They have sections based on what your looking for: War games, painting, dnd, and board games. There are very clear sections of the store. We walked around to look at the board games and DnD section, along with dice. We loved the dice selections and play mat selections. We only ended up leaving with a Trans mimic sticker (queer friendly!!) and had a lovely interaction with staff members before leaving. Overall great store set up, clean, nice staff, good selection, queer friendly, and good vibes.

It was more than time to find a local game store. I started the search and came across Brute Force Games. They had a pretty decent website. So I gave the store a call, and asked stupid questions (is this in stock?). While they didn't have what I was looking for, the staff was super helpful and didn't mind the questions. I decided that I would have to stop by the store in person. The overall aesthetics of the shop were amazing. Much larger than I was anticipating - but the layout was extremely well setup. With the cashiers being in the middle, they had 3 different registers going at the same time. While there was still a rather large line, it went by rather quick. The store also had a great selection of products, I was able to find the Alien RPG expansion - which I haven't seen in most stores. They also had a wide range of TCGs, Board Games, Trinkets and Warhammer stuff. While we were shopping there were running a Magic the Gathering tournament - there was plenty of space for both shoppers and players. The entire stuff was quite helpful, and we were able to find everything we were looking for. Overall a very solid experience - certainly one of the better game stores I've been to. Not only is it clean, but there is plenty of room. You most likely find something you are looking for, and the best part is that they are local.

Thank you to Corey for the suggestions, we are so excited to start our new games!…read more We came in here looking for good two player games and solo rpg games. The selection is decent, though a little limited. They seemed to be out of some things but that's okay. We started browsing looking at simple games. Corey asked if he could help and we told him what we were looking for. He said the one we were holding, Rebel Princess, was really fun and he had played it himself. we decided to snag that. He then recommended us Forest Shuffle as a fun game for us too, little does he know that animals like bugs and birds are my entire personality. Such a good read on his part. We loved the game he pitched and took that as well. He showed us around the shop and where to find some amazing used and vintage books (very cool little selection) and where everything else is located. He also suggested me a solo rpg which I will be coming to get! Super thankful for the nice staff and amazing store!

TLDR: Customer service is truly abysmal and makes it hard to support small independent businesses. The ambiance of the store is OK. Flourescent lights, feels kinda like an office, but selection is great and their website seems to have lots of fun events--they've got tons of stuff and in general, I love supporting the board game community! It's just that the staff here don't make it feel like one. If you're not a regular, there's a good chance the staff will be cold and you will leave feeling a little miffed. --- My story, for their owner, who likely doesnt care and will likely never read this: I visited your store from out of town on a Saturday evening at 6:50PM, and you were closing early that day at 7PM. I was rushing to buy a specific game that wasnt in stock in most of the San Diego area. I called in advance to reserve the item but when I arrived, your staff turned me away. I know its annoying to be the last customer of the day, but I was still there before their closing time at 7PM for a quick pick up, and usually, you close much later! I apologized sincerely for being a customer at the end of the day but technically, there was still 10 minutes left and there was no way of knowing you'd be closing early (your staff could have mentioned it on the phone when I called). And, to top it off, there were still two other customers in the store! As I stepped into the store, 5 steps in, I was met with a "no" and an almost snarky smile, and in my desperation, I plead and even offered to bribe the cashier with an extra $20 JUST to let me purchase the game I called in advance for and while you were still technically open. It was embarassing at this point and crazy of me to offer on top of the $50 game, but I was getting desperate. The cashier did not care at all, and his coworker looked hesitant and like he felt sorry, but didn't offer any solutions. I gave up and started walking out, and only until I realized I had cash did they begrudgingly allow my purchase. So at the end of the day, I got what I needed, but it was certainly a needlessly challenging experience. I try to support small businesses instead of Amazon and actively go out of my way to do so even at the cost of my own inconvenience, so who turns customers away for a 30 second transaction? Your customers and the surrounding community would benefit from a business that appreciates ALL their customers, not just their regular bros.

Hubs found another "happy place" in SD County!…read more Knowhere G&C is located in an industrial area of San Marcos, near an antique mall, several home furnishings stores and next to San Marcos Deli. This seems an ideal location, with plenty of free parking and, judging by the flow of pedestrian traffic in and out of this shop on a "Comic Book Wednesday" many customers agree. Hubs declared a large selection of comics, games and collectibles. He proudly emerged over an hour after parking with a smile on his cute nerdy face and a bag filled with reading materials in his hand. He was very surprised and happy that his purchase amount ~$80TL awarded him with a cool graphic novel. Happiness shortly turned to a bit of confusion when he took a moment to peruse his receipt and discovered he had been charged about 4x the amount he should have been for a comic. He checked online to make sure he didn't grab a ltd edition, or special release, and determined he hadn't. I waited while he returned inside. About 10 minutes he reemerged - HAPPY AGAIN! Seems the clerk, Daniel (guessing from the receipt ), didn't catch it and agreed it had been incorrectly priced. He further apologized saying he usually catches the comics over $20 and confirms the customer is aware when they are purchasing a more expensive issue. So Daniel was sorry he missed that completely. Hubs confirmed that he was still ok receiving the free graphic novel and was assured, yes, his purchase amount still qualified for the free novel. The over charge was returned to Hubs and he was happy with the store, Daniel and his customer service. Knowhere G&C has been bookmarked for our future SD road trips. Cheers! "CC"
