I remember first encountering Jamaican beef patties at a shop at Warden station. You could buy it in a bun. It smells so good but I grew up poor and didn't have much spending money so I wondered for a long time... did it taste as good as it smelled. When it finally got to taste it out didn't disappoint. Since then I've tried 15-20 different patties. I like a crispy pastry... some can be tender and chewy or hard and crunchy... flaky and crispy is just right. Next the filing can't be dry and pasty... but audio can't be wet and ruins the crispness. And the flavor needs a little heat but not so much that you are suffering while eating. And it must have ground beef. Not just paste. Michideans were recommended to me a couple times by friend and recently i saw it featured on YouTube so i decided to give our a try. Wow. These have become my favorite patty. Perfect pastry, and filling with really beef chuncks. Love the flavor and just enough heat. These aren't cheap compared to lesser patties but they taste the best. If the price were just a little more than the others rudeness this would be and easy 5 star but it's good percentage more. But again you get what you pay for. read more

The fresh patties definitely taste better than frozen. If you're lucky, you can get some less pretty ones at a discount - tastes the same! This place is cash only. read more

I'll be honest here and say the beef patties are above average and deserve 4 stars. The beef filling is nice and moist and the crust is beyond flaky. The whole patty is very flavourful. But I reduced the rating to 2 stars because of the service. The service was beyond horrible and deserves only 1 star. However like I said the beef patty was ok and therefore the 2 stars. Let me describe the service experience. Upon entering, I was greeted by nobody in the small ordering room. The employees 2 of them looked at me and couldn't care less. Not even a hello or acknowledgement of my presence as a client. Only after 3-4 minutes of awkwardness did another customer walk in and proceeded to press the button. Only then did the one employee come over. Ok If that is the rule, I will play this game Fine Finally I can get some semblance of service I proceeded to order 1 dozen beef patties (1 box). I asked if the extra spicy patties were tolerable as I can't handle the heat. Again and this was the breaking point of their horrible service, the employee saids to me rather curtly and very rudely "ITS CALLED EXTRA SPICY, WHAT DO YOU THINK?" Ok I calmly retreated, paid for my order and left with an uneasy feeling. In conclusion, even though the patties are good I won't be returning because of these employees or owners or managers or whatever. Note to business: treat clients with respect. They are paying customers. read more

Went here for the first time the other day and so glad I did. I ordered the chicken and the extra spicy beef and loved both. My parents have already made it a plan to come back next weekend. In addition, the staff that was working was so kind. If I could give this place a 6/5 I would read more

Hands down the best patties. The pastry is flakey and the filling is gooey and flavourful in comparison to other patties. When they don't have a full box of the one that you want, they give you a partial box so that you have some of what you can for (if they have it on hand). They're always nice here. Greeted with smiles. Stop by and check them out. read more

Loveee their patties. The filling vs. crust ratio is perfect. It's stuffed very well and the spicy beef patties are so good. I've met the owners and they are super nice people! These patties are still so good even after I freeze it and bake/microwave it. Hands down my favourite patty. read more

Michidean Limited Ratings: 4.2/5 Food: 4.75/5 - I have never been to Jamaica, but my boyfriend and his mom have, and they raved about this place so much that I have to try it. Even though, I don't have a reference to compare these to, but they are so delicious and flaky like nothing I've ever had. It's like a croissant-like empanada if I am making any sense. Please see the descriptions of the patties we got below for more details. - Beef Patty [GET]: The crust is insanely flaky, buttery, and crispy. It got many layers to it, nothing taste like an empanada, just looks like one but bigger. It's not too thick or dry, it's just that wonderful. The beef filling is super savory, flavorful, and saucy. They accidently gave us the extra spicy, but it was not that spicy at all and tasted amazing, more like mild spicy. The crust to filling ratio is really good too. My boy inhaled like 4 patties in one sitting. - Chicken Patty [GET]: The chicken filling wasn't as good as the beef ones, which why the beef patties are the classic ones. They are not as savory and flavorful, and it was on the sweeter side. I didn't taste much of the chicken in it, and the filling was too mushy in texture. The crust is just as amazing as how I described for the beef patty; literally insane how crispy it is. Make sure to toast it for 5 mins before you eat them. Ambiance: 4/5 - Tiny store front, so it can be a bit challenging to find. As soon as you walk in, there's a small window or counter for you to order and get it for to-go. Interior is simply decorated with basic menus and flyers taped to the walls. There's no indoor dining available, only for to-go, and probably can only fit like 4 to 5 people max at once. Price: 4/5 - We got a dozen of the beef and chicken patties. I think the prices are reasonable and fair, because the patty is big and thick. They offer "seconds" which are patties that have minor imperfections for a discounted price, but I think they look totally fine, just some minor cracks and overflows of meats. We end up getting the "seconds" beef patties for $14, and the regular chicken patties for $17 before taxes. I heard this place increased their prices recently. This place is CASH only. Service: 4/5 - Ladies are nice, polite, and greeted us when we walked in. Service was standard, but very fast and efficient. We told them what we wanted, and the patties came out within 10 minutes. Easygoing people and seamless process. They are great. BLUF: Yummy! I am officially a fan of Jamaican patties! The beef patties are great and my favorite! The filling with the ground beef and perfect ratio of sauces / gravy was lovely, are the iconic item at Michidean. They do sell veggie patties too! So to whoever that never had a Jamaican patty before, please do your a favor and go try it out, especially if you are visiting Toronto. A MUST try and put Michidean on your list! read more

Great frozen patties. They don't sell fresh ones. Patties are sold as boxes (of a dozen).

This is probably one of the beef patties in Toronto, especially if you pick the spicy beef. To kick it a notch, cut in 1/2, put a slice of cheddar cheese inside before baking it. read more

My favourite beef patties! Located on the north east side of the building. They're pretty hidden, never knew they were located so close to my work place even though I drive past it everyday. Service there is fast and friendly. Beef patties are pre baked and frozen. Their flaky crust and flavour rich filling really sets them apart from the others. Especially when you get the spicy beef patties, the pepper flavour is more pronounced and I love it! Prices are reasonable and they also offer "seconds" which are patties that have minor cosmetic imperfections for a discount. read more

Best patties known to human kind so far! Flaky crust and nice saucy beef filling (get the extra spicy, its not that spicy but tastes amazing, i tried mild, its ok). Chicken and Vege is no way close to Extra Spicy Beef but for some people that option is nice since you still get that one of a kind crust. Now... since 2018 they raised the price multiple times. $10 to $12 to NOW $15. i don't think this is acceptable within 2 years, that's a 50% increase for the same patties, even with adding inflation, coved routines, its should not be that high and on top i am getting it at the factory. My last visit, i ordered 3 dozens for $45, was slightly unhappy. At least give returning customers a discount when ordering multiple boxes, like 2 dozens for $25. Maybe create a Membership card for $10 a year for like 15-20% discount? This will ensure people come to you 3-4x year to get their card worth. If you know your margin, this might be a good way for people to recommend their friends or buy for friends. Its a win/win. I used to be "lets go every other month" kind of guy, now i am more like once or twice a year. read more

Delicious patties! The staff is so sweet and kind, definitely went the extra mile during my visit today, totally made my day! I tried the spicy beef and will definitely be returning soon! Had this place bookmarked for a while, and finally made my way to this warehouse! had to go around the plaza to look for this gem, definitely not a place you could spot while driving! upon opening the doors, there's a window, and a piece of paper on the wall to explain the prices. A dozen of regular patties were 13.00 A dozen of seconds patties (not perfect) were 11.00 They ran out of spicy beef seconds, so we got the regulars. The price includes tax, the lady there was nice. After buying a box, she gave my husband and I a patty each to go!! oh my it was so yummy! Brings back so many memories of eating patties in paper bags when I was in school!! The spicy has just the right enough spice to linger in your mouth but not burn off the roof of your mouth! Love it! The flakey crust was so good, it wasn't overly thick or dry, the meat was nice and moist! everything you want in a patty! come here and buy a box!! read more

beef patties since I was a teenager. This is by FAR the best I've had. Best value. The beef patty is the most wholesome meal you can get for $1.50. They're baked fresh on the premises, so you know you're getting a patty with some love. Not some frozen sh** tossed in a pizza oven. Really nice atmosphere with friendly staff. The golden pastry flaked away as I took my first few bites. Inside, I discovered a warming, rich filling of ground beef and lots of Jamaican spices - with a hint of curry I've been eating. read more

Best patties in the city. The crust is beautiful. So damn flaky! And there's always a perfect amount of filling in them. The extra spicy is my go to. Amazing patties! The best that I've ever had. I always get the beef, and find the flavour and the flakiness of the patty crust is perfect.

Patties are $12/dozen, frozen. No longer $10/box! Beef-extra spicy/mild Chicken Vegetable Counter-window is where you order. Warm/flaky patties for demo in the small oven. I've had my fair share of patties growing up and these are hands down my favourite of all time. My best friend told me I could get the best patties at the convenience store by the YONGE subway line at Bloor station, and she was not kidding. I found out Michidean makes them and eventually made my way to the Birchmount location to grab a couple dozen. The plaza is easy to find but they are in the back of the plaza. The customer service was excellent and they even hooked me up! Now, if you enjoy moist, beefy, spicy patties these are worth a try! I also love the crust as it's flaky and not too thick. They also carry chicken and veggie patties. They have a downtown location too. read more

These guys have the worst customer service ever! I was going to buy a bunch of boxes of beef patties for a big school party. Small store front. Good patties. Employees are nice. I wanted to try half spicy and half mild but was declined.

My experience there was a bit surreal and not like some others. I had no idea what I was walking into. Michidean is located on the north east corner of the U-Shaped business strip. It occupies two units and for all intents and purposes, the non-descript place could be a dry cleaner, computer shop, or a grow-op! I walked in and there is a scatter of postings on the wall with prices and cut off box tops. The room is standing only as it was about 4x8 maybe in size. Not really sure what to do but to choose or not to choose to push the singular round bell button on the right of a single door. Play "Twilight Zone" theme in my head - No...not the Glowing Vampires and Overgrown doggie movie thingy! Pushed the button and promptly, a guy who looks like he is dressed in full garb slaughterhouse style - full dress gown with face mask and hair net - asks "what do you want?" Play "Friday the 13th" theme! I asked for the dozen baked extra spicy. He grabs one from a desk on the side and says $10 bucks. I looked in my wallet for some cash and he takes off his mask to reveal a full out double nostril runner!!! Ugh! Really!? Luckily the ones he handed us were packaged and wrapped already - hopefully not his handywork. He yells over to a lady who took my money. He must not be the regular "customer service" person. - hopefully! Oh...I didn't even get one to try to see if I wanted to get a box! Oh well, the lady gave me my change and I walked out with a box and an urge to use Alcohol Rub all over my exposed skin! Play "Mission:Impossible" theme as I don't think I will be able to erase the "Mucous-man" from my mind and I'm also on the mission to try these golden pockets of goodness!?!?! Nonetheless, with a full slathering of Purell, I prepped the patties for tasting. The outer was flaky and buttery - almost too pastry like. The filling was delish! The gravy and beef was abundant and I wish the extra spicy was spicier. Can't have too many of them as they are much richer in taste and probably calories than other patties that I've had. Will go back again to get some for the fam and friends - with Purell close by! A 4 for the patties only! The operation and the experience would drive this score soooooo much lower. Cheers! read more

I like getting my patties here for lunch. It comes in a box of 12 & costs $8 ! :) Then I refrigerate or freeze them and eat one for the next 2 weeks LOL They have various flavours beef (mild, spicy), chicken, veggie... I believe there's one more but I forgot. The veggie & mild beef are my fav. I usualy get assorted. The place is run by Dillon and his daughter Michelle. The staff here are also super nice as well. One of them keeps offering patties to my dog. Unfortunately my current dog cannot eat patties though my previous dog used to inhale them w/ no probs. Def worth checking out.! I believe they distribute their patties all over the GTA. When the patties are fresh...warm & toasty...u could eat like 3! :D read more

Hands down the best patties in the city. The pasty is so delicious I can't even describe it. I really love their veggie patties the most, but their beef and chicken are pretty much right behind. You can pick up a dozen baked ones for $10 or cheaper if you buy in bulk or buy the raw version. They also have cocktail patties which are great for hosting a party. My fiancé and I are planning on getting their patties as a late night snack for our wedding. Definitely worth the drive to Markham. read more

The staff is very nice and friendly and the price can't be beat! I believe you can only buy pre-packaged boxes of 12 of the same patties, but they are happy to provide "samples" which are full size patties! It is a small counter located in a strip mall, so if you need to chow down right away, it'll have to be in your car, but at least parking is readily available. The ingredient list indicates that there is msg in both the filling and the pastry, which explains why I was so thirsty afterwards. :( read more
