They have stand with electronics parts but everything is in the box so you have to buy everything. They have stand for hobbyist !!! The prices are great but always depent what do you want to buy. Don't go here. The most incompetent group of "tech people" I've ever met. They sold me a broken hard drive, then when I took it in to get things checked out, they charged me to tell me that the problem was the broken hard drive that they sold me... and they didn't waive the charge for checking. This is just one of many small but telling mistakes I won't go on about that I experienced with this place that wasted my time and money and drained my confidence in the human race just that much further. The short: if you require those odds and ends to finish or repair you PC, this is the place to be. Disclaimer: Be prepared for harassment. The sales staff work on commission and have all the tact of used car salesmen. When I went in to buy a PC, I was constantly made to feel as if I didn't know what I was talking about and that I needed a more powerful unit. The sales associated tried to run and "check the specs" of the unit I wanted in order to help (convince) me that I needed more of this and that (he needed a bigger commission). During parts of this, I was told that the unit was currently out of stock....only to be told they "found the last one in the store," when I said I wouldn't buy any other computer. read more

The store is super clean and organized. I do not need sales people as I build and repair computers and do all my own tech stuff. I came to MicroCenter after TigerDirect is going out of business. I had purchased all computer components and electronics from Tiger for 12 years. Walking into MicroCenter I was impressed with the volume of items in stock. "In the beginning i felt microcenter really cared about it's customers but after I sent some memory back to the store because it didn't fit my computer. They received it but refused to give my money back!! While also taking away my the amount I was charged for shipping and taxes.Which was a total of 42.10 and never received the money into my account. Nobody never call me back so for now on i understand that the only way of communication is through ways like this if anybody felt the same way i did about microcenter customer services let me know. What a rip off! My wife and I went there a few years ago to buy a computer for her mentally challenged brother. He can read a limited number of words but can navigate the computer using icons. We got a pretty nice computer for him. We were offered an extended at home warranty for 2 years. The sales person (wish I could remember their name) explained that a repair person would come to the house to do any needed repairs. We both thought this would be a good idea since we live a long distance away and he lives with his elderly mother with failing eyesight. We paid around $300 for this at home warranty. Shortly after we flew home he had a problem with his computer. When they called for a warranty repair they denied that he had gotten the in home warranty! On top of this, the brother could not find the paperwork. We basically paid an extra $300 and then were denied that warranty! My wife and I were very upset and went to the store the next time we visited. We got no satisfaction from the staff there. Total ripoff! Don't go there. read more

The customer service sucks here big time. The staff is very rude and ignorant. I was planning to buy a 55" TV so decided to check some tvs out here. I was well prepared with all the expert views and ratings about tvs, I knew what I wanted. So, when I walked in, I asked the guy some questions about the calibration and color gamut, HDR, Black Formity level, his face was total blank and he thought I am asking him some highly intellectual questions. He just said "IT'S ALL SAME." I was like, you work in this industry, you have to be up to date with the latest changes in the technology. Then I asked him a comparison question between LG and Samsung, again same answer "IT"S ALL SAME." The TV I was looking for, they only had one in a stock, and I have a sedan car so was not sure if 55" TV will fit in my car. So I just asked him to give me an empty box or if he can show me the TV then I can decide if I can carry it or have to come again with a bigger car. He could have called the professional people who helps people to load tvs in their car for the opinion, instead he said "IF YOU'RE REALLY GOING TO BUY IT ONLY THEN I WILL TAKE IT OUT. IT'S IN THE BACK AND I DON'T WANT TO SPEND 15 MINUTES LOOKING FOR THAT TV AND WHEN I BRING IT HERE, YOU SAY I DON'T LIKE IT AND I AM NOT INTERESTED." I mean seriously, I am a customer and can deny after looking at tv as well, for me $600 is not a small amount, for them it might be, but for me it's an investment for next 4-5 years, no one buys $600 tvs every year. They should understand. I have bought refurbished Macbook Pro from Micro Center, Fairfax, VA before and it's still up and running without any issues. That was the reason I wanted to give Micro Center another chance, but this St. Davis location is not worth visiting. The day I bought the TV from this Micro Center, it was too cold and windy outside, after we purchased the tv, NO ONE helped us to drop the tv at least to our car. My wife and my daughter has to stand outside in the cold windy until I opened the box and tried to adjust my tv in my sedan. They were looking at us but no one even came to give a hand, my 8 year old daughter has to help us. Worst customer service ever. I was hoping they'd price match a part I wanted on NewEgg. Most Microcenter stores do this at the manager's discretion. I would have been happy to pay the tax on the part. The manager said they'll price-match to NewEgg only if I also pay them NewEgg's next day shipping rate. This would have been $30 extra. I found their policy to be a little bit scammy, so I just ordered from NewEgg instead. read more

Purchased an ASUS smart tablet in December, and didn't purchase the additional physical liability. Of course, I dropped it 4 months later and cracked the screen. I went back to the Microcentet to discuss repair. The manager of the service counter literally pulled the laptop from my arms and then he and his team proceeded to tell me the entire top panel needed replaced. They estimated the work to be approximately $350. After disappearing to the back with my laptop for about 15 minutes, they came back and told me the repair would cost $800. And they charged me $42 for this process. I went to two smaller local technical repair shops. Both told me I only needed the touch screen component repaired not the entire panel. I fixed my laptop for $250 (not $800) and it's working fine!! Beware of extremely unprofessional and very socially awkward service staff who try to take financial advantage of you!!! read more

I recently brought a MacBook Pro from this location and wanted to make sure everything was up to date on laptop. They let hook up to their network connection and download all my updates (2-3GBs). That was pretty nice of them. While waiting in line, even the manager thanked me for being a customer. I can't remember that happening to me at Best Buy or Circuit City. They have ever possible computer part you ever need, don't bother going to any other computer store. read more

Ok - if you have seen the show "Chuck" you have a sense of this place - but there is NO Stanford drop out and NO Sarah-the-attractive-secret-agent. I would have given them a -100 rating on experience, 5 on final outcome. Computer crashed with a MS update blue-screening and I took it to MC for repair. They said no problem they would diagnose for $49 and give me an answer in 2 days. Well - i check in on day 2 and they give me the run around on whether it will be done and refuse to say whether they have time to look at it. After 4 more check ins they say the tech will call before he goes home as 9:00. At 8:47 he calls and says it is still running diagnostic but he will call me when it is done that night. I think "great" he is staying late and cares. I have already found out he is not working next day - well - you guessed it - no call back. Next day no one else can work on it. After complaining the a Supervisor I get them to agree to have another person work on it. I ask if the tech is scheduled to be in that day and they hesitate and THEN go check. ie. They were happy to tell me yes but DID NOT KNOW! Anyhow new tech works on it until about 5:00 pm and fixes it! Yea! Net - they were completely unresponsive on when i would get my computer and basically untruthfull until very end. Final tech was awesome and got it fixed without issue. If they had been on time and had been upfront with me i would have given them 5's all across. As it is I still feel i am being generous as they were a day late and not very helpful in communicating timing and issues and it was only done a day LATE cause I hounded them non stop. read more

Not sure how this would be for an average consumer that buys prebuilt machines, but I've been buying parts and building rigs from microcenter since before anyone had ever heard of Google. In the 2000's I did switch to online shopping from sites like Amazon, Newegg, and Tigerdirect. After the last time I bought something from Newegg, it was DOA and I had to pay for the return shipping, I decided I'd only ever buy parts from Microcenter going forward. That was about 10 years ago now and I've never looked back. The prices are the same or better than online retailers, the people that work here are nice, and the store is just really cool in my opinion. There aren't many brick and morter places like this anymore, the only one around that I can think of. I use Amazon for all my research, load up my cart on Microcenter, ship to my house, and if I have any issues its a 10 minute drive for me to return it. read more

I've purchase laptops in the past at this location and have always been bothered by the attitude of the guys working there. In 27 years supporting people in the IT industry, I would never have an attitude with a customer and talk with this type of subtle sarcasm. I took my year-old MacBook to the Apple store in Ardmore because it was having trouble booting. An employee opened it up, and within seconds said the entire laptop was shot, and I would need to buy a new one. He claimed water damage. As this was quite disheartening, I brought the laptop to Micro Center in St. Davids. Here, they opened up the laptop and actually took time to diagnose the issue. $100 later I had a working laptop. read more

I needed the WiFi adapter replaced in my laptop, which was within warranty. They told me they would order the part, & the entire thing would not only be free because of warranty, but done in a matter of 3 or 4 days. I was told to bring in proof of purchase and warranty at the time of pickup to avoid unnecessary costs. When my repair status on the website said complete, I called to make sure I could come in and get it - they hadn't even started repair without the proof of purchase. No one bothered calling or emailing me to ask for the paperwork - it's been ten days!! Totally unprofessional. Take your tech somewhere else for sure. read more

I've been a professional in the computer industry for well over 30 years. The first 5 or so I was a business consultant, and so it was absolutely critical to have several resources to support small local businesses. With the demise of Comp USA, this is the only major retailer left if you're looking for parts to build/replace in a PC. On many occasions I've made purchases of 10 plus full systems including routers, switch gear and printers etc.. A large percentage of purchases were made at the Micro Center Store in St Davis. If you're a computer tech, geek, nerd, enthusiast, over clocker, power gamer or a regular guy looking for computer parts at a good price this is DEFINITELY the store for you. The selection is amazing, the prices on core PC components are competitive with online retailers like New egg and Amazon and you can get what you need right away. I want nothing more than to give Micro-Center 5 stars because it's a geek paradise, but it's hard to do so. Given that, it should be paradise, right? Well, no. During the holidays my home was hit with a power surge. I lost three computer systems along with many other devices. Each I thought were protected with the top of the line surge boxes and voltage stabilizers. Due to a technicality the insurance will not cover this loss. Each year you will get a renewal of policy with your home owners insurance. Don't take for granted that nothing can change. There's always a possibility that mistakes can happen. And happen it did. And important addition was left out which would have normally covered this loss. Not to get side tracked but I needed to add this so others will note to always check your policy. Due to the cost of replacing the systems be quite expensive I made a decision to make several purchases within a six month period. I could either search the internet or buy directly from Micro Center. I found a system on Amazon and it's match at Micro Center. Amazon price for the ASUS M32AD M32AD-US021S original price was $849.00 and discounted to $572.94 with free shipping. The same system at Micro Center ASUS M32AD M32AD-US021S originally sold for $849.99 and discounted to $699.99. I went to Micro Center with all intent to purchase three systems but not all at the same time. This would be within a period of six months or less. These items would have included a sale of not only computers but also printers, security cameras and many other items. I asked if a price match was possible. His response was that Micro Center does not price match and has no price match policy. I did in fact purchase an Asus Computer on Jan 02, 2016 along with an external 4TB Hard Drive only because I needed the system right away. Your salesman did not want to discuss anything about price matching I believe because it would have effected his commission. If he would have looked at this in another way the commission would have been much larger. The over all sale would have been a total of three systems, two printers, 2 additional external hard drives plus misc items. Added to that an eight camera security system. To Management: I believe that price matching is up to the sole discretion of the manager. The whole purpose is to promote sales. Maybe I should have approached the manager instead of the salesman. I've noticed some changes happening throughout the years that I have shopped at Micro Center. Con: 1. There seems to be some kind of commission based system in place at Micro Center. many times that I have shopped someone is always attempting to place a sticker on a product that I was unsure that I was buying. 2. Sometimes Commission sales can hinder a larger sale due to not being able to price match with online venders (effects the amount of commission) Pro: 1. They carry a large amount of new items then in previous years. 2. As for the staff, they seem to be more seasoned or at least a bit more professional My closing statement What it comes down to is that no decent-sized computer store is perfect, but this place isn't too bad. I understand the one-star reviews written in frustration, but think about it if stores like this, which have to operate on razor-thin margins, close down, it will be online only. Do you really want that? What if you need it in the middle of a real problem and can't wait? That's the value of a local computer store - you can drive there and have what you need in your hands in less than an hour. Will I continue to make purchases at Micro Center? Small items would be yes but larger purchases will be dependent on the price. read more

I have shopped at Micro Center, St. David's, PA numerous times over the past 20 some years. Their inventory is impressive. Yesterday (3/31/18) I was looking for a small, light and cheap laptop to take on vacation and I saw that Micro Center had some pre-owned Apple MacBook Airs for sale. I drove to the store (which is 55 mi. away) and asked the salesman about them and he tried to talk me out of buying one because they are; 5 years old (I have 2 Macs that are 7 and 8 years old respectively and they still work fine), were used by school kids (a lot of things are "used by school kids") and show a lot of wear. He called them "boomerangs" (because they come back). But, even though he didn't want me to buy one he still tried to sell me an extended warranty (what difference does it make if you actually buy merchandise because you still gotta push those extended warranties). He brought one out and it looked good but he said I was not allowed to set it up (you can't check the battery condition otherwise). I asked him how I could check the battery and he shrugged his shoulders so I thanked him and walked away. Then I went to the PC laptop area and asked a salesman if they had something like a small Chromebook. He found a pre-owned one on the computer that would fit the bill with a price of $189.99. He said it was a good buy at $220.00. I pointed out the the price displayed was $189.99 and not $220.00 and he said that I needed the extended warranty. I said I didn't want the extended warranty and he wouldn't take no for an answer, so I walked out of the store. The sales staff was obviously instructed to push extended warranties at all costs and not to take no for an answer (everyone knows only dumb people "buy" those). I would recommend that everyone avoid Microbe Center at all costs and shop at the big box stores. Even though the sales staff at big box stores know nothing, at least they don't abuse you. I'm sending Microbe Center a bill for 110 mi. at the 54.5 cents per mile IRS rate. I won't bill for the wasted afternoon. The rating should be no stars but they do't have that option. read more

Service may be well-intentioned but is an experience that invites misery for the consumer. We bought a new HP laptop and service plan. Spent about $700 total. Four trips for service, most recent time, I waited nearly an hour. You think I exaggerate. One clerk for returns, one for service. Clerks go to the back of store frequently. Sometimes they return, somethimes not. While taking your item, some kind of extensive processing is done on their internal records. All the familiar-with-this customers in line are well aquainted with this. We should have all brought survival rations. Truly, only airport security lines compare - favorably. Later, on the phone, tech was rude. If you don't follow their routine, you don't get any service at all. Service manager had to get off phone with me because he had "a lot of computers to repair, and had to get back to the sales floor." They are supposed to be an authorized OEM service center, but told me I should call HP to find out how to access the backup security. The hard drive is failing. I've had enough experience with computers to know this. Another tech repair told us this. They insist it is not. Why? This was my 4th and last purchase from MicroCenter. They don't know how to run their service department, and I will never, ever visit there again. If there was a way to show negative stars, I would do it. read more

first, let me say this, if youre not a geek or gadget guy/girl you probably wont care for this place very much. its definitely not geared towards casual computer people but, if youre a total geek and gadget person this is definitely the place for you. they have a huge selection of pc parts and accessories as well as other electronic do-dads. the prices on most things are competitive. if youre into building pcs youll find they have a HUGE selection of pc components. probably the ONLY retail entity i know of its kind anywhere near here. the staff is extremely knowledgable but not always super friendly but ill take knowledge over friendly any day of the week. the one thing i dislike about this store though is the often long and slow checkout lines. seems like there are never more than two cashiers. it doesnt take away from my overall rating but i wish they'd staff the registers to accommodate the lines. read more

My experience at Microcenter was the worst tech service experience I've ever had. I was having a lot of problems with the machine, one of those problems being that it would only start every three or four tries. I was told it needed a new hard-drive and that would fix the symptoms I was having with the machine. While installing the new hard drive, they broke a fan which delayed getting my laptop back another week. After three weeks, I go to pick it up. However, when they put the machine in front of me to check out, I attempted to start it and it wouldn't start, and took three times until it would start. The tech attempted to tell me that it worked fine while they had it. I challenged a few miscellaneous charges they tried to collect, but they took the extra labor charges off to make me happy. After getting home with the machine, all the symptoms I brought the machine in for, were still there. In addition, I later found that the CD drive plate fell off and was physically broken, and the touch features on the laptop were no longer working. Most disgusting customer service and tech support experience I've ever had. I am telling everyone I know not go there fore computer repair. They are incompetent to say the least and take no responsibility for their mistakes. After three weeks of not having my computer, and being in the same position I was before I brought it in there, I furious at this inconvenience. read more
