If you're looking to get some variety with pizza flights and pasta flights, look no further because you are absolutely in the right place. Their pizza flights and pasta flights were my favourite. We tried alfredo pasta, red sauce pasta and their salads with in house dressing. Everything was my delicious. Fried pickle appetiser was delicious and gone in a few seconds. Totally vegetarian friendly!!! The service was so amazing and the staff were so polite, friendly and helpful. The ambiance is so comfortable, pretty and welcoming. I would surely come back with friends soon. The drinks (sorry to mention late) are the life of the party! Catch some flights at Michelina's! The perfect place to try a little bit of everything, especially with a group of people! We got to try their calzones, pizzas, and pasta/salad flights! Their food is delicious and fresh and their drinks are yummy! For all the flights, you get to pick your own options! I have never been to a place that has a pizza flight so this place is perfect. We got the fo-chicken, margarita, and supra pizzas. For the flightzones we got the buffalo chicken, cheese, and pepperoni ones. But it's the round trip flights that are the best! It comes with your choice of a pasta, protein, and salad. My favorite dish of the night though was the spicy calamari. Shout out to the owner Cheryl, she is the sweetest and the staff is so kind! Had some takeout from here for the first time, tried the famous Michelinas. Their crust was perfectly thin and crispy. I know other places near here get a lot of the hype but his is truly one of my favorites . Would like to dine in at some point as well. read more

I came here solely because they had vegan pizza options and I'm so thankful I did. I didn't try their non vegan items but their garlic vegan cheese bread and vegan pizza were both phenomenal. It was SO good. My daughter who is 3 and son who is 8 couldn't stop eating it. The service was amazing. They were really nice and constantly came to check in on my table. Metered parking on the street. The vegan meatballs weren't my favorite but that's okay. Even so, I'm definitely becoming a regular. read more

This has to be one of the worst pizzas I've ever had. The one good thing about it was it was hot. It literally tasted like canned tomatoes were just heated up with zero seasonings and they were served on cardboard. The dough had zero flavor and was hard like a cracker. Came in with a party of two on Saturday night and was pleasantly surprised by the ambiance and that they sat us right away. We found Michelina's from an Instagram post and were not disappointed. Great service, great music and great food. The pizza flight, garlic bread, penne alla vodka and garlic parm wings were all 10/10. We visited from out of town but cannot wait to go back. Grabbed dinner with a friend who works up the street. Cute interior, found parking easily. Restaurant and bar were pretty empty on a Wednesday night. Asked for a mocktail (none listed on the menu u) and my server said they can make one for me. I asked for something fruity, and got a delicious guava passionfruit drink. Delicious and perfectly on point with what I wanted! Ordered the Chicken Limon but was definitely intrigued with their Wed night Pasta special. $15 for pasta with sauce. Asked for linguine instead of penne to go with the Chicken Limon and was very pleased with my order. Chicken was tender and juicy, the lemon sauce delicious and my pasta perfectly cooked. My friend ordered a pepperoni pizza with hot honey and loved it! I will definitely keep this place on my list of New Haven restaurants to visit again! read more

Michelina's on State (aka Michelina's Apizza & Ristoranté) is an Italian restaurant and New Haven-style pizzeria that opened in New Haven, Connecticut in July 2020. It was founded by Sal Gagliardi: a member of the Gagliardi restaurant family that also owns Giulio's Pizza and Top Shelf Lounge in North Haven. The current owner is Cheryl Masselli and the current executive chef is Ray Gennaro. The latter has worked as a chef at several area restaurants including the Waverly Inn, La Foresta Restaurant, and Consiglio's Restaurant. The current menu at Michelina's include's wood-fired New Haven-style pizza (or "Apizza" as it's called in the local dialect), pasta dishes, chicken entrees, salads, appetizers, and plenty of craft cocktails. I recently visited Michelina's with some friends for a special banquet. Chef Ray and his staff prepared quite a feast for us with both popular menu items as well as some special dishes that weren't on the menu. For pizzas, we were treated to a red pie with bacon & hot honey followed by a white pie with Penne Alfredo. For appetizers, we sampled the "Ring around the RONI" (pull apart garlic ring made of dough with marinara dipping sauce), the "Twister" (vodka sauce and bacon nestled between pizza dough sliced and twisted into perfectly pickable pieces), "Bacon & Cheese Potato Croquettes" (pistachio truffle aioli), Wings, "Go Gos Chicken Taco Empanadas", "Baby Shower Meatballs" (jelly, bourbon BBQ sauce), "Fried Burrata" (creamy vodka sauce), "Buffalo Crispy Chicken Bites", and "Seafood Risotto". Everything was so delicious! The bar staff also treated us to some delicious craft cocktails. My favorite was an Espresso Martini crafted with Canción Tequila instead of vodka. For dessert, we were treated to "Ghirardelli Chocolate Ricotta-stuffed Empanadas" (with cannoli cream) and "Strawberry Shortcake". We were all so full by the end! Ordered a fried calzone that said it was supposed to feed 2 people. It showed up and is the smallest, calzone I've ever seen in my life. The dough is also raw which is crazy when I was expecting a crispy fried calzone. read more

We were in the area later in the evening and Michelina's Apizza was conveniently open till 10pm. We've been to other more 'famous' places but as always wanted to explore :-) We picked up 3 pizzas and were not disappointed! Two had pepperoni (one + hot cherry peppers) and they do pepperoni right! Crust is flavorful & that nice chewy texture that is ideal, but sometimes elusive. We will be back next time for more! read more

He told us the ordering system was down and the order was lost, but it seemed like BS. He didn't check on us in the interim even though there were few other customers. My partner came across this place on social media and wanted to try their pizza flights. They also have a vegan menu which was great for me. We were a party of 6 - 4 adults and 2 kids. Keep in mind, the place was empty. We ordered drinks and had to remind the waitress of my brother in law's wine twice. We ordered our food - 1 pizza flight, 2 small pizzas, 1 large pizza and wings. A bit after our order was placed, the waitress came back and asked if I wanted the vegan dough which I thought was confusing since I ordered one of their vegan pizzas. My assumption was that the dough was vegan so I recommend clarifying when ordering. All the food came out except my vegan pizza. By the time it arrived everyone was almost done eating. The bill came and was almost $200 which is in my opinion a lot for a basic pizza place. That included an 18% automatic gratuity. The pizza flight was $36. This price was not advertised on the menu and the amount of pizza was about a small so that was quite pricy. I was also charged an extra $7.50 for my pizza. We paid the bill in cash and the waitress asked if I needed change. I said yes since gratuity was already included. My change should have been a little over $5 and the waitress came back and handed me a $5 bill not acknowledging the missing change. It was less than a dollar so I let it go but honestly, who takes it upon themselves to just not give a customer all of their change and say nothing about it. Overall, the super slow service, my food coming out after everyone else was done and the insane bill which was incorrect, we all agreed that it was bad enough of an experience that we'd never go back. Not somewhere I'd ever recommend due to the service alone but the food was ok. Nothing was bad. Just nothing to write home about. read more

Disappointed! This is one of the most disappointing food experiences I've had in a long time. Michelina's wood fire oven is there just for show. There wasn't a speck of char on this undercooked doughy fiasco. And the sauce was subpar at best. The only saving grace was the cheese pull and the sausage, but unfortunately that wasn't enough to save this wanna be New York slice of a pie. It's definitely not New Haven style. Overall, I'd give this pizza zero stars, but since Yelp's scale is 1 to 5, I'm giving Michelina's 1 star. Shameful indeed, that's a review. read more

I told the woman behind the counter there was a mistake and we'll take the small pie plus another small but not at the cost of the two because a mistake was clearly made. I was then charged 90 dollars which I tried to rectify with the very rude manager when employees of the establishment and patrons put their hands on me and threatened me. First, let me start off the saying the tables were sticky and the menus were wet. So that set the tone. Then came the drinks. I don't know what was wrong with them but they werent right. And then the food?? We ordered a small pizza, penne allá vodka, and penne alfredo. The only redeemable food was the pizza and it's hard to mess up pizza. The pastas were both gross, I only was able to manage 3 bites. I didn't know it was possible to mess up the food AND drinks. All this was awful and then the bill was $100. This place just opened last week and is in the same location as the old DeLegna. We came to check it out on Monday not realizing they had only opened the day before. We were offered a seat inside or outside. We opted for a table outside on the sidewalk. Overall service was welcoming and friendly. We ordered a large pizza (the State Street Special) and it arrived at our table within an appropriate amount of time. The pizza is wood fired so crust appear charred, but it's the nature of the cooking process, which we happen to love. Happy to report that the mushrooms were fresh and not canned which is a BIG PLUS in my book. The pizza was loaded, yet the crust remained crispy for being so thin. Only thing I didn't care for was the meatballs on the pizza, they were too mushy for my taste. Overall a great experience and we will be back. read more

i absolutely love the food here every time i've come but also the service is beyond terrible everytime. everyone is polite, but the wait time is insane. from the time i came in i waited like 15 minutes for someone to even come over. the wait for the food to come out wasn't as bad but we had one water the entire time, given no napkins or silverware and were never checked on for us to even ask. the owner (i believe) came and checked on the three other tables (two that came in after us) and ignored us. we waited 30+ minutes to get the check and box. it's just very annoying as i love the food here, my favorite pizza, but was here for over two hours. and then before i could even decide what to tip, tip is included????????? read more

This restaurant replaced De Legna and the experience was below average. It was for a friend's birthday and although I'm not a fan of Italian, I of course still went. As soon as I walked in, I realized how cold it was and could not figure out why the heat was not on. We were the only patrons there so it was pretty quiet. I always give an establishment a chance to right their wrongs before reviewing, however my complaint was met with no response. My husband and I live in the neighborhood and decided to give Michelinas a shot for lunch. We ordered a pizza and In the short time it took for us to stroll around the block our food was ready. We thanked them and left. Once we arrived back to our house, we opened the box to find a charred pie. The mushrooms were so burnt, they disintegrated when we tried to pick them off. I'm all for wood fired pizza. But an all black crust is simply not prepared right. 2 stars for how quickly we got the pie but we won't be returning. read more

Horrible! We showed up on a Saturday night prime time and there was an employee sleeping by one of the tables. It was also completely empty. We got drinks and they had to ask multiple times what we wanted since they didn't know their menu. Last night was just a disaster. Their delivery service through Slice said to expect delivery in 35 minutes. 45 minutes passed with no updates so we called the restaurant. They said that they couldn't make two of our items and they had called us ( never received a call) They then said they would have the other items delivered within 10 minutes.
