I bought a car from Ron at Hayward Honda last week. A CRV 2024 gas car. I was not impressed by the sales person however he was friendly but I could tell he was hungry to sell a car. I bought the car not based on his sales pitch but because it seemed like a good deal and the car was exactly what I was looking for. A few days later I noticed the weather stripping on passenger side door was hanging down after my daughter go in the car and closed the door. So I took a look and the stripping was totally loose and could be pressed into place however that is a temporary fix it should be secured!
