Came here because my car was shaking when I drove it. The mechanics were helpful and able to take the car the same day. They said one ignition coil needed to replaced and all the spark plugs needed to be replaced and it would cost $400 for the services. I agreed but also insisted that if they saw any of the other ignition coils were damaged when they opened up the car, to go ahead and replace it at the same time so I would not have to pay $220 for labor again. The manager insisted that only one ignition coil was damaged and I would be fine. One week later, car starts shaking again (more violently than the first time) and service engine warning comes on. I take the car in again. This time they want to replace the remaining ignition coils and charge me $550 including another $220 for labor. If they would have replaced the ignition coil from the beginning, I wouldn't have had to pay for labor again one week later and would not have wasted more hours waiting for my car/the headache it caused. They should have courtesied the labor the second time because it was ONE WEEK after the first time I took it in. They charge for two full hours of labor, when it takes them 1.25 hours to finish the job. These people are not customer service centered and half do the job. Go somewhere else please! read more

Don't bother scheduling an appointment because you'll still end up waiting past your scheduled time. I highly suggest waking up early and being their first customer. If not you'll get stuck watching Steve Harvey for hours. I've never had more than an oil change done on my car a Midas. The fellas are friendly and keep you updated on how much longer it will be. I'm a little late writing this, but in January I was headed from Cincinnati to Youngstown when my minivan suddenly started shaking. I had 3 kids and a van full of cake supplies and 3 days worth of clothes, baby supplies, etc for an out of town wedding shower. It was getting late and nearing closing time when I figured out that AAA couldn't help. I reluctantly drove my van the few miles to reach this Midas and like any "over it, three kids in the van, worn out" Mom, I walked in in tears. At first they told me they could help but it would be Monday when I got my van back, meaning I would have to extend my stay and kids would miss school. So I returned to my van, defeated, called my husband and while doing so, the manager, Mark and assistant manager, Brandon both came out and very thoroughly explained my options, then told me they would both stay past closing to get me back on the road that night. Ecstatic doesn't even begin to describe my feelings! Not only did they provide me with a full description of what was wrong, all my options, from a temporary fix all the way up to a complete fix, they stayed past closing time and got me on my way to Youngstown. I cannot actually say enough about this location. I have always gone to Midas, even when I lived in Columbus, but this is the only location in Akron I have ever gone to. It is not close to my house andI pass like two on the way here. The Manager at this location is a GEM and has always taken such good, honest care of me. And the workers here work so hard. I contemplate buying them food with every trip because I wish I could thank them enough! I'm a car person with a boring Kia and if they can make me feel safe, excited to drive, and capable in that car - it says a lot. read more

Really enjoyed my visit at the brittain road location. I drove by and noticed there wasn't an open slot but I decided to stop anyways. The manager told me they were backed up but he'd make sure that my car would come right in. I was really impressed by his demeanor and how courteous he was. This was the worst place ever for an oil change. The manager Leon was rude and nasty. If you are looking for the 2010 version of Deliverance go ahead and get your oil change here. I regret going here also but was in a pinch and my car would not make it far without overheating. I called ahead and was told the radiator and labor would be $229 and it would take one hour. I took my car there about 30 min later and the guy then said it would be about $380 and TWO hours of labor! I told him I didn't bring that much money and he finally brought it down to $298 with tax and labor. I gave them my number to call and walked to the mall. A few hours later still no call so I headed back over to find my car finished and sitting in the lot! I had a bad vibe from the man the whole time and my gut told me not to get it done there but It was getting late and I work 2 jobs so I needed transportation. Will never go here again!!! read more

I took my car to this location and they did not put the air filter back into the engine. They left the air filter compartment wide open and debris was sucked into the air intake causing the car to stall. I did not know this is what caused it until I took the vehicle to the dealership and they told me whomever had performed my previous oil change had not replaced the air filter. In order to fix the problem the air intake computer had to be reprogrammed, the debris had to be cleaned out and of course I needed a new filter. Over $500 was the repair bill. read more

I have been visiting this Midas location for the past year or so. I will never go back and do not recommend for anyone to go unless you want to be charged hundreds of dollars and have the car returned to you in worse condition than when you brought it in. My first experience was an oil change. I called in, scheduled an appt for the next day and showed up right on time. Hours went by and I called to see what the status was and when I would be able to pick the car back up. I was told they were so busy I may not get the car back until the next day. Despite my efforts at having a smooth encounter and painless experience I was told that they were "too busy" and could not garentee that I'd have my car back that day. The next experience was getting new tires. I was pressured into getting 4 when in reality I only needed 2. Ultimately the decision was up to me and I ended up getting 4. However, the fact that you practically have to explain your reasoning for spending less money there is sad. You shouldnt ever feel that you owe an explanation for not buying something that you don't really need. My most recent experience at this Midas was the deal breaker. I took my car in for an oil change and was told that I needed some other repair work done. I agreed (like an idiot,) and my bill came out to around $100. I paid the bill, thanked the employee for doing the work and got in my car. Turned the key in the ignition and the check engine light was on. I hadn't even left the parking lot. I got back out of the car, went inside and told an employee. They pulled my car back into their warehouse and when they put the key in, no light came on. I was treated as if I had made up a story about the light being on in the first place. They basically said nothing could be done since the light wasn't on when they turned my car on. Sure enough, not even a week later my check engine light came on again. I went to autozone where they can give you a diagnostic report for free. It turns out the reason my light was on was due to the repair work they had just done not even a week before. I called in and set up an appt. When I went in, I made it clear that I was not looking to spend any money as I had just spent $100 not even a week prior. I was told by a man named Mark that "if the problem was their fault, they would take care of it for me." Despite the fact that tons of my time and money had already been wasted, I thanked Mark and left. A few hours later, Mark called me and told me that there was $800 worth of problems that needed repaired. (So within a week they found another $800 worth of messed up stuff since the last time I was there?) When I told him I was just going to come get my car he was very resistant and offered to call his district manager to see if i could get a discount since I am a "valued customer." I told him multiple times I was not interested and I just wanted to come get my car. (Obviously, with the intention of taking it somewhere that won't rip you off for every dollar you have.) Mark told me that since they looked at my car, EVEN THOUGH THEY DID NOT FIX WHAT THEY MESSED UP TO BEGIN WITH, I was going to be charged $88. I remained polite and let him know that he should have told me when I dropped the car off and he claimed that he told me "there would be a charge." Not only was that a bold faced lie, but also, I specifically told him when I brought the car in that I was not spending any money. So to wrap this up, I went in, got my car, was not treated respectfully at all, however I was not charged but I was told that "I should expect to pay money for an older car." It seems to me that the way they charge you for their services is however they damn well please. They will prey on you if you seem like you have money, if you come more than once, and also if you are polite. They also seem to take advantage if you don't have extensive knowledge about car repairs. Aside from all of this, I'd like to also mention that a few months back, I went in (again, for a simple oil change,) and was told I had a broken spring and some other issues and I was charged $1,200. I still have the receipt. I was charged for things that were never even repaired according to the man at autozone who ran my diagnostics and popped my hood to see if he could find the problem causing my check engine light to be on. Do not let Mark fool you, he is a snake. This place is seriously fucked up. Save yourself time and money and go somewhere else. Also when Mark offers you the midas credit card, he will tell you that "he doesn't offer it to many people" to make you feel like he is somehow hooking you up, when of course in reality, anyone who is interested in the credit card can apply and get it if they're approved. It's a dumb ploy to get you to sign up for the card while making you feel like you're getting special treatment, which is funny bc I was offered the credit card by other people working there numerous times. read more
