This Midas is terrible. I had my breaks replaced here 2 years ago and they have squeaked and grinded every since. I took my car back in after 2 weeks of squeaking and they said that they were still wearing in- to bring it back if it didn't stop after 500 miles. I took it to another Midas where they were able to make some adjustments and make the squeaking a little better. Now, two years later I am having my breaks redone elsewhere. Do not go here. I googled "oil change" near my job and came up w/Midas. I went in and received nothing but great customer service. The guy who worked on my car introduced himself and offered to give me a ride to work since it was raining when I dropped my car off-how many businesses do that?! They called me to let me know that I would need to get my alternator belt changed since it was pretty cracked but they weren't pushy or sales-pitchy about it. When I picked up my car the technician explained exactly what he did and that my brakes would need to be changed soon. I felt very taken care of and will definitely be coming here for any future car maintenance! read more

if i could give this place a below 0 rating i would!! i took my truck to this place because it wouldn't start (turn over) a week went by with the mechanic scratching his head not knowing how to fix the problem and $900 later = new fuel pump,fuel lines,air filter ect, i finally got my truck back only to return a month later with the same problem :-( which they blamed on a supposed other problem why it wouldn't start again; needless to say the original mechanic who work on my truck was annoyed he had to work on my truck again; and treated me as if i was the problem! really?? Got a flat tire on the way to work today. Called for an appointment to get it checked out, Tim (manager) answered and scheduled me for 11am. When I got there he gave me the basics no fluff and no salesy stuff and I was told it would be an hour and a half until it was ready. 1.5 hours went by and I got a phone call, picked up my car, and left! Would give 6 stars if I could. I was driving home from the in-laws yesterday and was taking the Irving Park exit. There was a car on the shoulder of the ramp with their flashers on. This person wasn't paying attention and decided to jump back on to the ramp when I was exiting, causing me to swerve and collide with the side of the ramp, blowing my rear left tire to shreds. Fortunately for me, Midas was just off the exit (couldn't have been any luckier). With my 2 year old in tow, I stopped in and met Gene, the owner/operator of the garage. Likely sensing my frustration, he jumped off the phone to ask me how he could help. I explained to him my situation and he took me in immediately. When I was taking my son out of his car seat, Gene overheard him talking about fire trucks. He suggested that we swing around the corner to the fire station. I took my son to check out the fire house and about 10-15 minutes later, walked back to the garage. My car had the spare on and was ready to go. I can't say enough about how kind and helpful Gene and his staff were. I'll never forget them helping me out in a pinch (would have been a disaster trying to change a tire on 90/94 with a 2 year old going bananas in the back seat). This is now my go-to spot! I was referred here and am so glad I went! I came to this shop after getting a quote from a different shop that seemed off to me. Gene and Jay were SO helpful in showing me what was wrong with my car and comparing the estimate from the first place I went. As it turned out, the first shop was telling me I needed things fixed that were fine and had no correlation to the clunking noise I was hearing. Gene stepped in and had his guys actually show me all the parts on my car, including what did and did not need fixing. Each person that I spoke to took the time to go over every step and part with me. Jay didnt follow up on the deal (i dont even know this asswipe like that) proceeded to mock my teared up dry eye problem as if im crying over the price.. another situation i called for help @ this Midas location & Jay (same person who usually works the counter, this person is clearly not a mechanic) happened to be working.. Great neighborhood location with affordable pricing. Brought my 2003 ford expedition in, Eddie was working at the front. He did a great job prioritizing the work the truck could use. Didnt get the maintenance done because he said it wasn't safety related, but took me to my truck and had the technician actually show me that my outer tie rod was loose and would eventually break. I for sure fixed that (only cost me 200 dollars with alignment and warranty) and i got a quote for the maintenance to do when im ready for it. Great job team Midas irving park. read more

A guy in the office that a customer referred to as the "boss man" yelled to a customer as he was leaving, "be safe dude, wear a condom!" Are you running a business or...? I'm confused. I called on a Saturday to see if I could get in to have my brakes checked. I was able to get in right away. Upon arrival, Eddie (the manager) noticed I had fuel leaking. I wasn't aware, I couldn't smell anything. Anyhow, I got alot of work done on my front end, didn't have to wait all day. Everyone there was friendly and efficient. Great service. In my previous review of this Midas location, I expressed frustration with scheduling an appointment online. As a result, Midas corporate messaged me and informed the owner of the shop, Gene, of my issues. Gene called me personally to apologize and explained that the corporate website had not notified him of my wanting to schedule an appointment and he offered to make things right. Today I went in for my appointment and had a great experience with Jay, the manager and Gene. Jay was very hands on and personally explained and showed me everything that was at issue on my car, some of which I already knew. Typically, I have bad experiences with car maintenance places and feel as though they are trying to take advantage of me being female. This was not the case today at all. I googled everything Jay said about costs and repairs of things I'd need in the future and things I could do today and the quotes he gave me were very reasonable and in some cases a great deal. They did end up saving me a decent chunk of change today. I'm glad we were able to work things out as I love supporting my neighborhood establishments and without him even asking, I told Gene I would happily be updating my review to a positive one. read more

Service here is TRASH! I had a coupon for a free oil change because the last time I came here they said it would be a certain time frame, I ended up waiting 4 hours. This time is no different! I come for an oil change and a brake light replacement. They tell me it'll be about an hour and that I'm in line behind an appointment. I say it's fine. An hour 45mins later I asked for an update on my car, the guy tells me that I had a wait time of 3hrs because he's waiting on 2 guys to show up. And then tells me when you don't have an appointment it's always a 1-3 wait. I tell him that he never expressed that to me. He said "We tell you it's a wait, you don't have to wait it's up to you but it's going to be 3 hours" THIS IS RIDICULOUS! If something happened from a staffing standpoint, I should've been notified that it would be much longer than expected. Then the lack of remorse is disrespectful and inconsiderate of my time. I will be calling corporate as soon as I finish this post. read more

Eddie, manager, is the reason I felt confident in my choice for my car. He explained every possible option and worked very hard to lower the price as much as he could. The only person I trust more with my car would be my dad. But Eddie comes in close second. While I was waiting I could see the hospitality and respect Midas treats their customers; they know them and calls them by name. I was very nervous to find out all the problems with my car, but Midas did everything they could to put my worries at ease. Thank you for turning my bad news into something manageable. Terrible. They participated in a Amazon Local Special and completelt renege on the offer. After spending the money they all of a sudden announce that they will only honor the coupons on Sunday. The coupon was for several oil changes and tire rotations. When I agreed to set up an appointment for Sunday I told them I would bring in one car at 10 and the second @11. Then they made that this is only good for one car only Not on the conditions of the coupon. I spoke to Amazon Local they also confirmed the days or single car condition does not apply. Unfortunately I took my car to Midas to get my brakes repaired and oil changed about 6 months ago and wish there would have been a Yelp review at the time. To the best of my knowledge they changed my brakes, but they squeaked even worse than when I took them in so I had to return to Midas to have them adjusted which was a big pain. In addition to the problems with the brake repair, I also realized after about two weeks that they had not changed my oil as I had requested and payed for. When I called them about this they acted like it was my fault and were reluctant to change the oil. Their complete lack of both professional and customer service will keep me from ever coming back to Midas including all other locations. read more

Had my brakes done and needed to get them done in a rush. The staff was wonderful and my brakes were done within one hour without an appt. I am a women and do not like to use a bathroom where only men work. This on was different. I could not hold it and was forced to use this one.... Boy, was I in for a deal... Brought car in for muffler and overall check as has over 100k miles. Got estimate for 1,400 of repairs and ok'd work. Drove out with speaking brakes and very odd rumbling noise from brakes, turned around and they fixed. Sound returned along with squealing belts in wet weather. , they had replaced. Brought in a second time and told that brakes cut in way that takes time to smooth out and belts squealed due to alternator bearing. Replacement est 350.00 Spoke to retired mechanic who said belt only squealing when wet would be not tightened correctly and now glazed over alternator would be constant noise not only when wet .... Brakes likewise were done improperly by his estimate I now feel unsafe in my car and have lost faith in shop so feel compelled to go elsewhere to fix their work My experience seems to parallel others noted previously.....so frustrated and not sure what to do next . I have been there when my 2002 Altima started flashing the battery and brake light. Had my vehicle towed into Midas. They serviced my car same day. It ended up being my alternator. I waited at the Starbucks down the street. They are friendly fast and efficient. No one pushing me to buy other services. The place is clean and the workers are friendly and knowledgeable. Went in on Halloween for an oil change, after reading the reviews I knew this would be my best option. Gene was very kind& my oil change was done quickly & it was the best price in all of the north side of Chicago. A lot of places wanted to charge $45 but here it was $24.99! On Friday night, I knew I needed a brake job on my 1991 Volvo. I wasn't surprised I needed it. The problem was I teach on the SE side of Chicago so getting it done close to home after school was not an option. That's how I ended up at the Midas on Irving Park on a busy Saturday morning. And I'm so glad I did. Although the Midas waiting room was packed, Jay at the counter made everything work. Actually, he was an expert at making everyone feel comfortable and welcome. I never thought I would enjoy waiting for my car to be fixed, but I did. Jay kept me informed on every part of the brake job and explained everything to me. He quickly ordered the parts and had my car ready to be worked on when the parts arrived. Overall, a great experience. I'm glad I listened to my neighbors rather than reading some of the Yelp reviews before I went! Another bonus: There's a great coffee spot called Berrista (chef from Moto) across the street from Midas with yummy sandwiches and free wifi! I'll be back to both! read more

If I could give no star then I would! I went there last year to replace my timing belt, but after everything was fully installed, i kept hearing a lot of noise. I even got my brakes done but kept hearing noise as I pressed on my brakes. Kept going back and forth to the store but at the end of the day, nothing was actually fixed properly. The mechanics are not skilled because they can't even fix what they installed or they are using so cheap products. my car broke down yesterday because of the timing belt came off while I was driving. Luckily I was in front of a red light. I called them and they said I have warranty of the vehicle and wanted me to bring the car in. You would? What they installed didn't even last a full year. Sad reality!! Don't trust the owner, the manager, or the tech ppl working there. Never will I go there. read more

Worst experience ever. My car overheated on the highway and they "fixed it" only to have it do the exact same thing on my way home from the city. They said I could take it to ANY midas but then they had it towed to the city so they could work on it and then towed it back. I was out of a car for almost two weeks. Same problem happened a few weeks later and they shrugged it off and told me to go to the midas by me. They then said they would have my car towed to the northern suburbs and I was responsible to get it from there. Constant back and forth with the manager and the district manager. I honestly can't see how they're still in business. TERRIBLE service! Do NOT go here if you actually want your car fixed. read more

Came here beginning of November, Gene the owner was extremely helpful and very accommodating. As I know nothing about cars I was afraid of being taken advantage of (as with anywhere) but Gene made everything super easy for me and was very easy to talk to about my car. I have nothing but good things to say about this Midas location. Everyone was extremely nice and helpful. I had a Groupon for an oil change, inspection and to have wiper blades changed. Jay explained everything about my check engine light and was very helpful and didn't push to have any services done at his shop, although I'll be back because he was so honest.
