Last week, I brought my MacBook Air in for a screen replacement. I scheduled a free consultation…read morethrough their website, and when I arrived, my name was already listed on their service screen as waitlisted. The wait was short, and the staff member who checked me in was incredibly kind and patient. I'll admit--I went in expecting the stereotypical grumpy tech experience, but that couldn't have been further from the truth. Even an older couple ahead of me was treated with care and patience as they asked questions about setting up their new device. It was genuinely impressive. After taking in my laptop, they let me know they'd need to order parts from Apple before proceeding. Since parts only ship on weekdays, they offered to keep me updated via my preferred method--text--which I really appreciated. Throughout the week, their communication was prompt and clear. I was notified as soon as the parts arrived and when new issues came up. That's how I learned that, in addition to my cracked screen, my battery also needed replacement. Via text, I was quoted around $426 for both repairs, which I agreed to, assuming it reflected the total cost for parts and labor. However, when I picked up my laptop yesterday, the final bill came out to over $800. The original ~$426 quote didn't seem to correspond to any of the line items on the receipt. Had I known the total would be nearly double, I likely wouldn't have moved forward with the repair. All that said, I truly appreciated the professionalism and attentiveness of the staff. I just wish the pricing had been more transparent and consistent. Here's hoping my now very expensive (and not-so-new) laptop lasts another 10 years to make it all feel worth it.

Outstanding Service from the Tech Support Dream Team I've…read morebeen a loyal Micro Center customer for over 25 years, and that's almost entirely thanks to Rob Brown in the Tech Support Department. Rob is simply the best--knowledgeable, patient, and reliable. He's been my go-to person for a quarter century, and there's a reason I keep coming back: he knows his stuff and genuinely cares about solving problems. Francis Cioffi, who was Rob's manager for many years, has also been incredibly helpful throughout the years. Both Rob and Francis have an encyclopedic knowledge of products and always take the time to find the right solution. This past Sunday really showcased what makes this team exceptional. I brought a friend in who was having issues with her two-month-old Acer Aspire. David Merritt was able to push through a replacement and arrange for the hard drive transfer. Francis made sure the hard drive got to tech support quickly so we wouldn't have to make multiple trips. Then Rob worked through the hard drive replacement and did extensive troubleshooting--nothing about this repair was straightforward, but he stuck with it until everything was working properly. The level of expertise, dedication, and customer care from Rob, Francis, and David is why the St. Davids Micro Center stands out. They don't just sell products--they build lasting relationships and truly support their customers. Highly recommend asking for any of these folks when you visit!

WOW! Is all I can say. The Voonder tech, Jon, did an in-home service on our two home computers,…read moregot all the "junk" out, updated our anti-virus software, made a host of improvements to our computer's performance, and when I complained to him about frustrating it is for us to need 4 remote controls to operate out TV/AV/DVD system, he made a suggestion for a universal remote. We purchased the remote, he got us hooked up with that and now even my mom can actually turn on and watch a movie at our house! Between the improvements he made to our computers and the simplicity of use for our TV operations, I have about and extra hour to my day! We will call Voonder first the next time we need technical help and will recommend them to anyone who asks!

After a half hour of being shoved, jostled, and nosed about, one of their techs motioned me to their desk. He ran a program, proclaimed it dead, and gave me a few numbers of places I could go to get the contents of my hard drive siphoned off for a ridiculous amount of money. I left the store discouraged, panicked, and frustrated. When I brought my computer to Voonder, they set me up with one of their guardian techs, Trevor. He spent an hour trying various programs to heal my hard drive. Throughout the process, he explained what he was doing, and what seemed to have happened to my computer. Though he eventually couldn't fix it, which wasn't helped by the fact that he couldn't open the case of my Apple since it was under warranty, I felt much better about the entire process because he took the time to talk me through the experience. I actually felt like I was the one in control of my computer's health, not some time-crunched, procedure saddled tech in a loud store. Trevor talked me through the options that I could use to get the information off my hard drive, get a working hard drive, and still keep my computer under warranty. I came away with a sense of ease, understanding, and purpose. Though I can't personally speak for their other services, I can say that Trevor very much helped turn a stressful experience into a much more peaceful one. And, as someone who's always been dazzled and confused by new technology, I'll definitely be calling Voonder the next time anything bleeps, ticks, or splats.
