This Midas is under new ownership. The new owner Gene has really turned this place around based on what i read on previous reviews on yelp. Gene and his staff are really great and very knowledgeable about cars and the services they offer. My car ran like crap when i brought it in and I was explained the process of what was going on and how to fix it step by step. It now runs like a dream! I definitely noticed an immediate difference. Gene offers great customers service and the price he said I would pay is what I paid. Not a penny more. I obviously had a great all around experience and would recommend it to anyone in need of the wide arrange of services they offer. If you are in the area I recommend you check it out. This place is a joke. I bought a Groupon for two oil changes and that was my biggest mistake . It's like once they find out you have a Groupon their always busy and can't perform the service . I called and scheduled service for my moms car and when she went in they told her there was never any appointment made ! They think we have all the time in the world to be going back and fourth for an oil change . I called them and was furious they then finally agreed to do the oil change and magically had time. Eddie at Midas has exceptional customer service skills!!! He always answers the phone with a smile! I called a few weeks ago because my car was having some issues. I normally go to Firestone or the dealership when I have issues with my car but they were not able to get me in until the next day. I found Midas (4216 W. Irving Park) online, so I called and spoke to Eddie. He said come on in and we will take a look (with a smile). I ended up needthe mufflers replaced. Eddie and his team were so amazing. Now I am having a new issue with my car. Guess who I called first? Midas!!! Guess who answered the phone when I called? Eddie (with a smile)! Guess where I am at right now? So impressed with this Midas and their mechanic Shane! Our car had been shaking while making tight turns - my husband did some research on what could be causing the issue - Pepboys said that what he found was not accurate and we had to go to the dealer. We made our way to this Midas and at first the mechanic said that he could not figure out the issue but guessed what it was (something that would cost 600 or 1500) and recommended we go to another mechanic that would not charge to get inside the area. That was the first impressive thing that Shane did. Second impressive thing that two days later - Shane calls my husband back to say that he did not like that he could not help us and decided to take the initiative and call around to other places and do some research and found our problem could be fixed by changing out the fluids. 60 bucks later our car no longer shakes and I am so impressed that there is still a company out there that goes above and beyond! He did not have to do any research....he did not have to call us back....but he did and we will now be costumers for a long time to come! read more

Great service! Lee and Jamie were both very courteous and helpful. I had a low battery, so I unplugged it and walked in with the battery. They tested it for free, and found it functional, they charged it for me(for 19.99...autozone and advance will do this for free). I was given a ride home with my charged battery and I brought the car back in to have the alternator tested(no charge). I've had oil changes here a few times with no problems as well. 4 stars because of the 19.99 in labor to charge the battery. read more

I have been going to this Midas for 7 years. They're great the staff is knowledgeable and the owner is down to earth. If there is something wrong with your car they'll tell you. I've gone to other places just to get a quote and it's usually a lot more than what they charge here. My mother and I love it here we drop off our cars to get serviced because we both work long hour jobs and pick it up the next MORNING Gene (the owner) is always there. I recently got a big job done on my car raquet pinion tire rods both inner and outer along with a flush and alignment. I have never been happier with my car. I bought this one a year ago with nothing but problems and for every single problem I have encountered with this car I always trust them to fix it. I can't thank them enough! Went in to get an alignment and get two tires put on. From the get go I was treated kindly and with the utmost respect. Apparently the shop is under new management and it turned out to be a great experience. The mechanic took great care of my vehicle, the alignment was perfect and my tires were put on without any issues. The car feels brand new and am very satisfied with everything. I was there for about an hour and a half but knowing what I know about cars, two mechanics for 4 cars... You do the math, it takes time. I know some people get upset for the time it takes for service, but repairs and adjustments take time. All in all i highly recommend this place to anyone who needs work done to their car. What a nightmare...... Brought car in because a different midas had given me lifetime warranty on brake pads.... They told me I needed a master cylinder and quoted me an exorbitant price.... I showed him quote off of my phone and he lowered price by $50... Fine .... Next morning car has exact same problem it originally had(brake light on ... Pedal goes to floor)... Brought it back ... Was told that new mcy caused pressure to burst brake line and I'd have to spend another $750 to make it right.... Did some more research.... He agreed to fix brake line for additional $200.... Pick car up and he tells me that brakes can not be properly bled or calipers could be stripped and that would cost me another $1000.... My complaint is that 48 hours and $650 later they sent me down the road in an unsafe vehicle.... I doubt master cylinder was ever bad and the only people that could have stripped caliper bleeder screws is them .... I called corporate and they are going to call me within 48 hours ..... Nothing like paying top dollar for hot garbage .... Smh read more

I want to say that the guys at this location are great to speak to and have been so helpful when dealing with my mom's car. Jay especially has been so detailed in the information when letting me know what's the issue on my mom's car. He is so courteous, friendly and funny. There are times they are so busy, but they do their best to keep a smile and treat the customers with respect. Jay always makes me feel comfortable to know they are taking care of my mom and her car. We been with them for about a year or more, we use to be at Firestone and their customer service was horrible and expensive. This location on Irving Park near Pulaski, shows respect and great service for reasonable prices. I have been going to this Midas location for years for oil changes, mainly because of the coupon they'd send me in the mail. On April 23, 2018, I called in advance to check on how busy they were and if they had any openings for that day or the next. They confirmed I could come in at 2PM. I went there at 2PM and found all the slots were filled and there was a car ahead of me in line with another that pulled in behind me. I figured I'd be there for awhile. However, when I handled them the coupon for an oil change they gave me some nonsense about how they can't do the oil change anymore based on the coupon. I couldn't get it straight. Something about recycled oil and they don't or do use, but the coupon would cost them too much. They wouldn't honor the $19.99 coupon that was specific to their location. I was told it would be $29.99. Then another guy behind the counter said a lessor amount but they both said they couldn't honor the coupon for $19.99. I told them to pull my car out. The difference wasn't of any significance, but it was the principle. If they won't honor their coupon, how can you expect them to honor their guaranty of work performed? Today, I received another coupon from Midas with the same location listed for again a conventional oil change for $19.99. What game were they playing? Just frustrating. Scheduled an alignment on my temperamental girlfriend drove her into the shop and was quickly greeted by Jay along with a smile. Gene the owner also came out to greet and quickly lets me know that another car is being aligned and my girl will be next. Jay in the process gets into the truck to move her up and he looks at both of us and says "there are no brakes on this car", I am thinking he is crazy (my apologies Jay), I drove her this week and right into the shop with brakes. Gene gets in to test the brakes looks at me and tells me to do the same CRAP it turns out the moment I drove her into the shop she decides to bust her brake line. I recently had a serpentine belt that I had replaced start squealing and I was worried that it was a bigger issue than just the belt. I took my old, old car here in the morning, they took a look at it while I waited and diagnosed a wobbly idler pulley as being the problem which they were able to fix within 2 hours. The car sounds great, the work was reasonable, expensive but what isn't, and I'm very happy with their service. If something goes wrong, I know we're under a 1 year warranty for the work which is good. I would recommend going here. read more

BUYER BEWARE. "MIDAS" in name (and signage) only. This is a franchise. Any trust/brand equity you associate with "Midas" name does not apply here. They will (try to) overcharge you (egregiously). I've have taken different cars to this location for several years. My most recent trip (mid August 2014) was the first since late 2011. Since the last time I was in, this location went from a corporately owned location to a franchise. This change is significant. They charged me $400 for a part the dealer sells for $188. The charged me for 4 hours of labor, to replace the part. The "book" says this is a two hour job. I didn't find all of this out until I had my invoice in hand, and a part # to reference. I called 3 local dealerships for pricing on parts and labor, it took me 15 minutes to get consistent estimates of $465 (parts and labor), for a job this location charged me $800 to complete. I called Midas corporate to file a complaint, they agreed that my complaint has merit, and said the "District Manager" would look into it and get back to me. I received a call from Gene (who called me from the store location, coincidentally). Gene said that it took him 3days to get an estimate from the dealer. (keep in mind that I got 3 separate estimates, from 3 separate dealers in 30 minutes. My secret was calling the dealership, asking for "Parts", giving the person who answered the part #, asking for a price, and asking how many hours of labor it takes to replace said part). Gene admitted that they made an "honest mistake", and did overcharge me for the labor. He offered me a refund for 2 hours of labor charges. I asked him about the $400 charge for a $188 (retail price, from a dealership) part. He said he couldn't do anything about it, that the part cost him $300 (he admitted to a $100 mark up), and he "has" to use that particular supplier (the fact that he adamantly maintains that he has no choice but to pay $122 over retail casts an unkind light on the veracity of anything else he said). We went back and forth. His basic premise was that he could charge whatever he wants, and it was up to me to do my research and make sure I was not getting overcharged. He kept stating "this is how the economy works". I told Gene that a refund on the Labor (only) wasn't acceptable and that I was going to continue my complaint with Midas corporate. He said that since i was going to go back to corporate that he was rescinding his offer to refund me for overcharging on the labor. Keep in mind, he had just admitted to overcharging me for the labor (a result of an "honest mistake"). After further discussions with Midas Consumer Relations (Phone # 561-383-3095) , I learned that since this particular location is a franchise. While agreeing that my complaint has merit, the person I spoke to said that there really isn't much the Midas Corporation can do, except document the issue(s) and review them when it comes time to renew the franchise agreement. I have to handle this issue on my end (Better Business Bureau, Illinois Attorney General, Online reviews, etc). LONG STORY SHORT - This is not a "Midas". It's a garage with ethically questionable (at best) business practices, that (currently) has a Midas sign out front. If you want to deal with an actual Midas, location call them up and ask if they are corporately owned. I am definitely not saying that all Midas franchises will try to take advantage of you. Only that if it's a franchise, your options are much more limited if they do. read more

If you read the business description for Midas 'oil change' is not among their specialties so don't be swayed by all of the angry oil change reviewers. my car was due for an oil change and took it to this midas location bcz i had a coupon...silly me...! this place is so shady! the manager ''tim'' comes off as a dumbo, he stares off into space and acts like a simpleton. on the phone he told me it would be a 15 min wait bcz its not busy. when i get there i end up spending 4 hrs for a damn oil change! wtf!!!!! anyway after 2 weeks of having the oil change i notice a very loud squeaking noise from my brakes...i take it back to midas and they say that my calipers, brake pads and rotors need to be replaced. and im handed a 1900$ estimate! anyway i know their stupid scare tactics so i just leave and get my brake pads and rotors changed from the dealership for 1/10th the price. there was nothing wrong with the calipers. i will never give my business to another midas again. read more

I needed my brakes replaced front & back, they were looooong overdue. This Midas is in my neighborhood, so I decided to give them a go... Well I am happy to say they were Wonderful! Price was right & service was prompt and well given. When your vehicle is done and ready you will find a Free car freshener in your car which smells GREAT!!! And a plus to that is attached to the air freshener is a $5 coupon for when you return for an oil change! Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. I just moved into the area and was in need of an oil change, actually long overdue. I googled places in my area and this place luckily showed up. I walked in thinking I was going to have to wait at least an hour for just an oil change. The Manager I believe his name was Gene was very attentive, told me my car would be attended to as soon as possible. Within a couple minutes he came my way I thought like all places he would tell me I need a new air filter, a flush, new brakes (though they just got done a few mths ago), etc. That is the way Auto places work now and days, anything to suck you dry. Dropped of my car this past weekend since I had heard this Midas was under new ownership. I normally would not take my vehicle to a franchise auto repair shop, however this place was highly recommended. My experience was highly satisfying in particularly with the customer service as they dropped me off at my office while my vehicle was serviced. I own a foreign vehicle and after being given a ridiculous price at the dealership Midas was able to get the job done at half the price, and did an excellent job. NEVER AGAIN WHAT A RIP OFF!I had a loud muffler they told me I needed a new muffler they charged me $1,100.00 dollars I never replaced a muffler on my car after 12 years. so I had the work done,.a year later I needed service done again this time at another place only replaced part off it, at $150,00 dollars and six months after that I had to replace the entire muffler system at $ 374.00 dollars and this place gave me a warranty! and told me it should last at least 4,or 5 years in Chicago weather,,DONT go to this MIDAS location they are a rip off they should be shut down!! read more

Went here for an oil change but found out 2 months later when my neighbor checked the dipstick that the oil wasn't changed looked black and I had less than 2 quarts in the engine and no leaks. Never going there again and I will Changc the oil myself from now on. I think they did it on purpose so I would need a new engine. read more
