The quoted price was $3,100 for a large gumball tree located behind my garage, which I understood was a difficult area to access. When the crew arrived around noon, they asked me to request access to my neighbor's yard in order to remove my tree. My neighbor agreed and also asked about having their own gumball tree removed. Edwando told both my neighbor and me that a discount would apply if we had both trees removed. Later, Edwando came back and told me that the neighbor was only removing a few branches, so the discount would not apply. This was not true. The neighbor had their entire tree removed, including stump grinding. MD Tree "Experts" began working on my neighbor's tree around 12:30 PM and finished around 6:00 PM. My neighbor was charged $4,000. Despite my original noon time slot, my tree removal did not begin until approximately 4:30 PM. No one communicated the delay to me, nor did anyone inform me that my neighbor's entire tree was being removed. When I texted Edwando about the delay, he responded: "I understand your frustration, Miss Posner. The reason we started your neighbor's tree first is because of the access. Accessing the tree in your yard was definitely easier after removing the neighbor's tree." My tree was removed in approximately two hours. This was a simple removal, leaving about 12 inches of the tree standing due to its location behind the garage. Based on the time spent, I was effectively charged about $1,550 per hour, while my neighbor paid approximately $575 per hour. I do not understand how my rate was determined compared to my neighbor's, and I question whether my status as a senior female homeowner played a role. I have left messages through the company's website and spoke directly with Edwando, who told me someone would contact me regarding my overpayment. It has now been six days, and no one has contacted me. Unfortunately, because I was not home that evening, I left a check under the front mat for the full amount of $3,100. Had I been home, I would not have paid this amount. The check was cashed immediately, preventing me from placing a stop payment. I am now reporting this company to the Better Business Bureau due to what I believe to be discriminatory and unethical pricing practices.

Every time we've needed tree work, we've gathered multiple quotes--and Cleartree has always been the most affordable or very close to it. But what truly sets them apart is their professionalism, efficiency, and care for the property. This time around, we had some routine yard maintenance and one large pine tree removed due to excessive moisture damage. Their quote was very reasonable, and they got us scheduled within just a couple of weeks. From start to finish, communication was excellent. I received a confirmation text the day before, along with helpful instructions for prepping the area (moving vehicles, etc.).
