Came into play pinball and ended up having a pretty good time here. The bartender was really nice we talked to him quite a bit but in typical SW Michigan fashion, he didn't know how to pour a cocktail. At least he knew how to pour a shot (some don't) but a whiskey and ginger ale was ordered, a whiskey coke was served. He even clarified it was ginger ale, not ginger beer, and then still poured coke. Don't let the reviews of this place fool you. It's a nice place with lots to do. The games provide a fun atmosphere and the beer is nice and cold. The service was efficient and thorough. The $5 cover fee is totally unnecessary, but I'm sure they do this to make money off of the vacationers. Overall I had a nice time here. read more

Great 5 star dive bar with friendly staff. Enjoy drinking in the old school atmosphere. Shoot some pool, watch a game, play arcade games or Keno and shoot the sh*t with the friendly locals. I totally dig that this Irish bar makes most dive bars I've visited in south west Michigan look classy. I dig that some of the regulars have circa 1980 windbreaker fashion. I find it hilarious that they have large cans of Ice House beer. I drank three. I like that someone's grandma was in the corner wearing 2lbs of makeup and 10lbs of costume jewelry and pounding Old Style. I love the cheaper-than-dirt drinks. I dig the no nonsense bartenders. I would strongly NOT recommend Mickey's Pub. My group of 8 people were treated very disrespectfully upon arrival. I was with some friends who were wanting to check out Mickey's while on a golf trip in the area and checking out the local bars. When we were trying to enter, the "bouncer" said we were going to owe $5 cover despite no live music. We later found out this was because they "charge cover to people who they think will start fights" and I am very disappointed by this. My group is a respectable collection of late-20s guys and I think this was stereotyping from a small town establishment. One of my friends looked inside and they place was borderline empty, so clearly this "cover" would not be worth it. For groups of mid 20s people, I would NOT recommend checking out this bar. read more

Only 2-3 bars stay open late here and Mickey is one of them. Always crowded and fun. Drinks are affordable and not water down

If I could give 0 stars I would. This isn't the first time they have added someone else's drink on my tab and MADE ME PAY FOR IT. Yelling at me telling me I have to pay for it or else. The service is horrible. The bartender Amanda isn't friendly at all and is very mean. She gives out rude comments and barely gives you the right drink. On slow nights she will be outside 90% of the time smoking. I've watched her only give me one shot when I've asked for double and charge me for double. IF YOU WANT YOUR DRINKS DRUGGED go here. All the locals do is sell and do coke here. The music sucks. Bunch of unhappy depressed atmosphere. The owner doesn't even have the money to fix the over hang vent to serve food. The workers drink on the job. They charge a fee at the door. For no live music. You have to pay for music. Why should I pay for door entry when I also have to pay for music. This is the worst dive bar ever and I don't suggest going here. If the owner actually had any brains, he would do something with this place. They don't even have the music turned up enough to enjoy because of the upstairs tenants. This place is a overpriced joke. If you want your stuff stolen. And love paying for horrible overpriced drinks, and rude, annoying, depressing attitudes. With the chance of getting your drink drugged go here. While driving down Main St. coming back from the beach in St. Joseph, MI, I saw a sign for Mickey's Pub and on the side said "$1.25 drafts, $2.25 well drinks" during Happy Hour, which lasts from 11AM TO 6PM!!! You can get pretty happy in St. Joseph's pretty early on in the day. After 6pm, they sell the hugeass 24oz cans of Miller Lite for $2 as compared to $7 at Union Station. But, it is St. J's, not Chicago. And, the friendly bartender gives you a frosty mug to accompany. Mickey's is Michigan as I remember from years back, i.e., full of roadside bars and eateries. Mickey's is pretty dark inside. It has 3 pool tables, dart boards, a few TVs and cheap drinks. You know the thin "outdoor carpet" that people put on their screened-in porches? That is the floor of Mickey's, and it makes the place smell musty like it has had its fair share of spillage and cigarette butt action over the years. But, 11AM TO 6PM HAPPY HOUR? Borat would say, "Very Nice!!! How much?" $1.25 for an ice cold beer! read more

Absolute terrible establishment. Waited 45 minutes outside to get in but were told they were "at capacity". Dozens of people walk out and they let in people who got to the place after us because they were "locals". The old fat lard outside in the Justin fields shirt wasnt even on the clock but the guy is such a loser he had to act like he ran the place. Management came out and we're very rude and told us to get out. DO NOT come to this Shitty place because they act like they're running a day club in Las Vegas. Terrible business read more

First time visitors and totally impressed. The bartender, a young woman, greeted us and served us our beverages. Then, she went and played some great music on the jukebox. She surprised us as it was music from the 70's and 80's, our younger years. The place is spotless and organized. Numerous arcade games and two pool tables to keep you occupied. A well stocked bar, with quite a variety of liquors, beers, wine coolers etc. They have a limited food menu today, but have plans to expand it as they get fully re-opened after COVID constraints. Mickeys has a good atmosphere and good food but staff especially a man bartender was very rude to me. I was going up to pay my drink tab. Tipsy but not drunk. Waited in line patiently as possible and when it got to my turn he looks at me and says "I'm sorry security told me I'm not allowed to serve you anymore...." And turns to the man next to me and gets his order. Let me preface this by saying I sat next to my friend the entire time on my phone. Was not making any sort of scene. That's not the point thought the point is that the man wouldn't even let me talk or say anything. Just assumed I wanted another drink. Not a fan of this place . Food seems like its out of a box or bag . Out side looks dirty and the inside is the same and dark. Full of 20 something's . Even as a neiborhood bar it's not all that . A pub is a pub is a pub... unless you're at Mickey's. In which case, you're probably making plenty of friends, drinking lots of cheap beer and perhaps shooting a couple games of pool with your friends or a few of the regulars. When checking my ID at the door, folks were friendly when they found out I was up for the weekend from Chicago. In fact, people were pretty friendly all around. Sure it's a pub--it's dark, it's musty, it's a bit rough around the edges and perhaps worse for wear, but it's got heart. A pub by another name would a pub be called, but in a world of pubs, Mickey's is unto itself. read more

It ain't fancy but it was fun! This is a 5-star dive bar all day long! When you imagine a dive bar, or you see the stereotypical hole in the wall bars in movies, you'll have a good idea of what Mickys is like. I didn't see a sign for the bar right away- what told me I arrived was the humongous bud light tarp strung out over the side of the building. Walking in, we immediately noticed we were the only women in the bar and were greeted with "you guys here for a wedding"? I took that to be a complement that we looked classy. And we probably looked real classy when we took the forth $1 cherry Jell-O shot and were putting in the dirtiest song we knew into the jukebox. The guys all high-fived our song choices, which made us feel like we made it into the inner circle of regulars. Speaking of being treated like a regular, the vodka red bulls we ordered- well, the vodka and ice cubes with a splash of red bull on top- were the type of drinks reserved for long time regulars who have earned the right to get that much extra liquor for free. We happened upon a night where they had a rage against the machine cover band. Although I was in no shape to dance by the time they went on (see the drink pours above) the live music was good and the crowd had a good vibe. read more

Mickeys pub is bad news. Not a good atmosphere not a good crowd. The bartenders are incompetent and unprofessional, and the place looks unsanitary. They drink on the job and and most likely serve underage. Cops show up to call shut the place down pretty much every night. read more

I know lots of people that hate this place, but in summer time its nice if you don't want to be packed in like sardines like all the other bars in town. They have about 6 pool tables so it is a nice place to have some drinks and play pool with out a crowd. read more

Used to go here all the time in summer when back from college. Place is a total dive but either you love that or hate it. Best ever was one night coming in after I believe Venetioan and it had been raining so had taken off our shirts for the walk. We walk in and one of the burley old waitresses yells out" You guys twenty one?" we answer yes even if we all werent. The she says" well then put on your damn shirts!" I now live in the Chicago suburbs but every once in a while I'll head to my hometown, the place I grew up at, St. Joseph,Michigan. While there, I'll hit a true Michigan bar, nice and musty with dark lighting, pool tables, and cheap beer prices. Yeah, I'm talking about the St. Joe institution that is Mickey's. I'll get my $2.75 tall PBR and sit in front of the jukebox near the front door entrance. I'll play some Bob Seger and Nugent, two Michigan boys, and think about the good old days while drinking my brew. God I love the state of Michigan and I love Mickey's Pub. It makes you feel like you walked into the seventies. I just wish they'd bring back the old Silver Dollar bar. I think it's own by the same guy and it's also in the Joe. Long live Mickey's. I think I'll go back in a couple of weeks. read more

Where do I begin... February 25th Mickey's pub posted on Facebook in the event page that Trapt was going to be playing on Thursday May 11, 2017. I contacted them asking if they would be on sale online and they guy said they would be online and at the venue. I asked where I could purchase them online and he never gave me an answer and said he was in a bad motorcycle accident and they wouldn't be on sale till the following Monday. I called the following Monday to make sure they were on sale and they said they'd be on sale on March 8th. I called on March 8th to see if they were on sale and they moved the date to March 13th. Yet they were still NOT on sale. March 14th they posted on the Facebook event page they were on sale so I called again to make sure they were and the guy confirmed it. I drove out to Mickey's Pub and purchased 2 tickets. Online it said $15 a ticket in advance. When the guy told me they were $18 a piece I told him online it says $15 each. They went and changed the price online to $15 each with a $3 door fee. The guy took my name and phone number down and wrote that I purchased 2 tickets. Today I got a Facebook notification saying the concert was this Thursday. I went to the page and noticed someone posted that the show would not be happening. It was posted on the 5th. I never got a call saying it had been canceled. I called Mickey's pub and the lady on the phone confirmed the show has been canceled. She asked me how many tickets I purchased and she said well I can give you $20 towards drinks on Thursday night but you have to come Thursday night to get it. I asked how that was fair that I spent $36 on tickets for the show and she's only giving me $20 back. I told her I wanted a full refund and she said $20 was the best she could do. I am beyond pissed. I would not recommend this place to anyone! read more
