Our Kitchen sink got back up on Friday. Called a couple companies, only MPR was open to make appointment on Saturday and also no extra charge during weekend. I was told that they will come between 4 pm and 7 PM. Got call around 2:30 PM that Charles would come within 30 minutes. Charles came on time and he is very nice and professional. He told me that this is a fixed price for our job, which is very reasonable price. The job was done within 30 minutes. After job was done Charles did a thorough testing and also check basement to make sure there was no leaking.Charles also told me how to maintain the kitchen pipe to avoid back up. We are very happy with the service we received and will certainly call Michigan Power Rodding for any plumbing issues in the future! read more

called in the morning for a clogged bathroom sink. The technician was at my house within an hour and rectified the issue within 30 minutes. Everyone I spoke with was kind and respectful. I paid less than I expected which was also pleasantly surprising. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company or use them again. read more

first, despite our name, we're real people. We had a blockage in our kitchen sink yesterday evening in Ypsilanti. I pulled off the trap and saw it was clear, meaning the problem was farther down. So... time for the professionals.. Called our usual plumber who suggested contacting MPR. Told the dispatcher, and she scheduled a visit Fri afternoon. Don't recall his name... but he got here, did a quality job with a _loooooong_ snake, put everything back. Professional and top notch. oh, competitive pricing, too ($250), Yeah, you can probably find someone cheaper but that's always a significant risk. read more

I called my standby plumbers (Olde Towne Plumbing Ypsilanti) they were really busy today and recommended Michigan Power Rodding. I am very thankful for their recommendation. I called, she was very polite (apologies her name escapes me). We scheduled a visit, same day between 12-3. About 12 I had a knock on the door and it was Mark from MPR. Mark came in assessed the situation, quoted a price and got to work. He also took extra care in our crowded basement. Mark had to do some extra work to fix the issue and somewhat unexpectedly he stuck with the quoted price. When the drain was flowing nicely, he cleaned up the areas and prepared the bill. I feel the price was very reasonable and the service exceptional. Thank you Michigan Power Rodding and Olde Towne Plumbing for your outstanding care and quality of service. Hopefully you won't hear from me for a long time. Mike read more

Had Justin come to the house to rod the deep seated clog that was surely my husband's fault (he disagrees). He was knowledgeable, efficient, tidy, professional and personable. Word on the street is that the owners are pretty awesome. Definitely recommend. read more

I called Michigan Power Rodding for a plumbing emergency in the late afternoon. I was able to get an appointment the next morning. The plumber cleaned the drainage clog quickly and checked the sump pump and garbage disposal. It turned out they were not working properly. He replaced them right away and did a great job. Highly recommend this company. read more

I had used them in the past, and had been very satisfied. I needed to have a kitchen double sink unclogged, and they were able to schedule a same day service call. Edwin was very prompt and did a very thorough job, checking for possible leaks in the basement as well as laundry room, and answered all my questions. read more

I called the day I had a plumbing issue and I was able to get service the day of. I have a medical health issue Celiacs and the two gentlemen were so kind, nice and respectful even after such a nasty mess because of my Celiacs. I was not uncomfortable nor did I feel embarrassed at all. I highly recommend this company. I even got a follow up call to see how the toilet was working a few days after! read more

My main sewer line backed up on Sunday. When I managed a business in an old building in Ann Arbor, Hutzel was my go to for plumbing issues. Twice they referred me to MPR for clogged main lines and the situation was handled promptly and efficiently. Consequently I called MPR on Monday morning. They were there later that morning. Chris, the technician was friendly, knowledgeable and very efficient in getting the problem corrected. It was genuinely a very great experience. I must say that I am not a price-sensitive person, I don't mind paying a premium for prompt and expert service. That said, MPR uses a flat-rate system for problem solving, nice that it is up-front and predictable. Also I checked the charge for the last similar service that they performed at my business 13 years ago and it was MORE than I was charged on Monday. This appears to be a company that just does a decent job for a reasonable price. I highly recommend them! read more

I would give them a 10 if I could. We have an old house with challenging inside and outside drains. In the past 4 years, we've called them 3 times, twice for indoor blockages and once for an outdoor driveway drain. Every single contact with MPR was above expectations from the person who answered the phone to the staff who responded at awkward times and icy cold weather. They've been responsive, empathic, and have always done exactly what they promised in the time that they promised. Full price transparency, no upchaeging, careful cleanup. Only drain service we'll ever call. read more

Highly recommend Michigan Power Rodding. I found MPR via Google as I was trying to figure out how to diagnose a drain issue in my basement that several other plumbing companies came to look at and said I would need to "dig to diagnose, then pay to repair." These plumbers used cameras, but couldn't view one on of the problem areas. Scott and another gentleman came to my house on 2/9/2023, the same day that I called MPR and they were able to use their cameras to investigate and diagnose my storm line issue that had been going on for years (unexplained) that other plumbing companies couldn't access with their cameras. The video report that MPR provided was exceptionally detailed and I was able to share it with my homeowner's insurance who actually paid for the repair because of how informative the report was. MPR's work saved a massive amount of digging in my basement floor because the problem area was accurately pinpointed so a plumbing company (they suggested when I asked for a referral), could fix the issue. Their referral was excellent. I have already shared MPR's information with several neighbors who are having similar drainage issues in our aging neighborhood. Thank you so much MPR for your invaluable service! read more

I want to update this review and reflect that MPR has resolved my issue to my satisfaction. I appreciate the company stepping up and doing the right thing. Thanks to Gregg Greene for doing the right thing. As of this posting, MPR still has not and will not reimburse me $1,000 that I paid to REMOVE their EQUIPMENT from MY property. This company is horribly irresponsible. So disappointed. To respond to the owner's post, I ask, what have you done since MAY 23rd to resolve this issue? It has not been 12 days, its been almost a month that MPR and Gregg Greene have continuously denied responsibility for their poor workmanship. One would surmise that with MPR's experience since 1995, and their technician's 17 year experience, they would have had me sign something that clarified my responsibility if they screw up and get their equipment stuck on my personal property. I signed nothing. The 17 year experienced technician gave me no warning of the "unknown" or the "unforeseen type of pipe" that could perhaps get their snake stuck which would then be my problem and expense. I have never done business with a company that lays the cost and blame on the customer when they screw up. The bottom line is, if you choose to do business with MPR, their cost of doing business will become yours, be forewarned. read more

Michigan Power Rodding lives up to their name and more! We had a clog... a non-sanity threatening clog, but an annoying one, nonetheless. We were fortunate in that if we waited long enough, there was plenty of pipe available. Unfortunately, if we filled it, we'd have to wait. After a few days of trying to clear it ourselves, it was time to call the pros. Around 8pm, I called another Well-Known National Chain and was told by a dispatcher someone would call me back. A half-hour later, I received a call, and the fellow on the other end really wasn't interested in coming out that night. He kept trying to convince me to wait until morning, when it would be cheaper by $50. I took it as a sign. I called Michigan Power Rodding. First: the person who answered the phone actually works there and can tell you when or if someone will come, and what it might cost. Second, and most important to me: they were open until 10pm, so I was still within non-emergency hours! I didn't have to wait until morning, and their pricing was already lower anyway. The fellow who showed up worked diligently and quickly, and explained what happened - he did have to go back to pick something up to continue his work given how deep the clog was - but otherwise he would have been done within the hour. They respect the cleanliness of your home, and clean up after themselves. They present how much it will cost before doing the work, and make recommendations as to what you might want to do later on. They called a few days later to follow up that we were happy with the work, and I set up an appointment to have our sewer pipe examined and foamed. We wanted to see if it was made of Orangeburg, and we wanted to make use of the foaming treatment to encourage the roots that had caused our original clog to find somewhere else to get their nutrients. The guy who came was affable and explained everything he'd be doing, and also that we'd probably want to make a decision about foaming the pipe based on what we saw. He explained everything up front, including costs. I'm really happy with the work they did. They've got great people on staff! read more

I had a problem with my toilet backing up, and I called Michigan Power Rodding. They came out the same day and cleared the issue. Or so we all thought. About 10 days later I had a similar issue, and it was determined that I needed to have my septic tanks cleaned out. When the septic tank people came, it was clear that the piping to the septic tank was still blocked. I called Michigan Power Rodding back, and they sent someone out the same day to fix the problem again. Steve made a point of approaching the problem from multiple directions and verified the success. There was no charge for this additional service as they stand behind their work. The people are knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly trustworthy. Family owned. read more

Argh, water backs up in the basement on thanksgiving weekend. MPR was out in 2 hours and fees comparable to regular hours. Sadly, water came up again the next day, they were back in 2 hours again and Charles quickly took care of the issue for good, no additional charge. Courteous and quick. Will use again. read more

Had my floor drain back up on Sunday. Michigan Power Rodding called me back promptly unlike many of the companies who didn't answer. Justin was on time on Monday pleasant, professional and dog friendly! Each time I have used them their technicians have been totally professional. Because the problem was found to possibly be caused by roots in the main drain, the drain clean out was free of charge! I have signed up for their root treatment service and am on a 2 year plan now for root treatment and I am very happy with their service and the fact that they stand behind their work, no questions asked! read more

I called them in the morning about a clogged toilet and they gave me a 2-hour service window for later that afternoon. As we got into the 2-hour window, they called to update me on the arrival time and then Ryan called as he was leaving the previous job. Before Ryan started the work, he told me the price ($170) for the job. He cleaned up after himself. They take credit cards. read more

Amazing service and the tech was knowledgeable and helpful. Reasonable prices and quick to come out.

Michigan Power Rodding came out to clear a clog in my drain when another company failed to do so. They had the right equipment for the job and fixed my problem in no time. The price was also very fair and I was happy with the timely fix. read more

Don't believe those good reviews because I am a victim of believing them. Make the story short, it was five days ago my main drain got clogged. After $340 (for snaking through the main drain ONLY!!!), I was told the clog persisted and was recommended to call Jack Spack to clean my septic tank which was the cause of clogging. I didn't bite the bait because the septic tank was serviced 8 months ago! (I follow religiously the experts' recommendation to clean my septic tank once every 3 years). After a stress test by using as much water as possible at the same time for an hour, I proved the service man's recommendation was a lie - a tactic to rip more cash off me. I just want to share my story to prevent more innocent people from getting ripped off by this dishonest company. read more

Michigan Power Rodding - Plumbing Near Me - Ann Arbor, Michigan

Our Kitchen sink became clogged. Called a couple plumbers but they didn't have the tools to snake drains. MPR was recommended by friends so I gave them a shot. The lady on the phone was very friendly and got us scheduled for the same day! I was told that they could be here between 3p and 5p. Got a call around 3p that Justin would arrive within 30 minutes. He was on time, ready with a mask (thanks COVID-19) and booties, and was very professional. He looked at the job, gave me a quote, and got to work. The whole thing took two hours. Upon finishing, he checked everything and then did a really fabulous job of cleaning up the job site upstairs and in the basement. He also suggested we use an enzyme cleaner to maintain our pipes and avoid clogged drains in the future. We are very happy with the service we received and will certainly call Michigan Power Rodding for any plumbing issues in the future! read more

MPR rocks. We have now used them twice. In both cases, they called back within 20 minutes of me contacting them, assessed the problem over the phone, and scheduled someone to come over. In one case we had an emergency early Saturday morning and they sent someone over who had the problem fixed two hours after it occurred. Prices were communicated clearly up front and fair given the high quality of the service. read more

One screw up can happen to anyone so I gave them a second chance. Worse than the first screw up. 1st visit was a call to check my sump pump. I had not heard it engage in days so I asked them to check it (Note: I cannot go up or down stairs.) They came out, checked, said they adjusted a few things and everything was fine. Two days later, we had a storm. I didn't hear the pump. I looked downstairs and saw water on the floor. I called MPR; they came back, were very apologetic, and replaced my sump pump. 2nd visit was a call to open a clogged drain in my bathtub. They came out, checked everything then said they'd snake the drain. 30 or so minutes later, the guy came up and said he'd broken a tee connector. He said he'd try to repair; he couldn't. He said he didn't have another, that I should call a plumber and that I should pay for his visit. I blew up, told him I'm not paying him and that he now owned the problem since he broke the pipe. I told him to go to ACE and buy what he needed and fix it. Lot's of phone calls, lots of time waiting. Eventually, he came back with a replacement tee. Drain was still clogged, however. More snaking; still no joy. He called for another tech, Eventually, they discovered that the internal plug in the drain had jammed. They removed it and the tub emptied. 5 1/2 hours. Pathetic. read more

Called MPR two hours ago, they gave me a ballpark over the phone and showed up with a flat, transparent rate for cleaning my drain and ran me through the process. Charles and Steven were really nice, and made clearing our sewer drain of tree roots as pleasant as possible. They ran the line twice to ensure the pipe was clear and cleaned up everything afterwards. I'm confident it's a job well done. I will, inevitably... be calling again and recommend these guys for sure! read more

We had a problem, Sunday about 5:30pm. Called their number and they had a Ryan on the scene by 6:00. He was thorough, professional, courteous and after some troubleshooting, fixed the problem. Ryan was fantastic... was patient with our questions and reassuring about keeping any mess to a minimum. Before beginning, he confirmed that he would fix the problem for the quoted price regardless of how long it took. Super friendly and really helpful office staff and technicians. I had a sump pump discharge line issue and was having difficulty finding someone to repair it. I called several plumbing companies---either no one would call me back or they would tell me they don't do that type of work and would refer to to someone else (who would do the same). I called Michigan Power Rodding and even though my issue wasn't among their services, they sent a technician out just to give me some advice because they were tired of me getting the run-around. The technician was so helpful---looked at the issue, explained exactly what needed to be done, and pointed me to a company he had worked with before. Highly recommend based on the customer service alone! (Though my neighbor has used their services before and also really likes them.) Thank you! read more

We came home from vacation to a clogged drain in our bathtub and I was able to get an appointment with Michigan Power Rodding the next evening (they actually offered to come out that night between 9 and midnight that day if we wanted, but it wasn't that much of an emergency). The tech was on time, quoted us a price up front, did the work quickly but thoroughly, was incredibly friendly and professional, and, maybe best of all, unlike other chain drain cleaning outfits we've used in the past didn't give us dire warning about our old pipes and how they should all be replaced immediately (which of course they could do "on the side" for us). The price was also at least $50 less than what I've paid for similar, but less professional and timely, service. From now on I'll absolutely use and recommend Michigan Power Rodding for any drain issues (and of course bonus points for their fantastic commercials which made me think of them in the first place). read more

We have, to put it politely, a problematic sewer line that we've been putting off digging up & completely redoing. Michigan Power Rodding has been helping keep our house draining for over a decade & I have been very satisfied with the relationship. They are knowledgeable, up-front about costs, and will tell you what you need to know, even if it's not what you want to hear. My most recent service call had Chris & Tommy out to my house; both arrived when I expected them, explained what they were doing & what they'd need to access, and were friendly & left no mess. Michigan Power Rodding fixed my problem with excellent customer service and I would gladly recommend them. read more

These guys are amazing. 11 o'clock at night and my basement is under 6 inches of water -- they arrived in 30 minutes, and an hour later the water was draining. They came back the following day -- as promised -- and correctly diagnosed the underlying problem. Their prices were more than fair, and the tech was friendly and very knowledgeable. They made a horrible night a lot better. I hope I never need this kind of service again, but if I do, I know who I'll call. read more

Project: Bathtub drain clogged. Estimates obtained: Four, Michigan Power Rodding estimate ended up in the middle. Payment accepted: Everything Calling to make the appointment was super easy and I was given a window of time in which to expect the guys (btwn 12-3). Daniel and Steven arrived within the window, at 12:45. Both guys were courteous, dressed neatly, and put booties on their feet upon entering my home. Before starting the job, they inspected the existing plumbing to ensure it was suitable to run their tools down the line. After a quick trip to the crawl space, they determined that everything was good to go. Daniel provided the scope of work and gave me their "upfront pricing". Given I had contacted three other plumbers, I knew the price was reasonable and approved the amount. After the drain was clear the guys ran water for a few minutes and went to the crawl space to check for leaks...no leaks. The job took maybe 25 minutes total. I am sure clearing 15ft of pipe made a mess, but there was no evidence of that when they left. In fact, the tub appeared cleaner then it was when they got there. The tub is draining like a champ, with zero issues. Overall, the guys were super nice, and they did an outstanding job for a reasonable price. Thanks to Daniel and Steven, great work gentlemen. read more

This is a business that you need WHEN YOU NEED IT....RIGHT AWAY!! They are an outstanding company with integrity, experience, and employees that care about the homeowner and their predicament. We had a sewer back up in our furnace room and my son called a nationally known company to clear the pipes. After they were done, they walked out and left me with a nasty mess on our floor. I didn't know what to do but knowing the reputation of Michigan Power Rodding I called them. They were out the same day, cleaned up the mess and sanitized the floor.... on top of that, the fee was beyond reasonable. I didn't mention that my husband is very ill and I was distraught not knowing what to do. The gentlemen that came to our house took over, moved and cleaned items in the way, and made sure I didn't have to deal with anything!!! As far as I'm concerned, they have paid it forward! They are the ONLY company I will ever use in the future and I will recommend them to anyone who needs this service!! read more

Today (5/21/17) I called Michigan Power Rodding for a clogged toilet. Britney that answered the phone told me that she could guarantee me an appointment between 3 and 6 PM. She also told me that she could probably fit me in before that. At 3 she called me and told me that I was definitely still on the schedule and they should be getting to me soon. At 5:15 Britney called me to inform me that she would be going home soon and they would not be able to get to me today. I asked about their add and website that stated that they were a 24/7 emergency company and she didn't know what to say. I asked to speak to a manager and she told me she would pass it along. If you don't mind being lied to and strung along, then by all means give them a call. I have tried them twice for emergencies with the same results. If you call them PLEASE have a back up plan.
