Made an appointment. Show up on time for my appointment with email confirmation in hand. Rude worker says it will take 2 hours and that my appointment was never entered into the system. They tried to make it seem like it was my fault. Extremely rude staff that doesn't care and will blame you for their own mistakes. I took my vehicle to Midas in Bloomington, IN recently for a/c service. They were unable to complete the job at the shop where I went, so they took my vehicle to their other shop in town. After waiting hours with no updates, I called & was told it was ready. They charged me $500+. The a/c worked for about an hour. I took it back. Again, hours later with no updates, I called & was told it was fixed. Again, the a/c worked for only an hour or so. I returned a 3rd time (I was paying for Uber rides over & back each time!); they decided it needed a new compressor. After many hours, I called & was told the machine needed to charge to system wasn't working. Finally, they repaired their own equipment; it was approaching closing time for them, so I went to the shop to see what was going on. Everyone went home, except for the manager & the technician. Finally, about an hour after their closing time, they decided they couldn't repair the system! 3 times they tried!! This isn't rocket science! This is a service any certified technician can do! The owner even told me he has a vehicle similar to mine! So I left in 100 degree weather & days & days of frustration, with no a/c. Naturally, I had to prod & threaten them before they finally refunded my $500. These two places are poor excuses for a name-brand repair facilities. My car shut off and stopped working and I was so scared of getting up-charged somewhere because I know nothing about cars but DJ the manager fixed my car right up at a fair price instead of making me pay something outlandish like the other auto places were suggesting. Took the car in for a brake job at Midas in Columbus, IN. Paid nearly $700 (all four pads and rotors) and drove the car home. A few months later, began hearing a terrible grinding noise from the rear. I have moved to Bloomfield in the meantime, and took the car to my local Midas to see what was up. They pulled all four tires and it was obvious the left rear wasn't touched by Midas in Columbus. The pad was gone, the rotor horribly scored, and the caliper frozen. The Bloomington Midas worked us in immediately and completed the repair job at no additional expense and was very apologetic for the crappy work that Midas in Columbus had done. Been to this Midas twice, and was treated fairly and taken care of both times. First, my coolant was leaking on my Camaro and they performed a pressure test to find that leak for me. Few weeks later, I brought my Cadillac in because the brake was locking while I was driving. They found that my rotor, brake pad, and caliper needed replaced and brought me in the garage to show me exactly what was wrong. They said my car would be done by 10 AM the next morning and sure enough, done by 9:30. My car feels brand new. This shop is efficient, friendly, and professional. read more

Came in with a broken rim. They told me that they didn't have a replacement and I would have to buy my own rim online and bring it to them for installation. No explanation for why I had to do their job. So I bought a rim on Amazon, but when I brought it in they told me it was the wrong size, and I would have to buy another one. After two visits for a busted rim and still no fix, I decided to try out a different tire shop. The new guys fixed my rim in an hour for $20. read more

My husband had a flat tire while traveling on a Saturday morning during normal business hours. He managed to make it to this business. They said they could help in 2-3 days. Left him stranded in their parking lot with a flat tire. He didn't have his tire tools and they wouldn't put on his spare or a replacement tire. He had to be towed to nearby tire shop for a 10-minute fix. The other shop wouldn't even charge him but he paid of course for the help. Not only bad business but just very unkind Midas. read more

-5/10. Midas tried to sell my daughter, who is a student at IU, a new rim for $189 (which is nearly twice the price as a new rim as quoted from 3 other shops.) She was told that they "tried" to bend the rim back but couldn't. The rim was taken to another shop for a second opinion and they were able to bend it back for $12. Preying on young women for sales is an embarrassment, a poor reflection on this particular location, and Midas as a brand. read more

NEVER GO HERE!!! I got my oil changed (you know the most standard/routine non invasive work you have done on your car)and they did not put the oil filter on correctly. The oil leaked all throughout my car, damaging my engine, and crank shaft position sensor (very important sensor!!!). Not to mention for the warranty on my car routine oil changes are required. Now I see why they say take it to the dealership. This all turned out to be a $400 headache from a routine oil change. If they can't do this right, don't trust them to do any work on your car. I will be calling for a refund because this is ridiculous. Never go there. read more

This Midas saved me from a string of shops that kept repairing each other's work and charging higher amounts each time. I had taken my car to four different shops before going to Midas because it kept catching on fire below the gas tank (brake issues), but Midas sat with me and reviewed the previous invoices thoroughly before beginning their work. I am happy to say that after struggling with other shops for the same issues (over the course of a couple months) Midas actually fixed the problem! My car has yet to catch on fire again, and I know I'll be bringing my business back here in the future because they clearly are experienced. read more

After my experience at Midas On East Third in Bloomington, In i would think twice about doing business with them. I had used them for 10 plus years before moving to terre haute 3 years ago and always had a good experience but management today was awful as was the service. I will state that Brenda who has been there for a long time was very kind this am. To begin I took my civic to them this morning to have a routine oil change done, pretty simple right? Well immediately upon leaving i headed out of town. While on 46 just outside of Spencer i all of a sudden heard something scraping underneath my car so i pulled over on the side of the road to find it was my under engine cover/ skid plate whatever you want to refer to it as. One bolt was still attached out of the four still which left it dragging under the car. It was obvious the other three bolts were not fully tightened and had fallen off. After realizing what it was and that i couldn't get underneath the car enough to remove said bolt i drove around the corner to a mechanic and asked them if they could jack it up so i could get underneath the car and remove the last bolt. They were kind enough to do so. I then left and headed straight back to Bloomington to Midas. I walked in with the cover in hand and asked if they had forgotten to tighten the bolt. The techs response was "there was only one bolt". I let him know that was impossible as i had to remove one of the bolts and there was no way that the one bolt out of the four that it requires could hold the shield in place. They did attach four new ( used) bolts on the shield for me so it was secure. (thanks for fixing your mistake.) Once they got done i asked if there was anything they could do for making such a mistake and wasting almost an hour and a half of my time. The manager who is new since i moved out of town or at least had never seen him before laughed and said what do you want money and lied to me again and said there was only one bolt on the shield to begin with. Again lying to my face as if i was stupid. The shield would not stay on with one bolt as was proved since the one was still in there when it started dragging. I stated i wasn't an idiot and that him and his tech were both lying to my face. With that he said he could offer $5-10 dollars off my next oil change. The same coupon they offer for all customers on their website and the same discount i received already. I stated i would like some sort of refund to my card. I did not ask for a full refund although i don't think i would be out of line. He smirked and said have a great day sir. I then stated it was bullshit that they lie and treat longtime customers this way. He again smirked and said have a nice day sir. They have def lost a customer in me and i would think twice before doing business with them. read more

I took my car in for a tire and an alignment on 11/17 . I got the new tire and did not want it to wear off on the inside like the old one had so I ask them to set the alignment on the front of the car. They came back to me trying to up sell me a new rt wheel bearing and a left tie rod end because both had a small of wear to them . The man who was supposed to do the alignment said he couldn't do a good alignment without them being replaced and would not guarantee the alignment. I asked him to set it as good as possible which I thought he did until I drove it a few miles. The car now pulls to the left into oncoming traffic and the steering wheel is almost a quarter turn off. Neither of which was it doing before this person worked on my car. I have been working on and around cars for 20+ years . They could and should have done a better job on my car. I will not go back there again . I have another service appointment to get my car re-aligned by another shop I have used for years today 11/19. I hope you heed my review as I have learned that just because a shop can work you in does not mean you should have them work on your car. Lesson Learned. read more

The reason I'm giving this review 2 stars and not one is because they do standard checks (tires, oil, etc.) when you bring your car in, so that's good. But the nightmare started when I brought my Saturn Vue to get my brakes checked, because I thought they were the source of this annoying squeaking that's audible anytime I drive. Not only did they tell me they fixed the issue that was making the noise, they told me my brakes were perfect. Fast forward to a week later when I'm leaving work, 20 miles from downtown Bloomington, and MY FRONT TIRE FALLS OFF while I'm driving. Turns out, they didn't tighten any of the lug nuts tight enough and I was slowly losing my tire until it fell of entirely as I was driving. I almost got into an accident. They replaced the tire for free, yes, and gave me some free oil changes, but not only did the problem with the squeaking NEVER get fixed (to this day), but they almost cost me hundreds in medical bills. read more

So, my metallic brake lines decided to go ahead and rust through causing a very frantic, "Oh, crap!" moment as I tried to use my brakes. My foot went all the way down to the floorboard but luckily I lived to write this. Funny how 18 years of winters with plenty of road salt will do that. I took my vehicle to Midas as I really did not want to deal with trying to install new break lines. I have done it before and decided after that I would just pay to get it done. I got a call from a mechanic at Midas and was expecting the repair to cost around 150.00 or so and believe me it would be money well spent. The mechanic requested that I come in and talk to him as he "wanted to talk to me about the vehicle." I told him that I knew what needed to be done and if he could just give me an estimate. He wouldn't. I knew this was not going to end well after I hung up. I went the next day to talk to the mechanic where he proceeded to hand me an estimate for 1300.00. I looked at it and knew that 3/4 of the things in the estimate did not need to be done right at that second. However, to his credit, what he did point out I knew needed to be done but I can pack and replace the bearings in the front for a lot less (and I don't mind doing that on my own vehicle). He proceeded to give me the hard sell for all of the repairs as he went to talk to the manager I looked up how much my truck would be worth on KBB. In good condition, which mine isn't, its worth 400.00. I told him I wanted the brake lines replaced and that was it. I then had the manager tell me a bunch of hooey. I got them to get the quote down considerably I knew it was still inflated but they had me over a barrel. Anyway, if you're still reading, just be careful if you take your car in. I know they need to make money too but just do a little homework. read more

I took my car into the shop for what I thought would be an alignment. However, they found a couple of suspension issues that would have made the alignment a waste of money. I wouldn't known the difference had they just done it and charged me. They held to the appointment time , were honest and explained everything well. read more

Incompetent. When I called at 9:00 a.m. for an 11:00 a.m. appointment I told them the model of my car (Hyundai Genesis), because the oil filter it requires is somewhat uncommon. When I arrived at 11:00, they had not bothered to check if they had the correct filter, so they had to order it from NAPA while I waited an extra half hour. When the filter arrived it was for a different Hyundai model. They then attempted to charge me for the oil they had put in the car, even though they had to put my old, used filter back in. read more

My daughter took her car in to get the wheel bearings fixed. They "fixed" it and sent her on her way. Same problem so she took it back and they fixed a cv joint. Still making the same grinding noise. She just took it to another mechanic and he checked her bearings and told her they had not been changed and she is lucky her tire hadn't fallen off! They are running a dirty scam and trying to take advantage of college students who do not know anything about cars. The manager, Doug Steele said their reputation was good. This is only because people are afraid of confrontation. We called a locally owned auto service place and explained to them the situation and said themselves that they thought we were coming from Midas and even prescribed the problem before they looked at our car. I got my car checked on a Tuesday morning after the check engine light came on, came in, and upon coming in had immediate issues pertaining to ignition and eventually the car didn't come on. After getting some help and some tapping of the starter under the hood and it came on. Although it's a temporary fix, we managed to evade the $800 bill for the problem that didn't exist. Don't get scammed-avoid Midas and specifically this Bloomington midas. I will make sure to post this on Facebook and all other review sites to ensure people aren't taken advantage of. read more

We knew we needed a new thermostat in our 2008 Malibu after taking it to a relative that works at a dealership, so we took it to Midas to have the work done (thought it would be cheaper). We had no leaking fluid and there was nothing wrong with the water pump. Midas handed us an estimate for a new thermostat AND new water pump for $900. Couldn't believe it. read more

So I was leaking orange fluid out of my car, had no idea what it was, turned out gm has orange coolant. The guy who checked it out broke it down for me and told me what I need now and what I'll need later. The mechanic that worked on my car was awesome, he was able to do my intake and got a new radiator in. Make sure you call and make an appointment! They won't do walk ins usually.
