Service Writer Ron Divito got me in and out in a timely manner which is what I needed because I needed to go to work. Oil changed fluids topped off I couldn't ask for more and happy that he was able to handle it I had tried other Midas locations and they all told me two to three hours which was totally ridiculous Ron took care of the business and that is the only thing that a person can ask for! If 0/5 starts was an option, that's what they would have gotten. I went in to Midas this afternoon because my car was making a low growling noise. They said they would get to it shortly and took down my number to call me when they had a diagnosis. There was no waiting area (or atleast not one that I was aware of) so I wandered to Trader Joes and then I walked back about 45 min. Car was still parked where they left it. I stand around outside and finally see them put it up about 20 min later. After about 1.5 hours they finally call me (even though they knew i was standing on the sidewalk next to the parking lot for the last 40 min) to tell me my estimate is ready. Almost $900! They said my muffler along with a couple other things needed to be replaced. I called a friend get their advice and he was shocked by what they were going to charge me for a non lexus part (if it was actually a genuine part, maybe, but not an alternative one). I went back in and said i would think about it, and went home. A couple of my neighbors looked at it when I got home and said the muffler definitely didn't even sound bad, that the connection probably just needed to be replaced. I took it to Velasquez on Belmont and they had my baby all fixed up for $150 out the door- said my muffler was completely fine. It's completely horrific that Midas was trying to screw me over by over $700! Do not trust these scammers! read more

You Stink - Deceptive Business Practices Galore - The worst run shop in the city - worst franchise in the chain, you name it this place takes the cake. I have had multiple issues and you can say if you're so smart why would you have multiple issues? Good question, they are very close and I thought an oil change was an easy non-deceptive thing and I had a coupon. Just like Blago, you can call me stupid, stupid, stupid. I took my car here today to have my tire patched. The staff was very helpful and friendly! I will definitely take my car here again!

Long story short, I got my oil changed and tires rotated last week with a $19.99 coupon which I thought was a great deal and then I got a $1500 estimate on items that Midas wanted to "fix" which I declined, as I just wanted the oil change. The VERY NEXT DAY I hear something dragging on the bottom of my car which turned out to be my engine shield. I take my car back in and tell them that I've had the car for 4 years and the oil changed every time it needed it and this has never happened (first time I went outside the dealership for this). They had me look at the shield and they explained that the snow ripped it off from the bottom of the car, a common occurrence as he pointed to another car and shield on the ground of the shop. I find it very coincidental (I don't believe in coincidences) that I get my oil change and the next day my engine shield is dragging on the ground. Not to mention the way the engine shield is installed, there is no way that snow is ripping that off the car. The manager gives me an estimate of $225 to fix and I am perplexed as to why they aren't taking the blame for this. I honestly wish I had come to yelp first to see all the negative reviews because they are true. These guys are looking to make a quick buck. DO NOT TRUST THIS MIDAS. read more

I was informed by our car dealer that the front and rear brakes required repair. The dealer quoted twice as much for the repair than what we were charged from Midas. Fortunately a promotion for brakes was being offered, however, the cost would have been cheaper with Midas regardless of the promotion. Thanks for the wonderful service! We will continue our business with you! read more

THE WORST PLACE IN CHICAGO.... DON'T GO HERE! THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND ARE NOT HONEST!!!! ..... they are terrible!! They replaced the pedal assembly with a faulty part and couldn't figure it out, So for 2 months, I couldn't switch gears properly. They installed a new set of brakes and failed to lube them so the car gave me whiplash every time I stopped but they told me there was no problem till the 3rd time I brought it back. They installed a new catalytic converter, mine was stolen in the middle of this, and returned it to me with a cracked gasket so it still sounded like a motorcycle. Then they couldn't figure out why the engine light, emergency light, and VSA light came on so I had it towed to the dealer who diagnosed the faulty pedal and leaking catalytic converter. I requested Midas remove their parts and give me my money back and they agreed several times and then refused and told me to pick up my car and they weren't going to fix it because I got mad..... 8 months ago, I went to the above listed Midas location and was advised to replace my brake pads and to resurface the rotors. I was given the option of either the normal brake pads or the higher grade pad and I selected the normal pads with the lifetime warranty. My final bill was $500. Over the course of the last 7-8 months I had to bring my car in to the same location 4 additional times because of a constant noise coming from the right rear tire like I have never heard. Each time the problem was not fixed, and the noise continued. I took my car in again today and the manager explained to me that I needed to replace all 4 rotors and all 4 pads and recommended the pads be upgraded to the higher grade pad. The managers initial estimate for this work was $797.39, and then said he would do me a favor and bring the cost down to $503.57 since I was never satisfied. My concern is that over 8 months I will now have been to the same Midas 5 times and will have spent over $1000 for a brake job never once being satisfied. The manager explained that it was my fault because I didn't upgrade the pads, which he sold me. I asked why if the pads were bad for my car were they an option? He said it is my car and my responsibility. My next question was, why did you recommend turning my rotors and now replacing when I have never been satisfied from the original work? The manager said he could not predict that. I said, I believe that should have been the original procedure and he said there is nothing he could do other than the deal on the table. He then told me that I was trying to be deceitful and get something for free and to take my car elsewhere, this after he has not yet fixed my brakes and I paid him $500. So I contacted the corporate office, and they simply routed my complaint back to the manager who then called to tell me off for filing a complaint. I contacted the area manager and he answered my call on speaker phone with the shop manager, and so I then had a debate on two fronts on how I was wrong not them. At the end of the day I had to take my car elsewhere, I spent $500 and had bad brakes, bad service, and treated poorly. Horrible shop and horrible management. DO NOT GO HERE! read more

Took my car here and thought I could really trust these guys. They seemed to be up front and professional. After dealing with them for a year I realized they were very predatory. They told me my car was in great condition if I just fixed x, y, z for nearly $2,000. A few months later was dropping another $1500 on repairs, then $700 on ac and exhaust. Finally, when it broke down AGAIN (with problems that should have been caught in the $110 inspection I paid to have it "really" checked over) and I was quoted well over $1000 I realized they had taken advantage of me. I should have put all that money in a new car and regret going back there the second, third and fourth time. You may walk away thinking this place is really going to treat you fairly......they will not. read more

This place was great! I don't get the low star reviews. The owner was very upfront about costs and wait times. They did a very thorough inspection of the car when brought in for routine maintenance and dash lights being on. The wonder even called me the next day to get feedback on their customer service and car service. I'll be back next time my car needs anything. read more

As of today's date I haven't heard from Midas my review hasn't changed will keep you posted.

The worst time management I've ever seen. In all of my years of owning a vehicle, I've never waited longer than 30 minutes for an oil change.... additionally they continuously tried to rip me off telling me that my vehicle needs synthetic oil when that is not the case. They take advantage of customers and are not friendly. I will never be back here that is for sure. read more

I took my car in for an oil change and we found out that it was severely in need of new brake pads. Because they knew the inconvenience of waiting an additional hour, they found every available coupon to apply to my repairs so I could get the best deal, saving me a great deal. A week later my rear tail light went out and I brought it back. They did not charge me for the repair due to my loyalty. I will continue to bring my car back for future maintenance! read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR TO THIS PLACE. I took my car here for check engine service. They fixed some sensor and added few more service as essential and billed me $500. The check engine light came back again in 2 weeks. So, I took the car to this place again. They said they want to fix some other sensor and replace the spark plugs etc etc. and which will cost me $800. I didn't like their response, so took it another mechanic. This mechanic found that there was some valve was loose and which was causing the check engine light to come up. And he fixed it for $84. This Midas place either don't know how to fix a car or just want to rip off their customer. read more

This review reflects multiple visits over the course of a couple years, because I wasn't sure until now how my car and psyche was being abused. I chose this Midas because they always had great coupons for tire rotations and oil changes, and the location was convenient. But every time I would go they would always give me a long laundry list of issues, making it sound as if my car was always on the verge of ruin. This was always stressful, and I always half expected they were trying to take advantage of me and my lake if car knowledge. I always hoped to stay within a small price range because I didn't budget for large repairs and got a few things done there over the course of a couple years. On my last visit they told me they couldn't rotate my tires because the bolts were stripped, and they wanted to charge me $400+ to cut them off and replace them. I thought this sound extremely fishy, since it would be their fault if they were stripped. I finally was able to take my car in to a Bel Tire in Michigan while visiting my parents, and they said they could do it, and they were just a little stuck from salt/dirt/wear/tear. We then took it for an oil change at a place my dad trusted and they replaced a few things for me, one of which was coolant that I needed very badly but the folks at Midas never mentioned. Long story short I paid $50 to calm my nerves, and come the the realization that I must never go here again. Take heed: sure, in the short run they may seem adequate, but in the long run they may be doing long term damage and trying to capitalize on it. Not to mention the mental anguish they caused almost every time I went there, and treated my car like a dead man walking. Never again!! read more

Starting hearing a noise from my front tire when turning so I brought it into Midas to get checked out. The manager Ron offered me coffee and said they can look at it within a half hour. While waiting in thinking this is gonna be an expensive fix. To my surprise it turn out to be strut mount that needed to be greased which make sense because the weather has just started getting really cold. Thanks for the honesty and great customer service! I shall return. read more

My frugal husband sent me here with a coupon for an oil change and tire rotation for $20. Grace at the front desk was super sweet and friendly. After an hour and a half, my car was ready to go. They did suggest a few maintenance repairs to keep in mind for my next visit, but weren't pushy. read more

Brought my car in for an oil change and tire rotation with an appointment. I was given an hour and a half to two hour service period. Done in 45 minutes. I work in the service industry and I know how stalled/delayed things can get sometimes. But these guys were great. They called a little before the service was completed giving me an update on the tread of my tires, etc. Came back to pick up and was out in a few minutes. Granted, it didn't look busy at all but they were extremely efficient. I will be coming back in the future. read more

I take my last review back....for the most part. I took my car back to Midas, and it turned out the oil change was fine, but the tires had been rotated so they were making a noise, and that is why I thought something was wrong. When I went back, the employees were surprising friendly, and very helpful. The only complaint would be the inconvenience of the oil cap the first time. I got a coupon for a free oil change for next time, so I'm still pondering if I want to use it! read more

Don't go here. They do poor work and don't stand behind what they do. I took my car in for an oil change. A week later, I noticed fluid in my garage and took it to my European car repair place. They said the cap on the oil pan had been overtightened and stripped and that Midas would surely repair it without charge whereas I would have to pay them. I took it back to Midas. They would not repair it and wanted $400 to do so. I wasn't about to pay the people who had done such poor work and went back to my repair place where they were stunned that Midas wouldn''t replace it. On top of it, both places checked for extra work that needed to be done (as they all do). Midas said two front tires and $800 worth of work. The repair place said two front tires and no work. Don't go here. read more

Brought my Nissan Rogue in for a complete brake job: pads, rotors and calipers. Job cost $1200 which seemed fair. After a short time, heard a metallic sound coming from the driver's side front brakes. Took the car to another shop for an unrelated repair, and they discovered that the bolt holding the calipers in place was missing! Luckily, it was only a mile drive back to this Midas shop. To their credit, they admitted their error and this time used blue Loctite to secure the bolt. Makes me question their attention to detail skills. read more

This Midas is the best. they did a Major tune up and exhaust repair that would have taken most shops 2 to 3 days, in one day! (o2 sensors, plugs, converters, plenum gasket, fuel system service, the works!) I checked the work and it looks great, and my MDX runs great most importantly. Thanks again Ron and team! read more

Went here to get my breaks checked out because my car was making a lot of noise. They did a full work up and found that it was the ball bearing that needed replacing. They fixed that and now my car is so quiet its stealth and runs very smoothly. I have an old car and didnt even know it could be that quiet. I've taken it to other mechanics before and no one found the problem but had told me various other things were wrong with it. They showed me the issue and explained it to help me understand and were very clear, helpful and friendly. read more

Thanks for finding me a coupon for an oil change, Al! He also put me in line and let me run and errand and come back! Good service!

I was extremely surprised to have seen these reviews after my personal experience with this Midas. I was initially sketchy due to that fact that I was in there alone with out my husband and clearly didn't know what was goin on and that I was a damsel in distress! That eventually changed once Bryan checked me in and took the time to explain to me with details of my dilemma along with the process of solving it and on top of that relay the same message to my husband who was out of state via FaceTime (you gotta love technology). I clearly do not regret my visit and am actually glad I came across this shop because I have been looking for a place to trust. So I recommend not letting these old comments affect your judgement because by the looks of it things have changed! read more

TOTAL SCAM! Was taken advantage of and tried to rob me of my money. Came here for a new battery because my car wasn't starting. They said they'd need to do a car diagnostic scan to see what the issue was. Which I already knew was the battery. Was told I'd have to pay $140 for a car diagnostic test?? Seems a bit high but I was in a rush because it was the day after Christmas and had to drive all the way to Kansas to visit family, so stupid me I just said whatever and signed the paper. This is where I think I went wrong... I go back home and after a few hours I get a call from Midas and they begin to rattle off a long list of repairs that they say need to be done, struts, shocks, brakes, tires, you name it he listed it... now here's the best part, he then tells me it's going to cost $5,600!!! I am absolutely just shocked and disgusted but I shrug it off and zero in on the real problem: my battery. He says that would be $310 and that I would also definitely need spark plugs which would be extra. That's excessive so I call the next closest Midas, 210 dollars LOL. How?? Call CarX down the street, 110 dollars that's more like it. So I decide on CarX and I go to pick up my car from Midas, I get charged $140 for the car diagnostic scan which btw he said didn't work because the battery died and they weren't able to pull the info, and $30 for a car jumpstart! Absolute BS I can do that myself. But I was in a rush trying to go to Kansas that day I paid and went straight over to CarX where they switched out the battery, told me nothing else was needed, and I drive off into the sunset paying only $110 and since then not a single issue with my car. Then after the rush of the holidays were over I looked back at that bill from Midas and was just disgusted by what happened. I decided to go back and get my money back and was told by THE MANGER that he would have to talk to the assistant manager tomorrow and get back to me. Why would the manager of the store not be able to handle this? Never received any response back. And not surprised in the least. This is my first review ever, I just couldn't stand to let this go untold and have another poor soul go through what I did. read more

I went to this location to have my brakes inspected because my warning sensor came on. I have an Audi, so I rely on Fletcher Jones for a lot of my service, but they are quite expensive. I initially thought that I was going to have to shell out $5-600 for new brakes. After inspecting my car, they told me (even after the dealership said that the light only comes on if the "pads are down to the metal") that my brake pads were still 50-60% left, and that only my brake fluid was low. They refilled the fluid, the light turned off, and I was sent on my way. My brakes feel as good as new. I really appreciate the honesty that they showed, and that not all service locations are out to "screw you over." I will most likely go back for a brake flush...prob $100-120. Better than $500! read more

I have a fleet vehicle through my work. I have always taken my vehicle to this location for maintenance. Typically these types of places like fleet vehicles because it's guaranteed payment. I made an appointment to have my oil changed and went in. Immediately, the guy at the counter was cold and hardly welcomed me. When I handed him my fleet vehicle management card, he had to hand it to the manager, Al. Al took a few minutes with my information and told me he was unable to process my card today, that his system wouldn't allow. I asked if it were an issue on my fleet company's end or his end, and he replied his end. The only answer he gave me is "I don't know what to tell you, it's not working". I asked if he was able to call anyone to see if Midas and Element fleet lost partnership (even though I know they haven't because it's where my entire company takes their vehicles for maintenance) and he refused. After asking just a few questions on why it wouldn't work, he just said he has no answers and doesn't know what to tell me. He raised his voice to me. He started to walk away and when I asked him for his name(for when I called Midas corporate to figure out the issue), he stormed back at me and even came up close to me like he was trying to intimidate me? I'm a 29 year old, 130lb female. It was truly bizarre. He also told me I was "pushing" him for answers when I was simply asking him to put in SOME sort of effort. It felt like he was just shutting me down and get me out the door without ANY explanation even the issues were on HIS end. Absolutely ridiculous and horrible customer service. I will never be taking my vehicle here again. And I do not suggest you do either. I don't care if you have an off day or have other stresses (like it seemed both employees there had today), you never treat a customer like this, ever! read more

I started using this Midas last century and 3 cars ago, enough said. Clearly I've been pleased with their service, I rarely receive upsells and Al the manager is open and honest with me about my car's condition. I started with just brakes and expanded over the years as services were added and I tired of other shops doing poor work. One employee identified the car using the plates and had my records up when I walked in. Kudos! That said, I wasn't happy my car had the keys in it even though it was right in front of the door. They used to keep the keys inside and hand them to the customer. This has happened a few times and I thought it was because they knew I was on my way. This last time, I had major brake problems which were repaired along with several smaller but necessary maintenance items. 2 days later I'm replacing a tire (I used a different shop.) 2 weeks later I'm at the dealership because someone opened the console and tampered with the shifter wires. Don't know, just paranoid. That said, I'll probably continue to use this Midas. read more

It's a good spot, pretty quick service. The first time I went they topped off my washer fluid for free so that was good.

Love, love, love these guys. They're busy, so expect to leave your car there for at least an hour (for an oil change on a Saturday) and probably a day (for a larger repair), but I wouldn't take my car anywhere else. I've been taking on car or another here for 5 years, and I can't count the number of times I've walked in there ripe for being ripped off and they've neglected to take the bait. I've always found them to be totally honest about whether or not they think they've truly identified the problem, what needed repair, how long I could go without repairing it, and what the consequences would be if I waited. I found the last two things were really important when I was trying to eek the last breaths of life out of my old car before buying a new one, and with their help, I think I got the balance just right. I know at least two other people who would say the same thing about their old cars and several more who have been happy with their service. read more

I had my oil changed here for $80, and had a brakes inspection for $30. I don't use my car often, so I drove a bit around and left my car at my boyfriend's. Ten days later I start driving around and the oil light started going crazy and my car overheated. I realized there was absolutely no oil in the car. I had oil put in to make it to the Midas shop and the manager said I had broken the oil filter housing, and that I needed a new one for around $350 just for the part, and that he was gonna charge me for labor. So, he pretty much tried to charge me over $600 for something that was not broken before I took my car in. I took my car to a different mechanic, and they said only the gasket was broken; so it went from $600 to $10 bucks......... By the way, when they did the brakes inspection, they quoted me $1400 worth of work, which my new mechanic did for $350. Furthermore, the manager is a condescending, lying douchebag. Please do NOT go to this place for your own sanity. read more

I took my car here with squeaky brakes a few weeks ago for them to take a look at. I had replaced the front brakes about a year ago and only drive the car once or twice a week in the city. About an hour later, receive a call telling me that all four brakes and rotors are worn and rusted out and need to be replaced with a grand total of around $1000. I told them it was impossible, I just replaced everything and don't drive often. They proceeded to tell me that because i don't drive my car a lot and park it outside, that caused the rotors to rust faster than normal and brakes to wear down quickly....HUH?? Skeptical about everything, I took my car and went to a different, local brake shop. Turns out, the brakes and rotors are just fine!! This place is a scam....always get a second opinion!!! read more

I had a very good experience with this shop. Heard something scraping under the car while descending down a step parking ramp. Made an appointment at this Midas(good thing because the place was packed but they took me on time), and was told the heat shield had rusted through.Estimate from Ron was reasonable and I was told everything else looked good and the car was driveable in the interim. Parts came in within 24 hours. OB worked on the car and showed me the rusted parts when I asked to see them. They did not try to sell me anything extra and I would return here. Others in the waiting room had good experience with this shop. Close to the train if you need to leave the car. read more
