I suggest the apple moonshine cocktail.. it's like a sweet treat to go along with your meal. You also only need one to feel the buzz. I kept smelling chicken tenders and wanted to try them out. They were delicious! A side of Mumbo sauce pairs very well with the tenders. The catfish and grits really hit the spot as well. They were on special in December so hurry in if you want to try them. Our waitress Tess was also phenomenal. Top notch service and suggested the best things for us to try. It's not huge inside but there was ample seating and no wait to get our food. It's very light inside and cheery, so feel free to have a good laugh with friends here. I plan on stopping by next month to try even more of their fantastic menu!

As mentioned elsewhere, WCK occupies a restored historic movie house downtown. The incorporation of the structure's history and memorabilia is exceptional. A black and white classic movie play on the screen behind the kitchen; movie soundtrack tunes play in the background. They didn't miss a trick! Well, one or two, perhaps: placing a bowl of popcorn on the table when customers are seated would be clever and on-brand, as would dressing the wait staff in vintage usher uniforms. But I quibble. Our waitress, Kylie, was welcoming and knowledgeable. Her gushing recommendation of the zucchini fries was spot-on. The fried green tomato BLT was both excellent and a subtle nod to a well-known movie. Salads and OBX crabcake sandwich did not disappoint. All in all, two thumbs up!

It's very laid-back and chill, definitely not a huge party or club-type atmosphere. The drinks are reasonably priced, and they usually have some pretty good specials, like $2 beers and $7 mixed drinks, which is hard to complain about! They have pool tables, plenty of seating both inside and outside, and even a bar outside, so there's plenty of space to hang out. I haven't tried the food yet, so I can't really speak on that, but I'd definitely come back for the drinks and atmosphere. My only complaint is that I swear every night is karaoke night , but honestly, that's part of the charm! Overall, it's a fun, relaxed little local bar if you're looking for somewhere to grab a drink, play some pool, and hang out without the craziness of a big nightlife spot.

Of the ten patrons inside when we arrived, they all seemed to know each other. Thankfully, this didn't sway us one way or the other. We sat near the door, and I asked the bartender to turn on the game, which she did. Turns out the game wasn't on that channel, but I didn't want to disturb her conversation with the locals. Our waitress mentioned she was fairly new. She was attentive but kept forgetting things. I ordered the "must-have" Bessemer City Buzzard on a Stick, which is about half of a chicken breast seasoned and baked on a stick. The chicken wasn't as dry as I expected, but it also lacked flavor, and I had to pay $1 for sweet chili sauce to dip it in (3/5). The corn nuggets were nice and hot, and I enjoyed them (5/5). Note: I saw a couple of references to "redneck" while visiting, and I would characterize this place as a local redneck hangout.

Well... first, the customer service from our waitress could have been so much better. I liked that many people were here and had high hopes, but that went nowhere. I honestly don't like complaining, but it was interesting that we weren't even asked if we wanted any refills on our coffee, meanwhile everyone else around definitely had some refills. Our waitress hardly checked on us. We observed another young lady who was as sweet as can be (Samantha), and I actually asked her about the tea since I just wanted that because, truthfully, the coffee was basically mud water, and not in a good way. I also found myself having to ask our waitress how much longer for our food to come out because it seemed to take way too long for the food we ordered. I ended up leaving more than half my eggs and the city ham, but I definitely liked the pancakes; they were pretty good, and the norm of a grilled cheese sandwich was eatable. I will add I wasn't expecting a high-class breakfast, but what could've made things so much better would've been the attentiveness and customer service from our waitress. We won't be returning, to say the least; it's added into a list I have of "NEVER go." Wish it would've been a better experience.
