It wasn't too spicy for me, Sriracha would be way spicier in comparison, I didn't have to drink water after each bite, easily scarfed it down Regular Spicy Beef Patty - I didn't really taste much spiceness tbh Overall, the filling was sufficient in each patty and was nicely seasoned, and the bread was more crumbly than flaky. Personally, I prefer a more flaky patty. Also, the temperature of each patty was perfect, since I didn't burn my tongue at all! Pricing was affordable as well. I would rank their patties as the best but it's definitely up there and I would visit again! Service: Barely any wait on a Wednesday at 3:45pm. Staff were friendly, there were 2 people in front to serve customers. CASH & DEBIT ONLY Ambience: It's a takeout and mini grocer setting, so no sitting. It's the main production location where you can get bread that have been freshly baked, and, of course, Jamaican patties. I have been visiting Tastee's east Markham location regularly as of late. I've been enjoying its patties that I needed to restock. I came to this location after work yesterday, on a late Thursday afternoon. It was a beautiful, unseasonably warm day. I walked in with a t-shirt and joggers on with the temperature at 18°C. I backed into a parking spot a few steps away from the main entrance. I then walked in. I let my nose get me to the main counter. There was a display case full of hot patties. It smelled incredible. It was enjoyable browsing. I saw everything from Limacol after-shave lotion (a total eye-opening experience as someone who doesn't shave her face) to bags of salted cod bits. I kept thinking about ackee and saltfish after looking at the latter. I am a beverage person. I enjoyed looking at drinks with island flare. The Grace peanut punch still sticks in my head. I need to get a drink box and check it out. The large inviting fridge with what looked like endless boxes of frozen patties. made me so happy. Veggie. Chicken. Non-spicy beef. Regular spicy beef. Spicy beef. There is something for everyone. My favourite is the regular spicy beef. I find that it's cheaper to get a dozen patties here at $15. The McCowan location lists a box at $15.50. There isn't tax on top of the price. The difference in price is likely because the McCowan location allows you to pay with a credit card. It also has hot foods. It's cheaper getting a box of 24 patties for $24.25. If you get five cases or more of 24 patties, the price goes down to $22 per case. I love patties. I don't think that I can do a box of 24 patties unless I am having a party or I eat patties all day, every day. I learned when I got to the counter that you can only pay with cash or a debit card. I walked in with a credit card. I got the most understanding woman with blue hair at the payment counter. I let her know that I didn't have a debit card on me and had to head to my car to fetch it. She was great and nodded. I returned in less than a minute armed with my debit card. I thanked her for her patience. I tapped and was good. She asked if I needed the receipt. I took it. I was happy that the box of patties were mine. I wished her a wonderful day. She reciprocated. I left with a cheerful box of patties. Maybe I should get a 24-pack of patties next time. I've already had three. The regular spicy is perfect. It has a slight spicy kick with yummy, seasoned beef in each patty. I want to try the veggie and chicken ones next. I should broaden my horizons, but I love the regular spicy. It's difficult to break buying and consuming what you love. I have heard that this place used to offer hot food. I didn't see that offering when I was there. I suppose that the McCowan location handles it now. I want to get the oxtail. It looked incredible. I'm happy that I finally visited this location. I need to remember to bring a debit card whenever I'm here. I rarely have cash on me, so it's a debit card from now one. If you want yummy patties that don't break the bank, come here. You and your tummy with be content. (119)

For my money Kensington's best BEEF Jamaican patty resides here, albeit pricer too. I still also get patties from that other place as well but if we're talking standard beef, Crumb's version wins. Crumbs also offers a vegetarian option which is not something you see often. They also slice open their patties and stuff them with various toppings like cheeses, lettuce and tomato. I went simple since it was my first time here and got one Standard Patty and an Upgraded Standard Patty (both beef). The difference is the upgraded one comes with coco bread. I'm not generally a coco bread person because it can feel like a lot of bread/dough for me, but felt I had to do it to give a proper review. And honestly, I enjoyed the one with the coco bread as much as the one without it - it was nice and warm and didn't feel as doughy/like it was too much dough like I usually feel. The guy at the shop was cool - real personable, made us laugh few times and friendly. Whenever I make my way back to Toronto, would come back to try some of their remixed patties.

Located in the heavily industrial area of Emery Village, I found this location serendipitously. I wasn't looking for anything specific but I remembered a Caribbean food place I was at a long while back saying they only carry Tin Nel's patties. As I was heading to a client, I saw the sign! :D Literally!!! LOL!!! Made a note to go there for lunch. I actually didn't make it there for lunch - ugh.. oh well. Clients first. I did finally get there mid/late afternoon. I didn't expect much to be left. The least I can get is hopefully some patties to try. Walking in, there really isn't much to talk about. The hot table seem to not have been used at all - maybe lunch wasn't hopping during these Covid times. I asked what they had, to the gal who poked her head out the door leading to the kitchen (I assume). She asked what I wanted, a bit dry and not really all that happy to see me. I asked for a couple of patties and a small jerk chicken meal. She disappeared and reappeared shortly after. She arrived with plastic bag all tied up and ready to usher me on my way. Paid for the food, and away I went. I kind of felt hurried out because maybe I'm Asian... yeah... pandemic fears! I'm sure being a Canadian Korean who hasn't travelled to Asia since I was a teenager - who by the way has a great command of the English language and excellent enunciation (even through a mask) could count for a bit of courtesy... AND... maybe not! I kept my manners. Used, please, thank you, and goodbye ... to the young gal. I don't quite remember any pleasantries in return. Anyway.. this is a food review right!?! RIGHT! OK... first of all. The flakiness of the patty was pretty good. The filling was quite tasty - I just wish there was more than a thin paste of it. Skimping on the filling isn't going to win any awards but then again, I don't know if that is the norm. The jerk chicken was OK overall - nothing to to rave about but still something to write about. I expect some heat when having Caribbean foods. Maybe they took one look at me and made it mild or it's their standard seasoning. They could have at least asked me - I do speak the language... Keep in mind, there are so many Asians in Jamaica... We do make our way around the world. Teehee... Nonetheless... I really wanted to like the place. I'm a huge fan of Island Foods. Will I try this place again? Perhaps I will give them another go on the patties - but for the food, not a total hard pass but pass indeed. I guess my search for the best patties continues. If you have suggestions, please do drop me a message. An epic 2.5... cheers...

The curry bun could use more filling, but the pastry itself was flaky and flavorful. The cheese chicken bun was huge and super satisfying.
