It's always very quiet with low numbers of customers, but I'm sure numbers increase on a seasonal basis. It may be hard to find assistance if you require it due to the number of staff working. I only stopped halfway through the store since I needed storage boxes, but I was blown away at how clean and organized everything was. Nothing felt cluttered or in disarray like other Micheal's locations I've stopped into. Everything was so easy to find! We stopped in this Michaels looking for some specific baking items. There was a small selection of baking supplies. We purchased a silicon mold, but they didn't have what we wanted. Prices were high compared to comparable items up the street at Walmart. A big negative in my book: When looking at some cake glazes, I notice that the ones on sale had expired in August 2023 -- 15 months ago! This location feels small and the stock never feels great. Shelves always seem to be dwindling/not have a lot. Employees are a little sparse as well and more often than not it seems like the light has gone out of their eyes. They are dwindling much like the shelves. The extent of my holiday home decor is pretty minimal, mostly for my kids to enjoy. During the shutdown I was able to order some Easter decor online that was on clearance including a basket shaped like a bunny and some wooden eggs. I also ordered crafts for us to do on Easter Day. Michaels offers curbside pickup and it was a breeze. You wait for the email confirmation that let's you know when your order is ready, then head on to the store. When there, just call the store to let them know you've arrived. I provided them with the color and make of my vehicle and told the staff member where I parked. She asked if I could show my ID through my window. I didn't have to open it just put my ID against the window. They drop off items either in the back or in your trunk. I opted for the trunk, so I had it popped open for her to easily drop off my items. She closed it and I was off on my merry way. Stopped in the Michael's for some crafts for my students to make before leaving for the holiday break. They certainly did not have much left evident by the empty shelves and the direct response I received from the manager that would NOT be getting any more. As a result, I was only able to pick up one craft of some cut little holiday dog cut outs. I had to find something else at a different store somewhat similar. The store is well stocked with arts and craft items. The aisles can get a little small and tight in some areas. It was a well kept store with clean floors and display items were arranged in order. This store is kind of small and has noticeably much less space compared to the Carmel Mountain Michaels store. It was hard to find helpers in the store to guide you or grab items on high shelves. The register at space #2 was malfunctioning and it took 20 minutes to make a simple purchase. They were very apologetic. The manager gave an addition 20% off for our long wait, which was very nice. This store is adequate for people of Poway but if I'm just as close to Michaels in Carmel Mountain, I think I'd rather go where there is a ton of service helpers and many registers to make the line go fast. read more

I have to to give them a one Star in order to review them! Honestly, I really want to give this location a "ZERO Star". This is the worst experience! Employees doesn't think outside the box or even tried to help or do anything to accommodate me as a customer. I grabbed a whole bunch of candles from the shelve that were advertised as on "sale for $3 or $5", but when I got to the register, it wasn't updated in the system for some reason. They wouldn't try to do anything to help me out other than being in their comfort zone and just stood there and kept repeating that's what it says in their system. So I didn't want to argue and said, no worries and left. Moral of the story; it's the principle, not the money. I cannot believe how they couldn't handle the situation when it all comes down to the store's mistake for false advertisement. Bad customer service! Not returning to this location. I went to Michaels looking for some Christmas decorations, I was helped by this wonderful, very knowledgeable young lady names Avaya. She not only showed me some awsome decorations but got me signed up dfor the rewards program as well. If it wasn't for Avaya I probably wouldn't have gotten such great stuff, or the benefits of the rewards program. She said she was new and I'm just saying they should keep her . On top of that the store was well stocked and clean and if the other employees at the Poway Michael's are half as good as Avaya then thats the store you want to go to. 5 stars for the store and 5 stars for Avaya. I usually like Michaels, but this location left much to be desired. I called to put items on hold because my closest Michaels did not have any in stock and gave them the specific item numbers. The sales associate stated that she found 3 of my 6 items and put them on hold for me. I spent $20 on lyft to travel to pick up my items, because Michaels does not hold stuff overnight and these items (Wonton in a Million) has been selling out incredibly quickly. When I arrived, not only did they have the wrong items on hold, but they also didn't have any other stickers from the brand in stock. Incredibly disappointing and such a waste of money. read more

Not happy with corporate - there was no signage or notification to employees (The cashier had two other employees double and triple check the pricing) of tie dye kits being on sale 30%. The cashiers were very disrespectful when I asked if they took apple pay ( my card broke the other day ) they said no only samsung. ( what store take samsung and not apple??) Then I asked if they could type my card number in and they said they don't do that there?? I've worked in customer service for years and 99% of registers you can type in a card number if it's not ancient. I should not be allowed to go to Michaels!! I'm one of those people that goes in with a couple of things in mind and leaves with a cart full of stuff. I could literally go broke if I shopped at Michaels more often. I get such a happy feeling coming into all the Michaels stores!! This one in particular is smaller than the ones in Clairemont Mesa and Mission Valley, so the inventory is more limited, but it's still as clean and well organized as the other ones. Walking through the aisles with all the pretty silk flowers is so uplifting... The choices of cardstock paper are endless! I could spend hours in here! Never mind!! I already DO spend hours here! ^_^ Unfortunately I do have to agree with some of the complaints from the other Yelpers. Not everyone is friendly.. Some workers are definitely nicer and more helpful than others and yes, the lines to check out are a head scratcher. I've talked to numerous customers standing in line and we all agree that we don't know why, but this particular Michaels takes a long time to check you out, regardless of the time of day you come. I went in to this store on Sat. 4/2 in the early afternoon looking for a certain type of knitting yarn, I've had such an unpleasant, negative experience from this rude store clerk that it compels me to write this review in hopes that the management notices their poorly trained employee/employees with a very bad attitude. Despite the store being almost empty on a Saturday afternoon, it was obvious that this place was under staffed. Because of not being able to locate the item I was looking for, I had to ask for assistance and after waiting for a store associate, a middle aged female clerk came over and asked what I was looking for. When I told her I was looking for a scrubby yarn, her immediate response was "I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT IS, I'VE NEVER HEARD OF THAT, I AM FROM THE FLORAL DEPARTMENT, I CANNOT HELP YOU" and she went on to say that THEY HAVE SO MANY ITEMS IN THIS STORE THAT SHE CAN'T POSSIBLY KNOW EVERYTHING AND THAT THERE'S NO ONE HERE TODAY WHO KNOWS WHAT THAT IS and SHE JUST WALKED AWAY! All this with a very rude and condescending manner as if she shouldn't have been bothered with her precious time. She didn't make the slightest effort to provide any kind of customer service. Her attitude was outright obnoxious!! Her rudeness shocked me and left me quite speechless. One bad apple (in this case one bad store clerk) ruined my shopping experience and feeling totally negative about this store. Called this location, not once but twice, to see if there was an item in stock before driving up there, and I was placed on hold for 10 minutes, before finally being helped by a young man. He went to go look for said item, and then returned to the phone after three minutes of waiting. He said yes all of those items are located in aisle 68, then I asked him if he could place the item I was looking for on hold. He then said, "Oh.. what was the item you're looking for again?" I hung up immediately after that. Is this what you train your employees to do? You teach them to lie to their customer just to appease them, when in reality you don't even know what the customer is calling for? How about asking for clarification? Instead of just giving them any answer. If I hadn't asked to place the item on hold, I would've driven 20 miles just to find out that they may not even have the item in stock. I am reviewing this Michael's in comparison to all the other Michael's I have been to all around San Diego county. So clean and well organized, kind staff, and had products well in stock. They have so much and I didn't feel overwhelmed due to a good store layout. All the sails where well displayed. Even the lady at check out was really nice. Got to pull up my coupon on my phone and saved. I had been to at least 5 other Michael's all around from Encinitas to Santee and a JoAnn's and they all had a poor selection in the jewelry section, tones of stuff out of stock and everything all disorganized. I am not happy with one of my custom framing jobs. I got an acrylic frame that cost $160 and my picture slipped inside the frame. I brought it back but it did it again. So I had to tape my picture in and now have pet hairs and fingerprints all over the inside. This should not be the result of spending so much money. read more
