We stopped in for a drink on a Tuesday night. It was fairly late, so it was pretty quiet, but I've heard that it gets pretty lively when they're busy. They have a nice selection of craft cocktails and beer and wine selections. I ordered the Paloma, which had fresh muddled strawberries. I was a little worried that it might be too sweet, but it was perfect! My friend ordered the Vampira and really enjoyed hers as well. Service was friendly and attentive and we had a great experience. Miches Vatos has the best ceviche in town and is one of my favorite spots whenever I'm craving ceviche. The food keeps me coming back every time. The ambiance is always good, with a great variety of music that keeps the place lively and enjoyable. It adds to the overall experience and makes it a fun spot to visit. That said, there's definitely room for improvement with the cocktails. I've tried almost everything on the menu besides the micheladas, and the bartender could use a little more practice with mixed drinks. Service can also be slow, especially when they're busy. It seems like they may only have one chef, because food can take a while to come out, and sometimes it takes 20 minutes just for someone to stop by the table and ask for drink orders. Even with those issues, I still keep coming back because the ceviche is that good. If they improve service and step up the cocktail game, this place could easily be even better. read more

We went for a For Kids Foundation fundraiser. The atmosphere is nice inside. I like the variety of seating. Tequila drink variety is good. Some were a little sweet so next time I would get the classic margarita which tasted really fresh with the lime. The shrimp tostada flavors were delicious. We got a milder cerviche for our daughter so next time, I would try spicer. Service was slow unfortunately when we got there, they only had one bartender. Later 2 more ladies came and the guy helped in the kitchen which speed things up. read more

This was a vibe! A fun spot in midtown where you can get some amazing tequila and all of the shrimp dishes your heart desires. Sadly my husband is allergic to shellfish so the only thing on the menu we could get was the chips and guacamole. But they were delicious! As were our cocktails! We will definitely be back form drinks! There is plenty of space for large and small groups! Parking behind the building or on Virginia street, but it is limited. read more

I love this place but I hate their hours!!! Micheladas and sea food are meant to be eaten during the day. Most Marisquerías are open for lunch and close early, plus micheladas are meant to be a hangover cure. read more

Vibe is cute. Staff was friendly and service was quick. What I really appreciate is the bartender actually doing a thick Tajin rim! Usually when I ask for this, they never seem to understand what thick means, but this bartender did exactly what I wanted it. The margarita was amazing. The Michelada was delicious. We also ordered guac which was very good. We did have to ask for more chips. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Had a chance to check out Miches Vatos and it did not disappoint. I ordered the guava michelada with a Victoria and this combo was the perfect balance of tart, sweet, and savory with that smooth, malty finish from the Victoria. I also had the Aguachiles verdes, and let me just say... some of the best I've had in town. The salsa verde had that fresh, citrusy kick, and the butterfly shrimp cut? Chef's kiss. It makes a big difference if you don't like chewy shrimp. Heads up: food took about 30-40 minutes to come out, but they had an event going on that night and were clearly slammed. Still, the place was clean, well decorated and the drinks came out fast. read more

If you're in the mood for ceviche style seafood, this place is a must! The ceviche Nayarit is a bit on the spicier side but very good. The guacamole is delicious, I could have ate that alone and been fully satisfied. Our group really enjoyed the black aguachile! The flavors are everything you would want in an aguachile, especially with the Tostito chips. The atmosphere is nice. It is dimly lit, giving more of a cocktail bar vibe, but I wouldn't say that's a bad thing. read more

Walking in was very inviting, especially from the bartender and waitress's! They were super kind and very helpful when we had questions. Our waitress was very attentive and was amazing when she brought out more tostada shells! We didn't ask but she automatically did it. Speaking of the food, we ordered the Jalisco Ceviche and it was absolutely delicious! Well crafted and perfectly layered. The juice at the bottom was to die for. You'll want to crave more. Their Micheladas are fantastic too and always go for the mango one. Highly recommend giving them a try. It's a big expensive but worth the try. Wandered in on a Friday evening (~6:30pm) and it was quite dead for that time. Not necessarily a complaint, hopefully they're just picking up business with their new location. I liked the vibe, lots of live plants and it had a clean, modern feel, almost upscale. The ceviche was fantastic! Just ordered the classic Jalisco style. The bartender was super nice and brought us an extra plate and chips, unsolicited. My only complaint is the drink list - no draft beers (only bottles/cans), I can't recall if there was a wine option. It seems like it caters to more of a liquor crowd, which just isn't really my thing. I'd like to go back and try other ceviches for sure! read more

I tried Miches Vatos when they were still at Reno Public Market awhile ago and thoroughly enjoyed their aguachile verde. It was spicy, tangy and extremely fresh. The presentation was also something to note and you could tell they took their time creating a beautiful platter. I don't drink, so I can't speak to the micheladas, but they do look good and they offer flavor varieties such as mango and guava. I came back to the new location for a comedy show with my partner and we had a great time in there! It's very clean and well put together. The decor is nice and you do feel like you're at a hip club seeing a show if you get a good table. We wanted to show up early to eat and enjoy the show and got a great table to set up for awhile. My partner can't handle spice too well, so we opted for the aguachile rojo this time around and it was just as delicious as the other time we came. The shrimp are butterflied and just soak up the tangy, spicy sauce. I was happy to see that the quality remained consistent between such different visits! The service was also great, especially when it isn't too busy. It definitely seems like they could use a hand though, because once it got busy after the show, I stood at the bar for almost 10 minutes just to pay and was constantly trying to get someone's attention. The ceviche jalisco is what I ordered, I am unsure what their secret ingredient is but all their ingredients blended together sooo well, from sweetness, to savory, to tartness, and spicy level. Solid shrimp ceviche choice at Reno Public Market. Location is close to the front and in the center aisle of the market by the front doors and next to the cookie place. Jalisco ceviche plate comes with a good amount of shrimp pieces, lots of diced cucumber, cilantro, light on diced tomatoe, thinly sliced red onion and half of an avocado sliced on top. This place gets a three out of five star simply because the service was really slow. I went with a group of seven. We ordered about five different platters of different aguachile, which can take a while but parties that arrived after us received their food prior to us and it took roughly about an hour and 15 minutes just to get our food. I would understand if it was busy, but the server wasn't really attentive to us. Food was good. Ambiance was good. The business definitely lacks some sort of structure because they simply weren't prepared to open for their business hours. read more

Did some looking and stumbled across this great nectar of the mexican gods. A michelada with my favorite beer. Topped off with shrimp ceviche. They called it a michelada botanera. I got the Jalisco ceviche, and it was so fresh & the portions are HUGE! You will definitely need to order extra tostadas/chips with your order, they only give you 3 which will likely not be enough in comparison to how much ceviche they give you. The service was good & your order comes out pretty quick. They have the texting system, which texts you to come up to the counter when your food is ready, which works efficiently given that seating might not always be near the restaurant. Was in Reno for a week. Wanted to try Reno Public market. All the vendors there look like a nice place to try. However, the sound of a Michelada sounded mouthwatering. Tried the Michelada with a botana ceviche on top. I have to say this place has one of the best Michelada I have tasted along with fresh ceviche. I must try it again on my next visit to Reno. I've been to the Reno Public Market a couple of times I always walk by this place didn't really read what it was about until I saw a guy with one in his hand. A michelada preparada and I decided to try one out for myself and let me tell you it was one of the best micheladas in town hands down. I ordered mine with a modelo beer and the flavors of the ceviche on the top really gave the drink the taste it gave. Price of it wasn't too bad either there is places that sell it for much more and doesn't taste great. Customer service was exceptional the lady taking my order was really helpful and gave a great personal opinion. The ambiance of where it is located is great as well and it looks to be very busy whenever I go. Overall I look forward to trying more items on my next trip. read more

My brother got me hooked on micheladas a year or two ago, so when I heard a michelada food truck had opened up, I knew I had to try it. It took me a while but I finally got to and was NOT disappointed. The michelada itself was perfect: spicy, tomato-y with the perfect amount of beer. It's also HUGE. I like that they offer toppings--I went with the ceviche and it was all delicious. This drink was basically a meal, which was good because the price was steep. All in all, if you're a michelada fan, this one is for you! read more

Upon walking in,I was impressed with the patrons,this was a no frills crowd who looked like they were all in on a secret that this place was going to be a really good foodie spot.This is one of those spots where u walk up and order at the counter and they bring your food out to you.I loved the decor as you can really tell the owners are proud of their Jalisco roots.As an added bonus-I do tend to like taquerias that have pics of the menu items on the walls-always been a good luck charm for me that the place would be pretty good. We ordered a few things-A Super Burrito with Al Pastor($13.50)-it was pretty tasty-way way filling-killed my buzz totally-which I guess was the goal-I'd order it again for sure.We Also got a Shrimp taco($5)My wife is from Jalisco,so kinda picky with her Mexican food but she thought it was pretty tasty-one of the most flavorful tacos she has had in a long time.We also got the 2 enchilada plate with ground beef and chicken($15.50)-This dish came with rice and bean-I really liked the rice quite a bit and beans went well with the chips because of the added cheese on the beans.One thing I didn't love was the fact that you had to pay for chips and salsa-I'm sure I'm just spoiled from all the places that gives those out for free but I guess that's the way it goes-pretty sure it was like $3-no biggie. In closing-if u ever find yourself in Reno and u want something other than the commercial stuff they sell in the casinos-I would highly recommend walking across the street from Silver Legacy and walk into this little hole in the wall hidden gem of a restaurant and enjoy yourself a taste of Jalisco -you won't be disappointed.

I ordered one birria taco and one mahi mahi taco and both were so soft and flavorful. I also got a blackberry lemon drop (allergic to tequila unfortunately) but it was nice to have a good vodka cocktail option that wasn't too sweet! To top everything off, staff were incredibly kind and hospitable, overall it was a very enjoyable experience & I will definitely be back!

Mexcal is a taco joint serving up elevated tacos that you can order one by one. These things are loaded up with protein and toppings, and they do not skimp on the portions! The flavor combinations are absolutely unreal, and I love that they have some unique protein options, too. I tried the duck confit, the spicy lamb, and the short rib tacos. My dad ordered the al pastor and quesabirria tacos. We both agreed that the short rib was our favorite. Tender short rib in a delicious sauce topped with fresh guac. Fantastic! I was also shocked by how much duck they loaded up the duck confit taco with. That was probably my second favorite. Super tender duck with tons of flavor. The vibe here is casual, but it can be a nice, elevated date night spot. I really enjoy that you can order one or two tacos and then order more if you're still hungry. The service between orders is fast enough that you don't have to feel pressured to order them all at the same time. Overall, very impressed with Mexcal, and it will often be one of my recs to others looking for a great bite in the midtown/downtown area.

On 4th of July I was craving Mexican food and all my regular stomping grounds were closed-Chihuahua's was OPEN! I rolled my eyes and said fine. So happy all the other places were closed! This is now my new Mexican go to!! Not sure what changed but I've been two days in a row now and can't wait to go back. Service-100% Never have to wait for drinks, food or the bill Food-100% Flavors galore! Burritos-stuffed full! Chimichanga-not too fried! Enchiladas- green and red sauce?! So good! And the best part, frosted mugs for the margaritas. Perfect for days after yard work, being in the sun all day, or just on hot days. I feel ashamed for not feeling the love for this place years ago. But I'm here now!

Not much quantity so we had to ask for more. They gave us a little more. Seemed kind of stingy. Ambiance - Decent size location. Not busy at all on a Friday prime dinner time. This should have been a sign... Table, booth, and bar seating. Limited mall parking in front, but no problem getting a good space. Your outside signage needs some repairs. Service - Just okay. I had to ask for everything; utensils, more chips, etc. The younger female employee was better than the older one. Price - $19; reasonable. Plus a more generous tip then earned... But I did NOT appreciate the hidden charges. 50¢ extra for chorizo. 3.5% credit card fee. If you disclosed it, it would NOT have made a difference, but nowhere on the menu nor did any employee mention these additional charges. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2018...?

They were very helpful in choosing what to order! The bison comes from their ranch in Wyoming, the owners brother runs the ranch! The elk comes from a group of family farms they have been doing business with for over 40 years in New Zealand. (Wow!) And the in house ground beef is mostly Niman ranch and Creekstone farms.
