Dr. Tisi Malcolmson became my PCP in November 2011. I have multiple, serious health conditions, and I'm on Social Security Disability. I thank God that Dr. Malcolmson is such a thorough, compassionate, smart physician. She saved my life by correctly diagnosing and treating me, on issues missdiagnosed by other phycisians. She is very direct and to the point (New Yorker), and takes time to listen and explain. Her Sutter Pacific Medical Clinic is clean and well run, and has wonderful staff. Appointment waits are normallly 10 minutes or less - unless she has emergencies which I experienced once. By the way I see her bi-monthly due to the complexity of my conditions. I trust her completely with my medical care. read more

I love Dr. Malcomson especially after a bad experience with a different PCP when I was hoping to find a permanent doctor. She is caring and smart and the best thing is her attentiveness during an appointment. I know she's busy but you'd never know it when she's with you. FINAL STRAW!! I finally left this practice after many, many unhappy incidents. I only went to the doctor's once or twice a year, so I hesitated in finding another office. Last time I went, I waited 45 minutes to see her. I just had a baby 6 weeks ago and was 10 minutes late for my appt. I needed to refill a prescription and they said I HAD to go in to the office to do so. Fine! Yes, my fault for being 10 minutes late (technically it was 8 min) but they refused to see me! Are you serious?!! They had me wait in the waiting room 20 minutes before telling me they weren't going to see me. Their explanation: the doctor was running late. Huh?!! So if she is running late, if I got here on time, she wouldn't have been able to see me anyway, right??? The last straw was the office manager telling me, "You're not the only patient..." Wow. I must say I found the other two reviews of Dr. Tisi were way off base! I found her on the recommendation of a friend while attending a Triathlon in the Bay Area. I was having intense pain in my lower abdominal area and needed a diagnosis before the race. Dr. Tisi was direct and informative. She diagnosed me with having a Duodenal ulcer and recommended that I reduce the intensity of my training until the symptoms sudsided. I found Dr. Tisi's honest and direct approach refreshing. I prefer a direct approach to bedside manner more useful than a "Friendly" one. However, those who do not pursue a healthy lifestyle my not feel comforted by an honest, direct approach to their particular condition. I appreciate professionals that save me from myself! read more

Dr Malcolmson is great! She got my cholesterol and blood pressure better controlled with diet and exercise. She even gave me some of her own personal recipes which are pretty good. It did take a lot of work on my part because I had to change my diet and get on an exercise schedule, but I am healthier for it and thank her for showing me the way! read more

I switched to Dr. Malcolmson last year and I am totally satisfied and lucky to have her as a doctor. I am 70 and need a doctor that can treat the current issue but also has my overall health in her hands. Dr. malcolmson does just that and i know she really cares about me. She is personable, very knowledgeable and gently but firmly nudges me in the right direction. Her staff are A+ When i need to see her quickly they get me in. I think Dr.Tisi has good people skills and has always taken my medical concerns seriously, with compassion and patience. She found that I was Vitamin D deficient, whereas no other doctor even mentioned Vitamin D or Iron testing. Now at least I can take supplements to correct the levels. read more

dr. tisi is super thorough..i have been to her office a lot and every time she is friendly kind and almost always orders blood work to make sure we aren't missing anything. She is great with email and has even called me on weekends to see how i am doing..she always asks how my family is doing..she really is awesome! a real advocate for her patients..her new office is super nice and her staff is OK..i had a little bit of an issue with her receptionist but after complaining about it she has now been really nice to me..also Michelle has great back up if she isn't in the office..a win win all around..definitely happy i switched to her..she really cares! i just adore her and her staff now!) read more

Dr. Tisi has been my internist for about a year and a half now. I have seen her several times and each time our appointments lasted 30 min - 1hr, which is much longer than any doctor has ever taken the time to speak to me before. She allows me to play an active role in my health, in fact she encourages it. More than just treating me when I'm sick, Dr. Tisi has worked with me to develop a plan toward well being. She's easy to talk to and genuinely sees her patients as individuals and cares for their health. read more

After having the same Primary Care Physician for many years, she retired. Dr. Tisi/Malcomson was referred to me by a specialist that I had been seeing. Naturally I checked Yelp and was a bit disappointed not to find rave reviews, but trusted the referral. I read comments carefully and decided to reserve judgment until meeting with the doctor. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of time allowed to review my medical history and current concerns. Acting as my own health advocate, I came prepared for the 1st appointment with a short medical "resume" and a list of concerns. Dr. Malcomson paid close attention to all and asked pointed questions in response. I have continued seeing her for routine exams and specific issues, and find her approach informative and reassuring. I've long since meant to update my review. It isn't fair that my review impacts Dr. Tisi/Malcolmson....but it still stands in terms of patient care and communication of the office staff. For that reason I still won't return to the office but Dr. Malcomson who I only saw one time prior to the disaster experience was fine. I didn't love or hate her. I have seen Dr. Tisi three times as a new patient. I think some of these reviews are harsh. In my experience, she's been on-time, attentive, engaged and appropriately dressed. She was not judgmental or abrupt w/ me at all; she is to the point, even mildly humorous at times. She also tested me for Vit. D deficiency, but provided a helpful and seemingly persuasive article on that issue, so I don't really see why this is an issue for some people. Her office does work with Labcorps, as do many health plans, which is a different review (and not a happy one - they are expensive and their labs are appallingly dirty and poorly run). But, you can have your lab work done at Sutter Health's labs, which are in the city, much cleaner and better organized. Finally, the staff at her Sutter Street office has been helpful and courteous. read more

I returned to the Bay Area unexpectedly and needed to find a PCP right away. I opted for a new type of medical insurance and was unclear what to expect. After some research, I elected Pacific Sutter Health. From the first interaction with receptionists and staff, I was treated with consideration and professionalism. Dr. Malcomlson is a uniquely dedicated and sharp Internal Medicine Specialist. She took me on because I asked to be seen right away, though she is already super booked. I went to see her in an emergency mode and she offered me ample time from the first visit. I had a lot to say and was very descriptive with my symptoms. She was patient, thorough and weeded through my symptoms in a way that may prior PCP of 7 years didn't even get close. Wow, is this how good medicine looks like? Finally, I got lucky! The blood tests unfortunately proved her right and she immediately chose the correct treatment for me. She even ordered supplemental tests just to make sure we were on the right track. Very thorough. Going the extra mile is what I appreciate in my PCP. She is very collaborative and perceptive to what I have to say. I don't consider myself an easy patient. During the treatment, I emailed her many times, more so to whine about the treatment, which granted, was difficult to go through but neccesary; she was more than prompt in her responses and empathetical in her bed side manner. She also has a pleasant personality and I think she genuinely cares. Dr. Malcolmson continues to go out of her way in order to get me through appointments with specialists sooner, to accommodate my need to expedite medical visits. My medical plan allows me to select specialists without the PCP's involvement, she could have said no to my requests many times, however, she continues to intercede. I don't know when she does it all! So far, the treatment she prescribed proved effective and I believe I am on my way to full recovery. Meanwhile, my husband was positively impressed with my experience and became her patient too. She is proving to be as thorough and insightful as she was with me. As I read the reviews I can only conclude that they say far more about the reviewers than about Dr. Tisi. If you want Marcus Welby, do not seek out a young, female practitioner. If bedside manner is your first criterion, perhaps she is not the best fit for you, but character assassination is not then in order. I wonder what she would write if she were allowed to review her patients and some of their rudeness, sense of entitlement and idiosyncracies. And to comment on her dress, again, speaks more about the reviewer than the Doctor, as she is always tastefully attired, (maybe the reviewer prefers a frumpier look). Dr. Tisi is the first physician that I have had who is considerably younger than I am, and that took a bit of getting used to, but is hardly her fault. She got to the bottom of a few (minor) issues that, frankly, no other doctor had taken the time to deal with. She also had some suggestions on how I might deal with a chronic complaint that others had only suggested fairly drastic measures to alleviate. Her thoroughness, which apparently bothered others (why would you NOT want your doctor to be thorough?) is to me a sign that she is off-setting her lack of years of experience with careful attention. I am willing to stick with her and benefit from her professional growth. Her slight brusqueness, which others found offensive, disappears once she gets to know you a bit and I had no trouble getting smiles out of her. She's got the smarts and the ability to connect the dots, and that's what I think will allow her to grow from a good doctor, which she is now, to a great doctor with the benefit of more experience. read more

(I am editing my review on this doctor to keep the medical details private.) I had a bad experience here with this doctor. I went to her because I was looking for a good General Internist. I try to talk to her but I'm not sure she hears me. She refers me back to a specialist I told her I have already seen before.... She comes up with a diagnosis that I believe is incorrect or obsolete. I ask her about calcium and she hands me a vitamin E brochure. I request for a certain type of blood test and I think she wrote the wrong one and later tried to accuse me of writing it in myself. Of course, I did not write it because how would I know the specific technical terms. And for all this, I could probably overlook and assume that we just had a bad start. And if she read this review, I could understand if she doesn't want to see me, but how could she go out of her way and try to BAN me from seeing another doctor at the same clinic. This is not right and UNPROFESSIONAL. read more

Dr. Tisi comes across as a concerned, thoughtful doctor when you first meet her. She spends a lot of time with new patients and takes thorough notes. However, on our first meeting, she denied that I had a condition that I have had since I was 12. It is nothing serious but it was appalling that she told me I didn't have it. I had decided to find a new doctor after that initial appointment but before I could, I had an accident and began seeing a string of specialists. She was aware of the accident but did not agree with some of the advice/treatment I was receiving from my team of doctors. I appreciate varying opinions but she made a difficult situation highly stressful without any detailed knowledge of my treatments or even having a conversation with my care team. In the end, I think she is a young doctor with a lot to learn about dealing with patients and respecting the opinions of other medical professionals who will inevitably treat her patients. I am a huge advocate of being an active participant in one's medical treatment but it is unprofessional to put patients in the position of choosing between the opinion of their primary care physician and the opinion of other specialists. Furthermore, she added stress and anxiety to my situation when all the other medical professionals where nurturing, positive and calming in a time of healing. Needless to say, I stuck with my specialists and have found a new primary doctor. read more

This woman is cold and supercilious. I was handled without compassion, and eventually began to get annoyed, and while I was sitting there wearing nothing but a paper drape she then made a show of putting on a face mask and saying " you understand - this can be quite unpleasant " (it's not wonderful for the puckered up patient in the paper drape either - she made me feel pretty gross) and repeated the name of the body parts she was examining - thanks for the clarity! I should have walked out, paper drape & all, but I had already waited an hour for this privilege, my parking meter was running out, and I had paid the $25 copay and my gp had suddenly left the practice in June (WHY?) - so there I was. But at least I did not give Dr. Malcolmson the satisfaction of a reaction - she really shouldn't practice 'medicine' if she can't maintain professional courtesy.
