Went to this location to get some speakers installed at 8:55am. I waited in the lobby and at 12pm I went up to the counter to check on the status of my truck. The worker had a bad attitude and told me to take my truck and leave because he was backed up: I said that's fine just give me my money back. The worker said I don't have any cash. I said well I ain't leaving until you give me my money back. The guy called the police on me a paying customer. I don't recommend this location it has racism all over it. Today I was the second person in line at this location at 8:50am before they opened. At 9am they opened doors and I was the second person to be seen and told it would be 2-3 hours before the car was ready. I went to have breakfast and walk around trying to pass the time and called to check on everything at 11:50am because I did not hear back. No answer. I called a second time. No answer. I walked a few blocks over from where I was having breakfast and arrived at noon. I was told that my car was second to go in. I said "do you mean it has not even gone back to have the remote starter that I bought installed yet?" The same person, a blond haired gentleman who opened the store this morning when I arrived said "yes". I asked how could that be seeing I was the second person here this morning?" He said " I don't know, I have all these cars and guys that just come up and grab these clip boards and they must have grabbed the wrong one." I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I kept my calm and said " I can't wait another 2 or 4 hours" I bought this for my daughters Christmas present and I have an appointment at 2pm". I asked to speak to the manager. The same person said I am the manager. I told him I was here when he opened the store this morning and I don't understand how this could happen. I asked if I can get a refund because I do not want my daughters going through this for something that was supposed to be a gift. Do not go here. From my experience they sell you items but lack professionalism in handling your installation. You cannot wait in the store and if there's a mix up like the one I had happen to me then you have to come back and get the items installed on another day or wait another 2-4 hours for your car to be worked on. To make matters worst I purchase 2 remote starters at the Royal oak location on Black Friday (one for each of my daughters cars) and I was told in order to get a refund I would need to go back to Royal Oak. Total sales malarkey. Remote start on sale for $99 (+extra for parts depending on car) was really over $200. Installed and now hazard lights come on every time it starts. Told me it was because it is a Chrysler vehicle. All Chrysler vehicles are like that. Car scratched (they said it was old and rusted scratch (no rust- it's a brand new scratch) I left it because I can't prove they did it. They Also said radio was busted. (No- there is a blue tooth hooked to the cigarette lighter to listen to iTunes.) Hmmm. And you instal radios for a living and couldn't figure that out???? Go somewhere else not Mickey Shorr I just got my car from the shop after getting remote starter on the day that has below 20 degrees (-20F). I almost died because the heat didn't work all the way i was driving back home....30 mins. Due to unprofessional workers at Canton location. They cut off my heat. First, I thought the heat maybe slowly came out because the weather was too cold. unfortunately, it never came out. My hand started freezing and hurt , my mouth was frozen i was gonna call 911 for help but I didn't. In my mind, I tried to get home before i got hypothermia. Not sure why there are negative reviews about these guys... I have had 3 radar detectors installed in 3 different vehicles and a front camera installed- all aftermarket items not purchased at Mickey Shorr. Every experience has been terrific. They clearly told me what they could/could not do. They completed work ultra professionally- looks like work was done at factory. They communicated to me when work was completed. They were friendly and compassionate. When I took my new truck into the dealer for a recall, the dealer cut the radar detector wire. Came back to Shorrs to have it reinstalled fully expecting to pay for work- nope- they re-did wire for no charge. I'm a 58 year old guy who likes nice stuff, and I like professional installs on our vehicles to look like it was factory installed. Have had nothing but great service from these guys at very fair price. I'll be back for sure. read more

Very unprofessional facility!!! Had a warranty item fail for the second time. First one smoke came out of dash and they replaced the defective part. The dash panel was left loose and the steering column apart in pieces. Second time the same part failed they wanted to charge a $49.00 fee to determine cause and had no record of the work done less than a month ago. After some words exchanged as to my disappointment and a finger salute, my daughter and I exited the facility. The store manager then came out of the garage bay and threatened me as I was walking to my truck and my daughter was walking past the now 4 men wanting to start a physical confrontation with me. The manager went back in the building when I started to walk his direction. I then went to the front door of the store and opened the door and stated how very unprofessional that reaction was and in front of my daughter. The manager came out of his office and cursed me some more and the other staff said just leave. I left and the whole store staff came out of the front of the store and were yelling and screaming at me in my truck and my daughter in her truck as we waited to turn onto Ford rd. This store is ran like a gang of thugs. NEVER WILL I RETURN TO A MICKEY SHORR FOR ANY WORK TO BE DONE. I will do my best to inform all vendors of the caliber of professionalism of the MICKEY SHORR location as to how they are representing their products. Bought a Viper remote starter from them last Friday since it was 3pm was advised to bring back this Thursday at 9am when they open. Got here at 10am, now its 4pm still waiting on vehicle to be brought in for install. Manager, Joey seems nice. There is this Vietnamese dude been sitting here since 9am. He brought his car back to get something fixed they installed before. And as of this writing he too is still here. When I arrived at 10am, was told there are 9 cars ahead of me. I was told 9 cars were ahead of me also at 3pm last Friday. Funny, they seem to love #9. I give them this, its 3 days before Christmas. If you know you going to be this busy, shouldn't your job be as a manager to schedule more employees in to get the jobs done faster? So far all they get from me is a two star. They have not done anything to deserve a five star. Lets see if and when they do install the remote, how long it works worry free before my next visit. I've been to this location a couple times over the years. A LONG time ago, a wind storm blew a wire down on my car, which shorted the stereo through the antenna. Being young and broke at the time, I was nervous walking into a place with a wall of pricy components, but the salesman was nice and didn't try to talk me into something more than I could afford. The car was done fairly quickly (half a day) and the stereo was awesome, until I sold the car some years later. I've been in there a few times recently to price both a remote starter and backup camera for my vehicle. Sean, the salesperson who helped me got me quick quotes and gave me a card with the price. When I returned to have the camera installed, they were great! I forgot my card, and they were able to honor the price anyway, which was excellent customer service. We got there on a busy Saturday morning, and after waiting in line for a few moments, Andrew helped us, apologizing for the minor wait. He had us written up and out the door quickly. The job took a while, as he had warned us it might. We picked up the vehicle in the early afternoon and they did a great job! The camera works beautifully, and was calibrated perfectly for hitching to a camper, or avoiding things we can't see. They placed the screen in a great spot, that is both convenient and non-obtrusive, and gave us the ability to shift it if we decide it's not ideal. read more

Where to start. I bought a car with a radio installed by these clowns. Seller said that the radio never worked correctly afterwards, but everything was fine beforehand. When she went up to have it checked out they gave her the runaround and blamed it on the car. They said there was nothing they could do for her. So I bring it up to see what's going on. The problems are as listed: No radio reception Only a few speakers work, and the couple that do sound awful Backup camera(factory) is so distorted and full of static it's barely visible Bluetooth quality inconsistent and constantly disconnecting Anti-theft light always on After they look at it they say there must be a problem with the radio. Since I was barely out of warranty all they could do was give me a discount on a new radio. Grrrr. Technically were right so I bought a new radio. 6hrs later they finish up and I get my keys. Get in the car and nothing is fixed, all the same problems are still there. So I go back in to see what the deal is. They say they have done all that they can do for me and if I wantned them to look at it again they would have to charge me a diagnostic fee. They again blamed it on the car, again. I walk out pissed and go to my car only to notice that some of my tools are missing. Also a bunch of screws, tabs, and connectors(all dealer only AND EXPENSIVE) are gone. So I go back in and tell them I want my tools and hardware back. They tell me that his guys would never do that but he would check. Well well well, he comes back up with my very specific special tools. I ask about my hardware and he says they can't find it, installer(same one that stole my tools) said he didn't see anything. COME ON. I leave. I decide to put the factory radio back in myself. I get the box the seller said the radio was in and all I find is the control box, no faceplate. I call the seller and ask about it. She says that's all they gave her, just the box no faceplate. Great. Frustrated at this point I take it to another stereo shop and have them look it over. Oh boy. Here is a list of what they found: Aftermarket powered antenna installed incorrectly(they plugged in a regular antenna and it worked fine) Pins on factory harness are mangled to the point where it isn't salvageable(incorect adapter harness shoved in) Backup camera wiring spliced with multiple extensions All harness wiring just twisted together(including the backup camera) some with electrical tape some without Speaker wires not hooked up correctly, they were barely attached(mounting and wiring) . I forgot to mention they also installed speakers. So now I'm out hundreds of dollars. Lot's of my time waiting. Days without my car because they have to do so much rewiring and checking for shorts. All this could have been avoided with a correct installation, or at the least a miniscule amount of effort trying to troubleshoot the problems. I saw the hack job. It's sad really, I installed my first radio at 16 with no experience. The works. Radio, equalizer, CD changer, amp, subwoffer, and eventually a capacitor because my lights would dim when the bass hit. My work looked like a DaVinci compared to the sorry dumpster fire that this place managed to cobble together. Needless to say I will not be going back to this establishment ever again. read more

I went to pay for it today and he said it would be $220. I just can't stand the bait and switch. I will give my money to another company that's more straight forward with their pricing. I had them do my iPod integration for honda accord and my "2 hour" install time turned to 3.5 hours! On top of that they couldn't get the original unit I bought to work so they downgraded to another one and still charged me the same price. They also completely screwed up my middle storage unit. When I try to close the door either it wont close or if it does close it won't open. It has been roughly 6 months since I had it done and now the cord is starting to short and all I can do now is go back in and pay full price for them to reinstall a new one. read more

STAY AWAY!! Alex and other managers are scam artists!! I went there needing a speaker baffle to upgrade speakers in my 07 cobalt. Was sold the wrong size. Three days later went to return the item at 2:09 pm in the afternoon and was told that they could not do the refund because they did not have cash in the register and that I would have to come back at a later time once somebody had made a transaction. Absolutely unprofessional not only did they sell me the wrong part but then told me they did not have money in the register to refund me $10.29. Absolutely unprofessional!! I will never go back there again and can't believe what they pulled. It's $10 if I was the manager I would've pulled $10 out of my pocket and made sure the customer was taken care of. The fact that they had been open all day and had no customers should say enough on its own. Alex the manager told me to come back later to get the refund and He might have the money, ha ha yeah right I won't be going back there ever. Just wanted a new radio in my truck, that's it. That took them a full day! ...and another day, and another...4 days total. Yes, I had to go back 3 more times after the initial install, because they couldn't get it right, 2 full days and 2 half days. Problems with the fade, sound and microphone were blamed on my vehicle and its CAN module, but to me it seemed that these guys kept making excuses in hopes that I would just go away. They are not professional and seem to just learn about sound systems on the fly. "Hmmm, that's strange....I haven't seen that before" was a common phrase there. Also my truck smelled like cigarettes when I picked it up, the shifter was installed wrong, twice, and I hear unusual rattle noises from under the dash. Some wires are routed under the steering column, but not tidy at all....just dangling there. Stay away from this place, at least that's my suggestion. read more

Terrible customer service once equipment was installed. I was lied to by the store manager Joey about install and operations of equipment. Not once did anyone give me a demonstration of the equipment I was talked into buying . 4 times going back before they finally took a 5 hour time block to find out they installed defective equipment ( or so I was told) After talking to two people from corporate I was guaranteed to be taken care of. I was told all the parts for repair would be in and I would hear from the regional manager in a couple days. 9 days later I am still waiting to hear back from the regional manager ..... Store is dirty and looks like a dump. Staff said programming my second key for my remote start would only take "a couple minutes" - it took over an hour. Staff were indifferent and looked like they would rather be anywhere else. Felt like I needed to wash my hands after sitting I the waiting room. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Last year after having issues with my remote start i stopped by another location where they tried to tell me I had to buy a whole new starter that would cost me $200 plus. Needless to say I passed later that day I stopped by the canton location just to see if they would tell me the same, to my surprise they said it would be no problem to fix my existing starter all it needed was to be reprogrammed and updated (under $50). Fast forward to today where I had similar issues with my remote start so I took it back to them where I was pleasantly surprised to hear that they would fix it free of charge since I was there less than a year ago. I have been going to Mickey Shorr since the '70's and this visit lived up to the high standards I have come to expect from this franchise. This was my 2nd visit to this store in Canton. The customer service was exceptional. I went in to get a way to hook up my iPhone to my car stereo. The sales person was cordial and helpful. He took time to understand what I was looking for and was able to find exactly what I wanted and for a very reasonable price. Installation was done in a matter of hours and upon pickup they took the time to show me all the features of the new system and make sure I knew how to use all the features until I was comfortable with it. When I went in to get a remote starter the sales people were very nice but after having to take my car back twice within the first few weeks I soon realized that most of the staff were just inexperienced young people. The third time I had to send my car in because the remote starter wouldn't start my car they were like we don't give refunds. My husband put me on the phone and I told them the options they were giving me were not acceptable since what I bought was a starter that doesn't start and that I don't care what their policy is the bottom line was they had either installed the remote incorrectly three times and I was no longer willing to have them work on my car so the young staff said the manager would be in soon so my husband stayed to talk with him but he never came to the front after arriving and sent the kids out to say the very thing they had just stated. My husband was starting to get upset because he was under the impression that the manager would atleast come out and talk to him directly. I told him to just leave and I'd dispute the charges on my credit card which I did and ended up very satisfied with the results but I would never go to that Mickey Shorr again. The only reason I gave them a shot was because they were closer to my home then the store near Sterling Heights which has done several vehicles of people my husband and I know without any complaints. I am very upset do not go to this Mickey Shorr ...I took my car there to get a remote starter and alarm and to have my kicker box and amp hooked up, they had me pay I was there at 9:30 at 12:50 my car had still not go pulled in and I walked up to the front no one appolgized about it and said they were going to be 3 hours before they could pull my car back, then they tell me to come back in the morning which I did I got there at 9:08am and they didn't finish my car until 4:10pm!! Pissed off I leave with my car and when I get to my location and do the unlock and lock they didn't even work, Then I push the remote starter and my engine light comes on! Manager never one appolgized about anything very unprofessional and I wouldn't recommed this business to anyone. I sat in that waiting room the whole time and not once did anyone come up to me ask tell me why it was taking so long and oh I forgot my kicker box they tryied to say one of the speaker was blown, It was fine when I brought it to you I ended up calling the district manager and he called and nothing was wrong with my kicker box the wire just came undone, how unprofessional if they don't know what there doing they shouldnt mess with peoples cars seriously upset customer. read more

This store has the WORST customer service I have ever seen. I took my car to get a remote starter installed. I arrived at 10am and was assured several times they provide same day service. What they don't tell you is that service can take anywhere from 4-12 hours. At 6pm my car still had at least 2 hours worth of work to be done. After spending the previous 7 hours waiting I was done waiting. I demanded my money back and my car. It took another 30 minutes for that to happen all while the ineffectual and incompetent manager kept saying they will stay as late as needed to get it done. While talking with him I found out my car didn't even go to the back to get started on till 5pm. I called around 1:30pm to check the status and was told I would be ready by 5:30pm when they close. If I had known then the work hadn't even been started I would have left then. There was another guy who came just after I did who was still waiting when I finally got both my money as car.
