I am not new to Michael's but in the past only ate breakfast here. I went for dinner last Saturday night feeling somewhat anxious about how dinner would be. Well, I was pleasantly surprised. Everyone in our party enjoyed their food. I went for the classic diner meal - roasted turkey with trimmings. It was very good and the salad bar was a nice plus. The best part of the evening was the staff, especially Sue, our waitress. She was was so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. She was great! We had a baby with us and all of the staff were very sweet with her. Would definitely recommend for families. read more

Bruh...ok so everytime I come here which has been about 3 times so far there is always some drunk guy or hobo in there starting stuff and then they have to call the cops. Its CRAZY. And after stuff like that happens the waiter forgets to come back to our table. Don't get me wrong though because they seem like nice people sometimes. The food is honestly mediocre, their milshakes are pretty good but the last time I came I ordered cheesecake and it had egg shells in it so not that great. Also there was another time when there was a tiny bug crawling around on the table. It was do big deal to kill it but I don't think its good for a restaurant. I also think they need to clean their grill and pots and pans more because when I got shrimp or french toast I could taste whatever they cooked before that and it kinda sucked so I spit it out. It was really freaking upsetting though because it looked pretty awesome until I put it in my mouth of course. I don't really like going here lol. read more

Went with work friends for an early dinner. All was well until our entrees came out; mine was the wrong order. Not a big deal - it happens. However following that, it took until everyone at the table had finished their meal (20 minutes or so) for my correct order to be brought out. When I explained the situation to the manager, she dismissed the situation with an aloof attitude and a half-hearted apology, explaining that the server was very busy (we arrived at 3:30pm and were the only patrons there!). I wish I could give a 1 star rating! I went to the restaurant with my family on Mother's Day this past Sunday. It did look busy. That place is absolutely low class low grade, a back in the 90's looking decoration of wooden tables of old style restaurant. The food is all T.V dinner type of food. The chicken look it was a from a package that was frozen and all you do is heat it up in a microwave oven! I ordered what is supposed to be as described on the menu, Grilled Sirloin steak (well done) with collard greens and mash potatoes. I The salad bar was added free in which I have not eaten from one in years since my diet changed. I already knew this place does not serve organic and natural and is not gluten free.I carefully picked what I want for my salad and just put olive oil on it. When the food arrived I was puzzle and thought," this does not look like steak at all! It more look like a pound of ground beef with onions and gravy on my plate. I tried to eat it and just picked at it and I saw some pink parts in the meat meaning it was not fully cooked to what I wanted for well done. I grew more unpleased and was discussed and totally turned off by the food and the place. One of my family members mention to the waitress that that meat need to be taken back in the kitchen for the chief to see. The waitress replied I should had said something earlier, in which I they were going to do is reheat the meat and make it more disgusting and unhealthy to eat1 The waitress came back from the kitchen and said the chief to not include the meat in the bill, in which was 9.99,not worth that! I definitely will not come back to this place and I do not eat at 'CHAIN" RESTAURANTS" since now 6 years ! I cannot believe this type of restaurant is located in this part of town with single homes that are detach and very nice upscale and well kept. Newly refurbished, Michaels is consistently good food at very reasonable rates. Great place to meet up with friends. Perfect place to take children. Efficient friendly staff. Amazingly good daily specials. Easy to walk to if you live in Glenside. Don't get turned off by the not so nice outside of the place. Hopefully, they will make the outside as nice as the inside. read more

this used to be my favorite place for dinner. Last time of our visit , salad bar is short of food. the guy waiter was chatting. service was bad. my food was greasy. Other customers are complainging about other stuff . It was stressful dinner. I had to find another diner. read more

Ok. I would have given this a 4 or a 5, and I hope they look. We've gone almost every week since we discovered it, usually with another family, and we drive in from Mount Airy because we love diners and we don't love the diner in Mount Airy . . . .. We love Michaels and the waitstaff is warm and efficient -- usually. Last night we went and the waitress was kind of like Ursula from friends -- deadpan and flaky. My friend's daughter ordered a strawberry milkshake, which she has done every time, and got one small glass -- every other time it's come with the extra in the big metal container. When we asked the waitress she said it's a new rule that they make the milkshake precisely and not have any leftovers. So. I'm going to call, because that's ridiculous and disappointing. If she's a flaky waitress who forgot to bring the leftovers, that's fine. But if it's a new rule, then we just won't go as often. People don't go to diners for stinginess. read more

My husband decided to gather the extended family and celebrate birthdays. Our waitress's name was Rose. She was friendly but constantly screwed up the orders we waited a very long time ( 30 mins) to receive our food after ordering. She came out with a different order and then asked if we wanted it since it was cooked but had to pay for it! We declined. The fries were good but the rest of the food mediocre. Rose also gave us the wrong bill after. We won't be going there again! read more

Today I left this restaurant feeling totally disrespected. I take my 89 year old mother there regularly. After waiting over 30 minutes to be seated, my name was called. As I get my mother up to follow the hostess to the booth being readied for us, another group already seated decides they would prefer our booth, so we are asked to wait again while this group moves and they clean the group's now dirty booth for us. Mind you, this group is the same group that refused the first booth offered them because it was too near the bathroom so they waited for a more suitable booth. They had been seated in the "more suitable" booth for at least 15 minutes when they were allowed to move to the booth being set up for me, leaving me and my mother waiting again. I recently took my teenage granddaughter and her friend out to eat before attending a concert at the Keswick Theater. The food and service were excellent. I told the owner that the turkey club sandwich was the best I have ever eaten. Our experience was absolutely pleasurable. read more

Visited diner last week and sat right away. Server was very polite and attentive. Food came out very quick and have to say my breakfast was amazing! My boyfriend got the chicken quesadilla and I ordered one to go because his was so good! Prices were very fair! Best diner!!!!! Will def be back! read more

everybody cut everybody cut my order from the table but not the bill! after a long night of preforming in best classical theatrical experience based on a kenny logins songs, i went to get myself a fine meal to celebrate with my fellow theater children. it took forever for our food to come out. but for me, it took longer. when i ordered, the waitress asked me if i knew that the four sides of bacon i ordered would be 16 slices. i was deeply offended and disgusted at her remarks clearly about my weight. i embarrassingly said yes and waited for my food. years go by and it does not come. on my way out, i said to the kitchen staff to forget about the bacon, which they said they would. the next day, i heard from my friends that the bacon was charged to the bill. they had to go on a quest to mordor to get the meal which never arrived off the bill. we are furious with the mistreatment of us just because we are theater kids. raise a glass to freedom, something they can never take away. read more

AWFUL!! AWFUL!! AWFUL!! Never go to Michael's Family Diner in Glenside. Their manager is very unprofessional, and their kitchen staff should be held for fraud. Tonight, my wife ordered Chicken Oscar that includes crab meat. When it arrived, she received crab CAKES dumped on top of the veal. It was nauseating and made my wife sick after one bite. She told the waiter and she sent it back. We had to leave since my wife was getting sick from the garbage they sent out as Chicken Oscar. The manager, however, instructed our waiter to charge us for my wife's cup of soup and her little salad. We told the manager this was very unfair and no way to correct the situation. He just kept smiling and repeated, "I don't give away free food. She had the soup and salad and that is $8.25." When I told him I was posting this story on line, he laughed. I hope the owners of this restaurant see this posting and act accordingly. This manager did a very poor job, as did the "chef" who sent out a platter that was advertised as Chicken Oscar.
