I've been looking for an auto repair shop for a while and I think I've found the place. I took my Toyota Rav4 in to have the front brakes and rotors replaced. They gave me a quote over the phone that was about $40.00 less than other shops in town. Mande and appointment and had my car there by 8:00 when they open the shop and was called by 10:30 to let me know my car was done and accurate to the estimate. If you are looking for a no nonsense repair shop with guys that are honest, to the point, and efficient give them a call. They don't do everything in regards to repair but they will recommend places in town if they can't take care of your repair needs. read more

An good honest mechanic is hard to find. I first brought my car here two years ago to get a locally-owned oil change, and was impressed by a competitive price that included only the good recommendations without any of the budget-gouging bull that Jiffy Lube offers you. When my wheel bearings were making a tumbling sound, I paid Firestone to inspect it and they told me I needed to replace the left one now and the right one soon, "but we recommend you do it now too." They quoted me over $700 for a little juggling sound. My every instinct was telling me to get out of that sterile impersonal Firestone HBO lobby. Then I called JNS and they quoted me considerably less for parts AND labor and so when I brought it in for them to make the repairs and they called me back telling me that it was in fact the right wheel bearing that needed replaced and not the left, based on my prior experience with them I went ahead with their advice. Still not a sound from either wheel bearing, and J&S is still the only mechanic I'll ever go to in Bloomington. There's nothing better than a mechanic with competitive pricing , convenient and flexible scheduling, and who knows their what for about foreign and domestic cars... except for an honest mechanic, and these folks as real honest people. As evidenced by their charming waiting room decorations they've been in business for decades for a very good reason :) read more

This is my new place for auto repair. Usually have not needed it but had to have new brakes put on. They also replaced struts and air suspension and wheel bearings in front. I knew needed all. They were much less in cost than anyone else in town. They was able to get all the work done on my car in less than a day. Very good work and car rides like a new one. Good job guys!!! Slightly overpriced. Did quick work of repairing my brakes. Knocked a hub cap off and refused to replace or admit anything. Wont be back and wouldnt advise anyone else coming here in case something like this happens again! Handled it unprofessionally adding it might have been stolen while in their lot, under their supervision. read more

An unassuming two bay auto shop...who would expect such great service? After trying to find a auto shop in town to check the brakes on my car, I ran across the reviews of this place and decided to take a chance. Turns out there was nothing wrong with my brakes, but Scott recommended that I get new tires and an alignment. Since they do not sell tires or do alignments, I was grateful to have found an honest mechanic that would actually give me some advice that didn't make him extra money at my expense. He didn't even charge me for a full hour. This kind of place is a rare find and if you are unsure or untrusting, like I am, then you will be happy to have found this place. read more

I took my car here on the recommendation of a co-worker, and boy am I glad I did! I needed my back brake rotors and some brake pads replaced. I dropped my car of at 8:30 and they called with an estimate at 9:15. My car was finished by 11:30. The owner was helpful from start to finish, very polite, and personable. The building/shop is not fancy or shiny, but don't let that stop you from having them work on your car. I was worried that, as a younger female who pretty much had no clue what I was doing, I would be given a high estimate/cost or told I needed more work than necessary, but I had a great experience at J&S! read more

After I had a breakdown, we used yelp to try and find a best place to get our car fixed and we were not disappointed! We were quoted a price and after only having the car a day and a half we were called and told it was ready picked up at the quoted price! This was a huge us for me. They also fixed something that needed taken care of and didn't charge any extra!! Friendly old school car guys at a great price with above average time getting it done. I have a 1999 Buick that is understandably on its last legs. When I drop my car off in the morning, it is routinely done within a couple of hours for a really decent price! Since my car is so old I'm always worried they won't know how to fix it or they won't have the parts for it, but they always do. I live in the village and always pass by this place, and when I needed my brakes replaced I thought 1) it would be very convenient to take it here and 2) it has generally better reviews than all the other places. All the reviews on here were right! Now I'm a 20 year old female who has been treated like a dumb girl by other mechanics in town even though I have experience working with cars and know when I'm being hustled with it, and these guys didn't even try. They were incredibly nice to me and treated me like any other person. I ended up getting a full brake job in the front (I knew this was needed- they did not try and scam me into unneeded repairs) and the price was really good! All in all for parts and labor it was $334. I was expecting 400-500. I dropped it off in the morning around 11 and it was done by around 4pm. Absolutely incredible service, I can not recommend these guys enough. read more

For 50 years I have been taking my cars to the same service shop and I have been very happy with the service, about four weeks ago my battery light would come on and go off when I was driving so I took it in to have it check out at the service shop of 50 years, they said the battery tested good , a week later my car would not start, So I took it to J&S Auto Care across the street from where I live ,come to find out the battery cable terminal had lots of corrosion, so I had the service done there. J&S Auto Care resolved the issues very quickly and professionally. Very happy with the service. read more

I found this company on Yelp. They had great reviews. They definitely lived up to their high rating. My nephew is an IU student and has a 1999 Jeep Wrangler. It didn't start and he needed to drive it to work and to drive home to Minnesota for Christmas. They gave me the name of a towing company which towed the vehicle soon after I called. They gave me a quote, ordered the parts and fixed the vehicle all in one afternoon at a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend these guys. read more

My 99 Durango blew the water pump last night and I called J & S in the morning. They took it in, told me what it was and what it would cost in less than thirty minutes. Fixed it in a couple of hours. Great service, honest guys, wont overprice you, and if they cant fix it they recommend other places. After PepBoys returned my car to me 5 times!!! claiming that they fixed my parking breaks, and each time it took me less than 5 minutes to figure out that the parking breaks are not working! (just park on an incline, push the pedal, release the break and voila, car rolls down hill like there is nothing in its way)..then after everything and 250$ (for nothing) PepBoys had the nerve to ask for 300$ additional to replace my parking break cables. in short stay away... I then came upon these guys (J&S Auto Care) based on a recommendation. They figured out right away what was the problem and gave me an honest and lower estimate. Did a better job than PepBoys with no hassle, and actually charged me LESS than the estimate they initially gave me since the problem wasn't as bad as initially assumed!!! This is not a one time thing either! I have been coming back to them and occasionally they would charge less then the original estimate if some part did not need replacing or the job was simpler than they expected. Also they never charged me more than the estimate, although I assume its only fair that such things can sometimes happen if something is worse than initially estimated. I CANT STRESS ENOUGH how straightforward, no-nonsense and HONEST these guys are! This was like a fresh breeze in my ongoing mistrust towards mechanics which has been building up over many years of bad experiences, I honestly stopped believing that such a thing as an honest mechanic existed...Until I happened upon they guys at J&S. If they can fix it I'll always come back to them, and if they can't I'll go where they recommend. read more
