Honestly, whatever I ordered it wasn't that good but for the photo it's beautiful. It looks nice. It's pretty inside. It's a little expensive but in end of the day you're in Paris and who cares but it doesn't taste good but the photos do great.

C'était absolument jolie. J'ai acheté un pâtisserie avec des amandes et du sucre et c'était suPer bOn!! La femme la était gentille et radiante. J'aimerais y venir encore.

Did not know anything about this bakery before going in but was pleasantly surprised by how good everything was. The yuzu tart was 10/10.

Beautiful works of dessert art! We had read about this shop and happy we decided to try. Clean and bright, and staff is happy to serve.

Quite an eye pleaser, the most amazing baked goods design I have seen. So elegant to look at that it's hard to think about slicing it with a knife or fork. Just look at the photos I uploaded! I looked up a highly rated bakery and ended up walking past Michalak Marais and I just had to try it after seeing the masterpieces. The taste is amazing and they just know how to deliver an amazing product. The desserts where not overly sweet, but just had a great balance of sweetness. It is to-go only so I went to a coffee shop and had dessert with coffee and it was so tasty! I am so happy I walked by this shop in Paris!

Christophe Michalak has the reputation of being a pastry genius. I believe he was (one of) the youngest winner of the la Coupe du monde de la patisserie with the French team in 2005. His patisserie(s) are a relatively new sensation and so I didn't know much about him - before discovering that Dominique Ansel is a fan of his work. That decided it for me: What's good for DA is good enough for me to try! Christophe is a mad alchemist, alright: creating odd combinations and presentations, but supremely confident of his ability to strike gold. Half his display case is filled with dessert jars with spoons ("Kosmik"). Those jars include reimagined dessert classics (St. Honore, Chocolate mousse, Paris-Brest, Tarte au citron, milles feuilles, Tiramisu...). The "Klassik" collection includes a superb pavlova (raspberry, litchi, lemon), and a fantastic Strawberry Pistachio. But, I can't say that they were all hits, and the same for the small cakes: I didn't care much for the mini pistachio financier, but the chocolate with sea salt was just fine. Given the artistry and imagination (at the risk of failure), there is a lot of variation in experience between what one would rate the pastries e.g. one of the Kosmik varieties felt like meringue and jam only... Accordingly, I'm rounding down to 4.0 stars, even though some of the pastries e.g. the religieuse were clearly amazing.

Had the Chocolate mousse The mousse is really creamy and delicious with a hint of hazlenut. The crumble is light and crunchy with hazlenuts. I guess the world champion pâtissier title isn't an exaggeration...

Angelina, Paris, France -- April 12…read more Our family of four with kids ages 9 and 10 stopped here for lunch after visiting the Louvre, drawn in by its reputation for having the best hot chocolate in the world. We were looking for a place to relax and refuel, and the experience felt a bit mixed overall. Arrival and First Impressions The space is elegant with classic Parisian charm. The line moved quickly, and we were seated with a great view of the dining room. It felt refined but still comfortable. The Highlights The famous hot chocolate lived up to expectations, thick, rich, and almost more like a dessert than a drink. We also had French onion soup and an éclair, both of which were very good. The pastries were clearly well made and thoughtfully prepared. The kids had chicken tenders, which they enjoyed, even though the tomato sauce was a bit different from what they expected. The Challenges The biggest drawback was the price. The meal felt expensive for what we ordered, coming in at €154 for a fairly simple lunch. Service felt slightly rushed as they moved tables along quickly. Final Thoughts We would likely return if we were nearby and specifically craving the hot chocolate again. It is a classic Paris stop and worth trying once, but the value may not justify going out of your way unless that signature experience is high on your list.

It really tastes like melted chocolate with a bit of milk mixed in to make it more drinkable. We went at a bit of an off time, late morning and it wasn't overly busy. We saw our server once and I couldn't recall who he was when it came time to get the bill. I asked a hostess walking by for our check and she told me to ask our server while walking away. We were able to flag another server down eventually but the whole process just took too long. The tables for four have chairs that don't quite tuck in causing for a bit awkward seating. If you like really thick hot chocolate, give it a try but otherwise ok to miss this one. Plenty of good hot chocolate throughout the city.

The portion sizes were excellent for the price. I was expecting smaller portions, so I was pleasantly surprised when my plate came out packed with food and definitely worth the value. I came here on my first visit to France with my sister and brother-in-law. I had just finished my time at the Eiffel tower and walked over to this restaurant for a drink and a snack. I was seated immediately, waiting for the rest of my party. The staff were incredibly patient, allowing me to stay for the fifteen-ish minutes it took for my family to arrive. We, of course, ordered the hot chocolate topped with cream. It was incredibly rich, which was the draw. It was required that we each ordered our own teapot, which provided about two and a half cups of hot chocolate. This was a bit excessive, as the drink was heavy and I could only stomach a cup. I did wish the restaurant allowed us to split the pot amongst our table. Nonetheless, I enjoy dining at Carette and returned on my second Paris trip with my husband. Anyone visiting for the first time should try their thick hot chocolate at least once.

The apple had a lightness to it yet the middle had a fresh apple crunchiness. The other two treats were wonderful. We ordered flat white's and they were done perfect. I couldn't tell if this was a real apple or some fancy French creation made to look like one - that's how real it looked! The mousse and apple bits were cold & delicious and the chocolate shell was good, but not sure if it was worth the price at €7.5. + Pain Au Chocolat Cookie - Verrrry good chocolate chip cookie, chocolate croissant mashup. Only thing that we were missing was some good ol' milk! + Almond Croissant - Once again, delicious! Solid croissant and definitely a good grab and go candidate. = Citronnade - Was just OK. Lemonade that was on the watered down side, but was somewhat refreshing because I was dying of thirst. THE SERVICE ----------------------- - Employee who helped us with our order was friendly, but the cashier was a bit blah and not exactly the friendliest person, especially when we asked for extra utensils and napkins. THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------------ - Smallish, tight interior that you can dine in at, but don't be surprised if the next table is sitting on top of you. + There are also 5 outdoor tables on the narrow street. - Entrance is tight too. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS ------------------------------------------- + Even though this bakery is ranked highly on Tripadvisor, there was no crowd on the Monday morning that we swung by. Line moved superfast.

The strawberry shaped dessert looked beautiful and was clearly made with a lot of care. Inside was a fresh strawberry puree that tasted good, but for 20 dollars it did not feel worth it. The flavor was fine, just not memorable enough to match the price. The cookie was the complete opposite. It was huge, perfectly baked, and easily the best thing I tried. The outside had a slight crisp, while the inside was soft, gooey, and rich. Every bite tasted buttery and balanced, not overly sweet. At 15 dollars, it felt fair given the size and how satisfying it was. Overall, La Pâtisserie du Meurice delivers impressive craftsmanship, but value depends on what you order. The strawberry dessert looks better than it tastes for the price, while the oversized cookie is absolutely worth getting and the clear standout.
