I thought the prices were high for the quality of the food, but the place was busy, so people in Pryor obviously like it. The restaurant is clean and well decorated with Early America decor. The atmosphere was busy and the noise level above average. My husband and nephew ordered chicken fried steak. The steak was large and fried to a golden brown. Dan shared with me and still had some left. It cost about $5 more than what we pay for chicken fried steak at diners in Tulsa, but in fairness, the taste of the steak was a little better than what we are used to. The mashed potatoes were made from fresh potatoes, and they were delicious! I chose fried shrimp, French fries, and Cole slaw. I got a huge plate of home made fries which were delicious. I shared with others and still took some home. I didn't like the shrimp and sent the slaw back. The shrimp were not fried crisp and just a little doughy. I got one slice of lemon but couldn't have used more because the shrimp sauce was too thick for dipping. I tried putting some on the shrimp with a fork but didn't like it. The slaw had too much sauce which made the cabbage soft. I asked if I could exchange it for steamed vegetables. They took my slaw but didn't bring the vegetables. Our nephew got a loaded baked potato with his meal and it looked tempting. My sister in law got a rib eye sandwich which came with potato chips. They served it without any sauce, but brought sauce when she requested it. I overheard her tell her husband it was overcooked. The servers were friendly. I'd say we got good service, but two very large groups ordered right before us causing the kitchen to be backed up. We had to wait a considerable amount of time for our food. That gave us more time to visit with our nephew whom we hadn't seen for a long time. I wish we had not forgotten to take pictures of the food since most reviews are a few years old and a lot changes in that amount of time. read more

Wait staff was overwhelmed by a couple of large parties so we waited about an hour after ordering to get our dinners. We had an order of fried pickles that came out promptly and they were good. A full service upscale local restaurant in a town the size of Pryor, with remarkably diverse menu items done very well? Often impossible to find but Mid-American Grille rocks! I was certainly not expecting a really attractive setting and outstanding food but they exceeded all my expectations and then some. So far I've tried the filet, Cajun pasta and chicken caesar salad as dinner entrees (I'm scared of the chicken fried steak, (it's gorgeous and huge!) and every entree has been on point! Service is stellar, warm, friendly and willing to offer suggestions when asked. For lunch I don't think you could go wrong with any of the sandwiches with house-cut fries. It was OK overall. Ordered Katfish dinner. The fish was good and cooked perfectly, there hust wasnt alot of it. I ordered fried okra and cole slaw for my sides. Okra was barely warm and went to long in the fryer as it was nearly burnt, but I like real crispy okra so I ate it. Coulda been excellent if it werent fried so long and left in a warming tray too long. Cole slaw was good/fresh. Wife ordered 2 sides, thinkin she'd snag a piece of my catfish. Her sweet potato casserole was good, but the "grilled vegetables" was merely steamed broccoli & carrots...a letdown if expecting actual flavor from grilling. The menu is comprised primarily of American/Bar food that will cover just about anyone's preference. The house salad, that you can order as a side is not just a few greens thrown in a bowl. It is a really nice little salad that can be garnished with their selection of the house made dressings. The French was very flavorful but, a little too sweet for my taste. The ranch dressing with the steak salad was great! The steak salad was loaded. It almost needed no added dressing. The chicken fried chicken is a large chicken breast pounded evenly thin, battered and fried perfectly. The French fries were fresh, house cut and seasoned. It would be easier to list what wasn't great. The only negative I could find is they don't serve non-alcoholic beer such as Coors Edge, Budweiser Zero, Heineken 0.0 or Guinness 0 non alcoholic heck they don't even have O'Doul's but other than that everything was spot on. read more

I've passed this place numerous times but had not given it a try till Thursday evening. Wow have I been missing out! I will definitely return. I waltzed in the front door and was immediately greeted and seated I chose to sit in the bar area as I was not nearly as clean as the other guests. Heather had the misfortune of being my server this evening, she's pretty amazing by the way. She quickly assured me that she had a good supply of sweet tea and that she would keep my glass filled. The menu was loaded with all sorts of things that I am planning to try. I chose the Creamy Chicken Tortilla soup as a starter it was very good great flavor and consistency and just the right amount as to not cause the full filling. They also bring a warm mini loaf of bread with plenty of butter sure made this fat boy smile. Someone on the other side of the short wall at my back was going on about the onion rings so I ordered some as well OMG the absolute best that I've ever had. A doubled ring of onion sliced thick and battered in a nicely seasoned mix and fried golden crispy brown on the outside while maintaining the softness of the onion on the inside. I really should have stopped there. For my "dinner" like I really need any more but you only live once you may as well live well. I chose the Cajun Chicken and Shrimp Pasta it did not disappoint not that I had any doubts at this point. I'm not a big fan of penne pasta but it was very doable with the creamy sauce of the dish. The serving was very generous the chicken and shrimp were both plentiful and cooked perfectly. No I didn't finish it yes I took it with me in a box certainly wasn't leaving it behind. I had a really enjoyable dinner the place was very clean, the ambiance and decor were definitely on point. The service top notch and the staff knowledgeable and efficient! Heather was a great server and somehow refrained from choking me although I'm sure I would have deserved it. These folks are definitely doing it right on every aspect. This was the worst food I have eaten in Oklahoma...I ordered "grilled chicken smothered in mushrooms and covered in swiss cheese. Sounded good but chicken looked kinda sick when it arrived. The cheese was blobbed on one end with 4 mushrooms halves in it. The side dish, okra, was so badly burned I could hardly eat it and the salad that came first consisted of chopped lettuce, shredded carrots and about 3/4 cup of salad dressing. The chicken, I should have added, had so much salt I couldn't hardly eat any. The bread was delicious. Miniature loaves that arrived hot with cinnamon butter. This restaurant needs a cook that makes food look palatable (which it doesn't) and tastes good. I didn't expect a gourmet meal but this food was not as good as I have gotten from a food truck. Pricing is average but reasonable. My only negative is I requested the onions be left off the steak and either the cook screwed it up or the server didn't write it down. I scraped the onions off which was a challenge due to their volume and they were on top of cheese melted onto the steak. No huge deal but frustrating. First time in, usually go to Hooker's when in town. I enjoyed the ribeye sandwich, 7oz (a little fatty but you expect that with ribeye). Both establishments offer the same dish, Mid-American is better. Hooker's beer pricing is more reasonable and has a better selection of draft beers on tap. Only down side and reason for less than 5 stars. The bartender washes dishes on a sink that is located at the end of bar; directly in customer view. I don't feel like I'm getting a clean glass when the entire process is 10 seconds, start to finish per glass through all three compartments. read more

I was driving through Pryor and noticed this place because the old yellow car displayed in front of the restaurant. I stopped in for a late lunch and was immediately greeted by a pleasant hostess. I was quickly seated in a booth. The waitress came to check on me shortly after i was seated. I was hungry so I ordered an appetizer of Onion Rings and a beer before my meal. I ordered the New York strip steak with steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes. The waitress brought out The onion rings arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and I realized I had made a mistake. The onion rings could feed 3 people! I ate what rings I could and tried the warm bread that was served also. The rings were in a nice batter and fried to perfection, the bread was warm, and very fresh. The meal arrived and I was presented with a large dinner plate and a stern warning that the plate was very hot, it was. The food was plated nicely and the steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The vegetables were lightly steamed and the potatoes had a good texture. If you are driving through Pryor on US-69, this place is worthy of a stop. read more

I discovered this place through friends who raved about it. I have to admit, I am one tough customer. I teach customer service for a major company and have high expectations when it comes to how I expect to be treated. I have never had even a remotely bad customer service issue here. The staff is amazingly friendly and efficient.They don't know me from Adam...yet, the way they make me feel, you would think I had been a lifelong patron. Kudos to the owners, management, and staff. The environment is more than half of the experience of eating out. These guys have made it into an artform! I must admit I am a creature of food habits. If I find something I like, I order it every time I return to a restaurant. Rarely do I make much of a change in my order. I have a favorite place for shrimp, a different one for steaks, and another for chicken fried steak, and on and on. However, I look forward to trying everything on this menu. I have sampled most categories and have found that they have something tantalizing going on in every one of them. For a general menu type establishment, they do a great job with their pastas; something that usually suffers in a "diner" type of environment. If they take the care to make sure their pastas are on par with the "best" of the Italian eateries, then I can be pretty assured that care, style, and "something special" must go into the entire menu. I TRIED - House Salad (4/10) - Chicken Fried Steak (7/10) Hm. Only 4 other reviews huh? Well, I was working at a client's site nearby in that Mid America Industrial Park, and the client took me here. I can't tell if Mid America owns this restaurant too, or what, but, I guess it's no different than naming an airport after a nearby intersection (Palwaukee Airport) or a furniture store (Mil-Green). The place seems like just a towny restaurant. They've got steaks, fish, burgers, I think pasta, you know, something for everybody. I have heard that their fish was really good. I guess there's a river nearby, but where does the fish come from? Whatever... CHICKEN FRIED STEAK I missed breakfast that particular morning, so I was starving and wanted something hearty. Good ol' chicken fried steak. Doesn't get much more hearty than that! I ordered mine with mashed potatoes and gravy. The steak was huge! Took up almost 2/3 of the plate with a very generous serving of mashed potatoes, with both of them smothered in white country gravy. It was delicious, I must say. The crisp on the steak was beautiful! It was very nice and crunchy, the steak was pretty tender. I mean it was pretty thick, so it's not just a given that it's going to be tender. I had to swipe some gravy off the side, but all in all, a very satisfying and delicious meal! Flavors were very...hearty (there's that word again!), essence of butter all around, gravy was...hearty (lol!), and thick. Everything was seasoned just right too, not bland and not too salty. I could actually feel my belt tightening after this meal! HOUSE SALAD Very run of the mill. Could've been packaged stuff for all I know. Side of ranch, run of the mill too. Only thing different is that instead of croutons, you get this really thin piece of toasted homemade bread. It's like a normal piece of sliced bread you get at the store, scaled down 50%, and it's about as thin as a Ritz cracker. When I say "toasted," I mean like it's solid, like a bagel chip. It looked like it probably had some seasoning on it, but when you bite it, it just sorta tastes like burnt toast. Meh, whatever, the texture's nice though. MID-DLE OF THE LINE What can you expect? This is just your average local towny restaurant. I mean, don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal, but it's not like it was spectacular, and I'm going to make a trip for it or even tell all my friends about it.
