My daughter and I stopped into this place between mealtimes and got a great crab salad sandwich and some quiche. We ate them at the cute tables outside. Once you take your first bite, you get it. This is one of those places where absolutely everything is yummy. We popped into this charming little bakery near Westfield mall during our quick stop in Paris and oh my goodness, it did not disappoint! I grabbed a flaky pistachio pastry and a classic baguette for the road, and both were absolutely heavenly - buttery, fresh, and full of that perfect French flavor. My husband went for their ham and cheese croissant and couldn't stop raving about how crispy and gooey it was. The staff was super friendly even though our French is terrible, and everything felt warm and welcoming. We ended up taking a few extra treats back to the hotel because we just couldn't resist. Stopped in on a Tuesday at around 9. We got this ham and cheese bread and it was still warm. It was so good - probably because of all the butter in there. Since the boulangerie was close by to our hotel, we came a few times. We tried their baguette (also very good). We were those tourists just chomping on a whole baguette while walking down the street. You definitely need to finish it on the first day though because it gets very chewy the next day. We also tried one of the premade sandwiches, which was meh. The quiche was not good. It was dry so I would stay away from that one. Overall, we liked this spot and most of the things we ordered. After spending hours inside the Louvre, you must be hungry and this is the perfect stop. Just following the underground exit of Louvre and you will easily find this shop. This is a French Pastry Heaven with incredible price. There is a stand inside so you stay inside during winter or take out and eat it in the park like the French. The Éclair is stuffed with cream that you will get it in every bite but not messy. Croissant Jambon was melted with cheese and délicieux!!! While searching for another boulangerie nearby, we stumbled upon Julien and decided to get some pastries. Very glad we did! Got a few cakes and pastries - every single one we tried were great. The fruit tarts were our favorites cause that tart shell is exactly how a buttery shell should be. Wish we were hungrier cause the croissants and the baguette sandwiches all looked amazing! Oof what a beautiful sight Boulangerie Julien is. The smell of warm delicious pastries as soon as you step in is like you're in heaven. They have an assortment of warm and cold pastries, cakes, pies, and macarons. We got a slice of flan with coconut, and a cream pastry with raspberries. The cream pastry was delicious- I have had similar in the past but this one was wonderful.. the cream was light and had a hint of fruit, and it paired well with the pastry itself and raspberries. The flan... eh. The flan was quite hard and you could tell it definitely lacked the egg base. It was interesting with the coconut, but the flan could have been better. I give boulangerie julien four stars because of the pies and cakes- when I was at the patisserie almost al the pies had crisp ends- our flan too had a burnt crust which took away from the flavor. I have no doubt that this might not always be the case, but it took away from my experience there. read more

Do not buy their pre-boxed macarons. The 1 star review is SOLELY for that (we ordered a croissant and an almond croissant that were delicious). But we got a €19 box of macarons that were absolutely atrocious. They were stale and completely hollow. I was completely appalled that they would even sell such horrible macarons but then again, tourists like myself are probably the only people who buy them. By the time we realized the macarons were a complete waste, it was too late. We were at our hotel, hours later, and leaving for our next European destination in the morning. Their pastry is amazing, reasonably priced considering the city; Paris, and considering the neighborhood; a rock-throw away from the Louvre, at the heart of the historic 1st Arrondissement. On the way to the louvre, we were originally looking for a place to quickly stop by and get coffee, but we saw this place and entered. it's a small and cute bakery with lots of sweets and bread for sale. the staff is welcoming, and they were able to help us out since it was our first time in the bakery. Even though we didn't speak French, it was a very easy and smooth transaction. We ended up getting a few pastries, and a few eclairs. the chocolate eclair and caramel eclair, as well as a cream layered pastry that was also delicious. This is a small bakery located near the Les Halles area; even though it was a small bakery and there are TONS of bakeries in the area we always came back to this because the baguettes were so fresh. We literally had a baguette everyday, whether it was just with cheese (fromage) and salami or something a little more intricate it was delish everytime. Since the baguettes were so amazing we had to try other things; they have desserts, bread, and quiches. So naturally we also tried there desserts; my wife and I can agree that it was just average. Stumbled across Boulangerie Julien on Yelp as I was trying to find a bakery that made caneles. Walked in to a fairly crowded bakery (note there seemed to be one line for baked items and another one for ordering their sandwiches or baguettes). I made my way to the back line and within minutes, the lady politely greeted me and asked what I would like. I quickly found the canele and requested one. As she was bagging it up, I noticed a chocolate chip and pistachio escargot. Without any hesitation, I requested one. IIRC my total was around 13 Euros for two. The canele was good but not the best I've ever had. I wished Sadaharu Aoki offered them here in Paris as well as in Tokyo. The chocolate chip and pistachio escargot on the other hand was super flakey and filled with a good amount of both chocolate chips and pistachio paste. Would definitely come back here for additional pastries and perhaps order their sandwiches to try. read more

After visiting several amazing bakeries in Paris including Pierre Herme, Carette, Paul and Philippe Gosselin, I think Julien might be my favorite. If I lived in Paris, this would definitely be my go to place for fresh bread and pastries. I came here with my family for lunch after finding out that Claus was booked for the entire day. The people who work here only speak French but if you don't speak French, you could definitely just read the signs and gesture how many of each item you want. All the pastries were very reasonably priced for Paris and we got an eggplant sandwich, ham and cheese bread, strawberry tart, and flan for 12 euros. You can also request for any of the pastries to be heated up if you like. There was a park close by with benches so I would recommend grabbing some pastries from Julien and walking to the park to sit down and enjoy them. The bread I had was so fresh and delicious and the strawberry tart was possibly the best strawberry tart I've ever had. I would definitely recommend visiting Julien if you're ever near the Louvre! read more

Best croissants we've ever had (and we've eaten a lot of croissants)! My favorite is the original but my family also said the almond and chocolate croissants were the best they've had in Paris and overall. I also tried the leek quiche, chaussons aux pommes and the tarte provencal (sort of a vegetable pizza without cheese) and they were all wonderfully delicious. We tried the brownie as well but we would not recommend that. The salads, sandwhiches and other foods also looked fresh and delicious.
