We were in Bloomington for the weekend, and of course we got a flat tire. Firestone was the 2nd closest tire shop near our hotel and since I'm familiar with the brand, I sent the husband over with our car to see what the damage was. Isaac helped him right away and checked out our tire that was less than a year old. Thank you Isaac for fixing the tire and being a stand up guy and not selling us something we didn't need. Because of this, I will definitely consider Firestone for purchasing my next tires. read more

The two most ergregious complaints I have is 1) When they are supposed to do a full inspection of my car, and it comes back saying front and rear windshield wipers are good, when the back one is entirely broken off of the car, I have no confidence in any of the rest of the inspection. 2) I came in for an overdue oil change, and drove the short distance home. The next day I left to go out of town and have the smell of burning oil coming from my car, and open the hood to see the oil cap wasn't put back on and there is oil all over the engine and almost none IN it. I'm taking my car somewhere else to get evaluated for possible damage done by driving with the oil cap off for who knows how many miles, in the rain no less. read more

First I'll say, I'm a Firestone guy through and through. I've had great success with every store I've used besides this. This is going to be a long review but it was just a frustrating 4 visit experience. I'll start by saying I'm an hourly employee who works roughly the exact hours this Firestone is open (7am-6pm) so when I take it to the shop I have to take an hour or two out of my day which normally isn't a problem. This starts last Wednesday, I realize my tire pressure isn't holding so I look and see what looks like a bent rim. So I take it into the shop with the assumptions they will either fix it or order me a new. My appointment was 4pm on Thursday. I get to the shop at 3:30 on Wednesday just to make sure they have time to get it done and looked at because I need my car to travel site to site for work. Well 5 o'clock rolls around and I've been waiting 1.5 hours just to confirm a diagnostic. At 5 the manager walks up to me and lets me know the techs just couldn't get to it today, so I'll have to come back another day. I wasn't super mad, just a little disappointed they let me schedule a 4pm appointment just to confirm an appointment just to let me sit for almost 2 hours. I'd like to point out the website and app says this store closes at 7pm. You didn't need to be a tire tech to confirm my rim was bent, I just don't own a lift to be able to see the whole damage. The have me come back at 8am in the morning. Which is 1 hour after I clock in but whatever. He tells me I'll be the first car looked at in the morning and should be in and out quickly. Well it's roughly 9:30-10pm when they inform me my wheel is bent and I need a new one. I ask him to order and he then tells me they are out of stock. He doesn't really give me any type of plan, kinda just a shit out of luck type of response. I ask some questions like "does any other wheel work" he responds with there might be one in a different color but it's gonna look ugly. I drive a car with 230k miles on it with a good amount of paint scratches. I just need an a to b vehicle. I wish he would have told me this option sooner instead of basically wasting 30 minutes saying I was out of luck and there was no option of getting a new one. Finally we get it ordered after permission from his boss. Tells me it's gonna take 4 days to come in. 6 days later I'm getting kinda worry-sum, my pressure isn't staying, the vibrations are getting bad and it just seems like a blow out is ready to happen. If I didn't have to use my car for work then it wouldn't have been moved. On day 6 or 7 I decide to call and ask about my wheel, the guy who picked up made a remark that they had a wheel box there for 2 or so days and was surprised no one had called telling me it was here. I was a little confused why they didn't call me right away but, work gets busy and it makes sense. I then come back the next day at my 8am appointment (again, I start a 7am. This is hour 6 I've now missed from work total, to be at Firestone. I come in telling them about my 8am appointment, the guy looks for my name and can't find it. It's almost like an appointment wasn't made over the phone when I called. Lucky they were not busy. I have them get an oil change and alignment done also due to having the free warranty. I assume this will take a few hours so I leave and don't worry about being in a rush. Until it's 4pm and I still don't have a car, so I give them a call and the tech who answers basically says my car has been ready since noon. Yet I never got a call. Also to put a cherry on top, I get my car and drive it home and realize the steering wheel is not aligned, it points off about 30-40 degrees off center. So now I need to call the store again to fix just another issue that they caused. I ended up spending 8 ish hours in one week at this Firestone for an issue that I already assumed and just needed a confirmed diagnosis. Again I'm a lifetime Firestone customer and won't change my way. I just had a bad experience. Maybe stay away from this location. read more

We took our car to get the brake pads replaced. They did an inspection and told us that the battery needed replaced, which it's a brand new battery. They said we needed the car realigned, which we did 5 months ago, and that our new tires needed replaced. They had our car for three days AND DIDNT REPLACE ANYTHING!!! I had the purchased tires to be mounted and balanced. They mounted the tires but the tires were out of balance so bad that I took my truck to a competitor for balance. I was informed that all of the tires were extremely out of balance and that the old weights were still on the rims as if they were never balanced after being mounted. I was told by Firestone that they were fine at 60mph. I haul trailers on the interstate and it would be extremely dangerous for me to haul anything with the tires making contact with the road part of the time and also uneven wear of the tire tread. read more

My van broke down on a drive back from Indy to Evansville. The tow truck recommended it be towed here because it was the closest place still open. That was my first mistake. I was quoted a $2500 repair for something that ended up costing me $200 after getting it towed back to Evansville. It was price gouging at its worst. The place that fixed it told me that all of the previous check engine codes had been deleted. So, there was no way of telling why it came on in the first place. I was charged $100 for a new manifold gasket and the place that fixed it said the gasket was never changed. Well worth the $350 I paid to have it towed away from these jokers. Corporate sent me a survey asking for a review of their work. When I replied, the local Bloomington manager called me with excuse after excuse on how they do repairs "the right way" and how my van will break down on me again shortly. That's a real professional way of talking to someone. read more

Each time I've called, they're friendly over the phone, quick to get me an appointment, and remember me upon entering the store. Their prices are reasonable and their service is excellent. If I could give zero stars, I would! My teenage daughter is a student in Bloomington and got a flat tire. She happened to be near this location so she took the tire here to be inspected. Service Manager Kerry told her the tire was not repairable and needed to be replaced. Because the tire was under warranty, my husband drove down to Bloomington from Indy to retrieve the tire and take it to our tire shop, Discount Tire. Upon inspection, my husband noted that there was no air in the tire at all; hypotheses says some air would have remained if Firestone had filled it up to find the compromise. This morning my husband took the tire to our tire shop to find out the TRUTH: The tire was completely fixable. Discount tire tested the integrity of the tire by filling the tire with air and fully submerging it in water. They found the reason the tire was flat was because there was corrosion around the rim. This had caused a slow leak that a teenager did not notice until it was completely flat. They cleared away the corrosion and filled to tire. The tire is now fine and holding air. My take away, the encouraged culture of this shop is to swindle college students. Most live there away from home without the benefit of their parents being there to handle situations like this. My advice, stay away from this shop, far away! read more

Had a poor experience here. I'd had a flat, bought 2 new tires so I'd have 2 tires of same make/model wear on the same axle. Asked them to check my three older undamaged tires and pick the two best; I'd keep the third tire for a backup spare. They told me I could come in any time. Called next day to be sure and they told me they were full up. Made an appointment for the following day, and when I arrived they told me they were running behind and and wouldn't be able to get to my car for an hour and a half. I asked if I could come back in an hour and they told me I'd lose my place in line. So I waited a total of 4 hours while they worked on the car. I'm 72 years old and I'm not going to share an Uber or Taxi with the driver, so I was stuck there. After all this, they failed to put one of my tires in the trunk after doing the work; Had to come back and pick it up. read more

Completely ripped me off. Avoid this place like the plague and instead go to the Meineke down the road. I had an oil change and tire rotation done and it cost $120. I have NEVER paid more than 70 for a routine oil change and tire rotation. I asked what else was done and they said they did a full inspection... but no other work. I had my next oil change done at Meineke down the street and it cost me $65. Will NEVER EVER go to another Firestone. read more

My brother took his car here and everything that was "repaired" was absolutely not. I thought it was just a mistake so I thought I'd take my car there for oil change and replacing breaks. My brakes were squealing like crazy within 3 weeks and noticed a clicking noise as well. I checked my oil and there was almost no oil in my car. I've never had any problems with it. So I took it back to address these issues and they made it seem like it was my fault and accused me of going somewhere else for my oil change because there was a jiffy lube sticker but it was from the last time they changed my oil and the oil filter that was in my car wasn't what they use either. "Why would I get an oil change somewhere else if I just got it done?" Firestone never changed the sticker when they "changed" mine apparently. Avoid this place at all costs!!! They tried to rip me off for almost $600! So,to begin with went I called and set a appointment to get 2 new tires. I was told "We're not very busy,it will only take a half hour to fourty five minutes." Well when I get there I was told a1-1 1/2 hours,2 hours later they finally get my vehicle in! It gets even better,the 3 toothed "Mechanic" tells me my brake pads and rotors are shot and need to be replaced immediately or it was gonna tear up the pistons on the calipers (this is a company vehicle I was just given until my new company vehicle comes in).By this time it is late in the evening and I had to be up at 3am to go to a important meeting.He tells "I'll have those brakes done in 5 minutes,I done the same yesterday in a half hour"(WHAT????)So,I ask the price for tires and the brake job and the tell me just under $600.I tell them go ahead,so he goes back to the garage to what I assume is to start on my brakes. About 5min later I decide to see if I can go ahead and pay,another employee at the register says "Yeah sure,you're total is $1097.XX"I said I just ask you for the total for tires and the brakes 5 min ago and you said $600! Well at this point I tell them to not put the brakes on as we have our own mechanics at my company.My work wants our mechanics to look at anything that exceeds 1K, unless its an emergency.The next day after my meeting I asked my companies mechanic if he could do a brake job on the vehicle as the firestone "mechanic" said they were very bad and unsafe.Well,well,well, imagine my surprise when our calls me and says "I dont know who told you that you need a brake job,but the brakes are absolutely fine.In fact,I looked at our records and new brakes were put on the vehicle less than 2 months ago!" I went to several dealers, including the dealership that I bought my car from, and they could not give me answers on why my windshield fluid was not working. The places I went before told me they would charge me $170 to even run a diagnostic on the car. I called Firestone to get a quote and they have a $10 inspection fee. Much Better! They got me in the next morning. They found out what was wrong and fixed it within the day, were great on communicating and breaking down the cost of what they were charging me to fix it. In the end, it cost similar to what I was quoted before (not including the inspection fee at the other places) but I would rather pay Firestone for their great service and communication over the dealership anyday. read more

I love this Firestone location. I had an issue with my push-to-start not working for years and nobody ever knew what the issue was and would quote me $1000+ to figure it out. I had my oil changed at this location and the starting issue happened, and their mechanic immediately recognized what was wrong, fixed it for $100, and I never had the issue again. The only reason for four stars is one time I do felt like somebody tried to upsell me, but overall their mechanics are very intelligent and do a great job. read more

I was traveling through Bloomington and found a nail in my tire. I called Firestone and they were able to see me right away without an appointment. When I arrived they asked if I wanted to wait or pick up my car later and I opted to stay and wait. They did not tell me how long they expected my wait to be or if they planned to replace or fix my tire. I ended up waiting almost 2 hours to get my tire repaired, even though there seemed to be only one other car being worked on when I got there. Another customer arrived after I did, waited, and left before my vehicle was done. When I finally asked if they knew how much longer it would be, they said it was ready then, leading me to believe they had forgotten about my car and didn't communicate that it was done. Their pricing was reasonable though ($42 to have the tire repaired) and the waiting area was clean, which I appreciated. read more

Dropped off a car here for an oil change and new wiper blades. The job was not completed at the time promised. Quality of work seemed to be okay (but it is hard to mess up an oil change.) Most annoying is that they did not place the key to my locking lug nuts back into the car after finishing the job. When I called to ask if they still had it the person that answered the phone that I was wrong and that they had put it back (though he didn't remember my car.) After I checked my car again and called back they suggested I come by so that they could "figure something out." There's only one solution to this and it's replacing my key, which I did. Did not go to the store, I was very put off from my conversation. The $20 to replace the key was easier to swallow then dealing with these rude people. read more

Worst mechanic experience of my entire life. The front check in workers were very apparently on drugs, and ended up charging me nearly 300 dollars for a battery change. After asking for my old battery back they told me they'd charge ANOTHER 20 dollars to give me my own battery back. The entire store was chaotic and rude, and far too pricey. They even wanted to charge nearly 700 for a battery/starter replacement. Do not go here unless you break down 2 feet from their store. And even then, you're better off pushing your car to O'reillys. I had the unfortunate experience of my car breaking down in the middle of S. Walnut Street. Fortuitously, it broke down right beside the Firestone Complete Auto Care Center. After calling for help from a friend, we pushed the car into their lot and left the keys in their dropbox. The technicians at the shop were very friendly and explained the issues that had lead to the car breaking down in a clear, understandable manner. Updates on the repair progress were also excellent; I received a call everyday with an update on how things were going. Full diagnostics and repair were completed in under three days, with reasonable prices for the Bloomington area. Overall, while having a car break down is never a pleasant experience, the folks at Firestone made the repair process a breeze. Would recommend them to any in the area. read more

Do not go to firestone. The other day I took my car in because my brakes were making noise and they told me I had to replace everything (brake pads, calipers, and rotors) for $800. The next day I took it to a different shop and they only needed to replace the brake pads for $200. They get you in there with initially cheap prices but then try to gouge you with extras. read more

I've been taking my car here a few times this year because the location is convenient but comparing prices to other places, they wildly over charge me. It was a good option in an emergency but last time I took my car here, when they returned it a lot of my things were missing. I had about 8 or more cds, a very nice flashlight, and a few other things in my center console. I assumed they had just misplaced it when working on my car, or maybe even they forgot to lock it when they weren't working on it and someone else stole from me. I called to ask about my things and immediately was answered with "are you accusing my boys of stealing? Why would they even need your stuff?" In a very rude, condescending tone. It didn't even cross my mind that they could've been the ones to steal it. After that exchange, I refuse to go back. You don't treat a costumer this way, and you for sure keep a better eye on a costumer's belongings! If you want good costumer service and fair prices I do NOT recommend this place. read more

Awful place ! I waited 1 hour after the appointment due time for a battery check-up. I left because I had to go back to work, but my fiance waited. She told me that they gave her a 1200$ bill for suggested services and tried to push her aggressively to fix minor issues with the car while she made it clear that she wanted to fix only the battery. She ended up paying just 25$ for the battery check-up. We will take our car somewhere else to fix it. read more

Would not recommend this place to any young woman. They will probably try to scam you. I went in to get one of my tires patched and they told me that it was irreparable and would have to be completely replaced along with one of my other tires!! This 100% did not make any sense to me since I had just gotten completely new tires put on a year ago and had driven 10,000 miles since then. And my tire wasn't even flat. So I took it to a different place (MIDAS auto tire and wheel who I highly recommend) who agreed with my initial assessment that the ONE tire just needed to be patched. Always get a second opinion! TL;DR: If you are reading this and still going to this shop, make sure to double check the work order (because goof ups occur) and read up a little on what the numbers on the sheet mean. Good Luck! I had been using meinke and firestone for my regular service. I chose this firestone because of its proximity to downtown. I could leave my vehicle here and sit at a coffee shop and the service until now was not too bad. I was in today for a brake and body inspection (what they call the summer care package) because I heard some squeaking on the brakes. I had scheduled this inspection when I had come in for an oil change on Tuesday, 14th July. I left my car in the morning around 10:30 and the front desk person (sabrina) initially picked up a wrong work order for a mitsubishi, and I corrected her upon which she corrected it and picked out some slip from the back (which was also wrong but I did not catch it). I am generally trusting (and forgiving) of people here so perhaps it was my fault in not being rigorous on the check up. (As a general practice I avoid going to places where I have to personally check every job and make sure everything gets done). As to the problems in the service: The lady at the front desk got my order wrong the second time and my keys were attached to a work order which was for a black 2002 corolla (mine is a red 2003 corolla). The work order for the black corolla was for battery tune up and some starter motor. I went back in at 12:32 (I was asked to come at 12:30) and I just stood around waiting while the front desk folks went about answering phone and attending to other customers. After about 15-20 minutes of waiting a man at the front desk eventually got to me. He asked my last name and lo and behold my order was nowhere to be seen. I luckily recognized my key chain and intimated that this car was mine. The guy scurried about a little and then figured out the order was wrong. I understand that mistakes happen, but as a reputable mechanic I expect them to atleast own up to the mistake and make sure you explain what is going on to the customer. After some lollygagging at which point Sabrina blamed the mechanic guy (Joe or John). The atrocity is that no one caught the fact that the work order said a black corolla and the actual car was a red corolla. Alright I concede one mistake and since I am soon going on a road trip I wanted my brakes inspected. I asked them to perform the complete inspection nonetheless and they told me pick up the car in a couple hours. I reach back at 4:30pm (so the whole ordeal has taken me from 10:30 to 4:30 now) and the work order is incomplete. There are some numbers on the brake but the suspension and struts section is completely empty. I asked the front desk person about this and he said to paraphrase - the guy told me everything is ok. Well if he did really check the system and everything was ok why not write it down on the sheet? I am paying for someone to check the car and write down exactly what if anything is right or wrong, aren't I? Well I asked him about the brakes and he said there was some squeaking because some metal thing in the brake pad was not right. He said they could do a conditioning of the brake pad but it is only a temporary fix. I had specifically advised them to tell in case something needs to be replaced. I tried to get the person to explain what exactly the numbers on the sheet means and I could hardly comprehend what he said. I eventually asked him since everything on the report says that brakes are fine what is the reason for the squeaking. He said something about the brake pads having some metal which needs conditioning. Well if it needs to be replaced, why not call me and ask me if I want to replace it? I was in mood for further pain and suffering and both the front desk person and me were clearly at the long end of a tiring day. I picked up keys and left the shop. I am sure I will not visit this shop again, I would rather take it to the remote meinke and ask them for a ride. read more
