I cannot speak highly enough about Wrays automotive. My stepfather who has worked in car sales for 20 years Recommended them after I had a horrendous experience at the Toyota dealership. They tried to tell me I needed thousands of dollars of work on an 18 year old truck. Why?! After a $60 diagnostic they assured me my 2005 Toyota tundra was running great and no issues. So when my 2017 Chrysler Pacifica needed the AC fixed, I hurriedly brought it back. Sure enough, after a diagnostic they confirmed my suspicion that my AC system needed recharged and also found a very dangerous mandatory recall I needed to take care of immediately. This shop is a good example of getting all the basics right. This is a family run operation so they might not nail every one of your professional expectations, but they definitely met mine. I was contacted promptly after diagnosis with a repair plan, they involved me in the plan which allowed me to decide if the cost of repair was worth it, and I got a call the moment my car was ready for pickup. This place is AWESOME! I broke down on a Sunday night (before a Monday holiday!) and these guys towed me that night. They fit me in between appointments on Monday and had my car ready for me that afternoon! Such courteous service, reasonably priced, and - though I never mentioned to them that I was having problems with it - I suspect they also fixed my remote, because it's unlocking the car consistently now. ATTENTION PARENTS of IU STUDENTS If you have a kid that is a Hoosier and their car breaks down, this is the best and only place to get it serviced. Had oil/coolant mix and run through engine. Guys said it would be 18 days to fix and six days later, the car is complete. They also replaced other components, test drove, double-checked everything, and the cost came in under the quote. We are from Naperville, IL. and chose Wray because they have a 4.8/5 rating!!! That is incredible! Their customers love them. They communicated every step and were extremely kind to my son who was in a panic. Wray is a family run operation who saves you money versus being a national brand with higher costs. I never leave reviews but my experience here was fantastic. Came in because I was having trouble with my breaks. I spoke with Chris on the phone and he said that he can try and squeeze me in even though they booked appointments a week in advance. Chris was so incredibly helpful and kind. My kids go to Indiana University and have an older car to use at school. The alternator went bad on the car, and Chris at Wray's was extremely helpful in helping my son get the car fixed. Wray's was busy and couldn't guarantee the car would be examined for about 7 business days, but Chris told me that he can generally push that timing up a bit. And he did. Car was diagnosed and fixed at a fair price in 3 days. He was very communicative and helpful in the process, and even called me a day later to tell me that my son had left his basketball shoes and water bottle at the shop. Excellent place that we will be using while the kids are still living in Bloomington. Great to have a place that you can trust with auto repairs. read more

Updating my review because I noticed a pretty crucial error. I have been to Wray Automotive a few times in the past 9 months for various things on my '85 truck. I was met with kindness by all staff that I encountered. The owner, Sam, even gave me a ride home once because it was about a 3-mile walk from his shop to my home. Everyone I have met seems like great people who are honest and compassionate towards their customers. They do great work and they are not afraid to keep you in the loop. read more

Came in to see what was wrong with my car. Turns out it needed a new battery. They tried to charge me over $300 for it. Ended up going to walmart and they did everything for $100 and a 5 year warranty on the battery . Wray still charged me $50 for what took them 10 minutes to figure out my battery was just bad. Wouldn't recommend... just go to Walmart because these guys obviously can't compete on price or service. read more

I had a fantastic experience at Wray Automotive from when I called to when my service was completed. The front desk was very kind and helpful in understanding the problems I had, both over the phone and in person. The mechanics were quick and Sam explained to me what the issue with my car was and what to expect going forward. They have great prices - I originally had a quote for my engine problem and fix from a national automotive chain and they were quoting me at an outrageous amount - Wray priced it much better. Now that I've gone to Wray, I won't go anywhere else for my car troubles. read more

If you have a child at IU this is a mechanic you can trust. My daughters car would not start so we had to have in towed in. Within 30min they called me to tell me she had put in gas that was water. They told me it could be fixed and explained that I should call the gas station to get reimbursed. I trusted them so much I had them put on rear brakes since I was going to do that over break. I explained that she had class at 4 if they could have it done before that would be great. It was done and my daughter said they were really nice to her when she picked the car up. Only have 1 semester left at IU but I would definitely have my daughter bring her car back here if anything else goes wrong! read more

Today my tire pressure light came on and I was so nervous I wasn't going to be able to find a place to fix it before I need to leave tomorrow. But the staff at Wray were happy to help even so late in the day. They got everything done within 15 minutes and didn't even charge me anything. Great service and friendly employees! Made an appointment to get a pre-purchase inspection on a vehicle we were interested in buying. The seller went out of their way to meet us there to get this done. We saw the mechanic leave for a test drive and then take it into a bay and then they parked it outside but they never called or came out to tell us it was done. After waiting almost an hour my husband went inside to ask and they said the mechanic wasn't able to finish as his wife's car had an issue and he needed to leave suddenly. They printed out a report with some notes about work the vehicle needed with some codes written by hand on it. We paid in good faith as they promised to call us when he got back to the shop to let us know what the codes were and to give us a rough estimate on how much the work needed would cost. They did not call us. I called a few hours later before closing and the person who answered said they were understaffed as someone else had gone home sick, but stated they gave us the codes. We have gotten several other inspections at other mechanics and they always explained what the codes related to and gave us a printout. This did not happen at Wray and the attitude that we should have been happy to even receive the codes written down (without any details - literally just a series of numbers) was really not helpful. Every other time we have had this done we have been able to talk to the mechanic about the condition of the vehicle and get their expert opinion on it, that is after all why you pay for a professional inspection before you buy. He said that they would call us the next day with more info and the estimate for the work. It's now 4 days later and we never heard from them. This was time-sensitive as we had to decide whether or not to buy the vehicle that day and we paid for a service that was incomplete. Pretty disappointing and they could have had more business from us but after the poor communication we will go elsewhere. read more
