Tried battery boost on site, nothing...called auto club to see what they could do, imagining a tow to nearest mechanics.(Midas Brentwood Bay) Auto club got the car to start after trying numerous things, found to be starter problem. During my flat tire repair service, not only did they call back suggesting they could repair it, they promptly did the service 1 hour before their shop closed, on a long weekend, without hesitation. I took my vehicle in with a piece of metal wedged in the center of my tire. The young technician stated the tire was not repairable and I was charged over $30.00 to put my spare tire on, as they found out my tire was under warranty where I purchased my tires from. Midas just wanted to sell me a new tire. When I left and drove down the road, I received a call from MIdas that the technician forgot to put my tire in the back of my vehicle of which I previously requested. When I went back to pick up my tire, the owner Paul apologized and went to get my tire. I took the tire to where I originally bought all four tires, and was told that my tire was fixable and they repaired it at no cost. I repeatedly phoned and went into MIdas to speak to the owner Paul and was told that the owner is hardly in the shop and that he is hard to get a hold of. The staff refused to give me an email address for Paul nor was I not allowed to leave him a message for Paul to contact me. Very poor service and I would not recommend Midas to anyone. A rip off automotive center. Shame on you all! read more

February/2025: I put off doing anything about a recurring engine light for awhile, and sure enough, when I got my KIA to Midas to leave it overnight, the first big snowstorm hit the Island. The next morning with all the traffic snarls happening on the roads, I didn't hold out much hope that they'd be able to get to the 'extras' I'd asked for in addition to the problem with the engine light, but thank you MIDAS, you did it all. First, Garry, the technician figured out the mystery behind light and replaced the camshaft position sensor damaged by an oil leak, then got on with a thorough inspection of tires, and a battery, oil & transmission fluid check (I needed both the oil & transmission fluid changed). It was done about 11am that morning when they phoned to say I could pick it up. Considering how bad the road was, I'm sure Paul, the service agent at the front desk heard the hesitant note in my voice when we were discussing picking up my car so he asked if I'd like them to deliver it to my place. Good Service? I was knocked off my feet! Both he and Garry were there within the hour, driving my car down the slippery curved ramp into the underground garage at my condo. My feet never got wet AND I paid online. The staff at MIDAS have always gone out of their way for me as a customer during the 30+ years I've brought my cars to their shop. I recently brought my car in for an issue with my transmission / throttle; however, not only did they fix this issue, they also fixed a long standing issue with my axle that I was learning to live with. My car is running beautifully now and it feels like I can get another 10 years out of it. Even though I no longer live in Brentwood Bay, this location is worth the drive. I went in to get a trans and coolant flush as I had found some on-line Midas coupons. My truck is a 2007 with 113k km, so I thought it was good preventative maintenance to do. It would have been about $300 plus tax for the job. My truck was in on the hoist for about ten minutes and the technician comes out to tell me that both trans and coolant were in excellent shape and I didn't need to spend the money flushing them. He showed me the fluid condition too, while explaining it to me. He then told me my coolant was low (which I knew prior) and said he could pressure test it for leaks, and it was likely the rad cap which had a worn gasket. End of the day.....new rad cap and some coolant top up for a very low charge. They could have easily just changed the fluids as I asked, and hosed me $300 plus taxes, but they didn't. Great service, nice people - took me in on a fly when my broken-down car got towed there after hours and fixed it within a day!!!!! Looked my car over while they had it and let me know about things I needed to keep an eye on, too. Did my oil change there, too...it is first come first served and they told me how long a wait would be till my car got in. All around a very positive experience!!!!! read more

Hard to find a shop that you feel confident and comfortable knowing you're not being oversold or overcharged and that what you're being told is in fact correct information. While waiting to have a problem assessed (I knew pretty much what the problem was before I went in so I know I wasn't being snowed but needed it confirmed) I listened to how others were served. Gracious, courteous, professional and without pushing. Customers decided what they wanted done without pressure. My step daughter had just had a wheel bearing replaced. I was quite surprised how little it was. Although way out of my locale if I can get my vehicle there I'll definitely take it there. read more

I have always been extremely pleased with the service I have received at Midas in Brentwood. In many ways, the service my wife and I have received is like what was had in the old days. I mean this as a huge compliment! I only get to see the people at the service desk, all are very friendly, professional and trustworthy. I called for an oil change and they told me they just do drop in. Problem is I had dropped in a couple weeks ago and since there was no line up place for cars I went into the office. Everyone was too busy to even make eye contact with me or answer when I asked if it was a drop in, and it became obvious they do more than oil changes there, so I had concluded they weren't a drop in. I pointed this out to the person answering the phone and she implied they were often that busy, and also confirmed that other customers could be having a lot more done than an oil change, even possibly a three hour repair. Screwy business model, I wouldn't recommend going there to anyone with a life to live. read more

Best avoided. Rude unconcerned staff. The 'express' lube service takes up to 2 hours and the promotions are not honored unless you book well in advance. There are many other & better options. read more
